google plus working version for all custom roms - Moto G4 Plus Themes, Apps, and Mods

Havent been able to get google + to work on custom roms since they updated it. As its a problem with google + itself. So i found a older version that works for now till google decides to fix it. Apk is from oct 2016 so its not that old. I use google plus alot so thats been a issue for me. If you use it stop playstore from auto updating otherwise its a waste of time.

[Q] Google Music app not compatible with my device

Hi,
I'm new to android and modding in general. I've flashed AOKP + gapps on my device. Some of the gapps would not appear in my app drawer no matter how many times I reflashed them, so I installed them manually from the market. The problem is this is not working for Google Music, it does not show up in the market on my device, if I browse to it on the market website, it says that Google Music is not compatible with my device because it is not available in my country (I'm in Canada) which makes no sense since the device shipped with the Music app installed on stock image. Anyone know how I can get it to work?
Thanks
Although the app ships with it if Google Music isn't available in your country you can't download it from the Market. Same with here in the UK
Google search the APK and install it via a file manager on the phone
Install the gapps listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484457
Good luck
oh ok, I tried faking the market to a USA one and it still didn't work. I downloaded the apk and installed it manually and it's working.
One question though, shouldn't the AOKP or the gapps that I flashed already mean I should had got it without trying to download it from the market? do you know why some of those gapps like maps, navigation, etc did not show up at all until I downloaded them myself?

is this different from the gapps package that is available on the AOKP nightly build website? I'll try it out later when I get home, thanks

Important: New Gapps package is bare, so there is no legal trouble for anyone. Please do not ask us to include any extra apps. A wipe is required. I'm sorry if it's missing some apps not available in your country via the Market, but that's the exact reason we cannot include them in the package. This means Google Wallet is no longer included in. It will still work, but you must add it yourself. Thanks for your understanding.
Build 22 is still 4.0.3. Every single build and milestone is built directly from source. As such, we must wait for Google to release sources for 4.0.4. After that, we'll be working day and night to merge the new changes and bring you the latest!

1Weather Install Problem

Just an FYI to any other 1Weather app 5X/6P users, since I'm a fan of the app. Here is a problem I found and a fix.
The app was fine on my Galaxy S4 (L) and my Nexus 9 (M) and both recognized the fact that I had installed and purchased it a few months ago. A new install just now on the 5X, of their latest 3.3.4 version, basically does not work well at all. I did an uninstall of it on the Nexus 9 and a reinstall there also didn't work right.
So, since it installed fine a while back, I found an old 3.2.1 version apk online and installed that. It works fine now, and I would think it still will whenever the OS gets around to updating it to that new 3.3.4 version. I suspect that since the 3.3.4 ver was running fine when it was applied on top of a prior running copy.
Here is the link to the old version.
[The 1Weather dev team got back to me and confirmed the problem. They are thinking it's changes in the M Pay system causing the problem. They confirmed my 'use an old ver' procedure is fine.]
The problem is supposedly fixed now with the 3.3.5 version, no need to worry about a clean install of the Play Store version.
I got it to install and run, but the 1x1 widget crashes. Unless they fix that I'm going to find another weather app.

Google Play Store App version, new is always better?

Can someone please explain something to me regarding the Google Play services app and if it is beneficial to install the latest version?
I know this appears to be a dumb question but I think there's more to it. I've noticed that even with recently released AOSP based ROMs, they have older versions of Google Play services. (10.2.98)
I realize that some newer versions of an app doesn't necessarily guarantee that it is better, but I'm curious, especially when there are several newer versions, matching variance.
Thoughts?

If you install a custom Rom with an older version of Google Play Services and also install gapps so that the Play Store is included on your phone the Play Store will automatically update you to the latest version of Google Play Services as long as it's compatible with your phone. When I was on DU on my previous phone that was usually the first thing that would happen if the version they used wasn't up to date. Obviously Rom developers know this is going to happen so I doubt that they actually expect you to stay on an old version.

