[Z00L][KERNEL]Better Battery Backup v2 - Zenfone 2 Laser Android Development

UPDATE: I really no longer have the time to update the custom kernels, I now work 16 hours days, 5-6 days weekly. With travelling time added, I barely have time to sleep.
Battery optimization is about choosing the right rom, tuning cpu governor interactive, disabling Google Play Services (use microG & tune GCM), forcing doze immediately, disabling ads, using black/white screen, app optimization (disable analytics, instant messaging), plus many other things.
Identify the rom, the base (aosp or lineage), can choose to use any of the kernels below if it is based on the same base. A backup of your original rom's kernel is in the rom.zip file, simply extract it and restore if encounter any problems.
I have created a guide here
(Please don't quote the original 1st post when replying, as everything is in progress, not written yet,
Please don't ask for ETAs, I'm only doing this in my limited spare time, thank you)
My kernels are NOT flash-and-forget, please READ through post #1, then CONFIGURE using Kernel Adiutor Mod (see post #2)
[Z00L][KERNEL]Enhancements For Increased Battery Backup v1 the original thread (now locked/closed)
DISCLAIMER
I bear no responsibility towards any malfunction of your device. Use my kernels at your own risk.
BACKUP YOUR PARTITIONS!!!
Before attempting to flash any kernel/rom, backup your critical partitions! It's meaningless to ask for help when disaster strikes. Follow the links below, root is required.
Partition Dump - Complete STEP 1
Partition Backup by wanam (save as both .img & tar.gz, plus the 1st 100MB - see 'spanner tool')
There's no need to backup the System or Data partition.

Hello kofe!
thx for encouragement!
The build was made with the last source i can had before the slim gerrit server crashed. last source were merged on 21-02-2015.
for the future, i will make another build like kantjer did, based on last slim source.
when a official slim weekly will came, you will have the build made with UBER toolchain.
At the start developpement, i wanted to use sabermod, but after some discution with slim builder, i choose UBER Toolchain.
And that release work really fine!
You finally did it , bravo

Mines fine, I do use xposed additions though when I have time I will try without, but of you use xposed anyway, it may be a short term solution - also I highly recommend as it's much better even than old slim hardware key remapping!

[KERNEL][r6.1/r1]Reviver Kernel [7.1/9.0][08 Dec 2018]

Introduction
NOTE:
Hello everyone, this is my first kernel for the Moto G4 Plus. I will try to maintain a stable kernel however bugs might arise since I'm not a super star kernel developer. I hope you enjoy the releases.
Important information
I will not reply to complains that do not include clear steps to reproduce the bug, a logcat, and a console ramoops (if random rebooting) or a dmesg (any other issues). Follow this guide to do this.
Features
Here are the major features of the kernel (feel free to explore Github)
Update to date with the latest Linux upstream version (3.10.108-EOL)
Westwood as the default congestion algorithm with many more to choose from
Several subsystems converted to use power efficient workqueues
Compiled with Google's arm-eabi 4.9 toolchain
Audio control from flar2

Nougat 7.0 Stock :https://sourceforge.net/projects/babyfish-kernel/files/athene/stock_nougat/
Installation:
NOTE: Please make sure that you return to the stock kernel of the ROM before flashing this kernel. The kernel is unified for Moto G4 and the Plus variant so everything should be working fine.
Install the latest adb and fastboot: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html#download
Grab the boot image from the download links above
Method 1:
Using adb and fastboot
Reboot into the bootloader using either restart and hold power button and volume down or adb:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Flash the boot image. Run the following command in the folder with the boot image and ensure fastboot is in your PATH:
Code:
fastboot flash boot <boot_image_name>.img
Reboot and profit!
Method 2: TWRP
Keep the bootimage on your phone's storage and boot to TWRP.
Install > Select Install Image > Choose the image > Boot partition > Reboot

FAQs
1.1 Q Can you help me I have this problem?
1.1 A I will surely try to help if proper bug reporting is done as per the fashion described above.
1.2 Q: Can you add xyz feature?
1.2 A: If you link me the commits or tell me what kernel you had the feature in, I can take a look at them. I will not add any useless governors or features that I don't find practical.
1.3 Q: How do I control the kernel?
1.3 A: I recommend using EX Kernel Manager or Kernel Auditor (Both need root)
1.4 Q: OMFG MY BATTERY SUXXXX PLS FIX!!!
1.4 A: The kernel doesn't drain any battery unless you have overclocked it, I have kept it at stock frequencies and voltages. Use an app like BetterBatteryStats to figure out what app is screwing with your phone.
Thanks to:
The various other developers for their patches (if you want a specific mention, please let me know)

IDK I don't have the time, we already have so many ROMs available. Creating a new ROM will be adding it to the huge list already available, from AOSP to LineageOS to Dirty Unicorns. I would rather work on optimizing what we have. Quality > Quantity.

