EasyConnected for Android Nougat? - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

So I can't get my EasyConnected app working with my Pixel XL. It just says "Failed to install MOB Interconnection Service" or something along those lines. I thought the new app posted might finally be the version needed to resolve this, but to no avail. Does ANYONE have a solution/alternative app so I can mirror my phone to the unit? I'm running the latest Malaysk ROM, but I doubt that's really relevant. Thanks

I just put this on my stereo as I was getting this same message.
Now I'm getting another message:
No access to the serial number of device Hardware please contact the dealer.
Can't past this page.

Joying head unit running easy connected "No access to serial number"???
I'm having the same issue. I have a joying head unit with easy connected version HT03.4.3.6 installed. I'm trying to connect my Samsung galaxy s7 edge but it keeps coming up "No access to the serial number of device hardware, please contact dealer" if anybody could help me get this up and running again It would be much appreciated???

-open settings on Head Unit under apps menu find the easy connect and uninstall update
-then open app again
- bottom right corner of the
screen you'll see version number
Touch it and select update woala. It works.

Thanks, ihsansevilir - I followed your instructions above (after fitting an original Samsung cable to the head unit) & finally my Easy Connect in working!!! This has been driving me mad for weeks - Thank you!!!

Could you be more specific, please!
For what I can understand, you culdn't connect your phone with your car using EasyConnected and got the Failed to Insatall the Interconnection Service error. So, you upgraded to the latest version. With this verrsion you run into the serial number problem.
So, is it with this latest version from autopumpkin that you apply this method:
-open settings on Head Unit under apps menu find the easy connect and uninstall update
-then open app again
- bottom right corner of the
screen you'll see version number
Touch it and select update woala. It works.

For me it is very important to know this, because once I install the latest version, I wont be able to go back to the old one and use older phones (which were working OK). Only taking the car to the dealer will do. Also, I'm not sure that the uninstall the upgrade option will be available in settings for Android 4.4.x
I am trying to connect a Samsung Galaxy S7
Thanks for your help!

EasyConnected Serial issue - Please help!
I am having this problem, i have a number of Android phones, including an Android 7 Nougat that i want to use EasyConnected with. I have tried the latest .apk HT03.4.3.6 and tried many other .apk previous to that.
i'm using a genuine cable.
It gets to the following "NO access to the serial number of the device hardware, please contact the dealer"
and fails because of the serial number issue. also the S/N says "null" so i'm assuming it is looking for a serial number??
i read somewhere about creating a .net_easyconn_license file? Would this help? What is the file and where does this .net_easyconn_license reside in which directory?
Any assistance would be helpful, Thanks, i hope someone can assist as i'm fairly new to this.

I am out of ideas. If anyone has any insight or recommendations for apps that have the same functionality. This is my first android head unit, and I've only had it installed for 24 hours.

I gave up and installed a different app, Airscreen AirPlay

I ended up upgrading my HU to android 5.1, as i found another post with instructions to do so along with an image. I performed the upgrade in hopes of fixing the problem, but i ended up with the same result.
After this I installed EasyConnection service from play store. I also forgot to mention in my prior post that my phone is running android 8.0. Using this app solved my problem. The steps i took to get this to work :
1) Goto playstore and search for EasyConnection. Install it.
2) Open EasyConnection.
3) After the TOS / EULA, Click the profile / settings button in bottom left of screen.
4) Open "cellphone-automobile interconnection software". Leave this open.
5) Turn on your headunit, plug in the USB cable (follow app instructions as normal).
6) Voila !
note, after the initial connection is made, you can disconnect the usb cable, and use wifi mode with mobile hotspot on your phone to get the connection. The drive mode app that comes with the HU is not used, and is instead replaced with the one native to the phone's app that is installed.
Hope this helps anyone else having the interconnection error !!

Root: Joying 5.1.1 Unit

I ended spending a fair amount of time chasing down a working root method, in the interest of saving time for anyone else who is looking I wanted to post the steps I took.
1.) Settings > Factory Settings > Enter Password: *#hct#root#
2.) Install Kingo Root: https://root-apk.kingoapp.com/kingoroot-download.htm
3.) Install SuperSU
3.) Install SuperSU Me: https://sites.google.com/site/androidxdacom/file/supersu-me-v6.7.apk?attredirects=0
Device will reboot, you'll want to update the SSU binary, and you'll be good to go.
Thank You for this info, it worked for me :good:
This works on every joying 5.1 unit?
How do you like the Joying brand?
Worked on mine. Thanks man

I have the double din 7 inch in my wrx, finding a proper trim kit that fit around the unit for me was tricky.. as they are a few mm bigger side to side and up an down that standard double dins. But was able to finally find one that was seamless for the wrx. Personally love mine. The pioneers and alpine are getting better but still think my joying is superior.. that's just my opinions.