Couple of questions about Pixelizing Xiaomi Mi 6

Hi All, I purchased my Mi 6 like half a year ago, and I asked some questions with regards to this device back then (reference: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/help/xiaomi-user-issues-actual-issues-t3703112 ) . I then gave up for some time, but would like to revisit some of my initial issues with the device.
DISCLAIMER: I am not very knowledgable on Xiaomi stuff, this is my first phone from them. I owned it for around six months and I still didn't root it... I just didn't see any _worthy_ rom to be installed. Please bear in mind, that although I am technically savvy and rooted all my previous phones always, I might sound as a total noob here since I didn't follow the scene very much.
At present, I have requested the unlock with Xiaomi, and they granted me the possibility to root the phone, but I haven't done so yet.
I am thus running on stock MIUI 9.5.6.0.(OCAMIFA). The Android is 8.0.0. OPR1.170623.027.
What I would like to achieve, is to get my Mi6 as close to current Pixel devices as possible. I understand that I could purchase the Pixel phone in the first place, but the price tag on them is too high..
(I am mostly interested in having the most recent version of Assistant available on my Xiaomi, and Pixel UI instead of MIUI)
I am unable to install Google Phone.
When I visit google store from PC, I can search for Google Phone, but can't install it. https://i.imgur.com/21fh9hq.png (and the reason why it's not compatible is not being disclosed). If I search google play store from the device itself, the app isn't even listed in the results. If I download any version of the Android Dialer app from APKMirror, and try to install - the installation would start, and then fail with a single message (App not installed https://i.imgur.com/gOolw3H.png ). I tried ARM, ARM64, both in NODPI and other DPIs, also, I tried app versions 19.0... and 20.0... from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/ . Always getting the same error.
What's interesting, is that I was able to install Google Messages, Google Contacts and any other google app without any problems, but I can't install the Phone app from google. I have also been able to install rootles-pixel-launcher from APK
I am left with the phone app from xiaomi, which is not integrated with Google Message / Contacts apps, and vice-versa.
I am looking for the clear up the following doubts:
1. Anyone experienced problem installing the Google Phone ?
2. Any idea how to further debug why I can't install Google Phone ?
3. Are you aware of any up-to-date rom giving me the pixel experience (The Pixel Experience thread has a lot of people askingn for updates - is it dead ?)
4. I start missing my LG Nexus 4, did I purchase the wrong device for what I am trying to achieve with it ? I start getting the feeling that I picked a phone with not enough scene going for it. Or is the scene in China?
Sorry for lengthy post, and appreciate any input.
cheers
You need to flasy Google Framework, then you can use googles apps like "phone"
Install any AOSP based rom, flash Gapps, root with magisk and search the download section for the 'Pixel 2 experience' module. I chose the last launcher, "new custom launcher"
Check if camera2api is enabled. It should be because of the pixel experience module but if it isn't yet download a magisk module for enabling it.
Check the Gcam threads on here for the recommended Gcam APKs and make sure to install Google photos too.
Last step is install the magisk module "Google framework" and installing the phone app etc. from the playstore.
After I followed these steps any AOSP based rom feels very pixel-like and Gcam even makes me think I actually bought one from time to time
Edit: I'm starting to think the pixel experience module actually has the framework included already as I currently don't have the framework module installed and I was able to download the phone app without any problems.
Good luck!

9.0 P for s6 edge plus started.

Its working on the s5 klte and s7 herolte. I was able to get 8.1 to run on our s6e+ and note 5. So now i will try 9.0. The stuff is syncing now. It will be a moddified lineage rom of some sort, so not original development.
Update, there is an alpha floating around here on xda, but despite loading, bluetooth and the launcher crash non stop and i cant do anything. I took the zip apart to play with and see if i can stabilize it.
Ok so, What I have done so far was I used the kernel from the alpha rom, took the s6 nexus os 9.0 rom, swapped the kernel around, changed the updater script, removed the Bluetooth files because they did not work, and I am still tinkering with other Bluetooth files from other roms and android versions, maybe 8.1 files will work? not sure yet. what I can say is that I have 9.0 running on my s6e+ with no Bluetooth, no call audio, and a working camera, no need to flash any other zips besides gapps, I have not played with it much but it works, it does not reboot randomly or crash, the apps ive used work. play store works. if anyone is interested let me know. I can put up a zip for a couple of devices to try it out, but be warned this is not any sort of official release, nor is it really my own work, more of something where I looked at a couple of different projects others had going on and found a way to combine it all to work for my device, without having to go through numerous steps to get the rom to boot. If I am going to put a zip up for people I will need to edit my first post and credit the people whose work I used and whatnot, then use my mega account to upload zips. this should work on the note 5 also, but I do not own that device. I have spent all day doing this, and normally I have to do school and work, plus my kids, I can not spent tons of time on this, does anyone want to help me figure out the call audio and Bluetooth? If not I will work on it by myself but it wont be a quick fix.

no bluetooth, no call audio. needs testing. 9.0 pie
Call audio works now. No BT, camera buggy.
Bumping for interest.
Oh yeah. I'll add a T-Mobile zip tomorrow. Its been updated to Nov 5th patch
