Daydream VR Experiences? - OnePlus 3T Accessories

I'm looking to get my Hand on to a mobile VR experience. I tried a cheap cardboard variant which was, lets say not so great. I had the Note 4, but was unable to get my hands on a gear vr. Plus, that's expensive...
The Daydream Headset feels like a great middle ground. Not to expensive and well made. I know that, with magisk, we can get daydream VR to work on the 3T. Has anyone had some actual experience with this setup? I know 1080p isn't ideal, but for 70 bucks i'm not searching for a vive competitor. I'd just like to have some fun with 360 videos and those casual games google offers. Is this viable

DayDream VR does work with a simple Magisk module
I haven't got my hands on with any kind of vr headset, not even a google cardboard. Planning to get one in the near future.
But the OnePlus 3T is a lot more than capable for VR and it does support DayDream with a very minor tweaking procedure
Go to "Settings" -> "About Phone" -> enable developer options by tapping on the build number 7 times
Allow OEM Unlocking and Enable USB debugging (Also, make sure you've set up ADB and fastboot on your PC)
Shut Down the phone
Power On while hlding Volume Up key (Goes to Fastboot mode) -> fastboot oem unlock -> Select Yes using Volume Keys on phone and press power button
Boot into TWRP, Flash Magisk, Download Magisk Manager from Play Store -> Download and install "Daydream VR for OnePlus 3T"
Reboot
Download Daydream App and Daydream Keyboard from the PlayStore
You're set
Enjoy

Can someone confirm that Daydream is working with the Daydream View on the 3T with this method?
I couldn't get to work for more than a few seconds with the manual method that worked on the 3.

I've got a Google Daydream VR Headset and I use it every night on my One Plus 3T.
All I had to do was install a Magisk Module that makes and phone supported. It doesn't take long at all. I can link to the original thread if you like.

Could you please do that? It would be very appreciated - along with the rom version you're currently using.

Bluetooth trusted thingys and Skip for Moto X

This looks interesting. I have also seen a small Bluetooth device for your keys that works as a trusted connection to keep your phone unlocked which would be a better solution. Also using a Pebble watch or the like would work too.

As far as I know, the Ultra/Mini/Maxx cannot do NFC unlock like the Moto X can, so those Skip tags won't help with an Ultra/Mini/Maxx. However, I have a Pebble watch, and, as a trusted BT device, it's great.
The last update put Motorola Skip Setup on my Maxx, so maybe it will work soon. Also, if you have the Xposed framework installed, you can install the NFC LockscreenOff Enabler module and use a NFC sticker/keychain to unlock your phone. While you are at it, get the GravityBox module as well. It has some awesome options to customize your phone.

If you buy the skip and touch it to the back, it suppose to start the setup. I had to watch about 5 YouTube videos to find that out.

honor view 10 or 5t

Currently have an honor view 10, great phone but having major issues with the image stabilisation.
The camera is very important for me and I've just currently bought a 5t hoping to take the view 10 back (2 days old)
Can somebody help me with some questions.
1. How is the dual sim function does it work on different roms etc
2. Should I flash a custom Rom or stick with stock oxygen.
I hate ads
3. Any issues I should know about.
Thanks hopefully will be sticking with the 5t.
I know the 6 is around the corner but budget is tight
Oxygen Os should be something you keep; custom roms don't tend to make use of all the hardware features (notification slider, camera) as well. only oxygen os would allow you to shoot 30 second exposures. Also, i personally use magisk on oxygen os and xposed with a safety check module so I can still use snapchat and disable notification bar for gestures
Can you plz mention which safety module u talking about? Whenever i flash xposed for Oreo beta 3 zip it bricks safety net. I'm on OB5 btw.

Period.

[Magisk Module] Bring back Google Daydream VR

Google quietly discontinued Daydream VR with the Pixel 4. If you have an existing Daydream VR viewer, it's useless with your Pixel 4. Fortunately, with root, we can re-enable support. While Daydream VR and phone-based VR in general are dying out, you can still use existing services like YouTube VR and other VR apps.
How to Install
Flash the Magisk Module attached to this thread and reboot.
Install Daydream from APKMirror.
Install Daydream Keyboard from APKMirror.
Note: If you don't hear any audio in Daydream, try running the following command in a rooted shell:
Code:
setprop persist.audio.vr.enable true
My Magisk Module should have already set this value, though.
Thanks, I was looking into getting one of those for YT, so I appreciate it!
Thats awesome thank you. And its nice thats its still a Pixel 4 in settings and not changed to Pixel 1 like other modules do.

