Does anyone use an Android watch? Any recommendations if you do. Was interested in buying one but no idea which one

As of right now, I'd suggest the Huawei watch. Though, if I were you, I'd wait. A whole bunch of new Android wear watches are probably about to be released. Android wear 2.0 is about to come out with a whole bunch of new features, and a bunch of new watches should follow to support these new features.

I am using the Moto 360 2nd gen with my oneplus 3t... Everything working fine! no problems

I have the zenwatch2 and love it.but I also echo the above comments. I would wait it out a month or two and see what's new coming.

Huawei Watch and everything work good

I read that the Huawei watch will get Android wear 2.0 features via update. So possible just new hardware and new designs?

Huawei watch or wait...

I'm quite happy with my Sony Smartwatch 3:
- cheap (you can easily find it for ~100€ on Amazon
- I can easily get a full solid day off the battery

i'm using a samsung gear s3 frontier along with my OP3T. notification works well. i can answer calls but I cannot text on the watch (not that I want to). spotify controller works well, and I can read flipboard articles on the watch to pass time.

Huawei watch is pretty good, tho mic and voice commands seems to be worse than on the other watches. Maybe because mic is located underside of the watch, where the band connects. I have been using Android wear 2.0 beta for some time already, and really liking it, much smoother than old version. But Google is propably gonna announce new watches soon, Android wear 2.0 stable is coming in next month. If you find a really good deal for Huawei watch or others, then maybe buy now, but otherwise I would wait and see the new ones which are coming.

No love for the Asus Zenwatch 3 in here?

I've been using a Sony Smartwatch 3 ever since it was launched and wouldn't change it for anything else. I tried a Huawei Watch for a couple of days and it wasn't as comfortable. Furthermore, I use it as a GPS running watch and it pairs with any BT Smart HRM without any issue. Nice to go for a long run without a phone when you have GPS, MP3-player and HRM on your wrist.

I would recommend the Samsung Gear S3 ,or even the Gear S2 ,the software is superior to Android wear in my opinion .

I'm planning on getting a gear s3 frontier with my 3T. How is the compability? Any significant limitations compared to pairing it with a Samsung phone?

Anyone miss a call notification once and a while?
Ill notice Ill get a missed call on my watch and it never vibrated

Using Gear S3 Frontier and the only thing i might miss is google assistant unless sammy updates the gear s3 with their own rumoured assistant Bixby.
The rotating bezel, the battery life, and the simple OS are major wins.
and with samsung pay about to launch in India its a major win because of MST.

Gosh, I hope so. I seriously doubt Android Wear 2 is simply too strenuous on the processors to not be ported. I understand the TI processor in it is rather proprietary and no other Wear devices use it, but I can't believe Wear 2 would warrant new hardware.
I don't think I'll be able to buy another moto product again. I just don't trust them anymore to do things right. I own a nexus 6 and that has a screen flicker when charging, red tint on low brightness, and a speaker that crackles on low battery. I'm on my second moto 360 due to a cracked back (seriously glass back? Are you kidding me?) and the one I have now has a cracked back too after a few months. The first one was due to my wrist movements cracking it, and the second due to the metal band hitting the glass back. I hate apple products just because they are overpriced, have terrible batteries, and the screen is designed to break when dropped. HOWEVER, Apple is #1 at supporting their products until the very end with software updates and they never have an issue that isn't caused by user error (even tho the media says the bend on iphones is an issue, that only happens to the stupid people who throw their phones and sit their fat rear end on them constantly).
Hopefully one of you awesome developers out there ports it over for us. Otherwise I think I may be done with smart watches for a while. The only good looking one is the huawei watch but its too expensive and doesn't have 4g. The lg watch urbane has an LTE model... But it is ugly.
Oh android makers and their obcession with shooting themselves in the foot...

Moto support comes 2nd place in the worst support after Apple, now that lenovo owns Motorola. Things just went from bad to worse
"Motorola has confirmed that the original Moto 360 will not be receiving the Android Wear 2.0 update"

As mentioned before; hopefully some developer will fix this anyway.

