Model Numbers? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

1.I am in searching of a new phone, and i stopped here on the oneplus 3 forum. I saw there are more models (a3000, a3003 dont really know more) around , so i dont know which one to buy?
And i just want to know if i can flash anycustom rom i want on any model of the Oneplus3.
2.Is worth the extra $ for oneplus 3t?
3.Which one has better rom development on xda ONEPLUS 3 or 3T ?

A3000 is American/Chinese, A3003 is EU/worldwide.
All ROMs can be flashed on all model numbers.

2. That comes down to personal choice. I'd say the original 3 has slightly better price/performance - 3T is indeed better on paper, but those differences are almost negligible in real life. That said, I may be a bit biased towards the 3 [emoji14]
Worth mentioning that 3 is not being produced any more so it may be hard to get now.
3. At the moment the OnePlus 3 has better dev support. But 3T is catching up. And in future they will probably have the same support - literally the same ROMs. We already know that kernels can be made to work on both models and AFAIK OnePlus is working on a unified ROM for both devices (which means that custom ROMs should also be able to work on both).

I'm way too lazy to look into it ... better ask some developer [emoji1]
I guess it detects the chipset and selects the profile accordingly.
Probably not possible to do with completely different chipsets, but 820 and 821 are practically the same, just have different clocks (and probably voltages).
Check out blu_spark kernel by eng.stk in 3T development thread. That one works on Marshmallow ROMs on both devices.

Here u go

It's simple.
If you want big development you choose 3. For 3t development it's small. I don't think many users/developers will get rid of 3 to buy 3t.

Update: we already have unified ROMs also (for example Resurrection Remix 5.8.0). So that proves that in the future both devices will share development.

Note 7 version for future Cyanogenmod builds

I will buy a note 7. I have 2 options to go for exynos or Qualcomm version. I would like your opinion about wich one has the best performance for games and wich one has the best possibility to receive a developer future Cyanogenmod 13 build. Thank you

Snapdragon beats exynos in terms of performance. Exynos beats snapdragon in terms of possibilities of cyanogenmod builds.

Yeah, i'm going to have to say that is backwards. Qualcomm is good for custom roms and mods while Exynos is the better performer.
Not Qualcomm's fault actually. Whichever phone US winds up getting will be harder to root because of the customary locked bootloaders US Telco overlords has decreed. I suspect in this case, as with the case of S7, is that Qualcomm's chip is harder to root because of the additional bootloader. Not because of the chipset. But I guess I shd have said if you aren't staying in the US, this doesn't apply. : )

So should I go for exynos variant of note 7 if I want a future Cyanogenmod build?
Enviado de meu SM-N920G usando Tapatalk
Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but either way, we don't get Cyanogen do we?
For Snapdragon the Bootloader is locked so the possibility of a custom Recovery and ROM are rather bleak to none, no? I mean what are the odds that another EngBoot leaks for the Note 7? And even with that, people seem to have had a nightmare after Rooting their phones? Plus no TWRP, yet, is there?
For Exynos the Bootloader is unlocked so that's great, however I hear that Samsung doesn't release the source to bake CM for those phones. I will take this option cause at least we could have stable Root and optimized TW ROMs for the phone like the S7 Edge?
Lastly, correct me if I am wrong again, but according to all benchmarks and video reviews isn't the Exynos battery and performance always better than SD? Except the SD GPU edges out?
You pretty much nailed it on all counts.
If you want Cyanogenmod, the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and Note 7 are not the phones for you.
Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
Can't you unlock the bootloader if the phone is payed off?
I payed off my S7 and called and had them unlock my bootloader on my phone. Won't that make it easier to root and install custom ROMs?
I'm asking because SP seems like the more likely candidate for Cyanogenmod. I also like Note 7 out of all the other android phones currently on the market. I'm a bit tempted on the Pixel XL, but the MicroSD and waterproof have it edging over the Pixel XL. I would like to think I could get the Note 7 from T-Mobile and then pay it off and when its payed off be able to install CM.
you will never have a working cm build for the note 7 or for any samsung phones for that matter..the only phone that had google experience was the galaxy s5
But doesn't S6 and before have CM builds? As well as the older notes?
What makes the Note 7 so much harder to eventually develop for?

