How To Build Your Own Kernel?
*Each Step Is Very Important Be Sure To Follow Each Steps And Do As I Said.
*You Are Gonna A 64bit Linux OS Any Will Do I Use Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
*Let's Setup Your Build Environment.
*Open Terminal(ctrl+alt+T).
*Now Type "sudo apt-get update" Then Hit Enter And Let It Complete.
*Refer To This Awesome Guide By @akhilnarang To Automatically Install All The Proprietary Things.
*Where "<name-of-script>" Type "ubuntu1604linuxmint18.sh" If You Have Ubuntu 16.04 Then Hit Enter And Let It Complete.
*You'll Need Kernel Sources Again Open Terminal And Type "git clone https://github.com/ShadowReaper1/android_kernel_asus_Z010D.git" And Let It Complete It'll Take A While Depends On Your Internet Speed.
*Now To Compile The Kernel Download A arm64/aarch64 Toolchain You Can Use Any Gcc 4.9 Toolchain I Prefer Google or UBER Toolchain.
*Open Kernel Directory It Should Be Named Like "android_kernel_asus_Z010D" And Open build.sh And Edit The Parts Where "change" Is Written According To Your Toolchain Path And Cpu Cores After Editing Save It.
*It's Time To Compile The Kernel Open Terminal Inside Kernel Directory And Type "bash build.sh" or "./build.sh" Then Choose The Appropriate Options And Sit Back And Wait For It To Complete And You'll Find Your Kernel.zip inside "base_files" Folder.
*What To Do Next? Flash It .
*Add Features As You Like And Fix Bugs.
*Don't Come To Me Crying How To Add This And That I Won't Help In That Matter See Other Kernel's Of Other Devices With Same Specifications Use That As Reference And Cherry Picks Features From Them Resolve The Conflicts For More Information Refer To This Excellent Guide By @eagleeyetom.

UPDATE
flashed it in my ZE550kl usig twrp
device failed to boot.
After the asus logo, there was nothing but a plain black screen.
I hard to remove battery and reboot to twrp to restore the previous kernal.

Going to install on zenfone laser 550kl
tested:
after flashing device stuck at asus logo
iam using Resurection remix nougat 5.8.0 22nd december build
I also got the plain black screen after asus logo
Then i Flashed my roms boot.img solved

Trying on XOSP N and it's failed. Not even booting. Same case as 2 post above.

The commits in the source code says its for Zenfone Max

both devices are same and we've tested that a compiled kernel from our source works well on ze500kl as well.

I already tried this on cm13 21st snapshoot, didnt work. It wont boot.

It's kernel for Z00ED/Z00RD

550kl and 500kl are different i guess?

I will upload a custom kernel for z00l, in time. Be patient.
The last time I compiled a kernel for linux (pc desktop) was like... 10 years ago, lol. Need some time to get used to the protocol now.
here's a guide, everyone should try their hand at compiling a custom kernel, but make a full phone backup, just in case.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-how-to-build-samsung-kernel-july-t3429355
based on CM13-snapshot-20161221
- gpu adreno idler
- usb fast charging
- i/o scheduler: fiops, sio, tripndroid etc
- tcp congestion westwood, reno etc
work in progress: cpu governor, hotplug
btw, the following phone models uses the same kernel
zd550kl (snapdragon 8939)
ze550kl (snapdragon 8916 or 8939)
ze600kl (snapdragon 8939)

[Kernel][DEV] pax0r kernel v0.4 for LG P350 (Optimus ME, Pecan)

