Are those Nexus 5 batteries at AliExpress with a capacity of 3800mAh legit? They even claim it's the same size as the original batteries.
No, this is fake... Maybe the real capacity will have a 1500mAh... Search original or replacement of good quality, for example. PolarCell: http://www.polarcell.de/english.html
I second that (what bykumza writes), if the manufacturer (LG) could have fitted a real 3800 mAh battery they would have done that. Often the more modest capacity values are more accurate. I can confirm that PolarCell are very good, well worth the money. The Chinese cheapies often dissapoint.

Actually Nexus 5 and G2 are released almost same date. Nexus 5 has 2300 mah battery and G2 has 3000 mah. I bought G2 battery and put it in my Nexus 5. It fits but it needs ~1 mm space which is not a problem for LG to do it! But they did not! That company did not put 3000 mah battery in nexus 5 which could have been the bestseller because of price/performance and put 2300 mah in it so they could sell their ****ing G2s with great battery life. So no they would not have done it even if they could. Today companies do not do so much things that they can, we just can't even imagine. Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Samsung , apple and other mobile companies are good example. Why on earth can't mobile companies like apple put bigger batteries in it's super high price phones? Juts why? Samsung managed to put 3600 mah battery in 5.5 inch phone which is smaller then iphone 6s plus or 7 plus which has ~2900 mah and takes 3 and a half ****ing hours to charge it!!!!

Fitting G2 battery requires some hardware modification, which I frankly don't feel like doing.
I just wonder which battery is better, a PolarCell one (someone recommend in previous post) or OEM one.
Polarcell is reportedly one of the best alternatives and has a slightly higher capacity than the original cost can say that comes out more or less the same as the original.
Here, unfortunately, you have to answer on your own if you want to take a chance and buy a replacement if you prefer a standard solution.

You are most definitely right I bought one if those for my G1 and it crapped out within a year. Your best bet is to take your chances with the cheap batteries on ebay. You can get ten of them for what one from Seidio charges you. No knock on Seidio.

dunno where i saw it (somewhere here on xda prolly N1 forum) but some guys put every aftermarket battery for MANY phones up against HTC's stock batteries the astounding results:
NO aftermarket battery from ANY mfg. has EVER beaten HTC's stock battery...
(this is referring to batteries that fit in stock battery enclosure)
I agree after market battery might show higher numbers but not as good as the stocks ones

me 3 right under a year mine crapped out and it never seemed much better than my 2 year old htc it replaced.
I'm surprised, I've had good results with extended batteries. The one I got for my G1 did considerably better than stock. (8-9 hours versus 6 with OEM battery.)
I bought 2 1500mAh batteries with charger from ebay for less then $15 shipped. They last less then stock battery does (I kill stock battery in about 14 hours, the ones from ebay last me about 10-12 hours) but I always have charged spare battery now. Great investment IMHO, no way I would pay $50 for 1 battery, not even original HTC.

Well I should hope that an extended battery would give you longer life then a stock...seeing as how its suppose to. I don't think that the problem is whether or not extended batteris last longer, because I would think if you bought an extended battery and it didint last longer then a smaller, stock battery..you would then return it...I think what people have problems with is getting what they pay for, price per mA and how much mA there really is...if your paying 50 dollars for a battery rated at 1400ma, your probably going to want all the mA you payed for...for example: (PURELY FOR SPECULATION, NOT REAL NNUMBERS) say you have a stock 500ma battery and you get like 4 hours out of it or whatever, and then you purchase an extended battery for 50bucks and its "rated" at 1000ma, yet you only get 6-7 hours out of it...? Then it would seem that it isn't truly rated at which they say it is... Then you get into how much certain companies value their own integrity, and how much they are going to inflate their own battery ratings to simply sell the product. Examples of this can be found on batteryboss.org ...This website obtains batteries and tests them, and you can see clearly, some companies inflate their ratings more than others... If you look at what the battery was rated at, and what exactly it tested at...they even break down price per mA...so if you paid 2dollars per mA for a 1500 rated battery and it tested at 1300..how much money are you losing? Purchasing an extended battery should be looked at like all consumer purchases, weight the pros and cons... and read reviews on companies, you can also seek alternatives such as previous post in this thread of having spare OEM batteries that cost 1/10th of an extended battery, yet they immediately doulbe your battery length..

Well $49.99 for 1600mAh is high as hell and top of that from unknown source, might well as wait for Mugen power stock size. I hope whoever has this post data on it so we can see if its any good.
Got one of these for my N1. Definitely NOT worth the money. Don't notice any difference from the OEM.

Had one of their batteries on my previous phone.
3400mAh... though it was quite bulky. What id really like if they would develop a battery which is wider above the battery compartment.