I've got an MTCD in the mail and am trying to figure out the best way to take control over it.
That part about "kingo root" is scary as all hell. Who knows what its doing! And despite replacing it later on with "supersu" (which is not much less frightening, since it too is closed source), that is no guarantee that you are removing all remnants of it.
I suggest that this is not a good process to follow.
From what I understand, the recovery on these devices does NOT enforce signed updates. That means that the proper way to install something like this, is to inject it directly into an update. Just skip the exploit step altogether.
/////CANCEL QUESTION: One question I have though; what does the factory settings password actually do?//////
Answer: This turns on root. The silly things comes WITH ROOT ALREADY AVAILABLE!
Its actually better to NOT install any kind of root (kingoroot or supersu), since its already there, just blocked from the android side. This is more secure than leaving the device open to potential exploit, and gives you an avenue to go in and mess with things.
I
I am attempting this method and followed your instructions. I got a message that said adb root and I installed king root and my device rebooted. Super SU says my device is not rooted and Super-Sume gets stuck at "Preparing environment please wait..."
Can I get help?
Anyone know if it is possible to install TWRP? Anyone tried?
Well mine worked fine, then supersu app disappeared and reboot, now I'm stuck with bootloop and can't get into recovery!! Help! RK3188 800*480 MTCD.

Hi guys, I was able to fix my HU which was completely munted by following this thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...lopment/rom-malaysk-roms-mtcd-device-t3385309
I used the SD tool to create a boot card, then got the error which is shown in the thread then followed the next page which tells you to use the SD card and a USB thumb drive with the update file on it.
When the error shows up you eject the SD card and the system goes to recovery. Use the install from USB and clear all function and it does its thing.
The joying screen showed up for some time (about 5-10mins) but after booted to system and I'm in business again.
Don't follow my instructions here this is just a brief explanation of what I did, use the link above and try all steps and follow carefully.
Attached photo of the error screen I had in recovery FYI.
Please note this was after I used root method of factory settings code, king root and super su and I did have root access/ the binaries updated etc etc, so don't be scared to try as you can recover your system.
Also the firmware I used was the latest 5.1.1 from Joying website.
My unit is: RK3188 (800*480) MTCD which shipped in December 2016 with android 5.1.1.

or otherwise provide information on how to replace this app with another phone app?

the mcu update is just a few Kilobytes while the ROM (firmware) update is above 700MB
the mcu update file shall be named as dmcu.img (if you received a Zip file with both ROM & MCU, decompress it to get both)
put it on SDcard as mentioned and go to settings>System information>MCU update
@hotaudio is there a easy way to gain root for your system?
I was able to update. Everything went fine except now when I turn the car on and the HU wakes up it displays "Unfortunately Music has stopped working". Anyone know of a fix. Might try a wipe and install of the update. Any thoughts appreciated.

hi

Android 9 Pie and ANT+ support???

Just got my Android 9 update on Nokia 6.1 (TA-1043) and ANT+ support does not seem to work anymore.
Previously with Android 8.x and with ANT Radio Services and ANT+ Plugins Services
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.service.socket
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
installed ANT+ support was working fine. Using this daily with Garmin HeartRate, cadence monitors and Wahoo Kickr indoor trainer.
Can anybody confirm or even suggest a fix. Tried usual reboots, uninstall, re-install,.... no joy.
Any instructions on how to roll back to Android 8?
Cheers,
Johan

Is this an indication that the new radio firmware that has been most likely installed with the Android 9 update did not include firmware support for ANT?
I'm lost here. The Phone did support ANT before Android 9 update.
Any suggestions how to get this sorted out?
I have a Xiaomi Mi A2 the truth is a good phone just buy it because I had ant + connectivity with my garmin bracelet and my cadence sensor also garmin, I worked great with strava software. A few days ago I received the update to android 9 and it does not work anymore. Apparently Android 9 suppressed the protocol firmware ant +
Now the question is if soon google take out a patch that incorporates ant + or is that it will be without ant + support and will force us to use a usb ant + support
What's wrong with android 9, I'm thinking about making a rollback to android 8.1

roll back if you can.
I have not managed to roll back.
I bought a cheap usb C OTG adapter and a cheap ANT+ usb stick. Now this works on my Nokia, but is of course a ****ty way with usb C OTG & ANT+ stick sticking on the end of the phone. Works for indoor training stuff, but not a real solution.
Same here. Mi A2 broke support for Ant Plus. Bying a BLE HRM for now - TacX supports BLE as well.
Same problem here with my Nokia 6.1. Has there been any progress/news on the issue?
Nokia support was of no help.
If you have downloaded ANT Radio Service and ANT Plugins, but it is still not working, you may need to activate the Hardware which is somewhat hidden in the ANT Radio service:
1) Go to Apps & Notifications -> See All Apps
2) Select 'ANT Radio Service' (If you cannot see this app, you need to download it from the Google play store)
3) Select Permissions
4) App Permissions
5) Slide switch to allow ANT
6) Check in ANT Tester - Hopefully Success!!!

