Nope

I think Dash charging isn't helping in real life multipurpose use.... but Qualcomm quite charging does that....
Oneplus should make dash charging support power bank or make 3/3T Quick charging 3.0 enabled ?

Well, OPPO's VOOC flash charge is the same as DASH, and people report their VOOC power banks work with DASH charging (with a Micro-USB to USB-C adapter).
OPPO link: http://www.oppo.com/ph/accessory-vooc-power-bank (I only found it on their Philippine page)
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/OPPO-VOOC-Flash-Charge-Power/dp/B00SINEEXA (Out of stock)
Good luck finding one.

Try vooc power bank and it won't give you exact same speed as dash charge as dash charge because that gives output of 4amps but the vooc power bank by vivo give 3.4amps but that should also be fast and it should work because vivo and oneplus are owned by same company and use same technology with different names

any one know
this 5V 4.2A can charge like dash?

Using a non-DASH charger and non-DASH cables?

I am thinking about buying the Oneplus 3 since I haven't changed my phone in a long time. I have a few questions about the charging.
Is the DASH charge just the wall adapter? Do I need to have a DASH charge specific USB-C cable?
Can I get DASH charge with a regular USB-C cable to DASH wall charger? (I am asking this because I use long cables because of the location of my outlets and workstation, ~10-15ft)
If I charge with a basic, QuickCharge, or non-DASH wall adapter will my charge speeds be basic or does it revert to QuickCharge (with quickcharge adapter) because it is using the SD820 chip? Also the same question if I use a non-DASH powerbank (I only need a small powerbank not the big ones they are making)?
I am not sure if this should be place here or in the Accessories forum. Please let me know thanks.
Thanks for the help.
1. For DASH charging you need both the adapter and the cable, both are specific and AFAIK there are no aftermarket alternatives.
2. No, with standard cables you won't get DASH speeds. Wires in normal cables are simply too thin to handle high current of DASH.
3. If you're using non-DASH charger and/or cable, you'll max out at about 1.5A, so a bit less than half the speed of DASH (could be slower, depending on hardware used). QuickCharge is not supported, it'll work at standard speeds.
4. Same logic applies to power banks. And DASH capable power banks don't exist (yet?), so it doesn't really matter what bank you're using.

Sorry but ive to correct you... Vooc charger and cable from Oppo can gives you dash charger. I think its same technology they just call it VOOC ... Ive bought the oppo wall charger + cable for half price of oneplus just to have it spare. And it dash charge
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks for the help. So just to clarify there is no QuickCharge but I can use DASH or VOOC products correct?
Do they work the same way where when I use a DASH/VOOC charger I MUST USE a DASH/VOOC usb-c cable in order to get rapid charging speeds?
Thanks

Oh, yeah, forgot about that, thanks for correction ?
DASH *may* have some slight software differences, but hardware is the same.
Still not a lot of choice when buying stuff, but at least a bit more.

Yes, DASH and VOOC will get you full charging speed, everything else will charge at standard speeds.

Can anyone provide me a link for the vooc charger and the oppo cable? If i can save some money buying those, then better.
EDIT: nvm i found them on ebay.
Thanks for the help.
Do you know of any long DASH/VOOC cables for sale somewhere?
On a side note do you know about the Oppo VOOC power bank (6000mah) since I read Oneplus is not making a DASH power bank anymore. Have you read about its DASH use or where to buy it?

Sadly I don't think this will ever exist ... OnePlus commented about cable length and they said they can't make it longer due to technical limitations (physics ...). High current = high resistance = lower max length.

Replacement wall charger with TurboPower

https://www.androidcentral.com/moto-g5-plus notes Charging - Micro-USB - 15W TurboPower charge
https://republicwireless.com/phones/moto-g5-plus/ offers the Ventev Wallport rq2300 Wall Charger for $30 (no proof of TurboPower)
https://www.motorola.com/us/products/turbo-power-15-wall-charger is $35

Has any purchased a wall charger that works with TurboPower?
Turbopower is Qualcomm's QC 3.0...
Any adapter that supports it will work fine...
Anker is my go to brand for everything charging..

