HiFi Audio Moto Mod/Snap for Moto Z phones - Coming soon - Moto Z Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello everybody,
I am working for some time on a DAC/ADC HiFi Audio Moto Mod/Snap with the good and old headphone jack and capable of delivering DSD64 content without downsampling, for those who like me miss a good quality from Moto Z.
My campaign at Indiegogo is going to get launched in a couple of days and I appreciate your comments.
Please spread the news to your network.

Wow,good news!!

SICK!! This is what was missing on the Moto Z If you do this and you use a decent chip, you just saved me 500$ from buying an X5 3rd gen. What is your intended target date for production?

@OrionTech any news on that kickstarter of yours?

Hello @karendar,
The project is on its way and the campaign is open at Indiegogo (HiFi Audio Moto Mod Snap for Moto Z phones), to help me raise funds to build it.
I am adjusting the integration of the early prototype with Android apps capable of integrating DACs. Which one do you use?
Also, been working with Arrow Electronics on the design.
And hope to have soon news from Motorola about the partnership to build it.
You can follow the updates via Indiegogo, Facebook or Twitter.

Thanks for the response. I saw your indiegogo a few days ago and have been following it, but there's another indiegogo that just opened up for another Hifi dac, so I got confused on who was who. Your indiegogo doesn't have any actual perks for a DAC as opposed to them, so I contributed 9$ to encourage you for the time being.
I'm currently using the Poweramp 3 alpha which does have DAC support and seems to work fine with a Fiio X5 in OTG mode on my Moto Z force... I haven't had many other apps to play around with though.
If you need any help/feedback, keep me posted! I'm eager to see if I can save myself from buying a Fiio X5 3rd gen with a solution like this
Thanks!

Sweet! Can't wait.

Guess this is dead? Wish it was an option. What a great idea.

Yeah, was pretty dissapointed this didn't see the light of day... It would have been the best of both worlds when it came to DAC/AMP/Phone... I've personally moved on to the LG V30 to get the quad DAC.

Lapdocks for Everybody! (almost)

In case you haven't heard there is a kickstarter for a product called Casetop. In short it is a lapdock style dock for numerous phones from Acer to ZTE. I personally have sold my Nexus One with some nice goodies to help fund this as well as offered my experience and skills with similar types of setups. Here is a vid of it in action.
.......
Think of it as a netbook with free upgrades for the life of the Casetop!
In addition to my support, fellow xda dev zacthespack of LinuxOnAndroid fame has expressed his support of the project as well. A result of this is that I will reexamine Android/Linux hybrid setups and give my findings to the Linux-On-Android team should it become a reality. So if you ever wanted an Asus Padfone or something similar but could not afford it, this may be the way to go. Now you may think that the projected asking price is a little too high but price out an 11.1 HDMI display, BT keyboard and massive battery and the Casedock starts to look pretty inexpensive. Compared to the Padfone it a steal.
I will also examine hw level mods to improve the dock as well and give those findings to the Livi-Design team. This is not about fame or money for me but getting tech convergence into the mainstream and breathing life back into a stagnating industry.
This is awesome. Once I replace my car in the next two weeks and get some money I so buying into this. Thanks for the info!

Thanks guys!
Good news everyone! Livi Design is run by a Linux Nerd! Open sauce everything! The only thing I'm keeping to myself is the specific designs for the Casetop main body. EVERYTHING else will be given away I have already posted the Frontbar files on thingiverse, and I'll be posted the specs to interface with the main body (where the ports are when the Casetop is closed, etc)
So, basically what we need is more eyes but I think we're starting to get some more traction again...we shall see.
Thanks again!

Let's get the minuum keyboard on the Moto 360

EVERYBODY get on and email them!! Make sure they know there's a demand! Maybe if enough people request this it will happen. Here's their email.
[email protected]
I emailed minuum and this was their response.
Thanks for letting us know! Unfortunately, based on current development priorities it seems unlikely we will have a finished version for the Moto 360 anytime soon.
If you haven't already, I recommend following us on your preferred social media network(Google+,Twitter,Facebook) and/or signing up for ourmailing listin order to receive the latest Minuum news, including any plans for a Moto 360 release.
All the best,
I joined the mailing list a couple days ago and put 360 as my watch. If demand is high enough, it will come.
I sent them an email as well saying a huge part of XDA is requesting it, etc.
A post in a different topic:

"Right now we are very focused on our iOS release but we hope to resume development on our circular version soon. I recommend and signing up for our Smart Watch Mailing List(http://minuum.us4.list-manage1.com/subscribe?u=ca045cd04e580f1a87d5b9c63&id=3f537d0efb) to keep up to date with all Minuum for smart watches related news."

So be patient. It'll come. iOS just has a bigger user base than Moto 360, so that gets priority

I had email conversation with Prem Business Dev @ Minuum. Since there was no demand the project was put on hold. Now they are working on a working beta.

