Reach of Lineage OS - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hi,
My only query for now is which all devices for now fall under preview of development with Lineage OS team?
I guess loads of queries and rumors are around this topic only considering CM shutdown.
Your response here shall serve as a guide and insight to many XDA users. Chers

Huawei P9 Lite pls ?

I am assuming you are speaking about devices that will support official nightlies? As of right now the rumors are all devices that supported cm13/14...but that is rumors...I am personally waiting to find out what LinOS got to say.

Ubuntu Phone on Fairphone

The community manager of Fairphone asked if anyone is interested to port Ubuntu Touch on the Fairphone... I am not a developer, so I ask here if anyone is interested to work on this project; they assure to support this project with coordination and documentation, read HERE. Anyone want to try to port this system on that phone?

Mmm I don't think they can give around phones, since they produce (for now) only 20.000 pieces. What a pity!

Hi Fairphoner,
well, all you have to to is to wait a little longer and, from time to time, have a look at
wiki dot ubuntu dot com slash Touch slash Devices (sorry, I am not allowed to post outside links yet).
As the Fairphone isn´t the only Mediatek MT6589(m) - based Phone availiable, I am optimistic to see first alpha releases there soon. But "soon" for me means two or three months minimum. So be patient. I think the first Cyanogenmod Release for the FairPhone will be released much earlier. That´s what I am looking forward to.
Cheers

[Q] Porting Sailfish in AScend P6

Hello guys.
As some of you might have already heard, the sailfish 1.0 stable version is out and it is told that it will be ported in every android device. I know that the hardware is pretty different (K3V2 vs Snap 400) so I don't know if this is even possible. If anyone got any news, please share it with us.

Apparently the OP cares. Now if you dont have something useful to say then please don't write useless posts. We really dont care..
Hi Everyone,
I did some thread cleaning. Please remember to always post respectfully, there is really no excuse to flame other users!
Thanks!
Ok, that OS will not reach P6 soon, as he is reaching now for other phones, which are not on Android or iOS.
I'd like this too.

Why? Xiaomi mi2, galaxy s3 and some other chinese phones already got sailfish ported and it will soonly be released for everyone to port it. I don't think P6 is too far from sailfish os.
I'm expecting Sailfish OS to be relatively easy to port since it's able to use android's drivers for hardware. :victory:

Project Treble porting for OP3

Hello everyone,
I've read on XDA Portal an article about Project Treble porting for a Xiaomi device.
Basing on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...pment/research-project-treble-ported-t3744602 I've learned that this porting is possible and some developers are already in it for Xiaomi devices and OP5/5T. Is there someone who could be able to do this? I don't have any type of knowledge about it but I offer myself as tester whenever it would be useful. I'm asking for OP3 developers if they think it could be possible for them too.

Good thing is that a physical /vendor partition isn't mandatory anymore, check this post for reference:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...plus-nokia-wont-project-t3715679/post74800565
Also it seems like the official lineageOS maintainer of op3(t) knows more than we do, seems official "treble support" is coming, let's hope the best:

I personally have a strong feeling that either way, official or unofficial, project treble will be reality for oneplus devices, maybe oneplus surprises us with a "treble goodies" when OOS based on android 8.1 finally drops...

Yeah, I'm also not really confident but at least they evaluate the possibility of implementing "project treble", seeing quite some other OEMs stepping forward (most surprisingly Huawei) is a good sign and puts some healthy pressure by competition on them, in addition the "feared" re-partitioning is kind of obsolete which was the strongest argument against it, let's hope they come up with something, having the 5t not in the "treble - gang" from the get go (that's why they released it as a nougat device) was the deciding factor for me to not buy it, that however shouldn't impress them as they sold more devices than ever in the recent past, they no longer depend on the "core users"...

If it does or it doesn't it won't matter to custom rom devs. Treble was so the oem didn't have to rework their stuff. Aosp based roms change the code at the base.

Of course it was done for OEMs, or better to reduce their difficulties to keep devices up-to-date, to solve a problem as old as Android itself, this however doesn't mean we couldn't use it for another purpose - first developments showed that quite some devices are able to boot GSI, be it native "treble support" or "treble support through modification"...

That's the good thing to my understanding, whenever "big G" drops AOSP sources (i.e. upgrade to android P) every "treble supported" devices should be able to boot the "generic system image" (GSI) as required by Google's CTS...

I dont see roms adding this to their code base. That requires waiting on someone else.
Here is the problem with a GSI and custom roms. To many device dependent changes made to the aosp base. Roms are not gonna stop making these tweaks for the sake of treble.
Ok Big G drops AOSP source. The process is still the same. The rom devs have to take it, rip it apart, start by fixing what google messed up (a yearly task), then add in their own features. Just look at the work it has taken to get aosp to even work right on a device that "supports" treble.
Im not saying that this will never be a thing. Just many outside of the hype pool dont think it will effect 3rd party devs very much. Time will tell.
Maybe this can help you

@dianlujitao
look here -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...opment/discussion-guide-oneplus-5-5t-t3776358
we need all fully binderized HALs to enable Trebble.
Treble support (unofficially if no official support is coming) would be nice to see on the 3/3T now that Android P Beta runs on treble supported devices. OP5/T has unofficial treble support already

Just bought a 3t couple weeks ago from a friend... Really hope that treble will come . Went from Opo to nexus 5x now using 3t
Edit - with treble possibly coming to 3/3t, do you think oxygenos port will be possible? So if OnePlus 5 gets android P could that be ported to the 3/3t users

Fake? Did you even try to check resources?
Oneplus won't bring treble to OP3 since P will be final update. Shouldn't make any sense

I tried to find the source but cant.
Oneplus doesnt need to bring treble to OP3 as developers can easily create a vendor partition. The required blobs and high chance on a brick by resizing the partitions are another story though....

Doesnt mean much as it is not fully functional. Treble is not all that impressive and is not what people were lead to believe. Let alone on one of the worst roms on the site it is not a surprise that things are not working.
As it is initial, there will b fixes for it in future.

Is there anyone who knows that when complete kernel source will get released.
And when will get a custom rom our device.

Care to share which ROM you're in the dev team of? I'm sorry but the one thing being a member of XDA for close to 8 years had taught me is that some people like to lie about being a developer. It's such an inconvenience to other members that want to experience something positive.

Everybody who makes their way to telegram inevitably returns here to ask questions after they broke their phone and get piss poor support there. We suggest you make due with one of the many ROMs developed at XDA.

Wow, what an absolutely phenomenal idea
Just kindly point me towards all of the a11 roms being developed here, or the threads about v30 owners trying to install gsi roms on their phones.
Believe me, if so many of the devs didn't hang out on telegram I wouldn't be there.

You won't really get Android 11. Stick with 10 or deal with the tg crowd. Those are your options on a >3 year old phone with few supporters on XDA and fewer developers.
Wow, just when I thought nothing could be less helpful than your first post...
