Performance - HTC Desire 530 Questions & Answers

Bought and rooted my HTC Desire 530 a few months ago and and I've been looking/waiting for a custom ROM, however its not looking very promising at this point. My device is super slow and its annoying. I kinda feel like I wasted money on this the thing. Anyone know any good apps/tweeks to overclock the CPU on this thing for better performance?

Glad im not the only one that sees this.
Just bought this on boxing day for $200 from the shop because the specs sounded pretty decent and it takes nano sim which i have (didnt want to get a new sim card and/or number) and destroyed the phone i had.
First app i installed was advanced task manager and before i even started to install any other apps and what not i was getting "CPU LAGGING" pop ups from Adv TskMngr and it would momentarily cease to respond to any touches or button presses for a good 2 seconds then slowly load each icon/widget one at a time.
I came here looking for a root guide but now im not so sure. Did rooting yours make it worse or improve it?

Ya know... I bought the phone because I knew there was an existing exploit to root and I could install Xposed framework. I mostly bought it to play Pokemon Go with an Xposed module active that helps out with certain things. SafetyNet detects unlocked bootloader on my G5 so I can't play PoGo on it ?. With that said, I rooted the Desire 530 right away but doubt it was any faster prior to root.

In regards to the sluggish performance, the biggest speed improvement I noticed was when I switched from the stock HTC launcher to Nova Launcher.
I don't think HTC spent much time at all optimizing the code for theirs.

Hey guys,
I've been generally pleased with the performance of the Desire 530 after rooting, installing Xposed and tweaking the kernel.
Wanted to let you know that I will be beginning development for the Desire 530 by next week at the earliest. Currently in the process of setting up my build environment once again and cleaning out all the spider webs..
Stay Tuned.

Xposed v87 and Xposed Installer 3.1.1 and everything is working flawlessly thus far. Everything has been obtained from XDA as it is a trusted source.
Only using a few modules at the moment as I am slowly testing compatibility.
If you have any other questions just let me know.

Sure! I have uploaded the requested files to my Dropbox and the links are below.
Xposed v87 - SDK23
Xposed Installer 3.1.1
Xposed Uninstaller
Remember that Xposed v87 and Xposed Uninstaller should be flashed through TWRP or CWRP. Flash the Xposed .Zip first and once booted to system install Xposed Installer 3.1.1.
If you have any questions you can catch me on Hangouts at any time by messaging me(AndroidSamurai).

By the way, getting back on the subject of Device Development.
I will be building LineageOS and/or CyanogenMod for the Desire 530 once my build environment is setup and updated.
Keep in mind that the last time I did ROM development was in 2008(HTC G1) since I co-created the first custom rom so I might be rusty. I will be writing more posts/guides until that time comes and will be looking for help.

I installed Xposed Installer via apk normally (not in TWRP) and it worked fine for me. No need to flash. On reboot Android updated its cache so it took a long time, but was easy. Thanks!

You're welcome!
Yeah, the cache rebuild is the most troublesome issue with this device(because of the slower speeds).
If you are an Audiophile like myself I'd also recommend you install Viper Arise as well. There is a trick to installing it so if you think it's for you and have issues just let me know.

Xposed and 2.10.401.1

Is anyone running Xposed v69 on the latest WWE stock rom?
I've tried a few times today to flash romracer's Xposed v69 arm64 sdk22 zip and it just ends in a stalled boot (the HTC One bootscreen is displayed and it halts there for over 30 minutes). Forcing a reboot and flashing the Xposed uninstaller zip gets me booting again.
Xposed logs aren't written to the usual location and I'm not at home to try and capture a logcat during boot.
Is anyone successfully using that version of Xposed on 2.10.401.1?
I'm unlocked and S-OFF, so it's probably unrelated to that.
Thanks for any input.

Anyone else actually get v69 working on a 5.1 stock rom? It seems it works for some in romracer's thread and not others.

I could be wrong but I'm sure I have read somewhere of issues (and bootloops) when the Xposed framework is installed on S-OFFed devices.
I'm on the train right now and the connection is cr..., well, very slow. I would have searched and linked all relevant threads otherwise.
You may want to search the forum yourself for further information.
Cheers.

I just found this thread. Have a look: it could be the solution to your problems.

Thanks for that. This looks promising. I have the files in question in /data and /system. I'll try this later on tonight as I need my phone up and running all day today.
This does seem like something that should be reported to romracer or rovo89 though. I'll do so if it solves my problem.

[AFTV Stick] Xposed is possible?

