LinageOS for Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (i9305) ? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hey everybody,
I was wondering if there is LOS already for the Samsung i9305. I've read in an article that it would be available, but on this download page I couldn't find it. Or maybe it has an other name or another download page?? Appreciate any info.

Here it says that it would be available, but canoot find in the linked download-page.

This is the official list of supported devices.
http://wiki.lineageos.org/devices.html
Go to the forum for your device and check there. Someone may have made an unofficial build, as your device does not appear to be on the official list.

If memory serves me correctly, while the Cyanogenmod was still going strong, Cyanogenmod announced that the i9305 (d2lte) was officially merged with the i535 (d2vzw) which was known as the "Unified Development".
I believe that this was because both devices were so much the same, they decided that the releases were ending up being duplicates in almost every way.
The changes, modifications and improvements specific to the d2lte are still being worked on with LineageOS but, implimented with the d2vzw.
I checked out a few places and noticed this still being the case. As for the other d2 devices, it would take me all day scrubbing them for comparison.
Also, i had noticed, the d2lte is now also a device reference for the d2 family of devices.
If there's anyone who can show where I'm incorrect with any/all of this, please let me know so I can take note of this for my personal knowledge.

Thanks for your reply! I'm quite new to nodding, so... can you tell me what other d2 devices there are? Actually I've never heard of "d2", "d2lte" or "d2vzw" before.
If I understand your correctly, you mean there is a LineageOS ROM which can be used for i9305?
Or is there any other ROM (preferably Nougat) for i9305 that you can recommend?

WebOS Port?

Since it's been open sourced, any chance of porting it to the Galaxy Nexus? FirefoxOS also has been ported, so I would think WebOS would be possible. Any info on that? Would love to experiment with WebOS if it can be ported.
Parts of webOS have been open sourced, however the full open webOS 1.0 is not slated to be released until September.
Until then, no dice. Also depends highly on variant and availability of open source drivers.

Ahh one of the people somewhere else in this forum said it had been fully open sourced. Not yet I guess. Also, aren't all the drivers for the gnex in the AOSP repo? So that shouldn't be a problem

All GSM models and VZW yes, Sprint not yet. Those available should work as open webOS will use the standard linux kernel. However it is my understanding, and I could be wrong, that some models, namely the CDMA ones still use proprietary binaries with permission to distribute for AOSP. Not that they couldn't potentially be used for a port, just that it is a bit more of a grey area.

It's my understamding that the sprint one will NEVER be in the AOSP repository. Google said so I think. So I guess it would be harder for that one. I guess now I know it'll easily be possible for a WebOS port at least for the Maguro and Toro (which I have).. I wonder if someone will take up the cause, or I'll have to do it myself...

[Q] Why does Samsung S3 i747 ATT US have 4.1.1 ROM. ?

I have an i747 ATT US S3 which is showing it has 4.1.1 ROM.
Is that because I am rooted (but still stock ROM) and have missed OTA update(s)?
Nope. You haven't missed a thing, so far as AT&T.
They haven't released it, and nobody who's talking knows when we'll see it. (regardless of what you read anywhere).
There are a few ROMs out there, like Dandroid which are ported to AT&T S3s.

Thanks.
ROM Manager on my phone says "Your ROM is not set up to receive OTA updates..." Is that because it is rooted?
Also, can you list a few other ROMs for i747? It is really hard to hunt them down, that is, to find the ones that are compatible with YOUR phone.
I particularly would like to find one (or kernel) that has "sound improvement" module in it. I had supercurio's voodoo sound on my earlier S1, and the S3 sound for music is nowhere near that in quality.
Yes.
Look in AT&T Original Android development and AT&T Android development.
The headers tell all.
Read the threads and you'll learn what you need to.
Thanks for those great leads--lots of stuff there.

Although a harsh response he's correct. We don't really push favorites here. If you had looked for rom's you'd find them as they are in the development sections.
Are you on a Canadian carrier or at&t ?

