h2os bottom drawer - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Anyone willing to port/remake the bottom drawer from h2os mm? I really love it and it is a good thought out idea coming from the Chinese roms, especially for devices with such a large screen where sliding the status bar needs two hands or one hand with phone moving.

I too love this bottom drawer. It would be better if someone ports this to Oxygen OS. I know this means the total System Ui must be changed.. But still,. this is good call for phones with large display.
Hope @xda -developers, anyone can try..
Thanks in advance if this is ported..

New Sliding Panel Homescreen!!! ODPanels!!

Hey ya'll.
I've been working on a new idea for the sliding panels layout. It is fully functional so far, I am currently working on the exe for everyone, so that you may keep your current layout order and all icons, then have them swapped to the new panel layout.
Below are some pics of what it looks like. For all intensive purposes, what I have done is position the layout of the screen so that the panels still move left to right, but scrolling between panels is done also left to right using the icons at the bottom of the homescreen. You still push up and down to scroll between the panels, but it appears as though it's moving left to right.
I am still going to spice up the resolution of the pngs for the different icons, but here it is so far. In a few days, I will have a cab posted for everyone to download. This is a solo project for me, so it will take a little longer since there is no one but me working on this.
Check out post #2 for additional pics.
Let me know what you think!!
Here are some more photos
Here's the rest of the shots I have so far.
the pictures look great.
im just not sure what you mean by the up/down and left/right etc. stuff.
could you explain?
but besides thatttt... good job =]
easy
Simple, Watson.
LOL, what I meant was, you scroll through the panels just as before, there's no difference in the motions.
With this new layout though, instead of your condensed icons running from top to bottom, I have put them at the bottom of the screen in a bar/slider.
Now you have the entire homescreen to display your active panels, and have an even COOLER row of condensed icons, that scroll as you move from panel to panel. That's it.

It looks like the launcher/panel/bar/whatever in MacOS X. "Mousing over" the icons with the up/down keys shows the panel for that icon. Right and left then work just like they do now. Right?
Yep
Right-O me matey. By the way, wassup beartard, we haven't talked in forever. How's it going? I'll get with you on the im, later.
Hope you like this. We can customize this to make it work anyway you want. This has a bar like you call MacOS X, I'd like to refer to it as more of an "Object Desktop" kinda thing. I will have some more theme ideas for this as well with some new dll's for the bronzeres.dll. You can already see some of that from the screenshots I have.

Hi i love the idea and am going to try it out.
suggestion thought i think it might look cleaner if the panel on top the active one i mean had some sort of border or something to case it in. I bet that intails alot of work but i thought that might look nice.
maybe a light round cornered rectangle of equal proportions for all panels transparent just a faint white? LOL like the original slideing panels but youre setup lol
Looks really sweet so far man, will it include your weather app as well? Great work looks like it will be a much needed change to sliding panels!
It does look great, good job
Good job, it looks great. So when will this be available to use for download?
I am about ready
I have this setup for layouts already. I am trying to figure out how the hell to customize this for everyone, I am having luck, but it's coming along slowly.
I am glad you all like this so far. I am going to make this work with my weather app, plus as far the weather app is concerned I am gonna have to make it have this app be compatible, so there is a lot to do. I wanted to let you all know that the way this works will cause all of your custom panels to be located over a general "small" icon on the bottom row.
What I mean by that is, this uses your iconpaths in your registry, so that you don't have to use my custom made icons. You can keep your own. But since all of the custom panels have the same GUID value in the registry, it will put your icons for your custom panels all over the bottom row and not look pretty, so in order to fix this, I have to put all of your custom icons in one area on the bottom row of icons. If you look at the screenshots, you can see what I mean. All of your active icons will display over the generic hard drive icon, which represents your custom panels. Other than this one thing, it works flawlessly. Unless I here some serious flack about that one thing I just mentioned, I should have this out in a day or so.

Oh right on, well I will be waiting for this. Thanks again for putting something like this together.
Here's some more shots
I have toyed around with having a background for the icons at the bottom.
I am gonna make several different layouts with different pics, but this structure of the homescreen will stay the same regardless. It will always be a left to right sliding look.
Also, I have gotten integrated with my weather app.
Also, I have made some new xml's for this, you can choose from the iconbar uptop, which will have new icons, you can also have one with no iconbar, or one with the topbarnotes plugin on top. All of these will come with a version with a background for the iconbar or topbarnotes and a version of each with no background.
I will post more screenshots later. Got the family thing to do for now, enjoy.

Tablet UI

Yes, I know it's been brought up quite a bit...
This is really bugging me. I had the original Kindle Fire and put ICS on it and loved it. The Honeycomb-style user interface rocks. I bought a Nexus 7 thinking that I'd be able to put it into that mode with KitKat (the point of owning the Nexus # is to have the latest and greatest, right?), but have found myself unable to do so.
Is there any way possible to enable this on 4.4? I'm running into a gap on this discussion; most stopped talking about it about a month ago it seems. AOKP? Do I have to copy and paste the tablet UI code from 4.2 into 4.4?
This is Android. ANYTHING is possible. I know it has the potential to be done.

I was under the impression that google removed the tablet UI from kitkat altogether.
I thought I wasn't going to like the phablet UI but I got used to it, and now it just makes sense to me on a tablet this size. I say give it a chance, you might grow to like it.
I hate it, i'm forever catching the navbar when typing in landscape or passing the device to a friend because of thin bezel, it'd better located on it's side in the same portrait position next to the shortcuts & apps drawer button.

I do agree with this. When in landscape it is in the most inconvenient place possible. I would love a way to force it to remain on the right side but I haven't been able to find a solution other than setting the whole tablet into phone UI mode which then messes with the notifications shade.
If you're only problem is the nav bar, try GMD auto hide soft keys. It works great.