I would typically rip on Samsung and their lack of updates, but I really can't because their only android wear watch got the 1.5 update and they don't even support android wear anymore!
So does anyone have any plans to port 2.0 over?
I would be eternally grateful.
That's the support early adopters get from Motorola... none. Us users who had to go through cracked backplates, screen burns, software glitches and patches will not get further official support. Team Moto -10 points.

is not that easy.
main problem is that you would need to flash it through the factory cable (I think 2% moto 360 users have one)
second, this watch is based on TI OMAP cpu, and is the only one with this SoC. porting without a similar device is hell. and this porting would make happy 2% moto users. not worth
G watch is more likely going to have a porting, it has standard s400 SoC.
fortunately I never sold my g watch, battery and performance is much better than moto 360.....
go on guys, buy next one or wait for qualcom 2100 chips for wearables

Only an issue if Wear 2.0 requires new kernel features. As long as the changes are only in userland, the specific SoC is not that big a deal.
Adding my voice to the choir, happy to contribute towards some smart Moto 360 hacker doing the port when the time comes.
I get that I can continue to use the watch with old firmware, but then I'd have different UI's on my different watches and it would get very confusing. I just want latest Wear on all of them. These ultra-short support cycles go against the grain especially for watches. Big thumbs down to Moto/Google on this one.

I wouldn't say it's short, it just hit the 2 years standard support. it's time to drop. maybe we bought it recently and we're disappointed (I bought it 6 months ago. and I felt a 6 month support) but is definitely not short

Looking to upgrade my Moto 360 1gen.. Suggestions?

I have had a Moto 360 since it fist came out and I love the idea but I would really like a android wear 2.O device or maybe Samsung OS for there smartwatches but I can't make up my mind any suggestions? Hawaiwi is kinda on my list not but I've been trying to research everything out there not just the Android ones even tho I am a android fan boy. What do you guys think of some of the other options like Samsung OS or pedal and the few others they have compared to Android wear. Well hope to hear from some of you and to me a micro or C usb would be plus to me I'm a root junkie but not a deal breaker it is a watch. Thanks hope this was a good spot for the post

i had and still have my moto 360 but now have the samsung gear s3 and that is way better than the 360 apart from the lack of good apps , but that should get better hopefully , battery life is good and get just over 3 days with moderate use , so the s3 is worth looking into as well.
Thanks in gonna try and wait a sec to see what the new year brings but in getting impatient

Same here. The moto 360 convinced me that smartwatches are awesome. I love the new gear s3, demo I saw was awesome. But no Verizon support kills it for me. Well, that and the limited apps. However, the Samsung pay feature on a watch is so cool and 10x better than android pay will ever be which pretty much makes up for lack of apps.
If Verizon ever gets the gear s3, I'm gonna be a day 1 customer. What really sucks in the smartwatch market is that if google and Samsung worked together, the app support would be so much better and smartwatches would have been mainstream by last year.

Which watch

What's going to be the best watch for Pixel thinking about going with the Galaxy watch but I don't know how well they woul work together
The Galaxy watch works best with a Samsung phone user especially if they are actually using Samsung software. It's got great multiple day battery life, doesn't look cheap.
Ticwatch Pro has it's secondary display so it can go into it's super low power mode. It does very little in that mode and I didn't find it of any use but if your itinerary includes setting off on a 10 day camping trip with 20% watch battery remaining having forgot to charge it's the only smart watch that will still be lit up after that ten days. It does have legitimate all of a long day power though which with Android is really the best you can hope for unless you get the Galaxy watch. Overall this watch is my preferred watch over the 2 I've mentioned so far and the next one.
Fossil sport gives you the latest but still old Wear OS processor. It doesn't help in any way I could discern with performance or battery life. Comes in two sizes but only the bezel gets bigger, screen remains the same. I liked this one but nothing much about it stands out.
So those are the ones I've tried recently. I'd go Ticwatch Pro if choosing among them. The Galaxy is the best hardware hands down but you have a very limited app selection and it works best with Samsung phones which I don't have right now. I don't have much bad to say about the Fossil but don't have much good to say about it either. It lacks the Ticwatch party trick and in my use had slightly worse battery life.

Best watch is the Samsung Galaxy! It will work perfect! I have one.
I am thinking about getting 3a XL. I do love my Nexus 6, but 3a, might be faster.
As much as I prefer wear OS over tizen, I will say that my Galaxy S3 classic works pretty well. The battery life is decent, having Samsung pay is nice without bogging down my phone software, and app support has gotten better. If it weren't for the abysmal battery life and decent selections for decent wear OS devices, I would be on one in a heartbeat. I had the ZTE quartz from T-Mobile, which was actually a pretty great watch for the price, but we all know what happened with ZTE and software updates are non-existent sadly, and it seems 3rd party development has halted entirely.
Tizen is really the only decent software offering right now, considering the hardware it runs on. Hopefully, Google can convince oems to make more decent wear OS devices, but I'm not holding my breath for it, sadly.
Galaxy watch has better battery life over s3. Over anything and is the most water proof.
I got lucky. Almost bought an S3. SO glad I didn't!
Been using my huawei smartwatch2 with 3axl. No issues yet and all notifications seem to be working fine