Can't I get the unofficial build?

Should I have to flash the magisk again after installing kernel?, may be this was the reaseon I got bootloop because boot.img was changed and again installing magisk could help with that.

I don't think so. If magisk is installed/flashed once, then no need of flashing ever again until you freshly install the rom. (AFAIK)

[ROM][Mi5][7.1.2][EAS] JDC Nougat Revived

Hey there,
good news for everyone who is missing the great JDC Nougat!
With smeroni68's authorization I'm offering you the latest version of the ROM, built from source, with some changes to keeping it up to date and maintained.
These changes are:
Latest security bulletins and changes from AOSPKernel upstreams from Linux StableUpdates from Code Aurora Forum (CAF)Some smallish modifications of standard apps or behavior
All credit goes to the JDC team!
(Check attachment for a list of team members).
They are the geniuses behind this awesome ROM and kernel, and I'm only making basic and minor modifications to it.
Besides a huge thanks to each member of the JDC team, thanks to Google, Lineage, Linux, CAF, Github & everyone else involved!
And many thanks also to DennySPB who helped me a lot with all the building stuff!
Have fun and enjoy!

Last and latest Oreo firmware for our Mi 5:
8.11.22
ROM installation
Install latest TWRP
Make backups and store them externally
Wipe dalvik, cache, system, vendor, data
When coming from any android version other than Nougat 7.1.2:
Make external backups of your internal storage content
Format data (type "yes" way)
Reboot to recovery to access the data partition correctly again
Flash adequate firmware
No reboot in between the following and the optional steps
Flash ROM
Optionally:
Flash Gapps for 7.1.x arm64. I recommend OpenGapps Pico with additions (1) OR Stock with gapps-config.txt file (2):
(1) Flash Gapps additions (for example these by @Deltadroid)
(2) Check post_#128
Flash ThemeReady GApps package for Nougat arm64 (I don't)
Flash root (Latest Magisk is working fine for me)
After the first boot
Follow the gapps assistant (in case you installed gapps)
Wait 2 - 5 minutes to let everything settle in
Reboot to system
Kernel installation
You'll only wanna install the kernel separately when there's a kernel-only update later than the last ROM version!
Wipe dalvik and cache
Flash the kernel zip-file
Optionally: Re-flash root (if you were rooted before or now wanna be rooted)

I'm having general problems with the ROM installation or don't know what steps to perform to move from x to y or to restore or undo z. What shall I do, Dr. Phil?

Gcam mod video recording is force closing all the time.
Dr. Dr. Phil said:
This problem is present in Arnova's cam versions > 8, while photo shooting is working fine with the support level override fix above. You could use stock camera for video recording or use Arnova's gcam mod in versions 7.9 till 8.

Proximity sensor lets the screen get black while making a phone call
Dr. Dr. Phil said:
Use the recommended firmware (Oreo 8.11.22).
If that doesn't help, here is a fix that I used once successfully when I had the same problem.
Thanks to Mi5 Arsenal!:
flash zcx twrp
make a backup of your persist partition (let's call that x)
store x externally in case the fix shouldn't work or make anything worse (which I don't believe, but still)
download this zip file and place it where x had been stored (replace x with it)
hit restore in twrp, and select the new backup file you just put in place where x was
reboot to system
You can switch to official twrp afterwards without any problem!

Xposed isn't working or producing issues, what to do?
Dr. Dr. Phil said:
In my experience, xposed is very powerful, but can produce all kinds of weird and untraceable behaviour.
I don't recommend using it if not completely nessecary, and cannot support it.

Just so you could flash back stock kernel separately.
Nothing you need for the ROM installation.
Thanks for this great work! Can I dirty flash it on latest original JDC nougat? And can I flash B-B Kernel or better not to do this?

You should be able to dirty flash, although I think that a clean flash is advisable.
B-B-kernel should be working, but keep in mind that I am gonna keep updating the stock kernel and the B-B one is getting more and more outdated.
Edit:
This info is outdated!
B--B-kernel is even built into the ROM now!