[Q] no paranoid for lg g3

i have realized that no mainstream custom rom team is providing its flavor to lg g3 users (even after its specs are somehow more then that of samsung galaxy s5/one m8).. i know the reason might ber "not unlocked bootloader" but there already is a work around by team bump to bypass bootloader check.. i always have used paranoid rom on pretty much all older devices i had(and trust me, i loved i more then any rom out there);but sadly all i can do now is hit on my face with my flagship device as the team is not planning/yet have provided any official support/announcement!
please do consider or i will end up throwing this flagship device and take s5(with lower specs) just for PA :|

Why should we have to buy devices with official support for a free rom? I'd much rather make donations or create a kickstarter for G3 support from PA.
Yes PA has been my favorite AOSP rom since my Galaxy S3 but I don't see why they haven't already begun developing for the G3, especially with an official CM Nightly build for most G3 models D85X.
Unless they are waiting for a milestone or something>
Paranoid, plz support the G3 D855, even if I saw an official experimental I'd still contribute and offer to test.
Plz PA! You guys could take over the G3 XDA forums!
Much love!

We don't support devices that aren't open. We will never officially support the g3 in any form.
You can keep an eye on the legacy community on g+ and hope and pray that the legacy team takes on the g3.
There is more to supporting a device than just having one. That's the first step to supporting it.

What?! Didn't you know that we are supposed to own every device and have intimate knowledge of every device and build for it without having a device in hand to verify everything works?
I mean, hell, it's only money and time, right? Oh, **** I forgot, we don't have either of those things.

T- Mobile LG G3 (d851) is the only with an unlocked bootloader and compared to the other variants of G3, this variant has less roms. I hope they support this variant instead since its the only one thats unlocked

Good luck with that....considering nobody has money to be buying devices like that and it would still fall under the legacy team.

Galaxy s3 neo will get Android Lollipop.

Samsung France has undoubtedly confirmed that the galaxy s3 neo obtain the update android lollipop. But they say " we don't have any informations about the date of the deployment"
(I CANT SEND THE SCREENSHOT OFF THE CHAT.)
Translation by google:
Elena:
Hello, welcome to Samsung. How can I help you today?
I am listening to you, Mr. G ****
Me:
Hello, I have a question on the Galaxy S3 GT-Neo I9301I.
* I would like to know when he will receive the upgrade Android Lollipop.
Elena:
I understand your request, sir.
*About your question on Android updated "version of Lollipop" on your "Neo Galaxy S3," I inform you that the deployment of the update is planned, but no information about the date for Deployment has been received for the moment. It depends on the distribution channel and also depends from one operator to another.
*Indeed, the date of provision of an update differs from a version of "Galaxy S3 Neo" to another.
To check the availability of a new update, I invite you to do the following: 1) Either via the Service FOTA (Firmware Over The Air): Menu → Settings → About device → Software Update → Update. 2) By connecting your mobile with Samsung Kies application: Download the latest version of Samsung KIES software via this link: samsung.com/fr/support/usefulsoftware/KIES Select "tab to download WINDOWS / MAC "and then click" Download Kies "to install it. After downloading I recommend you restart your computer. Then you connect your device. If there is an official update and available for your product, it will be automatically offered.
Now what is this guys? I invite those who have been so much busy to spread the famous (so called) news that there will be no lollipop update for s3 neo. Why?
Because their country representative of Samsung website or a Samsung page or chat page admin said that.
Wow awesome.
I always said that there is no final answer to this question about lollipop update, we have some time to get that (Samsung support policy ) but no..... no one listened.
It is a good news and thanks for sharing.

Cyanogenmod for galaxy s4 mini Verizon sch-i435?

Hi,
I was looking for quite some time online for a way to get cyanogenmod on my samsung galaxy s4 mini Verizon sch-i435 and I can't find anything.
On the cyanogenmod website they have for every other variant of the s4 mini including an unofficial port for the sprint variant, I looked into porting one myself for my device but I'm not that good yet, I can't do it. Can you help me either to port it, or maybe installing one for another variant might work.
Please let me know, thanks.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Doesn't Verizon impossibly lock their bootloaders? If so, custom recoveries and ROM's will always be out of reach.
At any rate (in case I am wrong), I am connecting your thread to the forum your device experts can be found:

Please note, to respond to replies, you will need to register for an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