Hi is there any way to get xposed framework working on a rooted AFTV Stick? I know there isn't a custom recovery to flash the zip file, will it be possible to do it through a script?
What to do after rooting? Is it possible to replace amazon launcher? Will it improve user experience? I'm not using any amazon services, just kodi. Debloating is possible?
Many thanks!

Yes it is possible to do both these things if you want/need to do this though I'd Google it, I would not want or feel comfortable telling you how because without a working recovery you may/ possibly will end up with a bricked device? Rbox is working on a recovery & posted pictures on AFTVNews & here on XDA forums showing a preview of the boot screen, but it won't be released just yet & doesn't want to be pressured on a release date. There was another forum member on here saying he wants to make a custom rom based off rboxs prerooted rom, so my advice would be hold off until at least a recovery has been released then if anything doesn't go to plan a backup can be re applied. Plus now the latest updates have blocked certain rooting methods you should think wisely before jumping in feet first.

It "can" be done.... but common users of xposed framework will tell you that any module or an update from a module could be unstable & bootloop your device, if you want to install Xposed like I said in my comment just use Google I found a way without using a recovery within minutes of typing.... but it's not recommend, thats why I didn't leave a link.

What module update has looped a device? With xposed comes a certain amount of risk, but it's not like flashing a rom or zip in recovery...

If you have used custom ROMs, rooted phones & tablets in the past, xposed firmware on various devices & have modded zips, files or deblote your system & or used custom recoverys you will know that bootloops can come from time to time, so not using a recovery is a bit like jumping out of a plane without a parachute!

How else would you suggest to install custom roms on the Fire 7" tablet that doesn't have an installable recovery? I don't disagree that recovery>flashfire, but it works well for many people.

All I'm saying is that it may work fine today, tomorrow & maybe next week.... but at some point it's possible that you could come across a bootloop when you least expect it due to Xposed or by deleting a system dependent app, then you have a unrecoverable device? Its not recommend to use without a working recovery & ideally a backup if possible? There is risks involved, if you choose to take the risks that's fine but make sure you know there could be dire consequences, that's why it's best that if you do don't involve others with links or threads saying "this works fine" or other forum members are left with non working devices because they didn't know the risks. A little while back a few users on this forum installed Kingroot & the then tried to install Super Sume or Super Sume Pro to swap for the Super Su by chainfire which resulted in a few users being left which bricked devices (aftv2 boxes) with no way back! Because of poor advice, some said yes it works & after rebooting the device hanged on the bootscreen & never got anywhere since! Hence the be careful posts regarding all this installing Xposed framework without thinking first.
Hope this helps

Just wait a little bit, recovery is on the way for the fire stick, like I said before don't mess with this or you could end up with a fire stick stuck in a bootloop! Use at your own risk. Here's the proof it's on its way, then you can have a working xposed on a fire stick with recovery & a prerooted rom.
Look here if you don't believe me -

what could one possibly want from xposed besides youtube ad blocker? that is all i can think of really anything else that could be useful on a tv stick?
Well there is loads, but the main one most use is the Google Play Store which is only usable with Xposed installed

Well its possible to downgrade fire stick so is there a su version that could replace kingoroot super user with 5.0.5?
As flashify uses su and xposed could be installed through that.

Official Viper4android audio mods for Pixel XL

I have been running the Viper4android Official app and it works great. This is not my work and are the work of Guitardedhero and not myself. I"am just posting this because there is not an original Viper4android thread running in the pixel xl forum.
There is some weta version but that is a whole different animal and I"am sure there are others like myself that really like the Official version of the Viper4android app.
Any way there are two versions the first uses the ViPER4Android+2.4.0.1+by+guitardedhero+20170101.zip which is 2.4.0.1 which is the one that I prefer myself.
The second is ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip which is 2.5.0.5 which yes it is a newer version but as I posted I myself prefer the previous version as I like that app a lot more.
I believe both use the same drivers so I imagine they both should be very comparable in quality of sound I just prefer the set up of the previous app.
They both are pretty easy to set up just flash the zip in Twrp recovery then boot system and you need to use an app like Root browser to go in to vendor then etc then rename the audio_effects.conf file to audio_effects.conf.bak you do this on both versions.
Then open the Viper4android app that was installed by flashing the zip in recovery and you should be prompted to install the drivers so install them then if not prompted to reboot reboot manually then go back in to the app to make sure the drivers stuck and survived the reboot as changing that file renaming it should allow the drivers to stick and survive rebooting or powering off and back on.
Once again as I listed this is not my work I"am only making it easy for pixel xl users to find and run the Official Viper4android as its an awesome mod and this was all made to work on Nougat by guitardedhero which all the credit and thanks goes to him.
Here is a download link to flash in recovery for the 2.4.0.1 version below

And here is a download link to flash in recovery for the newer 2.5.0.5 version
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4OZ02mkOdQlaGZhdHh2VEtwNzA/view?usp=sharing
Any questions just ask but its pretty much a simple process to do and an awesome sound mod.
Enjoy as I have been.
Edit: If you would like the source link of where I got this mod its at the link right below this.