The App permission to access the ANT+ hardware is switched off by default, after giving permission everything works!

Just got it working! Garmin cadence sensor (ANT+ only) on my Nokia 6.1 with latest Android updates. jpb571 had the correct solution.
Trying the solution above but at step 3 permissions is greyed out and it says, "no permissions requested". Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance.

I just tried this on my Nokia 7 Plus, and it appears to enable ANT on the device!!! I didn't even think it had ANT, so thanks!

I have the same problem. Have you solved it? How?
While this was fixed in Adnroid 10, Android 11 seems to have the same issues again. Oh Google, what are you doing :-(

What do you understand by when I say, I tried every instruction but still got the sideload error.
Please don't comment unless you actually know the solution.
Thanks

Hi adfree,
BIG FAN.
MODEL NUMBER: SM-R820
Firmware Version: R820XXUIBTC7
And yes i tried every step mentioned in the thread as well as the video. While I tried doing with the same with the listed sdb, tpk, and apk also the latest Tizen studio. It asked me update it. So later in the same thread, "index of sdb files" that were mentioned. I downloaded the latest version dated April 6(sdb_4.2.12_windows-64).
Now I tried with the updated version, it did execute but it gave the "sideload error".
So i think this sums up that I have followed every step on my watch. following are the same.
1. Turn the "debugging" on.
2. Select WiFi as "always on" and connected to the same WiFi network as of the Laptop.
3. Noted down the IP address.
4. Open Tizen and remote connect to the watch. (check the RSA key prompt on watch)
5. Unzip the downloaded folders and move the bp.tpk to tools "sub-folder" for sdb.
6. Now run the "aniscon".
7. In command line, type "sdb install bp.tpk".
These were the steps I followed. Kindly help me if I have missed any step.

IMHO the only known CSC / Salescode... is INU... India.

Maybe somebody from India could please confirm... BTC7 is working for this procedure...
Feel free also try the new "public" released TPK for BP... here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82859231&postcount=719
It is inside system.7z
Please try and confirm if still Sideload Error...

Is it possible to install this app on SM-R805F?

Hi @renton82
Many have tried sideloading and it succeeds but while you try to calibrate it, it is stuck at 0%.
So I don't think SM-R805F supports BP measurement.

Ok great, go to Tizen's Package Manager and follow the steps:
1. Under Main SDK tab, install the 5.5 wearable package.
2. Go to the Extension tab, install Samsung wearable extension.
Let it complete and then try the way you were trying earlier to scan for the device using remote device manager from the drop-down. Hopefully you will get it working this time.
Once it shows up, enable the Connect toggle.
Then run the "aniscon" command line and type "sdb install bp.tpk". (make sure you are using the old sdb only)
For better assistance, follow this video.
I hope it will work.
Brilliant thanks!! I will try that!! Much appreciated!!

Hi @TeeKay35
As per i know, using a Samsung smartphone will hardly make any difference, just download the apk on your phone and install it, later connect it with your watch. I think it should run as usual.
Please right back if any problem occurs.

System Status Bar HELP PX5 Android 10 Xtrons IB90MTVL

I know this is not an MTCD it's an MTCE cant find a section for it I have looked and tried it all and can't find anything. Having an issue with hiding the system status bar, no option in any of the settings menu or system menu. The system is not rooted so using most apps to enable immersive mode is non-functional, they also have apps that require no root but the keyboard won't work or it only hides the system status bar for the home screen, and not all the apps also I have no idea how to adb into the head unit. Wanted to see if anyone here had any clue on a fix or have had the dame issues and has a workaround. Thank you in advance.

Its an MTCD/E... no issue there.
Okay sweet... Hopefully I can get that question answered.
I've hidden mine with terminal commands before to success but I think it requires the su command (root) in terminal.
Try searching "Immersive" in the Play Store (or alternative). There are some on there that I think work without root.

settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
my question is, is this permanent, or do I have to run this command every time I turn the radio on .

Not sure. On my Eonon GA2170 (running Hal9K v4) it would stay after reboot, but on my Xtrons TQ709IPL (running HCT7 w/ Magisk root) it would reset sometimes.
If it doesn't stay, then you can probably get it to run the command on boot up by adding a script. I haven't tried this, though.

You can look here. As far as my devices go, the firmware seems to be interchangeable as long as it's the correct processor (i.e. PX5, PX6, PX30). MCU and recovery (if you have Android 10, you should used 10 rom, Android 9 should use 9 rom, etc) are the only head unit only aspects.

Thank you. I was able to sort out the installing a ROM and rooting. My issue is that when I run the command to hide the status bar it does not stick. usually, after I turn the car off and turn it back on I would have to re-enter the command again.

I see. Mine has been seemingly sticking to the command. I used it again lately and it restarted multiple times (due to a short in the wiring), but it retained the immersive notification bar. I would try to use a script on boot for it.
