That's just where I am! I'm technologically challenged, but using online guides/software have managed to root my 1st gen Kindle Fire. Now, I can't figure out how to install the Google apps. None of the "packages" are working. Help!

tried the ones I posted in?
[How To][Root] Kindle Fire 1 update 6.3.4 [2014]
Sent from my sailfish using XDA Labs

Did that!
Thanks for your response! However, I had already run the Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.9 and gotten the message, "All our apps have been installed". No apps were visible in the app menu or discoverable through the file manager. After your replay I ran it again. Same "success" - same result.
So, I downloaded the utility again and when I attempted to unzip it I received this message:

Access is denied.

OK, I'm REALLY lost. I can't find the thread that has the files to install Google Play since the Kindle Fire Utility is broken (as I've been informed.) I'm sorry to be such a bother but here is my situation: My Kindle is apparently rooted and working. BUT, now I am unable to download previously purchased items stored in the Cloud. Seems that Amazon no longer recognizes the device. So, since I cannot download a Google Kindle app, I'm sort of hung out to dry. How might I go about finding someone local to me who could do this for me? I live in coastal Virginia.

As far as rooting, the qemu automated root in the developer section for the hd version will work for this system version. If you happen to update at some point to newer version a different root method is needed., but for now that will work.
Sounds like it is a driver issue.
Try this driver installing this driver, make sure the device is unplugged when you install, then reboot your computer:
https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B4lZEJI5lYeMdnFHeVRMQUtRYWc/edit
It should show up in device manager as composite android adb interface
If that does not work follow the directions in this link to install sdk with kindle add-ons:
https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/connect-adb.html
As for the apps from amazon, you'll just have to install play store and forget about amazon apps.
Hope this helps

MTP sounds like the storage. Maybe the SD card is corrupt. I wish in could offer more help. Did you try a factory reset?
There is a way to get apps from the amazon store without a US credit card
In order to download anything from the Amazon Appstore (even the free apps) you need to enable 1-Click settings on your Amazon account and set a US credit card and billing address. Provided you only want to download free apps you can use any valid US address and a test credit card number.
Expiration Date has to be a valid date in the future (use the mm/yy format). Also make sure to use a US address (just Google for one, but make sure you don’t ship any purchases to this address)
American Express
371449635398431
American Express Corporate
378734493671000
Discover
6011111111111117
JCB
3530111333300000
MasterCard
5555555555554444
Visa
4111111111111111
If you want paid apps you can load your Amazon account with a gift card that you can purchase in Amazon with an international credit card. Any purchases should then use the gift card balance instead of trying to charge the non-working US credit card.
Hi Friends, Now my computer is able to read my Kindle after factory reset and few different task.
Now, when I am trying to root Kindle Fire (10.2.4.) through Qemu rooting procedure it says following. In second option "Exploiting" it says Permission denied.
"Rooting FAILED! You may want to try running this tool again.
Your device region may not be supported if you see this message again.
Press any key to continue . . ."
Any other way to root Kindle fire (10.2.4.) and use this as awesome android pad. please help.
thanks a lot for your support and help as always.

the kindle fire does not at this time support usb otg so no 3g dongle. If you have it rooted, I suggest spoofing the build.prop with root explorer so that it looks like a nexus 7 or galaxy nexus. search around the kindle fire 1 forums on how to do that part. it will allow you to download more apps from google play if you installed gapps on your newly rooted kf2.

[Q] Fastboot.exe and adb.exe Help!!!

Please help me.
I'm trying desperately to root my nans brand new kindle fire hd - software version 7.4.9 so that she can access the google play store for the apps she uses as some aren't available on the amazon store.
I have followed your tutorials to the nth degree, downloaded lots of software on to my computer including kff, and binary versions, but each time I try to root her kindle I get the following errors:
fastboot.exe is not responding
adb.exe is not responding.
I then get the error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc00005) Click ok to close the application.
I've tried removing all software and rebooting again. I'm trying to use your software package as shown in your tutorial.
The device is showing in device manager as Android Composite ABD Interface
I'm at my wits end I'm just trying to do something to keep her from being bored and lonely and I feel terrible because I said she should get a fire hd as it would be better for her than her previous table that kept freezing. I don't know why its so difficult as I rooted my other two fire hd's last year no problem!
Please please help me, I'd really appreciate it

