Dust under camera lens - ZTE Blade V8 Pro Questions & Answers

I have a huge amount of dust under the glass protecting the camera. I reached out to ZTE and they are sending me a replacement device. My concern is that this will keep happening. Anyone else have this issue?

Android pay definitely does not work on my phone. I can use Capital One to make NFC with no problems though. If I was within the return period, I would return mine also.

Thanks. That's good to hear. I have a replacement coming today and I was concerned I would have the same issue.

I got my replacement device yesterday. Hopefully I won't have this issue again. ZTE customer service was great and got the phone shipped out quick.

I just noticed dust in mine, specifically the lower camera area. If the back of this thing can be removed without breaking anything, it would be pretty easy to get rid of the dust.

how is your replacement phone working I'm thinking about giving it a second try but the other guy below say his v8 pro has dust also sounds like a quality control problem display and cameras should have proper seal from dust.

My replacement had the same issue. Dust started to show after about a week of use. They shipped out a third device, but I decided to sell it and take a loss.

The OnePlus 3T is an awesome device. You will not regret that purchase. Or possibly wait for the OnePlus 5.

I was looking into buying this phone. Has anyone else encountered the issue of dust under the lens? Also if so, where did you purchase it from?

cracked screen DIY solution

hi has anyone tried this?
cracked my screen this morning, grabbed it from my bedside table, it was plugged in to the charger, tugged out of me hand flat on the floor and pow.
so i found these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Desire-Brav...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item439f675cd7
htc digitizers/ screens whatever you would like to call them...
so has anyone tried this? are these reliable? good quality? could be a cheaper solution for the many people who have cracked their screens in this forum.
thanks.
*** (* This is Touch Screen / Touch Pad Only, LCD Display Screen NOT included)
most cracked screens are only the touch screen so buying this is fine, if you ****ed the LCD display your phone most likely got under a car's wheels.
Take out an insurance policy, wait a month, sorted
yeah the lcd is completely fine its the digitizer..
i dont want to wait one month.. i might just get this to try it out.. then take out insurance..
anybody know good insurance company in the uk?

I wouldnt buy anything from EWWT, I have an open paypal claim on them, I ordered a case for a tytnII, very slow to ship, the keyboard was faulty and the case is missing all of the sub assemblies glued inside, looks like they have sold me a non working "dislplay" case, pack of bastards.

[Q] Replacement Screen!

Yo guys, Had a bad day today.... Broke the screen on my phone. Does anyone know where to get replacement screen's from now a day's? Preferably not Ebay as i hate it but If that's the only place i guess i must. Now I have checked ebay but the ammount of Galaxy Nexus S Screen's that are on there it didn't seam like anyone would have any replacement screen's... could be wrong though! Any help appreciated
Kind Regard's James Mackay
You broke the screen already!? What happened?
You not going to tell me that you didn't insure device worth 500quid?

ill admit that this is the first phone ive had that i DID insure !
What happened? ... How is broke?
I was wondering how long it would be before someone killed one. I very much doubt you'll have any luck sourcing a screen for one this soon after it's release, your only choice might be to contact Samsung regarding repair I'm afraid.
Haha, yep I broke the screen. Well I've cracked it any whoo. Still working perfectly fine . I dropped it yesterday when I was walking to work. Landed right on a curb....
Yeah I didn't insure it, never dropped the previous phones I've had, this ones a slippery bugger though.
I didn't think there'd be screens out yet, I'll keep my eyes posted for some. Anyone know any decent sites to check?

