Help!! I tried to put on a new theme and it all went wrong.

I tried to put on a new theme and it went horribly wrong. Touch flow is completely busted. All I have is a white screen with NO tabs at the bottom and the time showing in the upper corner and the work "Title" in the middle. If someone can help me restore it to the original look I would be happy. I am using duty 2.1 on an T8285 HD.
Hi
I did exactly the same thing earlier today, unfortunately I don't think the theme you tried to install is compatible with duttys 2.1 as I found out earlier. I managed to solve the problem only by doing a hard reset which restored it to how it was just after I put duttys 2.1 rom on it. I'm not sure if there is any other way unless you delete the correct manilla files from the windows directory but i'm afraid I don't know what these are
if you can still sync, remember to back up anything important.
Good luck hope this helps
I tried a hard reset and it did not work.
did you tried to use the Max TF3D Theme Maker to restore orginal ?
(I didn't know if the software itself contains any OE Manila files.... but I used the restore orginal w/o backup ..and it did the job....so.. it's just a build suggestion you can try)
Fixed
I re-flashed the rom and started over. I had not done too much to the device so I will have it back to where I was in no time.
before reflashing there is also the option to delete all *_manila files in /windows
stuff will be replaced after softreset

All themes except 1 freezing on install

Hey guys. I'm pretty new here, and I've had my G1 for about a month, only rooted it just last week.
I've installed several themes with out problems... the most recent one I installed was the Super Mario theme by RandumAccess and it went in just fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492398 (this theme)
However, I've since tried to install other themes and none work! They all freeze on the second loading screen, where it says (or usually does, at least) "android" followed by the flashing driod bot.
I've attempted to install three different themes and they all do the same thing. I'm forced to put the Mario theme back on my SD card (via another phone), then re-install it and it loads up just fine.
I'm hoping there's a way to fix with that doesn't result in wiping my phone, it's a pain to redownload all those friggin apps!
It will help us to help you if you can document the exact steps you took when trying to install the other themes sans Mario.
Thanks!
Have u tried reinstalling the original? That usually gets my phone back for me when testing my theme images.
I HAD the same problem too- trying to flash back to my own theme from sterriccson's comp theme. In the end i just stayed with the comp theme and modded it to my likings. I think it's a conspiracy to make us stay on that theme
could be many things, the file you installed could be corrupt, try copying it over to your sd car again, if that doesn't work, try downloading it again. Also do you have your apps saved to your sd card? That has been known to cause issues before, something I just had to work on with Dark Knight since it was a full update. One more thing to check, which themes are you installing that are freezing?
Sometimes its good to install a fresh JFv1.42 before you switch to a new theme because sometimes things from one theme will carry over to the next. And alot of these themes are pretty large. Maybe you should try RC33 Lite before installing another theme.

wow my theme is the only one? cool! LOL
Man you might need a wipe and start with a fresh jf1.42. I recommend to always do a back up and learn how to fastboot your back up to your phone. It gives you peace of mind to know that if anything happens like that you can always flash your back up and your phone is back to the state it was even if you have to wipe. No more reloading apps.
I love how he tells us what theme works on his phone but forgets to tell us what rom is installed on his phone.
You can not apply Any/All themes on any rom.
The themes have to be built for the rom your phone uses.

I like how you referred to me as if I'm not capable of replying to the thread.
I understand the fact that you cannot install any theme to any ROM. I always check to make sure it's a version compatible with mine.
I could have sworn I installed the JF 1.42, but in the bootloader it was JF 1.41...
It's RC33 as well. I figured most would just assume I have the latest update... why wouldn't you?
Since the Mario theme I've tried out FadetoBlue (didn't work after putting it on the SD card twice), minimalDroid (redownloaded, didn't work), and the standard RC33 theme that Stericson (I believe) posted.
Its not good to assume anything when doing technical stuff, you could have adp1.1 or RC 9, how do we know?
Never wipe first, not necessary, reinstall the JF 1.42 stock, then flash your theme, might need to remove the system tones, or put them on the sd.