Thanks for the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 information. :good:
Do you have the Anker 18W USB Wall Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016LO4UTA/ in hand? I am trying to get hands-on validation vs theory.
I rather not spend $25 https://www.amazon.com/forum/-/Tx3AP6362WYWF2K/ref=ask_dp_dpmw_al_hza?asin=B071HYYB4P "Another 15W QC3.0 certified charger could supply TurboPower to the Moto G5 Plus We don't want to definitively state there is not an equivalent charger to this one for the G5 Plus, but there should not be a superior alternative as this charger was specifically developed for the G5 Plus."

I use that same anker charger and it works the same as the original turbopower.
Also, any good micro-usb cable will work also. Some old cables may or may not work.

actually for the g5 and g5 plus it is only QC 2.0 but QC is backwards compatible and 3.0 will also work

That is correct. My mistake.
The point I was trying to make is that turbopower is not something specific to Motorola, just an industry standard in disguise.

Does anyone have a Quick Charge 2.0 wall charger in hand to confirm it charges with TurboPower? If yes, what is the model #?
I rather spend less money on a Quick Charge 2.0 wall charger than a 3.0 since the use case is to charge at the office. Ex. $10 for the SPN5864B

as i once wrote here https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/accessories/chargers-t3584554
this charger http://www.gearbest.com/iphone-cables-adapters/pp_322054.html does turbocharge the g5 plus without issues
I have multiple QC2 and 3 chargers around the house, and they all work fine
they always will because TurboCharge is just rebranded QuickCharge
SPN5864A = success!
I purchased a SPN5864A Wall Charger with a SKN6461A usb cable for $7.49 USD on ebay - LINK
"Motorola DROID Turbo 1.6 Amp Rapid Home Wall Charger SPN5864A - Super Fast Rapid Charging Charger - 15W of power - 1.6 Amp charger. Will charge Motorola devices with Adaptive TURBO Charging technology built in at an even faster rate! "
While the lock screen did not show the words fastcharge or turbocharge; AccuBattery did show the night and day difference. Screen caps of the old 463 millamps (mA) vs new SPN5864A charger 1989 mA pasted below.
Guess I'll go with the SPN5864B
Any Samsung charger for one of their last 3 or 4 flagships should work just fine. I literally have a bag of Samsung chargers from the S5 and S7 that all have the same ratings and work to Turbo charge the G5 Plus just fine. I use the Samsung charger at home and leave the Turbo Charger at the office.
I have a Asus Zenfone 2 18w charger (9v 2a, 5v 2a) and turbopower works perfectly when charging the G5 plus with it (got around 2400mah readings on Ampere app). Just in case anyone has one laying around, it's an option.
We use these around the house and for travel and they all work as you would expect.

I have a Tronsmart 5 port desk charger and a one port mini car charger, both with QC 2.0, both charge stupidly fast, both are awesome (just now, like half an hour ago, I plugged in my phone. at 14%, been watching YouTube all the time at full brightness, 60% charge).
I can add links to the chargers if someone wants, I'm just too lazy to do it right now.
The Samsung adaptive fast charging brick works for me
Huawei FCP Adapter - Huawei own variation of QC 2.0 also Turbo Charge G5 Plus.
Just ordered Xiaomi 10000 Power Bank 2 link --> https://www.gearbest.com/power-banks/pp_492337.html?vip=4087096 <-- and Turbo Charge works fine as well.
I bought a genuine SPN5864A on eBay for 7$. It has performed as intended since I received it.

OnePlus car charger

Hi everyone!
I have a car charger for my old phone, the OnePlus 3. But yesterday my Samsung Galaxy s8+ arrived and is now my daily driver .
My question is : Does a official OnePlus car charger (with dash charge) works for my Samsung Galaxy s8+? If so, does it damage the battery?
Kind Regards,
Pieter
I have tried mine with the old OnePlus dash charger and though it works, the charge speed is crazy slow. The phone was reporting that from about 40% it would take 5 hours to finish the charge.
Am guessing there is something propitiatory in the dash charger that is causing this. I dont use it on the S8 anymore, incase its damaging the battery somehow.