Did you enable ADB in Security>ADB? Do you have the right drivers? (There's some in the KFFA folder which I'll mention later) You could also try different USB ports, cables, and Kindle Fire First Aide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888). Also, I don't know if you're talking about Binary or Bin4ry, but try this Bin4ry Root with Restore. It should work too. (http://uploaded.net/file/a1ycrsqj) You're welcome if I helped.
For some reason it makes me think one of the needed dll's adb comes with is missing, or adb just hates your PC.

I have the same issue with a FireTV set top box.
Downloaded kodi from the google play store to my phone, pushed via AKG Fire, when i launch it i get the OBB error Jimmy mentioned.
Fire stick, same error
I'm getting same thing using adbfire, installed Kodi 14 and beta 15.1 and 15.2. I've tried uninstalling and installing multiple times. When launch see Kodi screen for second but then obb not present message. Been googling a fix but nothing so far for fire stick.
Just wanted to mention I have also tried rebooting fire stick and disconnected from adbfire and still get obb not yet present please try later message.
Working
For the guys above, I downloaded Kodi from another site, it is a version 14.2 helix and works great, no more error messages

Apple Music - Android

Installed the apk. Seems to only work in portrait mode. Seems only interesting in Landscape. Please share if anyone knows how to do that.
Not much interaction possible without a mouse, but at least its a start.
Hi,
I've tried sideloading the app for this using ES File explorer on my Fire tv (1st Gen) but I get an "error parsing the package" error and haven't gone any further. How did you manage to get it on your device please?
The same apk worked on my Fire HDX tablet so i know its not corrupted and I thought the OS on the AFTV was ok as it states on the play store its for Android 4.3 and above.
I used adb Fire

Fire Tv 3 4k root or downgrade

First I'd like to say Thank you to all of the people that help us that don't know how to create these mods. I have a new Fire tv 3 4k (at least I think thats what they call it) that has firmware Fire OS 6.2.1.2, Fire Tv Home Version 6.0.1.2-006. Is there a way to root or downgrade the firmware so I can start playing around with the new toy? Thanks in advance.
Nope.
Block updates, wait, and hope. I don't know if anyone is trying to root it. I have tried kingo / king root and no luck. What are you looking to do? You can still side-load apps....

I haven't looked into how to block the updates, but will. I would like to try the v4 "LazyLeanback".
Except that wont work with FireTV 3 at all. Its also very dangerous and stupid to try to use a root tool for something it is not meant for. That's how you break things.

There are forums to explain how to block updates via adbshell. LazyLeanback won't work because it is on a different version of android. The LazyLeanback seemed buggy to me on my fire tv2. I would recommend a Android TV device if you want to go the google TV way.
I have never had an issue with attempting "Universal" root tools, but usually they don't work on updated devices. The fire stick and fire TV were both rooted via universal root tools. That being said there is risk of bricking when attempting root.
Thanks for the replies.

You'll need to connect with adblink first:

Then run this windows batch file to block updates:

I tried to adb the bat file but get an error "ftv0_disable_ota_5242.bat: not found

also tried to apply each line separately but get the error.
could it be that the bat file is for an older firmware?
Open a shell from adblink (make sure you are connected to the fireTV) then run....
adb uninstall -k --user 0 com.amazon.device.software.ota
adb uninstall -k --user 0 com.amazon.device.software.ota.override
It is possible that these were blocked on the latest updates, i haven't tried the newest.

First you have to connect with ADBLink to your device. Then once you're connected you'll have to run the .BAT file from a Windows CMD.exe terminal. If you're not using a direct cable connect remove the -d flag from "adb -d"

is there any way to import on Fire TV 3 self signed CA Cert?

Sounds like you did you not read in the prior posts that AFTV 4K isn't designed for that and if you're looking to root get a an Android set-top box instead... Rooting a AFTV 4K will prob brick the thing.