Yeah, I wasn't satisfied with how a bunch of other modules were adding so much unnecessary stuff. This has just the bare minimum needed to get it working.
this works great! I can't use google photos though
Works great, thanks!
Anyone else notice there seems to be pixel ghosting? My original Pixel XL seemed to have hard time rendering smoothly, however movement had text semi readable, when still it was good.
However on my Pixel 4 XL, even slight movement makes text a blurry mess. Anyone know if this is an issue with display technology, or if it is a setting to fix?
I already tried:
force 90hz via developer settings
disable battery optimization for VR services, Daydream, Daydream Keyboard, and "Basic Daydream"... not sure what that last one is, but figured worth trying to disable battery optimization for that too, but no change, still blurry text at even very slight movement.
I appreciate this sharing
Thank you for this. Who in the world would have thought Google would discontinue this on their new phone!!
Anyone else having issues or know of a fix with apps closing when trying to load them in Daydream?
Thank you ! Is this specific to Pixel 4 or can I try to apply it on different phones ?
My sister will get a Xiaomi Mi 9 lite during holidays for example, would that have a chance to be usable ?
Ok, I rooted my phone, installed the magisk module, and the the daydream app and keyboard. However, when I put my phone in the headset, it still gives me an error message of "incompatible phone". What am I doing wrong?

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. I had it fixed for a while, but I'm just now uploading it. The problem was that the module template was outdated, so I used MishaalRahman's file, changed the module template to the updated one, and repackaged it. And it works like a charm now, on all updates, including Jan and Feb. Anyway, just download the module attached to this post, and remember to install Daydream and the Daydream Keyboard(those links can be found on the first post).

[No root] Finally, an app to enable native Lift To Wake (lockscreen)

OnePlus Lift To Wake
TL, DR. Where is the download?
github.com/xubowenhaoren/OPLiftToWake/releases
What does it do?
This is a simple app to enable Lift To Wake for OnePlus 7 series.
It is not the Lift To "Ambient Display" in the stock Settings App; it enables the true Lift To "Lock Screen" like other phones.
Why do I want this feature?
You've probably already known that OnePlus, in Android 10, reveals the notification content on the lock screen after Face Unlock.
But to see those notifications, you either need to:
1. Pick up the phone and unlock with your finger at the Ambient Display. A two-step process.
2. Pick up the phone and press the power button. Again, a two-step process.
Now with the app, you can pick up the phone and the lock screen immediately shows up.
How does it do this?
It listens to the native system sensor (`oneplus.sensor.pickup`). In my testing, it is very power efficient.
What phones does it support?
I have tested this on a OnePlus 7T with Android 10. It should also work with other OnePlus 7 series.
Note that for earlier OnePlus phones, there is also a [pickup sensor] but with a different name.
If you want this app to work with earlier OnePlus phones, you should try replacing this line in `Utils.java` with the correct sensor name:
```
mSensor = Utils.getSensor(context, mSensorManager, "oneplus.sensor.pickup");
```
How do I use it?
You probably want to turn off the Ambient Display first.
After installing the app, turn on the "Lift To Wake" toggle.
You should also consider turning off the battery optimization of the app for a more consistent background performance.
Do I need Magisk for this?
No, it is root-free.
Credits
Much of the code is from the Lineage OS team.
Other code references can be found in the code comments.
This is brilliant!! Appears to be working great... Will provide an update on power efficiency in a while

I've made efforts to enable this service after reboot. It wasn't successful, however. Oxygen OS has a strict whitelist of apps that may start automatically after a reboot. One way to work around this is to use Accessibility Service, but that could cause more battery drain. Lol, I think it's better to leave things this way.
Very useful app, this was my most demanding functionality after bought OP7T
Thank You For this
Can u add to the store please?
Nice app. Thnks
It works great for op7t, but doesn't work for Op7.
On op7, the screen lights up, but faceunlock is not available.
You need to click on faceicon first to work (screens in atach).
But, if you unlock op7 via the power button (second screen in atach) - faceunlcok works great!
Is there any solutions for op7?
Works as it should! But screen wakes a lot while inside the pocket.
Very useful mod, thx for that
Only issue that it doesn't work anymore after some hours,i need to start the app again to get it working again for a few hours. I already have disabled battery optimisation. Any ideas to fix this?
Regards ysco..
Hello, how can i make it work on Oneplus 8?
This app is great, something I've been looking for a while. But, it doesn't work consistently. It stops after a few hours after I enable it. Then I have to open the app and then it will 'realize' the switch is still on and start working again. Is there a solution for this?
Thanks bud!! It works like a charm!!
Looks really helpful.
Works good also.
Thanks.