It won't damage the battery, but it also won't do fast charging as the Dash charging is proprietary and doesn't support Qualcomm's (also proprietary but much more widely used) Quick Charge 2 (or higher; QC is backwards compatible) that the S8/S8+ uses.
According to the car Dash Charger specs the standard (non-Dash) charge supports up to 5V at 2A, which is 10W. Compare this to the official Samsung charger's 9V at 1.67A (QC2), so provides 15W.

In theory then it should be able to charge the S8+ at two-thirds of the speed of the official charger, however it is possible there are other incompatibilities that slows it down - ie. the Dash charger won't provide the full 10W for some reason. A possibility might be the Dash charger cable, as from what I understand this is a bit different to a normal cable to support the Dash charging technology. Maybe try a high-quality standard USB and see if it charges any faster?
An aside: The S8/S8+ is the fact it can also fast charge over (the non-proprietary) USB Type C with 5V at 3A (also 15W). This isn't USB Power Delivery (USB-PD), just the 15W allowed by USB Type C, and since that can provide the full 15W the phone can use over QC2 there's no actual need for USB-PD - but most charges that support 5V at 3A are labelled as providing USB-PD and will work with the phone even if the phone don't use the 'PD' part of the spec.

does it use qc 3.0 or a LENOVO proprietary standard? read here....

from gsmarena:
We initially thought that the Rapid charging tech used by Lenovo must be Quick Charge 3.0 since the P2 uses a Qualcomm chipset. However, our third-party QC3.0 charger didn't charge the P2 particularly fast, so the jury is still out on whether Lenovo is using a proprietary charging technology.
so... my car charger and my power bank, BOTH qc 3.0 are useless with this phone??
Our charger is a basic 12V 2A charger, giving a total of 24W Power. I don't see anything special in the charger. It's probably not the usual QC we had heard of. I have seen in some reviews though about this charging technology being different and very interesting.
A problem would be: what charger for the car???
i have the phone and i can confirm it only uses the QC feature with the included CHARGER
no way to use any qc 2/3.0 charger....mmhhh bad decision lenovo!

I don't see your point. This charger outperforms any other chargers in the market even turbo and dash chargers.
Why do you ppl always end up blaming others.
because i am against the proprietary charging algorithms..... dash charge is great? NOPE.... it forces you to use a special cable, a special charger, no 3rd part suppliers... high price of chargers, is it a good move for the customer?
same thing for this lenovo charging solution, ok the fastest one, but if i lose che official charger i am stucked with the NORMAL 5v 2a solution....
this is not a great thing imho, and all power banks i have qith 7/9/12v qc features are USELESS with the lenovo p2......
You're thinking only voltage my friend, check if your power bank can supply 2A at 12V. Probably no. Mostly all power banks bottlenecks at 1.5A.
So, there isn't a way to use another charger for fast charging?

my xiaomi power bank 2 20000mah does have qc3.0 and it's tested to arrive higher than 2A at 12v ... but even if other chargers are "only" capable to reach 12v at 1,5A ... it is still a missed quick charge because p2 uses proprietary charge coding
ok this is not THEp roblem, but just a con. like for dash charge people repeat at eveyone that oneplus is the fastes... but hey without an available dach charge power bank... that phone is s "joke"
I have another QC3.0 wall charger, when i plug to P2 it's out put at 2A only not fast charge.
But when i plug original charger from P2 to another phone fsst charge status is become.
???
How many times will you open new topic for the same problem ?

Anker power bank Quick Charge to Dash Charger

Hye..since our 5t using 5V/4A charger, I would to ask about the anker power bank..is it suitable for op5t by using original dash cable n connect to qc3 anker power bank? Is there any adapter to convert qc3 to dash? Or any suggestion for power bank?
Thank you
Rgd
I just read about dash charge.
When 5T using any other charger/powerbank those are not an official dash charger + must official dash usb cable.
The phone will charge as normal (1.xx Amp).
Exactly. Oppo's charging tech puts the logic in the charger, so that tech is missing from the power bank.
