Network Unlocking LG G3 D851 HELP - T-Mobile LG G3

Hello xdadevelopers,
I recently purchased a T-Mobile LG G3 D851 from a friend of mine only to discover that it is network locked. I am a Sprint user (I know...I know) and I'd like to switch over to the G3 as my main phone. It seems that the phone has no other lock on it since it says it is not "personalized". Due to my friends account being cancelled, T-Mobile will not provide an unlock code in order for me use the phone with my Sprint SIM card. I know I can order an unlock code from some shady website, but that doesn't guarantee I'll get my phone unlocked. So, in other words, I'm reaching out to the forums for help. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Actually UnlockBase.com isn't shady, they're reliable and have used their services in the past to unlock a ton of metroPCS phones for my family.
However, If you feel you do not trust any other company, you're welcome to start a new plan with T-mobile and request an unlock after you have met their requirements.

Lg g3 d855 network unlock?

Hey,
I'm new to this so help would be greatly apreciated.
I would like to know, if i can remove a network lock for O2 UK with rooting and if so how can i go about doing it?
I got my mates old phone when he got his upgrade. I've tried IMEI unlock codes and O2 customer services wont help cause I dont have an acount with them.
So im kinda at a loss. Any advice would be great.
Thanks.
There are tons of codes to get on ebay for about £2 which definitely unlock, rooting will not unlock the phone, but when you do want to root there is a one script root right here on XDA
If you can't get the carrier to unlock your phone your best bet is getting it unlocked by a third party. I've used UnlockBase the last few times I ran into issues getting my phone unlocked. Here's a link to their LG page if you're interested: https://www.unlockbase.com/unlock-phone/lg/.
I'm using UnlockRadar for some time and they have great customer support for LG unlocking check it out at www.unlockradar.com

Network Unlocking LG G7 Thinq?

Hi Friends,
I got LG G7 Thinq Carrier Locked and I'm tired up of this network I want to use other network but my phone is network locked I can't use anyother network sim card... Its pretty annoying and I just didn't thought that this could be a big issue for me.
Is there any way I can use another network on my phone? only if the method is safe I don't want to risk my phone so please tell me if it is possible to safely unlock my g7 thinq and If anyone have tried unlocking this phone then please help me.
Thanks
Well as per my knowledge network unlocking is completely safe there are 2 methods to unlock your phone.
1 - (Free and recommended method) You can visit LG customer support or service Center and tell them reason why you want to unlock your phone and I'm sure they are going to help you.
2 - (You have to little fee). If you didn't got any proper help from LG service center then you have to try any network unlocking service provider they will get you unlock code for your phone and you have to pay little bit fee for that. There are lots of service provider the one I have tried is safeunlockcode, but here are lots of other you can do research and go with any service provider you like.
Happy unlocking
My buddy has an extra TMobile verison and I want to use it on Verizon. Is it possible for me to activate it?

Have a look at this article

I couldn't get my locked T-Mobile to work so planning to sell.
I bought a Unlocked Verizon G8 and I got it working for the most part but couldn't make or receive phone calls on it. I think the phone app had too much specific Verizon stuff. Ended up returning it
The Sprint version is a mess. Trust me.
I got my locked to Sprint. It works fine so far in the UK when I put my sim in it.

Great stuff, it's a solid phone and deserves a proper release in the UK

Are you sure it's not unlocked? Mine is brand new out of the box and I just get no Service, and a little note saying invalid sim in the drop down menu.
Has anyone manage to have one of these unlocked outside of going by the book with sprint?
All the services i've asked either said they can't do it, or said they could at first, then just sent me a refund pretty much straight back.
I don't mind paying for the service but it seems nobody is there yet.
Anyone know anything I don't?

They said it was locked to Sprint but also said it would work in UK. I hope you get it sorted. I'm having the same problem with the V50. I'm guessing the o my solution is if someone request the unlocking code from the manufacturer. Which can take a week or so.