I never mentioned that you're not capable of replying.
In my experience with this forum, nothing can be ASSUMED.
Especially with a phone that most newcomers are still trying to figure out.
The wording "I like how he" just sounded like you were addressing others about me, in my thread.
So I guess I'm willing to do a wipe and reinstall RC33, this time I'll just do RC33 Lite.
Anyways, my question is do I need to do something before hand? Or just throw the zip on my card and load from it? I hear you guys say "wipe," will I need to do something prior?

I want to change themes, how can I?

I have been spending the last 2 weeks flashing rom after rom (mainly HERO ROMs) and i bored of them
i want to go back to the Cyanogen 4.0.2 ROM and i see all these people applying themes with ease. how do you do this?
when i had my stock Mytouch NON ROOT i had to download an app called OPEN HOME and then download themes from the ap store but OPEN HOME made my phone so slow so i got rid of it. (even though i paid for it)
i just want a nice clean rom with a clean theme (i like that new google chrome theme i saw)
never mind, i got it. didnt know it was as easy as just copying it to your SC card and going into recoveyr mode and hitting update.
if i want to change themes often can i just copy the new theme to the SD card and go into recovery >update every time? or do i need to reflash the Cyanogen ROM first before doing a new theme every time?
i read somewhere where someone said they were just flashing themes over each other and something messed up and someone told them to reflash the Cyanogen ROM but NOT do a WIPE and they would be good.

i was wondering the same
i always wipe when i change themes. just because i dont want to deal with the headaches later if something from the old theme messes with the new theme. but i'm no expert.

[Q] Unable to change wallpaper

I recently successfully rooted my HTC Incredible and am running the Sense ROM. I received a update notification for a live wallpaper, Particle Storm, and performed the update. Then I applied the live wallpaper. I wanted to reset it back to the HTC static wallpaper. When I went into Menu>Wallpaper>HTC Wallpaper, it was showing a blank screen with none of the HTC wallpapers available to be changed. I looked in the system/customize/resources folder via Astro and all the HTC wallpapers were there. I went back into the Wallpaper menu and tried to apply it via Gallery through Astro. It would state that the wallpaper had been changed, but it wouldn't actually change the wallpaper. I tried applying the wallpapers directly from Astro, but Gallery would Force Close and the wallpaper wouldn't change.
I looked on several forums and people suggested rebooting the device or taking the battery out and re-inserting it. Neither of these worked to any effect. I tried to revert back to a saved backup of the Sense ROM, and although my previous wallpaper was restored, I still am unable to change the static wallpapers.
I apologize for boring you with the details, but I would appreciate if someone could tell me what the problem is and if there is a fix for it. Also, I apologize if I overlooked a thread that answered this question.
Try reinstalling your entire ROM fresh - not a backup. Wipe the dalvik cache too, first. Hope that helps!
Rooted Inc 2.2.1 S-off
LauncherPro +
2.15.00.11.19 Radio
CyanogenMod 6.1.0 Inc
Invisiblek aosp Kernel #28
I hope you've uninstalled Particle Storm. That would be the first thing I would have tried. Was the backup you restored prior to installing Particle Storm?

I'm sorry for being AWOL for a while, was traveling and busy. I did uninstall Particle Storm and that didn't help. I will try and re-installing a fresh Sense ROM and see if that fixes it.
I wanted to try CM6, since I heard many good things about it, so I installed that, and I like it a lot better than Sense. If I do decide to go back to it, I'll install a fresh version.
Again, sorry for not responding earlier. Thanks again.

[Q] installing theme - getting green screen

Hello, well I'm trying to install this theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047796
However when I install it through recovery It doesn't install properly. The boot animation, font, lockscreen, status bar icons (bar signal and battery) all change how they are supposed to but if I switch over to my phone dialer I get a hidious bright livid green background which isn't meant to be there and I can't work out why.
What I did:
Downloaded Oceanis v 1.6 and installed zip. I didn't change any of the folders.
Suggestions? Cheers guys.
Also as a side note, would I be correct in saying now that if I make a backup with nandroid I can switch roms freely and just backup to a previous rom when I feel like a change?
I incredibly stupidly never backed up my stock rom and I really want to flash back to it and back it up so that I have a backup to stock incase the phone ever dies on me and needs to go back. Though I realise I'd have to unroot as well before I sent it back.
:EDIT:
dammit wrong forum!
Noone got any ideas?