I tried that, not really what I'm looking for. I don't want something that overlays the navbar and hides it when not in use, I want a permanent navbar that just stays on the right side of the screen. With GMD even if I turn auto hide off, it will still hide it when I rotate the screen, and when I swipe to bring it up it always covers part of my dock icons.
Have you tried gravity box xposed module? It gives you the ability to run pie. Or if that's not your thing in navigation bar tweaks it has an always on the bottom feature. It shouldn't be too difficult to make it always on the "short side".Why not ask the Developer in his thread ?

Yep, I use GB on all my devices. I use PIE + expanded desktop when I want to game in full screen. The always on bottom tweak isn't what I'm looking for either. I want it to remain on the right in landscape. I appreciate the input though.

No probs. The part about keeping the navigation on the "short side". I meant on the right (Short Side). It`s worth asking the developer surely
CM10+ and PA had the tablet UI I though and you could pit it on the right hand side. I'm not sure if this applies with the newest KitKat builds though.

Hiding the navigation bar? *Update Inside*

I know the pixel is a new phone but I'm just curious if there's a genius out there that knows how to disable it so we can use gestures. I hate the stock navigation.
I hate it too! I want the old style navbar back! The code was there to activate it if you wanted but this is Google forcing what they want on us!

It is weird, all the code and icons are still there. Most everything is the same as the Pixel 2 xl. Someone might be able to. The smali code is a little different but not much.
Hoping someone finds a command to disable it, plus I'd love to have more screen real estate.
I hear ya,,,I just dont get it,,why not leave the option there to use it? It would be one thing if they deleted the code and its not there,,,but it is LOL,,,give us the option. I cant stand this new navbar! And from what I read on all the other Android sites there are more that dont like it than do.

[Request] Taller status bar

Oi, mates.
So, as we all know, the OP6T has a notch. Issue with it compared to Google's native software implementation is that the status bar mostly behaves like the notch isn't there.
If we take a look at the developer options, we can simulate a display cutout with the "Double display cutout" which realigns the status bar and gives it more breathing space. Unfortunately, that also makes the notch bigger as the OS simulates the bigger notch.
I've attached screenshots of both of the layouts.
If someone could possibly modify the layout to use a layout made for notches, I'd really really appreciate it. I believe this can be achieved via a substratum theme or a Magisk module that utilises the OOS.
If I'm being unclear or you're wondering something regarding the simulated notch (maybe using OSS to patch out the black bar so it's invisible?) Then please let me know and I'll try to elaborate.
Thank you in advance and I'm really hoping someone will fullfil the request.
Bump
The status bar is already tall enough to accommodate the notch, what exactly are you asking for?

I'm asking for an option to use the stock AOSP layout.
It might be nice if it also aligned with the end of the corner radius, as at the moment there's still a bit of dispay curve below the status bar and it kind of looks sloppy.

The AOSP implementation is to make the status bar as tall as the notch, which is what they are currently doing. I don’t see what you think the benefit will be if extra space is added.

I did. Since your the only person that would want something weird like that I very much doubt someone is going to take the time to make a useless mod
I think you're being 100% unclear as to what benefit what your asking for even has. Out of the box implementation is just fine in mine and probably nearly everyone but yourself book. If you want someone to go out of their way to make something you might want to give an actual use case for what your asking for or it's unlikely anyone will even try. Just my 2 cents though.

It's literally the way AOSP is. I use Google's gestures too, which people usually dislike even though OnePlus gestures are available. Why would I do that? Because I want a stock setup. Android is about choice, not "why that's pointless". Do you attack all those people with custom Zelda themed battery indicators and odd icon packs?
You can literally toggle this layout. Only issue is that you get a bigger notch.

What if people would like a stock layout? It's literally how Google implemented it. OnePlus modified it on top of what Google made (they basically removed it altogether but whatever)
Why would someone want a taller status bar? It's nothing but a waste of screen space. If anything, I'm trying to find a way to hide the status bar and display apps underneath the notch as if it doesn't exist.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything here just trying to help, I guess I just don't get why what we have doesn't work for you. Maybe an AOSP rom would have what your looking for (pixel experience did release).

That's what YOU prefer. Why is it so hard to grasp your mind around my preference? I prefer my status bar to be at a good position according to the curvature of the display. I work as a UX designer, and things like this bother me. I'd like to see if someone could take a look at this because it's a fairly simple task.
I didn't ask for your opinion, so please, just leave.

That's the thing, I like the stability and battery life of the stock ROM. + smart boost is a nice thing to have with 8GB of RAM. I don't think any other ROM (unless stock-based) will have those features. I literally just want a Pixel skin slammed on top of OxygenOS to revert what OnePlus changed. Someone will likely respond with "you should have bought a Pixel" but let's hope not.
Android is about freedom, right? That's why I'm asking for help to customise it to my liking. It's not even a big request.

No worries, cheers. I know small stuff can cause lots of trouble, but from what I've seen, every single one of these cutout simulations are APKs with resources in them. Using OSS to replace their backgrounds to transparent ones would possibly work, but it's just a theory. I appreciate it

Question How to pin apps to new taskbar?

Hey all, hope everyone is having an awesome day!
As the title says, has anyone figured out how to pin apps to the new taskbar. I only ever get the two frequent apps and nothing to the left. I am using swipe gestures and saw a video that confirmed it still works using swipe but I cannot figure it out and am grateful for any advice or help in advance.
Thanks!
not sure but.. gess you asked for that no?
It's the apps that you pin to the bottom row in One UI Home - they will then be visible in the taskbar - pinned there.