I actually had tried the latest one first then tried the previous and the previous used the drivers from the latest, so yeah I think the drivers are pretty common and shared amongst most Viper4android mods.
Hope you like it as I sure do. I just prefer the first version I listed over the latest one.
I didn't flash any audio mods I just tried the first zip & drivers installed automatically by flashing zip in TWRP, was surprised about that.
I do like it thanks for sharing.

So when you opened the Viper4android app it didnt opt for you to install the drivers ?
If so that is odd since not using any other audio mod. Glad you like it. May I ask which did you opt for the first version or the newer one ? I like the first one myself it seems a lot easier to set up the way you want at least to me it does.
I had posted before asking if anyone got the Official Viper4android to work and no one posted they did. I came across it a while back and after running it for a while I figured I would share it since no one else posted a method to use the Official Viper4android app and I have used it on many models of phones over the years so I was really missing it.
So I"am hoping many more try it out because it is pretty awesome to run.
That's right opened app drivers were enabled, I was like what!? I've tried before on previous firmware no go, not sure if latest March security update made that happen or kernel which I doubt but just by flashing ViPER4Android+2.4.0.1 worked!
I was making sure I was on pixel xl device ? ? that was Too! Easy.
The zips made by Guitardedhero install the drivers when you flash them, and there is no further need to install the drivers from the app itself. Also, installing the drivers from the app FAILS on the Pixel, which is why you must flash a v4a zip that flashes the drivers too.

That is odd because his instructions on line list that the app will install the drivers. I remember the app installed them for me when I added after the feb security update was added but after I addded the march update and flashed the zip the app did not install it either unless the drivers survived the march update being added, so honestly I cannot really say either way, but as I listed his instructions on line do list the app will install the drivers.

i've been using his zips for quite a while, and the drivers have always been flashed with the zip, not from the app.

What I posted works just fine. If your purpose was to contradict my post then why did you not post one of your own before I did. Trying to contradict my thread is just uncalled for, and posting another link on my thread is like someone posting a rom thread link on another persons rom thread and not a very respectable thing to do.
And for the record I have been flashing the official Viper4android mod on Htc phones for years and the app always installed the drivers as my pixel xl 128 did when I first used this mod.
Also my Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 both on Nougat installed the drivers through the app for this mod also.
Both downloads are actually the 2.4.0.1. Can THE OP fix this?

Actually I have been running the official Viper4android for years on quite a few Htc phones with great success. I just finally started it on my pixel xl 128 about a month and a half ago I was just waiting for someone on pixel xl forum to list it was working for them. I even had a thread up asking if anyone knew how to get the official version to work on pixel xl and no one had any clue about it either way mentioning that weta thing but I was only after the official Viper4android because having ran it for years nothing else will do, and I was under the assumption that it would not work on pixel xl but trying it I figured out it works fine on ours.
I was just surprised there was not a larger following on here for the Official Viper4android, as the Htc devs all go all out for it as on the Htc 10 forum. I"am just glad to get it working as it sucked being without it lol.
Flashed but no app
I just flashed 2.5 in recovery but I did not see the app when my pixel xl rebooted. Do I have to manually download the application from the play store?
*Edit* Fixed it by flashing the newer version of ViperFX_2.5.0.5_by_guitardedhero_20170213

Anyone got xposed running?

Installed the latest sdk26 and installer v 3.1.4. Installer says that framework is installed but not active. Xposed apps dont start/work.

I see you have an AOSP based rom tho. Xposed always had little trouble working on those. I wonder if anyone with stock or stock-ish ROM got it working. I tried, but as of right now, just like xposed dev said, it bootloops. I guess I will wait for something stable.

Really? Well, I guess that xposed installer just shows a general status then. Well anyway, I found a rom that has xposed preinstalled for S9+ so I went with that. A lot of things crashing tho, can't even search for anything in play store :/ Guess I will wait for a stable version.