THIS KERNEL IS NOW OBSOLETE, DON'T USE IT.
Mine newest and stable kernel releases are now integrated into my version of CyanogenMod 7.2, please use only a kernel provided with that ROM, not this one.
Im leaving it for historical reason or for some geeks
The testing release of kernel for p350 based on kernel by drapalyuk - taken from kernel and rom + sources
I do not take any resposibility for bricked devices!
This kernel aims to optimize the performance, responsivity and battery life so please share your opinion about these factors and your ideas.
If you are experiencing any problems with WiFi or 3G try much less tweaked but more stable LITE version.
Instalation:
Download zip to your phone
Get the Custom Recovery for p350
Reboot into recovery
Backup your boot partition (if you like risk you can ommit this step )
Choose Flash zip menu
Turn off verification (as I dont signed my kernel yet)
Flash downloaded zip
Reboot and enjoy
Changelog(2.6.32.48 version):
[0.4]
Fixed black screen after wakeup issue
Added vr and sio I/O schedulers (SIO is default)
Added smartassv2 governor
VM_MAX_READAHEAD changed to 512
[0.3]
Kernel version updated to 2.6.32.48
BFS CPU Scheduler
Applied few tweaks from https://github.com/arco/buzz-kernel-2.6.32/
Some other small tweaks (List of applied patches is on github)
Compiled with newest Linaro toolchain with -Ofast flag and tuned to our architecture
LITE version:
For all guys having problems with internet connection on my kernel there is a LITE version.
It contains less tweaks thant normal version but should not have problems with internet. This version is much less tweaked so it should be more stable.
What is in lite version:
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 (not updated)
Smartass v2 governor
SIO and VR IO schedulers (SIO as default)
VM_MAX_READAHEAD changed to 512
Compiled with newest Linaro toolchain with -Ofast flag and tuned to our architecture
If you dont have any problems with 0.4 version I reccomend NOT to install Lite version

Debuging Info
or how to help make it better
If you have any problems with my kernel and you want to help in some way - here it is some info how you can.
Just after apearing of the problem please get logs from your device.
How to do it:
Info on CM wiki how to get Logcat
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Logcat
Info about getting kmesg:
Open Terminal Emulator (or shell with ADB if you know how)
Write the following commands:
Code:
su
cat /proc/kmsg > /sdcard/kmsg.log
There should be new file kmsg.txt on your sdcard. Copy it to your PC.
info about last kmsg after sudden reboot/crash
Same as for normal kmesg but the command now should be:
Code:
su
cat /proc/last_kmsg > /sdcard/last_kmsg.txt
Created file will be named last_kmsg.txt
Attach all logs to your post (prefered way is to use http://pastebin.com/
Of course if you have any programming skills you can tinker with my sources as you wish and send patches to me

I also noticed the 'black screen issue' sometimes and working on it. Drapalyuk fixed it in CM but its not in his sources :/
What versions of ROM (CM, 2.2 etc) do you use?
only angry birds... can't tell any difference but still no fc

I'm using drape's 20.10 rom... and before i would reflash to try and get that black screen took care of but in a couple days it would come back.. and it isnt so bad.. it doesn't really effect anything.. but after flashing your kernel i am getting them less now so thats a plus..
So you know How to compile the kernel
will you try to add more features ???
can you add these features

I will try do as much as I can - thx for some kind of list of 'thigs I should look at'. Few comments I have:
About governors - there will be smartass v2 for sure in next version - I just hadnt time to integrate it in this release (I tested it earlier at it really was smartass )
I/O Schedulers - deadline is quite enough for sd cards, but I will look into this SIO as it is based on deadline - thx for hint. I think rest of them is not needed.
File Systems - do we really need support for them? More supported format means bigger kernel.
"optimized kernel for size" - I prefer optimize for speed and it is done
Thanks again for this list - looks very interesting
Havent find the Governer in the cyanogen Mod ??
do I have to use external apps to select that governer??

The governor does not come with the cyanogen mod ofLG p350. No you can't use external apps to install that governor, assuming it is smartass

I know that Dude
But we need external apps to select which Governer and I/O scheduler to be used even if it is in the boot.img. Not installing but selecting
no-frill app is used in my phone (i9003) it contains all the above items in the list i have specified earlier
Its from i9003 by doomload it contains all the things
https://github.com/DooMLoRD/SGS-SL-i9003
Hm... I can select governor from CM menu (performance -> CPU settings - not sure about english names ; ) but be aware of a fact that there is no smartass here (yet ), just standard ones (ondemand, usersapce, powersave, performance)
Sadly your kernel from i9003 is .35 one an here we have .32 so patches do not apply so easy...
But when I will have more time (Im in the middle of Bsc thesis ) I will try to port some .35 kernel for p350