The problem for the unlock code with the sprint G8 (and I gather some of the other phones too) is that they don't request an unlock code with an alternate SIM. There's a bunch of other codes you can enter to get the unlock code thing to pop up..... doesn't work.
It looks like the solution for the same thing on the Sprint G7 is for them to remote in using teamviewer or anydesk and work their magic.
I guess I could see if I can get my hands on a properly smashed up, non screen functional, unlocked phone, and transplant the board. But not really something I want to do with a brand new phone.
Partially hobbled by the lack of popularity I guess, you can find someone to do pretty much anything done to a Samsung

Hi mate. I still have my G8 so will have a try with a code I was given. You need it to request the sim unlock right?

Im really hoping these codes work for you (option 2 or 3). I didn't for me unfortunately.
Unlocking instruction for LG G8 ThinQ ?
How to enter an unlock code in a LG G8 ThinQ:
Second option (device doesn't ask for an unlock code with an unaccepted SIM)
1. Start the device with an accepted simcard (example LG G8 ThinQ was bought in Orange you need to insert an Orange card)
2. Go to the dial screen and press “2945#*model number#” (the same way you enter a phone number)
Example: the device is a P999 you need to enter “2945#*999#” or for KU990 you need to enter “2945#*990#” etc…
Third option (accepted simcard)
1. Go to dial screen and press 2945#*71001# or 2945#*20001# as if making a call
2. when a hidden window appears enter the unlock code
Thanks Agent.M
I appreciate you looking into it. I've tried all those codes on mine and they don't work.
From what I gather, Sprint has used some sort of different locking method that can't be undone by entering a code.
It looks like it was the same on the LG G7 and the solution involved cross flashing some software. The services offering to do it all remote in using team viewer or similar and do it for you.
There was a thread running on the G7 forum for it the sprint unlock, this G8 thread doesn't seem to have nearly as much activity on it. And doesn't look like LG is being helpful with unlocking the boot loader.
I'm a bit sad, I put a lot of thought into which phone to get. We've only got the G8s locally, and it's not quite the same phone.
I'm going to return it and I guess burn the $100 in postage, return postage, restock fees etc. I'm not really happy to sit on it for another 6 months until someone works out an unlock for it. With my luck, someone will probably crack it next week after I send it off.
Unlock codes don't work on this phone.
There's no way to enter it.
Also. Suspicious post is suspicious.
It kinda sucks that this phone still can't be unlocked from Sprint using a 3rd party option. Because of the lack of attention, I'm afraid that LG phones might be leaving the scene just like HTC.
I ended up returning my g8 and getting a v40 new unlocked locally.
It's freaking enormous but we only got the g8s here which isn't any smaller.
Hence chasing the g8. I wanted something a sensible size.
My sprint phone have a major issue, it was randomly rebooting several times per day. I got sick of it and did a full reset, it made things even worse, I somehow lost the sprint boot up logo and now it just endlessly reboots until I shut it down completely.
Is there anyway to do flash it back to the original stock firmware?
My Sprint G8 (sim unlocked) from america is working with my Irish sim on GSM/UMTS only.........so no mobile data. There doesn't seem to be an option to add an APN.
It cost me 400 dollars including shipping and duties.............kinda expensive for a pocket camera!!!
Love the phone and will go to any lenghts to get it sorted.....but it's not looking good.

I'd love to hear details......did you buy the phone from US seller or did you bring it to the UK yourself, after using it on Sprint in the US?
Did your UK SIM register on your UK provider and have you got mobile data?
Could you post some screenshot from your "about phone" menu and also your APN setting from your Network menu?
I can't get my Sprint G8 working in Ireland on my data network (works on GSM, calls and texts only)