Which I might get as well. It all depends. I'm waiting this week to get mine SGS2, most people say it's OK. While others moan about its horrible battery life. So I'm not sure. I'll test it out and see. Regardless, I will get the mugen one that fits OEM. And if it's too little as well, maybe the case. All I know, is that I'm already in love with the SGS2

Well, they can't do that, maybe 1850, 1900 mAh tops.
What I was thinking off was a battery which is a cover at the same time. A bit like the batteries on the nokia 6210 and 6310i of long ago. You could get those from Nokia in the 'small', normal, and 'large' variants.
The SGS2 and battery construction allows for this. I.E. a battery that 'snaps' on and is the same height as the thicker part of the telephone on the bottom. Such a battery if constructed properly should easily be able to hold +/- 4000mAh while adding little to the overal phone thickness.

Easily 4,000? I don't think so. You're talking about the actual battery + a few more mm for the top. Now, the rest of the body will be the same thickness of the same cover, right? Then that'll make it impossible to construct any usable MAH into that! So we'll get around 2,000 mah. Which by my standards is just frikken fantastic! I'd buy that in a second

If there was a way to make a battery of the same size larger capacity why wouldn't Samsung have done it? Battery capacity is a _huge_ selling point for mobiles, Samsung has truckloads of money and huge departements doing R&D. The same can also be said for all the other big manufacturers.
But lo and behold, time and time again some rather small battery making companies release 3rd party batteries that offers upto 30% increase in capacity at the same size as the OEM batteries, it's just amazing!
One thing is oversized batteries giving you some more juice for your phone (not exactly what it says on the box there either...), but never take a 3rd party's word for it if they say they can cram more capacity into a same-size battery than the original. More often than not they have lower capacity than the OEM batteries despite being rated much higher.

I wish they released a smaller one of about 2500mAh of capacity for SGS II, that would be astonishing!

You obviously never bought or used a geninue Mugen brand battery before then. They're probably the only company that doesn't make ridiculous claims about battery life.
And just because the manufacturer doesn't squeeze more power into their batteries doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done. They do have cost considerations and a profit margin to think about after all.
EDIT: I expect Mugen's OEM size battery to probably be around 1750-1800mah, or about 10% more capacity than the Samsung one.

Just to clarify, it's not always OEM size. It could be a tiny bit larger, but still fits in the OEM slot. That has been the case with all my blackberry batteries. Why my trusty OEM batteries fit comfortably, the mugens still fit well, but are a little bit tighter. So that DOES justify an increase in mAh.
I have also tried non-mugen / seidio and OEM batteries, and those are ALWAYS crap! Capacity usually drops after 2 weeks or even less sometimes. They're horrible. But mugen has always made great batteries (at least in my case) and I would highly recommend them to anyone Seidio ... meh... Not so much! Because they're REALLY over priced haha.

I had a bad experience with a mugen battery. Bought it, charged it, used it for one time and it crapped out on the second charge. Dead.
Called and emailed for support and they wanted me to send it back, plus tracking, I wasn't going to pay more.
Basically I threw it out. My loss. But I would never by a battery from them again. It looks like cheap stuff of ebay anyways.
Maybe you'll have better luck though.

Interesting link. Yes, my last Mugen experience was anecdotal (Xperia X1), but if my extended battery had really only lasted ~70% of claimed capacity I would've noticed (plus there would be more people complaining in the forums).
Guess they need to tighten their QC then.

was looking forward to a plausible 1800mAh standard size battery from mugen... 1700mAh is barely any jump and in all seriousness would have the same or even lesser battery life than the original one.

Wow, 1700 from 1650? That's nothing. That's literally minutes (10 maybe?) of the screen being on! I would totally skip on that one.
Samsung also makes its own extended battery case, which might also interest me... We'll see

Just wanted to know which is better the 1900 has good all round reviews as for the 2300 not heard to much on this one myself, more so some site claim it (2330maH) still fits with orginal batter cover .

Every battery with more than 1900mah while still stock size I've seen reviewed has actually had less than mah than the stock battery.

Thanks for your input D3 like I said there not much (or Im looking wrong places on net) on reviews on the 2330maH battery, at under 10 euro/pound I may just order the 1900maH one still no rush.

anker is not an unknown battery company... they are known for their high quality batteries...
and its proven multiple times that the 1900mah battery is 1900 and even 2000 for some ppl....
i do think the other one is fake though (the 2300 one)

As per the photo yes but if you have not done business with said dealer drop them a line to find out if these are genuine anker batts.
This way you'll have digital proof if they turn out to be fakes and you can take it up with ebay there after...

Now it's a 2300 mAh battery, but it is supposedly not any larger than the original which strikes me quite odd..

Scam. You aren't going to do much better than OEM for size vs. mAH. If a fleabay company is advertising a battery that's the same size of factory with LOTS more juice, they are full of it---especially when it's only $5.
They are kinda hit or miss. I have had some that are good and some that are a bust. They are ALWAYS rated higher than what they actually are though. At least you will have a spare to carry around. Sometimes they will come with a charger that allows you to plug it into the wall and charge your spare battery. I would look for one like that. That way you can charge your spare battery and carry it with you in case you need it.

No it's not possible to have higher rating than standard with a battery that is the same size. It's physically impossible using the same battery chemistry to have higher output. (many cheap ones actually hold less charge as they are made of lower quality material)
(Extender batteries are available with higher ratings but they are much bigger and need a bigger back cover)
