[APP] In with Naked Browser Out with UC Browser & What is it with Newer XDA themes?
Naked Browser is the best on the horizon.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fevdev.nakedbrowserpro
Dark theme, persistent UA.
It seems to have no video abilities, defaults to youtube app.
Forum readability is as good as Miren/Maxthon was.
Update on UC,
I do not recommend it anymore.
This browser goes too far with suggestions to the point of SPAM!
The straw was them playing a spam video following any video I chose.
Old review:
There is nothing better than this, except for Amazon and the like. I use Chrome.
It cannot browse a few sites, otherwise, a gem.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.UCMobile.intl
**** End UC review ********
If people use a browser and not forum specific apps then do yourself a favor and select XDA theme 2010. The new themes are a mess in my opinion.

Updated op.
Naked Pro has a 4.7 on play.

[Q] make opera9.5 default to mobile youtube wen clicking links

after seing how opera 10 automatically brings you go the mobile youtube site when you click on a link from a text or email, i realized opera 9.5 does not do this. and when someone sends me a youtube link, or i click a youtube link elsewear, opera 9.5 always goes to the regular youtube page which obviously is no good since we dont have flash.
is there anyway to make my opera 9.5 always go to the M version of youtube like op10 does by default when clicking youtube links?
You could install Opera 9.7. Search for a cab for it. It's what I use, and it defaults to YouTube mobile.
oh i didnt even know 9.7 exists.
does it support the zoom bar?
ill try that
Yes, it does support the zoom bar. Opera 10 does not. 9.7 was the final version to allow scalable zooming. Get it at this thread.
wow awesome.. thanks so much.. doing it now

Is this 'safe' to use?!.. can we trust this one to have no trap-ports/trojans?
Been using it for a couple of weeks. Has replaced xScope as my default browser. It is safe to use. It is rated 4.34 on android market read reviews
Miren browser seems to look pretty fast and stable.

Browsers

Get guy, I'm curious as to what browser you're using? I'm using boat mini.
Its light weight loads quick no lag very clean interface, which was just updated recently.
The default browser I found very laggy. Then I tried dolphin.. too much uneeded bloat and in my opinion, not a great interface.
My 2 cents on a few I've tried.
Sent from my LG-P930
Installed the Boat and so far it certainly seems "spritely".
What I like so far:
* Using the volume buttons to zoom
* 'Paste and Go' option for the address bar
* Small app footprint = Fast load
* The green denim theme is nice
What I don't like so far:
* Text re-flow isn't as good as Operas' (such as viewing forums)
Has a lot of promise, I'll continue to try it out. thanks.
I installed Boat... not the mini version. I like it very much. So much I uninstalled Maxthon. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm using Opera Mobile. Works really well
So far I like the Boat Browser. Very snappy and quick and clean. Almost no lag noticeable. I like it over Opera, Dolphin and of course the stock browser.
One thing it does great as well, and that is youtube. I currently use it to play videos on youtube since the default app for youtube is still broken.
Edit: Alright, so as always, I can't find a browser to run the video's of the desktop version of Youtube properly. On Boat Browser, when you double tap on the video to make it full screen, you only get a small box for the video and the rest of the screen is black. This happens regardless of what resolution the Video is at (360 or 720).
My current solution to it for now is to just manually enlarge the video by pinching it out until it somewhat fits the screen. It is not true fullscreen, but it is better than nothing. And on a good note, the damn browser runs 720P videos like butter!
Chrome for me
I have used firefox & Opera before but those were extremely laggy. Chrome was a welcome surprise as I've heard reports that it's laggy but not to me. Very satisfied. Will need to try Boat sometime too.

Web Browser, flash Player & HTML5

3 questions about the web browser and things related.
1: what is the best web browser? some people say Dolphin, yet some say Dolphin Beta? I'm looking for something that supports flash videos (like south park studios . com, and flash / java games) Someone point me in the right direction. Also when I do get a 3rd party web browser do I still need my stock? Will it serve any purpose?
2: If I download a web browser that supports flash, do I still need Adobe Flash Player or no? Also is there a particular version of Adobe flash Player that's superior? Someone said 10.6 was the best, I'm on 11.1, does it make a difference? Any benefits one has that the other doesn't?
And 3: What exactly is HTML5, It's like a Desktop viewing experience on a mobile device right?
-Thanks

1. I personally love Dolphin Beta. Great loading times and the best support for HTML5 as well as flash player. After you installed Dolphin you don't need stock anymore, but I keep it installed, just in case. The difference between standard and beta version is that the beta version has a customized engine that supports HTML5 and is much faster that the stock one.
2. From what I gathered, Dolphin uses the stock browser engine with a layer of customizations on top, so I think you still need to have Adobe Flash installed, though I'm not 100% sure. You should try uninstalling and checking if it still works in Dolphin.
3. HTML5 is a new standard for web pages, it allows you to have games and video players work directly without having to install any plugins (e.g. Java, Flash, etc.)

sorry for hi-jack this thread but out of interest, how is the dolphin browser? battery drainage problem?

YouTube app amazing, embedded videos not so much...

Since the most recent OTA YouTube videos played in the YouTube app are nothing short or miraculous. HD video loads almost instantly and rarely stutters or lags. Sadly, embedded videos don't enjoy the same performance. They can take a long time to load, hang, stutter and sometimes lock up the whole browser.
Any ideas on what is happening here and how to improve it? This device is clearly capable or impeccable streaming. Where is the bottleneck?
* I am using latest version of Dolphin Browser which will play embedded Flash. Of course problem could be Dolphin itself or Flash version they are using.
P.S. Is there an app which will allow us to automatically start any embedded YouTube videos in the YouTube app as opposed to the YouTube web page?
As a kind of sidenote to this I'll bring your attention to the Flipboard app. It's great for reading any genre of news you set it for, and it's smooth as silk to skip through its pages, I only use it for 'android news' really. But you can also have one of it's feeds as your YouTube account, all your subscription videos, favorites etc are there (only thing you can't do is search). To me it's an even better experience than the YouTube app itself, it looks a lot more polished with better presentation. It's well worth a try.