There wont be any replacement screens out for quite a while im afraid, maybe 6 months or more as this is such a new phone and all available stock will be going to make the phone itself or held by samsung for repairs. As mentioned before your only option if you want it fixed is to send it back to samsung for repair or claim under your contents insurance if you have accidental cover.
Mark.

do you have accidental damage on your home insurance? might be worth checking if they will cover you that way. All my gadgets are covered this way, whether inside or outside the house.
God know's ha, I'm currently living at my mother's so no idea if she has or not! Ahhh well, as i said i didn't expect there to be any screens. I can still use the phone, and at the moment can't be arsed with the hassil of ringing all these place's to check if they will replace it. Thanks anyway's guys, Got a perspective from it if anything .
Did you pay for it with a credit card? You may be covered for accidental damage eg barclaycard:
Purchase protection
Buy eligible goods worth over £50 with a Visa or MasterCard credit card and they will be protected against accidental damage, loss or theft for the first 90 days, subject to an excess of £50. If any of these occur in that period, you should notify us within 45 days of the incident, and the police within 36 hours. You're covered for:

You might want to look into a warranty like square trade. I was looking at insurance options myself and square trade seems to be the best. They allow you to buy insurance for a phone that is up to 30 days old. It might not be the most ethical thing to do to buy it for an already broken phone but they wouldn't offer that service if it wasn't profitable for them.
The plan is not cheap, and there is a deductible for replacement but it beats having a broken phone for 2 years.

I am shocked . 500 quid phone barely a couple of weeks old and you can't be arsed to get it fixed? I would have literally in tears!
i saw on eBay it has already full housing.
The only parts site I know of is cnn.cn.
It doesn't look like they have anything for this phone right now though.
Well it isn't that bad. I can still use the phone perfectly and only notice the cracks when the screen is off. I can't get hold of a screen and am not dealing with insurance company a cause I feel them to be a majour pain in the arse. No point in getting worked up over something I can't change . I'll buy a screen when I find one online. Thanks for all your options though

I'll be going to china on december 7-8 and 14-16, i'll check it out for you, i'll look on the 7, and let you know, and if the price is ok, you can paypal me and i'll buy it on the dec 14, at present i'm searching for white nexus s battery cover for members in this forum.
dont expect the screen to be cheap, i remember the nexus s screen cost approximate USD 120 when the phone was first released.
I have had my Galaxy Nexus for 5 days, and have also cracked the screen.
Problem is I have no idea how it happened. Phone was fine this morning when I set out for work and put it in my trouser pockets. But when i got to work and went to use it there was a huge crack across the screen, about at the point where the curve starts.
So i thought i would try my luck and see if I could get it replaced under warranty, as i had not dropped it or damaged it in any other way, so felt it was a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately I had no luck. As far a Phones4u (Where ig got it from) are concerned a cracked screen is accidental damage, so i will have to pay to get it repaired.
Then they quoted me a cost of £40-£70 for the repair, with the final cost inside that range depending on the amount of damage they had to fix. Now if the fix comes in under £70 i will be extremely happy. When i broke a Galaxy S screen it was £70 for the part alone, so under £70 for the part and fix looks like a good deal, so i accepted thinking i would get nowhere with my warranty argument.
I am waiting for the catch as currently it sounds too good to be true, as i was expecting something closer to £200. I will let you all know how it goes.
Pics or it didn't happen
telepathically sent with my Galaxy Nexus which is being imprisoned by FedEx
pics
same thing happened to me, dropped from 2 feet onto linoleum.
still very usable, only somewhat annoying. guess i will wait a few months for replacements to appear. in the meantime i am ordering a case. also just want to say i have never dropped and broken a phone in my life before this.

Cracked Back - alternative solutions?

I bought my Moto 360 when it first came out. Since I'm from Canada and bought it in the states, I don't think my warranty applies. (correct me if I'm wrong!)
I got two watches - black and silver. Both have cracks. The silver one is pretty severe that the two cracks are about to meet (not sure what will happen when they meet).
My question is - what do I do?
Do I just live with it? What happens if the two cracks meet? Does the piece of the back fall off? If so can the watch still be worn?
Is there a place that can repair or replace the back?
Can i go to best buy, purchase two new ones, switch them for the broken ones and then return the watches claiming they cracked? I know its 'unethical' or whatever, but will best buy accept my return or will they only offer exchanges?
Thanks for your help! If you have any other suggestions I'm all ears!
Motorola should warranty them as long as you have a US address for them to ship a replacement too. I don't think they will do an advance exchange though as they like to put a hold on a credit card and won't accept anything but a US one. If the cracks meet the back shouldn't fall off as it is stuck on with a lot of double sided tape. I shaved the ears on mine down, no cracks so far and I've had it since BestBuy US started selling them.
I'll call motorola and see if they will cover it under warranty. Thanks!