I would suggest Nougat-based firmware, but maybe on Oreo-based everything is working as well - can't say.
You need to try that out (on your own risk).
Thanks very much @Phil_Smith
Finally.. must try this one.. thanks @Phil_Smith
I can't believe this is perfect.
Can you add more status bar customizations?

New Los release 12th APR build has this kernel default, enjoy that.
Sar,
Please add rui support
Very sax kernel sar, noticeable difference in both the SoT and performance as well...???
Can you update it for rui based devices?
Any chance you would be willing to try building a kernel with the Project Halium patches so we can try and test the UBports GSI? Probably a long shot but I'd love to play around with an Android alternative.
Does it support wifi packet injection and HID attack in Kali nethunter???
Help please???????

[KERNEL] [Android 11/12] Dora kernel for OP7 series

Introduction
Dora kernel is a successor of popular nem0 kernel for A10/A11 ROMs.
Dora Kernel is CAF based kernel aiming to provide great stability and performance while maxing out battery life!
Code:
// Your warranty is now void.
//
// I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
// Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this Kernel before flashing it!
// YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Main Features:
- Unified for OOS 11 and Android 11 Custom ROMs (Check with your maintainer if they have R blobs merged in)
- Based and upstreamed to latest CAF tags for the SD855
- Upstreamed to latest Linux-Stable
- Upstreamed to latest F2FS stable
- Compiled with Clang 13 and -O3 speed optimizations flags
- Compiled with Clang Polyhedral Loop Optimizations (Polly)
- Simple LMK driver from kerneltoast
- BBR2 TCP congestion algorithm
- 675 MHz GPU step
- Custom energy-freq scheduling model for maximizing performance and battery life
- Custom frequencies setup (dropping to CAF default minimums during idle)
- S2idle suspend mechanism with patches from Google P4/P5 kernels
- PELT scheduling mechanism
- Many scheduler backports from mainline and/or 4.19 Google kernel
- Zip made using latest AnyKernel3 release, retains root on flash (Stable Magisk 21.4 or higher reccommended)
- Zip flashable through EXKM/FKM/Smartpack/TWRP
- Integrated OTA updates in Franco's Kernel Manager *(link for the json: JSON)
- Many more features I don't remember right now, check source if you're interested or contact me on Telegram!
Bug reports:
- If you want to report a bug, please provide some sort of logs (logcat, dmesg)
Flashing instructions:
- Just flash it through TWRP or EX or Franco's Kernel Manager apps
- No sorts of configs needed, flash and be happy out of the box
-There are 2 versions per release: one with SDCARD_FS disabled (default) and one with it enabled. Motivation behind this is recent updates to AOSP 11 ROMs (Yaap, Derp, etc.) that have disabled the support for it. And even though that builds with SDCARD_FS could still work, it's not recommended.
So, in layman terms, if you are running OOS or any custom ROM that still hasn't followed the path of those custom ROMs, please use the sdcard-fs zip or update through OTA.

In Franko kernel manager you can make a backup of your current kernel. Then flash this, then restore kernel if you want it back.
Of fastbootd flash boot img from yaap, same as you most likely did when you originally installed it if you used that method. (Ps, make sure it's matching your ROM though, so you're not updated to the latest but flashing a boot image from a previous version..)
Currently using your Nemo kernel. I flashed this kernel via Franco's kernel manager but I get kicked back to my recovery..any ideas? Tia your kernels are awesome
This kernel is awesome. With Dora Freq i've the best UI performance with AOSP like LOS/CrDroid , another world compared to OOS. Thanks Dev.

Yes, this is meant for OOS 11 and A11 ROMs that switched to R blobs, as it's stated in the OP. It won't be compatible with the builds you've run Nemo on
Amazing experience out of the box, super thanks !
tested with OP7 on oos 11.0.0.2
super smooth and really impressive battery
I flashed via FKM on YAAP. Everything started good but just few minutes ago, when the screen turned off, it didn't turn on again & auto reboot. I had it 2 times in just a couple of minutes

Yaap has a built in logcat, perhaps check to see if there's any traces of the error. It might help Zlatan if you post that..
I have OOS 11 and and currently using a custom kernel. Should I flash OOS 11 again before your kernel? Thanks in advance.

Nope, just flashing a kernel is enough.
I have tried this version of the kernel and it feels very good! But the memory of my phone is too small, I hope there will be swap space in the future. Does the developer have plans to add zram or zswap in the future?