Are you sure? This is an email I just got from Prem:
"Hi Omar,
Thanks for the input and we will definitely take it into consideration.
You would be surprised at the development resources necessary to completely rebuild Minuum for a circular watch face. Though we would love to just fully develop every cool permutation of Minuum, we are constrained by the resources available to us.
To be honest, the only realistic way we might be able to justify doing this is if the Android Wear A. officially opened up their platform to third-party keyboards and B. if a circular watch manufacturer engaged us in some sort of partnership.
Though this could happen, I don't see this being likely in the very near future.
Best,"
I replied back to him asking for a beta if possible or something that can at least be temporarily functional for the time being until greater resources are available.

Yes. From our conversion, it looks like they have been working on the Moto 360 and the keyboard is currently in development. I would like close to finish product to try because I have a feeling this might drain our battery.

It has almost no effect to battery life on my g watch. If that means anything. Couldn't be that much different

Agreed. Keyboards are not supposed to drain battery. Their coding is not that vast where it requires so much memory to be used. Someone got the STOCK android keyboard to come up by accident if you saw in the minuum thread. Maybe we can utilize that in the mean time? Anyone know how to enable it? I know adb has to be used. I'm assuming Minuum used the stock apk and built upon that.

Hi. The post I put up earlier shows that Sony can't tell us whether they will update the smartwatch. Could someone find a way to confirm that the watch will be updated so that I could by one
Unfortunately until it's officially confirmed individual emails from various members of customers services are likely to say different things.
Even official posts on Twitter or other social media site still do not guarantee android 2 on the swr50.
It's just a waiting game and fingers crossed...love my watch as it is now and yes aw2 would be nice but I did not buy it with that in mind....
What I also find suspicious is that aw2 is already out in preview mode for other watch phones yet nothing for swr50.
Not a good sign....But enjoy your watch now.
No mention of Sony Smartwatch 3 in list for Wear 2.0.
http://www.theverge.com/2016/12/22/14057656/google-smartwatch-android-wear-2-0-launch
android central also posted the list, no AW2.0 for SW3..
http://www.androidcentral.com/these-are-smartwatches-will-get-android-wear-20
:crying:
oh well, time to save up for something else and move on. It's been great SW3, but it looks like your time on my wrist is almost at an end. Note to self - you're not buying a watch, you're buying a phone accessory, so expect to replace it as often as your phone.
i think they will manage it somehow, why they would confirm it on twitter, support etc.

On one hand. Getting AW2.0 would be good to keep the device alive. BUT... All or most of the AW2.0 Dev Previews were for ROUND devices and the UI looks to be made around that form factor. And the SWr50 is Square... I think AW1.5 better suits SWr50 more that AW2.0.

Good point. Also, the sources that told you which devices are getting AW2.0 can't confirm anything... They can only go off what information they have. As Sony hasn't given anything, we just have to wait and see. Them not putting the SWr50 on the list is just lack of information for the time being.
I have written to Sony Support a moment ago and i'll see.

No, they added round screen lists, they didn't take square away. Square watches won't have round menus.
Zen 2 and M600 are getting 2.0, anyway.

Yeah, I think it's best to get in contact with the technical department or something because I guess the people in charge of the commercial aspect (twitter/FB) will probably say something like that " Wait for the notification to appear " even tho they don't know much about current or future firmware developing of android wear.

Exactly
Just to add my thoughts.... The sony z3 had an android 7.0 beta but was never released with sony saying it couldn't because it did not meet googles hardware rules. Specifically support for opengl 3.0 or vulkon. I wonder if its the same for the smartwaches as they will be upgraded to 7.1. I know the sw3 has opengl 2.0 but not sure what each watch on the list has.(Apart from nixon and moto sport have opengl 3.0). Any way if its not that then maybe something similar.

Petition to carry WearOS 2 to SW3

Hello everyone,
I want to make a request if someone can wear Wear OS 2 to our Sony Smartwatch 3.
I have been watching the advances of Pdesire and I am sure that it is a project that can be very interesting for many people.
Many people have SW3 yet and smartwatches like LG with similar hardware have been able to have WearOS 2 without problems.
I know it is hard work, but it is a project that would give a new life to our smartwaches.
We could talk to Pdesire to facilitate the progress he made and continue.
It is not an obligation, I only write in case some developer is interested, since it would make us very happy to the community that we still use it.
Thank you very much in advance.
+1
+1 I am still using it as my daily driver... I'd even toss in some money if spent transparently and I'd beta test for sure.
Too late guys, pdesire project is dead since a year.
Sony stop dev for this watch, sources are obsolete.
And smartwatch 3 does not have the features required by google to support wear 2
Yeah i hate this.. I'm looking for Roms or that for the SW3 cause i love my watch i have various original straps and i wouldn't like stop using it but is kinda obsolete... I tried the Fitwear software too and it doesn't have the google apps so i don't like it..
I'm even thinking about getting a Lg G watch R they are arround 50€ secondhand.. only to experience Android Wear 2 cause SW3 is so dead... :'(