Thanks for the link and especially thanks for being the first Dev to include kexec hard boot patch for D851 in his kernel
Heh, I managed to screw up my MultiROM setup.
Fusion LP was a tertiary ROM. I decided to flash this kernel against it. Almost 10 minutes and it never finished flashing. TWRP was also frozen.
On restart none of the ROMs would boot. Trying to reselect Fusion in MultiROM would fail and freeze/lock TWRP. Seems the partition with Fusion got corrupted.
Got tired of pulling the battery so wound up restoring primary ROM and will start over with MultiROM.
Just one of those things probably unrelated to the kernel itself.
I should have at least backed up the secondary ROM. Oh well. ?

I'm using it with Fusion as primary ROM with no problems. But flashing fusion itself takes close to ten minutes to flash, and the progress bar shows nothing until it's done. I was already on fusion, then flashed RIN and Multirom.
Never mind.
Working well with Euphoria.
Thanks for a great AOSP kernel

I changed my primary SkyDragon ROM then reflashed kexec kernel and multirom. Discovered my CM11 was still there (cool) then reflashed Fusion.
Flashed RIN kernel but this time I waited. It took much longer than the ROM install.
But all is good. Fusion seems to be running great with RIN.
Thanks.

Kernel is working great
I've used this Kernel on about 3 different LP ROM's (clean flash) and on each of them, the pull down menu appears and freezes after ending calls whether its being made or receiving them. If you are able to get out of the menu, the pull down no longer works. You must reboot for everything to return to normal...
Nothing says great batterylife except when it tells me 1 day 19 hours and hasnt been on a charger since 8 am
Nice kernel exelent battery and no complains for now ?
Been off charger all day with light use and its still going strong

I've used this Kernel on about 3 different LP ROM's (clean flash) and on each of them, the pull down menu appears and freezes after ending calls whether its being made or receiving them. If you are able to get out of the menu, the pull down no longer works. You must reboot for everything to return to normal...

Done a few clean flashes since I started using this kernel but I'm not having this problem...

[KERNEL][5.1.1/6.0.0][GCC 5.3] Omni kernel (06/03/2016)

Overview:
This is a custom kernel based on Omni sources for our legendary i9000. This is only for 5.1.1/6.0.1 roms and no other version of android will be suppported
It works on any Omni based 5.1.1/6.0.1 rom.
>The zip you will download is flashable via recovery.
>> Use devil kernel manager or NStools to edit the kernel settings.
Features : - Multiple CPU governors (lulzactive, smartassV2, wheatley, lagfree, ondemandX)
- Tweaked smartassV2
- BFQ, Zen, VR & SIOPLUS I/O schedulers added
- Tweaked VR
- New TCP algorithms (westwood is default)
- Bigmem, up to 430mb
- CMA (MM only for now)
- Kernel compressed with XZ
- Compressed initramfs
- Dynamic page writeback
- Dynamic Fsync
- Custom ARM & INT voltages
- Voltages fixed for more stable OC
- Selectable GPU OC (not working properly for now)
- Fast charge
- BLX
- Live OC
- FULL O3 optimisations
- Call volume hack
- Touchwake
- BLN
- Zram
- Swap / Zram optimisations
- LMK tweaks
- SLQB memory allocator
- NEON optimized crypto routines
- Voodoo color
- SquashFS support (module)
- EXfat support (module)
- 720p patched bigmem libs
- Built from the latest Omni source
- Built using custom Cortex-A8 optimized UBERTC 5.3 toolchain of @Cl3Kener
Todo:- Backport more things from higher linux versions and fix remaining conflicts ...
- Fix GPU OC ... Well we have live OC, not worth the time i guess.
- Make CGROUP_TIMER_SLACK work
- GPU driver to DDK [email protected]
- Make a better (and more fancy) updater script
- Fixing the remaining issues [...]
What I wont do : - Enable TV out
- Upgrade linux version
- Add useless CPU governors or I/O schedulers
- make your phone as fast as a i9500
Please use it at your own risk! I am not responsible for any damage that may occur to your device.