All of them have some bugs but no where near what you have said. For the Galaxy S4 its been a while but checking their forum on here I see that they even have Android 6 builds. including CM13 which is kinda neat given its age. Most of the other things I have seen by searching. I used the S4 as my daily driver for the longest time. Though you are right that some of the threads I have found for the S6 say not a daily driver. I am a bit curious about why, and if that will ever be overcome. As in, in a year will there be builds for CM for the Note 7.
On that note what is the best phone or company for CM?

There are issues. The Official thread lists "SELinux permissive" + "Camcorder can be a bit buggy at times" as noted bugs.
I suggest you read through the thread to get a more accurate picture of issues, as I seem to remember people having trouble with mobile reception, call quality, etc. Try using the search feature within in thread to look for specific issues.

Yes. The [ROM][OFFICIAL][7.1.1][hydrogen] CyanogenMod 14.1 thread is in the Development section.
It's a good idea to try searching the subforums for the Mi Max before asking questions. You'll find a lot of the info you're looking for is already available.

MIUI sucks!!!!! Its the worst, most simple, most boring stupid rom ever made.

One plus 4? Or 5 if OP skips the 4. The dev community is why. My other phone is a note 5, there aren't many roms available , and there are so many variants of the phone that most of them don't work on mine. While people here are whining that OOS is only on 7.0 I can't even get a stable nougat rom for my 920w. With 1+ I can get two seperate ROMs from OP plus many custom ROMs some of which are bleeding edge nightlies. It's also about half the price of a Samsung device, and the dual sims are a must for me.

I'm not sure I see what the problem is with OnePlus? It would be nice if they released camera blobs but that's their choice if not.
The OP3 is a great phone. I liked the idea of the Pixel but not for the price. Being waterproof might have swayed me but it's not
Not sure when OP will have another phone.
I'll still likely get the S8! A lot of phones seem to have rear fingerprint sensors now. Huawei, LG, New Samsung and even pixel.

I'll take it from another perspective and tell you which I'm not going to consider:
- Samsung (for trashy closed-system)
- Pixel (for marketing efforts to play Apple prices while still offering a dull-looking device), and very negative community
- ZTE (for sleezy behavior when it came to offering bootloader unlock exclusive to US at the beginning)
- Any overpriced phone with gimmicky features/functions (iris scanners, double cameras, quintillion-pixel density screens, etc.)
Soo... that doesn't leave much to choose from anyway.

Should i buy a Pixel XL Marlin for custom roms ?

the question is in the title ^^, for precision, i would say that, since i have a phone, i use custom roms, the last i had was the samsung galaxy s5, the thing is that, custom roms have recurrent bugs on this device, we had to wait a long time to get a "stable" oreo rom on it, for example, camera and fingerprint were not working for a moment..
so i want to know if roms are stable and smooth on this phone, thanks

Reason I don't recommend you to jump on the Pixel is not much development is going on, The Device will be EOL on P so Major updates will stop some of the newer budget devices will still have that 2 years OS support and much more custom roms that you're after I think it'll be a better buy, Pixel XL isn't a bad buy by any means just I think better value for your situation is to be had on other devices

Custom ROM support

How likely is it to get custom ROM support for OnePlus 7T? Since the 7 is still far behind in number of custom ROMs. Many popular ROMs doesn't support the 7. What do you all think?

My guess is that some ROMs, Magisk ones in particular, will continue to work on the 7T. xXx's ROM works all the way back to the 5/5T. I imagine it'll end up working on the 7T.

I usually keep my phone for two years. I'm on the Pixel 2 XL now and I'm planning on getting the oneplus 7t this week. The pixel 4xl looks like it's going to be about $1,400 CDN dollars and that's too much. When I get the 7t, I will unlock the bootloader, so if I want to root it afterwards, I can.

I found someone today here in Toronto who is selling his oneplus 7 pro, brand new, sealed in the box for $550 CDN. I'm going to pick it up this afternoon. This is too good to be true. I'm not going to pass up the 7 pro and this price to get the 7t later this week.

You could run Magisk ROMs like xXx on the all variants down to the 5. That will likely continue as the 7T are just upgraded versions of the 7 and 6T. You may just have to look in the other forums. If you're looking for a full ROM, that may be a different story.
I'm jumping and putting my 7 Pro up for sale next month. Hate the curved screen. Every time I use it and it does something weird, I keep thinking back to the old Apple idiocy of "you're holding it wrong."