[Q] Screen/digitizer replacement, recommended seller(s)?

Hi
I'm about to try replace my screen on my OPO. There are just so many sellers, it's hard to choose one.
Either way I need the type A with the keypad light.
Many sellers does not specify wither which type or if it's with or without the keypad lights. And sometimes the picutures of the product does not match.
I'm very intrested of which seller from eBay/Alibaba etc you have bought from and are satiesfied with the product.
I want some recommendations so my buy is somewhat more % to work
Thanks.
I have seen the following suggested: vifocal This includes the screen, digitizer, and frame, so it's an easier job to fix than some other purchases. You will still need a sticker for holding down the battery.
There is also a suggestion at the top of the page that is just the screen and digitizer. It is on Alibaba.

Thanks for answer. The Vifocal one I have seen as well. But there is only 1 reference to it as I can find and the communication/support was not so good either. So it does not feel like a good/safe choice.
The alibaba has only 5 sellings and only 2 reviews and 1 one them says defective so that is not a good/safe choice either
Was hoping that there are confirmed good sellers with working product by XDA people
I have already stripped down my broken phone into pieces and only need a new screen to install.
Buy from vifocal, I bought mine from eBay and it has touchscreen issues. The top half of screen registers 2 touches for on and renders it useless so now I have to purchase another. Alibaba/vifocal I would recommend, no matter where you purchase it will be slow shipping from China just stay away from eBay. Also you can use a or b screen they just have to be threaded through different holes in the frame
Buy it from the links you find in my thread "Replacement parts".

I saw that thread
But, I can't really find anyone who can say that the screen from Alibaba works as it should. The seller only sold 5 of them and only 2 reviews and one of them was defective. Does not seem like a safe bet? Or do you have tried the screen from Alibaba or knows someone who can tell?

Too late answer Bought it 3 weeks ago
I have a new OPO as well, the other will be a spare one if lights not working. Could be a defect and return screen? Not a problem with type A or B screen/connector?
Will try my new screen this week.

type A or B screen won't exist this problem anymore.the main problem is the softkey.hope you good luck
Will the screen really stuck good with only 3M tape?
I have tired the screen and it seems to work and now to go ahead with the real install.
Will only tape work or need some glue of some kind? Thanks.
I replaced my screen with one from eBay. First lcd didn't work but the next did work ok.
I attached the new screen with double sided tape, which I used a lot for sure.
I got some time today to rebuild my borken OPO!
The screen works perfectly! Even the buttons lights up! Not as well as my new phone but still. Screen is really well responsive.

I bought from the AliExpress seller.

Accessories Bellroy Case issues

Has anyone had issues with Bellroy cases? I've had my case for 14 days and the case tore like tissue paper in two spots. Bellroy refuses to replace the case and blames it entirely on normal wear and tear. My phone sits on my desk or a table nearly all day while I'm at home or work. Apparently their "engineers" deemed those "high contact" areas. Anybody having issues with their Bellroy case?
Mine is as good as new. I've had mine since the release.
I too have a blue case ..it has developed a strange patch in the centre and looks weird..can't figure out why ?
That's disgusting. Get PayPal or your Cc company to fight it. It's defective.

Which is why I find it odd they blamed me for accidental damage and saying they're "high contact areas." Mine is mostly on a desk or wireless charger. They seem to believe their quality assurance process is flawless.

My $12 Caseology case I had while waiting for this still looks brand new and was used in the same manner. According to them I mistreated my case in 14 days that blew the 3 year warranty.
Well I'm ditching the Bellroy. Dropped my P6P onto concrete floor. It bounced up and hit the edge perfectly on a forklift. Broke the screen and glass covering the cameras. $500+ to get it repaired and I have to send it to Google to get the repair done since all the authorized repair places don't have the parts. 25+ years and this is the first cellphone screen I've broken.