Thanks for sharing ! I really want to check this kernel out, can someone tell me what is the recommended Omni LP release to be used with this kernel? A link in PM or a reply would be great.

This kernel works with Code rom 5.1.1 the latest build and mostly everything work perfectly. However, to test this i ported it to my good old vibrant. The only issue is since Im guessing devil kernel manager doesnt support vibrant cant seem to change any values in devil. Thanks for building this kernel

Assuming you used the kernel source (github.com/omni) to port to the vibrant, you won't have any options other than bigmem. The source code linked there doesn't have things such as Fast Charge, etc.
However, you can see if support for them is there by manually putting a "1" in the file /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge
(ie echo 1 > /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge from a terminal/adb shell).
Also, look out for selinux issues. If selinux is in enforcing mode, the Devil Manager may or may not be able to access the sysfs paths. Run "setenforce 0" to put it to permissive mode.
Speaking of source code, @Coldwindofnowhere have you uploaded the complete kernel source you used somewhere? I'd be curious to see it. Thanks for taking this project on!

I didnt use the source code to do anything just replaced the boot image with that of vibrant and it seemed to boot up just fine and i could switch between smartass v2, and other addition. the only thing cant change the bigmem option over xl. It was just random since i have no clue how to build stuff.

Ah, ok. I could be wrong, but I think if you replaced the boot.img with one from the Vibrant, then you're not even using the kernel from here. Weird that you still had the smartassv2 option...
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me
431mb ram possible??

Im not sure either because i have all govenors mentioned above while i can tweak everyone of them using kernel aditor apk and plus i can also toggle fast charge which wasnt present in omni rom for the vibrant. I have uploaded some screenshots and it is from code rom.

Sure, i'll set a github soon, but trust me there are only minimal changes to the origianl code (even if adding liveOC seems harder since i only got build errors xD).
Btw i won't build anything this week, i'm busy with exams.

Hey.
I tested it on 5.0.2 . stuck on bootanimation. Better mention that its for 5.1.1 .
Can you add support or please tweak it for 5.0.2
Now iam using RR lp 5.0.2
I removed some apps. And it have the same apps like omni. Its works faster than ever. Working theme engine. Only removed music and added apollo.
Has anyone have a bug where when you call someone the speaker mode work fine but the audio stops working when you turn off speaker mode
I had no problem with original omni kernel any fix because this is an awesome kernel

That's weird, i haven't changed anything concerning the audio in the kernel. You're using it on a vibrant right ? This might be the problem. I'm gonna try to reproduce this bug on my i9000 and see ....

Unzip, copy to phone, then flash kernel via TWRP (select "Install Image", point to BOOT partition), re-flash SuperSU (ver. SR5 for Oreo) if you use it, reboot directly.
(Note: if you need to revert to original kernel, extract boot.img from the rom)
If you use Magisk (14.3 for Oreo), refer to this thread 1st post - Installation Instructions, section "If you're not rooted, or something went wrong and you need a clean start"

Kernel source, it's from LineageOS 15.0
tested successfully on LineageOS-v15, AospExtended, XenonHD but bear in mind the sources are from LineageOS 15.0, if it doesn't work or get cranky on your AOSP rom, revert to your original boot.img (found inside your rom.zip)
After flashing kernel, configure using Kernel Adiutor
if you can't wait, maybe try your hand in compiling a kernel, full workflow HERE

My Android Tools (use this app to disable background services)
Interested users may follow below threads to manage background services
[GUIDE] Stop Google Play Services Wakelocks (AppMeasurement, net_scheduler, etc.)
Another post to help pinpoint unnecessary background services
I use all of the above, plus microG, to remove Google Play Services totally, this require SigSpoof support on the ROM you are using.
But if the ROM do NOT have SigSpoof support, simply patch it with NanoMod-patcher-14.4.20171014.zip from NanoMod, patch it using TWRP immediately after flashing your ROM, patching might take 5-15 mins.