I will most likely get one very soon. It's in my cart. Still no TWRP. Unicorn ROM is available. Can be rooted. The thing that scares me is the bad reviews on the screen. Dimmer than a regular Pixel and not very good image quality some say.
Android Q beta available for all Pixel devices.
Nasty bug in Q for Samsung Galaxy watch plugin though.

twrp is being worked on and should be released unofficially soon(look in the twrp thread)
the screen is fine tbh and honestly until twrp is out im sticking to rooted stock as its the easiest to deal with, i personally dont have any issues with the screen, its plenty bright outside in direct sunlight and the thing is color calibrated from the factory also image quality meaning pictures? if so then it's literally the same camera module as the pixel 3/xl just without that image processor so snapchat can't use hdr+ enhanced but the google camera can still so its really a non issue
just go to a tmobile store or verizon store or best buy and check the phone out(assuming you are in the states) before buying it yourself, frankly im getting tired of seeing notches and pin holes in displays so i mainly got the 3a xl just because it didnt have those and the fact that its a google phone(so i know its gonna be a decent buy regardless)

GWA2 --> WearOS?

Did a search and didn't see anything other than a thread from 2018 that didn't seem to go anywhere. Also, if this is against forum rules...my bad!
To the point! I recently bought both the GWA2 and the Fossil Gen5 to test against each other and then return the one I least preferred. My problem is, I MUCH prefer the hardware and look of the GWA2 (slightly larger screen, more minimal look, better battery life, no crown/button that constantly activates when I bend my wrist, and with the upcoming ECG/EKG - more health tech). The problem is, I really dislike the Tizen OS and feel the WearOS integrates a lot better with my Pixel4. I realize this is completely subjective, but have to believe I'm not the only one to come to this conclusion.
I guess I have a few questions: Is it possible and if so, is there any appetite for this port? Obviously all the other concerns I have would be contingent on whether or not it could be done, but if so would it retain all or most of the device functionality as with Tizen and would the move to WearOS significantly change the battery life?
I'm not a developer of any kind and it's been years since I've even been interested in rooting/flashing any of my phones. Should I just return both of them and hope that Google will do something with Fitbit next year instead?! /s
Thanks in advance!
Just an opinion here but I've had both tizen OS and wear OS watches and I'll tell you right now the wear OS was a much better experience. Especially if your not pairing The tizen Watch with a Samsung phone. The second you connect that tizen watch to a non Samsung phone, about half of the capabilities of the watch no longer work correctly and some of the apps that come stock on the watch actually get removed upon connection. Messaging will not be seamless with the tizen watch. You will miss things. And Bixby is next to useless compared to Google Assistant. Also, if you look at the Samsung App Store the selection is pathetic compared to what is available for Wear OS. At Samsung you only find half finished apps that most of the time don't work. Not enough developers working on apps for Samsung watches because there a dead end. The comparison between the two stores is laughable. Samsung will never catch up. Go ahead and check it out for yourself search the Samsung store for almost anything and you'll find one or two choices available that probably don't work . search the the Google Play Store with the same term and you'll get hundreds of choices. After owning wear OS and switching to tizen I was so frustrated with all the problems I ended up giving it away. Not worth the space on my wrist lol
Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
Yeah, the Samsung app store is utterly useless. The few apps it does have are half baked at best. It's a real shame that there's no way to load WearOS on this watch, because it is MUCH nicer (IMO) than the Fossil Gen5 (and by extension any other WearOS watch). I really expected there to be a robust desire on the development front to get WearOS on this watch, because the overall design is great and practically screams for something other than Tizen.
I did keep it over the Fossil, which I ended up returning. There are simply too many warts with the hardware to make it an enjoyable experience, which is a shame because the software is so much more integrated when using it with a Pixel.

any news on flashing Huawei watch fit 2 to wear os?

I bought that watch because i heard that there is app gallery in it. i bought it, opened it, and was surprised that there is only about 9 apps available on app gallery!
useless apps! i think of selling that watch to buy a wear os watch yet still underwhelmed of the their battery. It sucks!. on the other hand, Huawei watches' batteries are phenomenal. so i have some questions:-
- is there a way to root or flash the os of my Huawei watch fit 2? (i have never flashed a software before, so I am a newbie
- if not, will there be anytime sooner or later?
- if not, which wears os watch would recommend me to buy( I prioritize battery life, and third party apps availability of course)
thanks
I'm researching this too, there are very few applications, there is not even a calendar, a so-called smart bracelet Huawei definitely don't buy it, it's garbage
forum is dead no one seems to be
Does anyone know about this, this clock needs to be revived huawei watch fit 2