I'm having the exact same issue with my LG G8
- As We only have G8s in EU, I bought AT&T G8 from US eBay. Used it for a month without any issues and then suddenly MM#6 error.
- Went to AT&T "unlock phone" page and entered my IMEI. It said the phone is lost or stolen.
- Contacted the eBay seller, they told it should be unlocked and sent me an unlock code. I entered the unlock menu (2945#*820#) and all options gave the same result "Phone is not Personalized", which should mean that there is no lock on the unit and I did not have an option to even enter the unlock code. But there is still the MM#6 error.
So a bit clueless as to what to do now and based on this thread it seems like there is no solution to this. The phone seems to be locked by some other method.
I have never owned an LG phone before and just wanted to try it out. Guess it's an expensive lesson
edit: just after posting this, I got answer back from my carrier - the phone is blacklisted. So that's and anticlimactic end to the story
It's a pity......the handset is amazing.
There are a community of people trying to get this sorted.
The problem seems to be that your phone is trying to register on the ATT network and it can't........and there is no way to change the settings needed for it to register onto your network.
Can you post a screenshot of your APN screen in Network Settings.

Need to unlock LG G8 ThinQ from T-Mobile USA. Please help.

Hi everyone. Any chances to unlock LG G8 ThinQ from T-Mobile USA? Device App says "Unlock Failure. This mobile device is not eligible for unlock...". OEM UNLOCK option is available in Developers options so it could be rooted I guess. Can't even find paid reliable website who provide this kind of service not for 5-16 days of time frame. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi I've had the same version as you bit couldn't get it unlocked, went through T-Mobile themselves and they couldn't help. Check the IMEI via their site and if it doesn't come up them no luck sadly.
I had to sell in the end...

There is a difference between SIM locked and bootloader locked. The OEM unlock option only refers to the bootloader unlock which is not possible at this time on any G8. Bootloader unlock has to come from LG, SIM unlock would come from T-Mobile
I bought a clean imei LG G8 T-Mobile I'm wondering if there is a way to unlock it for free
T-Mobile phones from recent years can only be unlocked with the T-Mobile Device Unlock app, which queries their servers to ensure that both the phone AND you are eligible for unlock: Account must be in good standing (even if no longer active), phone must be paid off (of course), and it must have been active on T-Mobile postpaid for at least 40 days (1 year prepaid).
If these criteria are fulfilled, they will generally approve unlock (they have to, by law) -- although they often have a hard time making it work with the Device Unlock app, even when they say it's approved. Filing an FTC complaint will escalate it to TMO Executive Office, who CAN make it work, even when rest of TMO can't -- but only do this if you know you fulfill their requirements.
Good old unlock codes don't work with TMO phones. Anybody trying to sell them to you are scammers.
There ARE a few 3rd party services who can unlock T-Mobile through remote connection, where they trick the Device Unlock app into thinking it is connecting to TMO servers. But I think they only work on rooted phones.

Carrier unlock Sprint LG ThinQ V8?

I have a Sprint ThinQ V8 that is no longer active after receiving a new phone from T-Mobile (a few months back). T-Mobile ported the phone number and deactivated the LG V8 remotely.
How can I get my LG SIM/carrier unlocked or should it already be unlocked?
Thanks

So, never did what you're describing. You had a G8 on t-mo network, you got a new phone from them, they ported the number to the new phone (why didn't you just take the sim out of the old one and put it in the new one?).
anyway, maybe when you say 'ported the number' yer basically saying on t-mo's website they now show the new phone instead of the old one. That's not really 'porting the number', that's just changing on their site which phone you have, and you put the old sim in the new phone?
Completely unsure what you mean 'deactivated the LG G8 remotely'? What? Is this a phone that you've completely paid for? If so, they have zero business doing anything with that phone other than carrier unlocking it.
you might want to explain a little more about what's going on.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the confusion, I'm a newbie at understanding how everything works. The LG V8 ThinQ phone was obtained from Sprint and was on Sprints network until T-Mobile called offering a new Nord N200. When I got the Nord N200, I called T-Mobile customer service and they transferred the number from the LG to the Nord by guiding me on codes to enter. The LG has been payed off for awhile. Is there a way I can check to see if the LG is now carrier unlocked? Thanks in advance.

Oh, that explains it. Yes a simple way to check if it's unlocked is put a sim in it. If it connects to that carrier, you can make calls etc, then it's been unlocked. If it's not, call Sprint, I think they are legally bound to unlock it if it's paid off.