working for LineageOS 15 build 1017
Kernel Adiutor, CPU, governor Interactive, with Hotplug AutoSMP, will turn off unused cpu cores. Must configure as described in post #2
Thank you so much <3
Thanks for the kernel. May I know how's the performance of this kernel compare to stock lineageOS 15 kernel? I'm using snapdragon 615 variant
when properly configured as described in post #2,
hotplug AutoSMP will turn off unused CPU cores, lineageos default kernel will run all 4 cores non stop coz it uses touch boost & inefficient msm performance hotplug
the interactive governor will increase CPU clock speed & activate more cores as load increases, but as load goes down, will turn off cores & reduce clock speed to minimum
details in post #2
as lineageos 15 is in alpha stages, performance & battery endurance will differ across builds
my observations
build 0922 have just slightly better battery endurance than build 1017, but the ROM is progressing in other areas, so its a good tradeoff
hope the ROM goes to stable status soon
Please add KCal color control and faux audio
will only add battery related commits to kernel
BTW, use better battery stats (bbs) to check for abnormal battery drainage
anything below 0.5%/hr is very good for idle drain overnight
bbs must be set to "not optimized" under battery optimization
my screenshot shows idle drain of 0.3%/hr overnight, with WiFi on, no GPS, approx 11 hours, on lineageos 15 Oreo build 0922, no gapps, microG only with Playstore, Google Calendar, Drive, Keep & WhatsApp
WhatsApp is "Not Optimized" (battery)
Brevent mode is "Standby, the Force-Stop"
microG GCM ping is 15 mins for all network types
my custom kernel configured as post #2
I know its not battery related but pls add color control and faux audio it will be great.. or start a new thread and make a new kernel that include everything... pls brooo... hopefully waiting
Does fast charging require a separate quick charge compatible charger? Or is the stock charger enough?
I was reading about it online but I'm not sure whether this fast charging and Quick Charge 2.0 are one and the same.
fast charge is just normal USB charging, but with slightly higher voltage
quick charge support for Asus Zenfone is totally ZERO!!! It is not implemented by Asus on the Zenfone 2 series

Okay thanks for the quick reply, I was confused as the Snapdragon processor seemed to support QC 2.0 but I doubted the existence of QC 2.0 battery charging circuitry here.
Btw Great Work with this kernel, we finally don't have to run all four cores all the time now.
@pokipokipxorn thank you for your amazing work
I just wanna request that if you could make a profile in kernal auditor with all the tweaks applied and make it available in the thread that we can download and easily import to our kernal auditor
It will be lot easier and will avoid confusion
Thank you:angel:

For shorter charging times, consider using a short micro-USB cable. I am using a 6 inch cable, charging time is much quicker.

Okay thanks, I'll see if I can get my hands on one
What toolchain do you use to compile this kernel? Is it still the uber-4.9 one? Would the GCC 7.2.1 GNU one be fine? What about Linaro?
Edit: Ok I got an answer to first question, you're using the uber-4.9 one (kernel adiutor), but can we use Linaro? Do you think it'll work?

this is unbelievable a custom kernel for our device many thanks and huge respect God bless you brother. i have 1 request too please try to build Linux 4.9 kernel for this device too in future if you can (maybe it's too much to ask but it's only a request)
ram management is good due to inclusion of swap partition (1gb) and battery seems to be draining fast
Hi, i never used a Kernel before. I used lots of roms but I dont know what is kernel and why is it important. Anyways.
I was wanting to use KCAL app, it seems it's working with it. I have some questions.
1- how to back up my own kernel, so if I want to restore it I can go back to my original kernel.
2- is it just some kind of backend thing, if I install this it will not act like a rom and reset all the data on my phone right?
3- somebody says it have battery drain problem above in the comments. I don't care about battery drain so much but how it drains, like 1% per 2 or 3 minutes is okay but if it's less than this it won't be okay for me.
4- as I said above, I will use it for KCAL app, is there similar great things that I can do with custom kernel? I don't know much about it.
That's all. Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks
