[APP] Smart Touch(Button) instead of Nav bar or Pie - Xiaomi Mi MIX Themes, Apps, and Mods

if you are familiar with the Fly Me OS(Meizu's) and its magical Smart Touch feature, you may want to try this one. Quite useful and very similar to original. App link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=smarttouch.uet.edu.smarttouch

Well thanks buddy

You're welcome. That was one of the best feature on my Meizu device which has no navigation nor physical buttons. So i completely disabled my navigation bar and started using this on mix. So far so good. Glad to know that you liked. [emoji106]

Guess what my friend? I have found 2 apps. One is a better version of the quick ball. The other is phenomenal.

I couldn't get the app suggested by OP to work for whatever reason. But the second app you suggested (zone assistive touch) is incredible. Always thought quick ball was too big and not transparent enough, but this gives you options to change both. Also, additional functionality, especially quick switch between 2 recent apps, is a godsend. The only minus compared to quick ball is swipe to edge of screen to hide..But that's a small price to pay imo

Smart touch has gott all the features you mentioned. Transparency, size, extra functions, ability to place it everywhere, hide when keyboard is on(nonsense if you dont use nav bar), also it has got edge applications as a bonus.

So to make this app persistent; you have to give all the permissions in application's settings like Pop-up display etc. Just do these if you still willing to try(Process order might be wrong but do all these):

7.4.6 Épic

I've been using Smart Touch for about 3 weeks and it has made my Mix experience so much better. One-handed usability is possible now and I can permanently hide the nav bar. Also, I love that you can customize it to fit your needs. Thanks OP for bringing this app into the spotlight.

Thanks mate, I tried the app out for about an hour or so. I found it to be quite useful and nifty, unfortunately the app contains too many adverts and I don't really like the idea of having a floating icon in the middle of the screen.
What I like about Pie control is the fact that the triggering method is hidden away from the screen. In my opinion, Pie control is a more intuitive design and offers a smoother user experience.
Nevertheless, thanks for recommending the app. :good:

Adds make me crazy but hey I don't enter into the app much lol. I don't like the persistent floating button on the screen too but it's way better than nav bar for me. I tried pie; using it is kinda harder than that button somehow. Side note i really liked the idea of GMD gestures app which has no button or pie but does the same job for me. Yet, returned to this button again lol. My 2 previous device has had this button natively which i liked it a lot, maybe this is the reason. Anyway, thanks for input. Everyone uses what they like, is the beauty of Android. [emoji38]

It's an app I developed to mimic ALT-TAB behaviour.

Story:
I am a proud Desire Z owner and have to say the Vision is amazing with its keyboard. One thing I still hate about day to day tasks is switching between Google Talk and MSN apps. I hate reaching up to the notification bar from the keyboard.
So I wrote an app to solve this problem. I call it QuickSwitch.
By taking advantage of the quick keys on the keyboard, I wrote an app that basically launches other apps. It's configurable which apps you want favourit-ed and how many running apps to show. I also made it mimic alt-tab function by pressing Quick key 1 and comma. This would switch back and forth between apps very quickly.

Donate
If you like QuickSwitch, You can send me a donation to my Paypal http://bit.ly/quickswitch-donate-paypal or through the Android Market and search for "QuickSwitch (Donate Only)". The donate version does not add any functionality.
Questions / Comments
If you want to provide any comments and/or feedback, please post in this thread. New feature requests can be submitted at http://bit.ly/quickswitch-request.
If you could, please add comments and ratings on Market as it can encourage me to develop better stuff!
Thanks!
nice idea, but if your just using it to switch between gtalk and msn why don't you just install ebuddy and run both together?
its configuable to switch between any app.
i like the ability to make the quick keys function like alt and tab. im downloading it right now, will come back with comments
edit:
i think i misunderstood, can this make the quick keys function as alt or shift? i hate the placement of they keys and i hate the quick keys theyre pointless, i like better the keyboard layout on the merge
is there anyway to assign the quick keys the alt or tab function?
aside from that though, its pretty cool app and its fast too. good job
do you mean using TAB to switch versus comma and period key? I can look into making that possible. did I understand you correctly?
so it kinda mimics what happens when you hold the home key?
yes. there's recent running apps as well as favorite apps. its makes toggling apps a lot easier.
no i meant more like a keyboard remapping. i want the two center quick keys to act as either alt or shift
Very cool app! Thanks!!

Thanks! If you could add a rating / comment in the market, that would be appreciated.
How can I make it better? I am adding icon overlays to indicate which ones are Favourites and which ones are Running. Next, I'm thinking about long press running icons to add them as Favourites.

Done. A well earned 5 *'s
As for making it better, I honestly think it is one of those rare gems that comes out the box 100%, its perfect for what it is used for. I like the clean look it has so I would have to see what overlay you use to judge if it will be good. Long pressing an app to add does sound good however.
You get these kind of apps once in a blue and what ends up happening is the dev always thinks that he/she has to improve it and just adds up making it bloated. I like it as is. Here's a great piece of advice; make a version with what you plan to add and put it up as a donate version, feel out the market, then just tidy the code up for this one and sit on it. You do great work.
This is pro. Fantastic app.
How about one quick key for favorites, another for running...thoughts?

Thanks for your feedback. Your suggestion is a good one. I can certainly split it up into two apps.
I am also thinking about how this can be used for devices with no keyboard. Maybe splitting the screen into two halfs - left selects from favourites and right selects from running. Hmm...
I love your app. Idk if it goes into two rows when u got a lot of shortcuts set but would be nice. Thank you for this wonderful app!

You can already bring up all your running apps by holding home button, to add a second key would be redundant.

Launch Now is a Google Now shortcut replacement app which can be launched in the same way as the Google Now app. By swiping upwards from the home button you can launch the app and it will allow you to launch any app that you like. When launched the app prompts the user with a dialog containing customizable apps which can be launched. A possible use case scenario would be if you use Twitter alot you can put your favourite Twitter app in one of the slots and access it at any time by simply swiping up from the home button or the lockscreen. The app is very fast and fluid and is in active development so more is to come soon. I've attached a free test version with 2 app slots that you guys can try out. Enjoy!
Here's the play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simon.LaunchNow
The youtube video shows the functionality pretty good:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XohEHWGrFHI
Just so you know; you can still access Google Now with this app installed, just add it as one of the launch options.
If you have any questions or requests whatsoever I'll be sure to answer them here

That's correct. Read the rules before posting, OP, specifically rule 11 in this case.
Also, I wouldn't consider this a Google Now replacement, it's more of an app launcher. Google Now does so much more than just launch apps, or provide shortcuts to apps.
Anyway, can't call it a Google Now replacement, maybe a Google Now shortcut replacement. To be considered a Google Now replacement it needs to be some kind of voice search service.
Anyway, cool idea but I don't think I would pay for this app, specially running a custom ROM such as AOKP which allows users to add shortcuts to the navbar ring, so you can have Google Now and any other app you need/want to on that ring.
I'm working on a free version right now so you guys can test the app out. Shortcut replacement is a really good idea, I'll make sure to use it.

Really like this app but are you planning to make the transition from the Launch Now menu to the chosen app smoother? Is it possible to incorporate the transition animation from jb into this? It'd b great to see the selected app come flying in from the top of the screen.
Also, the icon could use some work; it's hard to see it against white backgrounds.

I'll most definitevely try and make a JB animation, I've done it before in my other app so it shouldn't be all that hard. You're right about the icon, I'll make some changes later.

In my opinion, it's missing just the option to add just one app, like Swipe Launcher offers. Other than that it's faster than the other (2) alternatives available.

Not quite the animation I expected but cool nonetheless and also real smooth. It adds some variety into the mix and that's always a good thing.

I tried the icon on a white wallpaper and it didn't look to bad at all. The icon you liked isn't avavible in 512x512 which is a requirement for app icons so I can't use that. I added a arrow to the existing icon and it looked pretty good, it'll be in the next version. For now I'm sticking to the animation, it's pretty cool i think.
Like I wrote in my review on the Store: It's fast
Though I purchased all the other alternatives available, I found this to be the fastest. Thanks for the option to launch just one app. Please don't sacrifice the speed in favor of more options.
Keeping my eye on this...

[REQ-CONCEPT] Gesture NavBar inspired by web os.

Hi guys,thinking about my older hp pre 3 (fantastic smartphone and,supreme OS)

It's like the new PIE by paranoid,but is more intuitive.

I can definitely get this to work if someone is willing to make some graphics. (the white "thing" in the screenshots) I already have something similar working in my ROM so this shouldn't be difficult to achieve. Anyone here good with graphics?

[APP] - [FLOATING APPS] An alternate for multi-tasking

Hello Ladies & Laddies. Since we don't have one of the most killer features called ''Multiwindow'' in MIUI Roms, I was looking for a way to cover that lack, failed. Handed my old Lg G3 and it reminded me it's funky little floating apps, and i've found this app at least to hold my horses against multiwindow hunger. Although it doesn't (completely)work with system apps, fair enough serves an alternative.
Requirements:
A healthy fella who owns a mi mix which runs Miui rom(others already have multiwindow but why not?),
Above entry is quite enough to handle this app.
Install the free version of the >app< grant permissions(App permissions like Storage, Location, Camera etc. etc, Other permissions like Home screen shortcuts, Display pop-up window, Start in background etc etc. )and add it as 'Autostart apps( Settings > Permission') .
After this, the Float icon will show up on your statusbar which is resizable, draggable:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When you touch it, the complete floatable app menu shows up:
Let's say you launch the Calculator; it launches in a shape of love, resizeable as you wish. You can change it's transparency, theme etc.
Bunch of apps that you can launch at the same time:
You can check active floating windows and their status:
Also close them and lots of action through it's menu button on the left and transparency level shortcut:
You can minimize all the active floating windows into an icon which is resizable, draggable bla bla..
So on. The app has lots of features and options but probably you need to pay for >pro version< to have all of them. Better just try free one and consider purchasing then.
Thanks LWİ s.r.o. for this great app.
I almost peed myself to type and finish this article.

When you touch it, the complete floatable app menu shows up:
Let's say you launch the Calculator; it launches in a shape of love, resizeable as you wish. You can change it's transparency, theme etc.
Bunch of apps that you can launch at the same time:
You can check active floating windows and their status:
Also close them and lots of action through it's menu button on the left and transparency level shortcut:
You can minimize all the active floating windows into an icon which is resizable, draggable bla bla..

[emoji38] [emoji38] [emoji38] Hey bro. Yeah I will lol. The status bar is important for me, you know. Since new devices are coming with Nougat -which doesnt support xposed- i guess i will stick with Mix[emoji51] See you on the other side.

Bump. Some asked privately that WhatsApp can't be floated? Well im not a whatsApp user but you can add system/your app widgets by
» Floating app menu » My apps » Add(+) button and 'Create widget app' » select available widgets and see how it looks.

Thanks man, I'll give it a try
does anybody know what type of font OP is using since his account is not active?
Anyone know what Xposed mod he's using to rearrange his status bar icons?

Disable Notch?

Just curious if any of you think they will allow us to black out the status bar next to the notch to make it "go" away. Hopefully this will be an option within the software.
Unbox Therapy review mentioned it's coming via future update:

pretty sure someone will make an app for that sooner or later.
Probably but then you have a device with 2013 sized top and bottom bezels.
The design is a total joke, google should be embarrassed to release this monstrosity in 2018

I agree. It's a joke and the design team should in fact all be fired. Whoever approved this version has no idea how to sell phones. This is why they don't.
Having said that, I still bought the XL [emoji53]

That option to hide notch is already available in developer Settings. There are some screenshot on reddit
So you hide the notch which increases the bezel look. What actual screesize do you end up with...
So yeah, they apparently are going to put the option in but instead of leaving the notification icons there they are just shrinking the entire screen:

Just to show how Google's design team has no clue. [emoji2357]

The developer options method has different options for disabling the notch. Apparently one of the settings allows you to do this: https://i.imgur.com/OKnedgo.jpg and https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/9mwfoh/via_mkbhd_vid_what_pixel_3_xl_looks_like_with/
So my guess is that once it's officially implemented, it'll look like what you see above

The pics in the videos show apps that have a black bar built in, which is why the icons appear in that area, instead of below.

It's already built into P in developer options.
If they made it so you could half hide the notch (like, so the notch is halfway not showing, instead of fully hidden), I think I'd be using that for sure. I think the phone would look WAY better with half that notch. If that's not an option, I really hope some devs will make it so.

It hides the whole notch. But I an hopeful on the options for the devs because access to control the notch is built in to P.

I know that, I'm just saying if they ALSO made it so you could half-hide the notch, that would be awesome. I hope you're right that it being in dev options will open up that possibility.

The developer option is (hopefully) not the full implementation. The developer option just blacks out the notch.
This is the current implementation using the developer options:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is what everyone wants (and how essential handles the notch if you disable it in their settings)
Yea, the concept version is very cool.
What about screen burn-in with notch off?

It's an OLED display. The pixels are turned off, so no chance of burn-in.

Its more like that the rest of the screen would have "burn in" effect and not the notch. But that shouldnt be noticeable because the display does not show static pictures/elements like the status bar (clock, icons, ...).
Why would you risk a problem with screen burnin anymore than any other phone, just because you've hidden a notch?
The feature in developer settings is most likely not done. Because, no, Google aren't "that clueless". People love to hate on everything they can, while ignoring absolutely everything that Google designs which has a brilliant design. Stop cherry picking the things that you hate, and look at the big picture. Google does know design. When this feature is pushed out of developer settings (which is NOT to be viewed as "made available to public; most people don't even know this exists. XDA and Reddit are absolutely not the norm), I would expect the clock and icons to be on top of the hidden notch, not below it.