Question Google Screen Call For OP9/9Pro

Hey there guys!
I just wanted to post this in case anybody out there wants to have Google Screen Call feature on their stock phone app.
It's pretty easy to be honest
Since the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro have the google phone apk built in, I had to look at a bunch of info to see how it could work but figured out that it's a lot easier than I thought.
Requirements needed:
-Rooted One Plus 9/ 9Pro
-Termux installed (Play Store)
- Busy Box module installed
-Magisk Hide Props module installed
-PrefEdit installed (Play Store)
1st Step:
Open Termux
Type
su
Click to collapse
Grant root permission
Then Type
props
Click to collapse
If you have enable Device Simulation then skip 2nd step (If not then continue)
2nd Step:
Type in "1" ( to edit device fingerprint)
Type "f" (to pick a certified fingerprint)
After that you are going to choose Google and type the number it corresponds to ( Mine was 7)
It will show you a bunch of phones.
Just find the Pixel 4 XL and type the number it corresponds to ( mine was 23)
In reality I don't think it matters which phone you use just make sure it was a pixel phone that has screen call built in.
It's going to be give you some options of which OS version you want
I chose android 11 just to be sure
Type
2
Click to collapse
Then it will ask you if you want to reboot
Type in "y" to finish the 2nd Step
3rd step:
Open Termux again and redo 1st step
once your on the page it should say "device Fingerprint (active)"
Type
2
Click to collapse
The next page will show you a bunch of options that you can enable.
The ones you need to enable are-
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10
Click to collapse
(DON'T enable "8") I accidentally enabled it and screen call didn't work
once it says it's finished Type in "y"
then it will reboot
4th Step:
Once your phone has booted up
you need to go to settings then apps and clear phone data and cache
then find Google Play services and clear data and cache
After that open the phone app and go to settings to see if screen call feature is there
If it isn't showing up then you'll need to use PrefEdit
Close the phone app (if you haven't already)
Open PrefEdit and find Phone
It should show you like 5 files
Choose dialer
Once there tap on "dialer_phenotype_flags.xml"
then search for "speak"
Find this code line
G_speak_easy_bypass_locale_check
Click to collapse
tap on it and change it from false to true
then tap the save button
Now you're finished!!
Things to note once you go back to the phone app you'll need to be on Wifi to enable the feature.
If you have any questions just let me know and I'll help you out as best I can !
I will post ScreenShots of what to do if you need to see how yours should look like.
Outstanding guide ty!

Going to add to this, if it doesn't show up in your dialer settings, clear the cache from both your Phone app and from Google Play Services, then open the Phone app again, and wait a few minutes if you still don't see it. Once you do, toggle it and see if your basic phone functions are still working. Believe it or not, some people's microphones wouldn't work with this trick in effect.
And now a rant of sorts.
The problem with this process is that in doing such, you are tricking not only the Google Phone application into thinking you're running actual Pixel hardware, but everything else, too. So this opens a whole can of worms when it comes to things like software/OOS updates, kernels, Magisk modules, etc.
For example, Elemental Kernel refused to install on my OP 7T because it was identifying itself as a "Pixel 4a." And even then, while I did get call screening to work, briefly, having to revert the changes to update things, then redo the changes, and hope they stick again.... wasn't worth it for me to do all that. I just wish we could officially get their call screening technology on EVERY Google device. Or at least ones that can use the Google Dialer framework.
So be prepared for a lot of troubleshooting and frustration. You may have to ask yourself if this is worth it.
Ty so much for this. I finally had time to do it. But the weirdest thing happened it never showed the screen option or hold for me option. But like 9 hours later I used my phone and there it was setting up.
Is it possible to enable call recording with this method as well?
according to the link, call recording should be integrated in the dialer starting vom version v63:
OnePlus exploring adding automatic call recording support in India
OnePlus devices don't support automatic call recording, but this may change in future in India, at least according to a staff member.
