LTE/4G not working in SIM slot 1, but is working in SIM slot 2 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
Last weekend i wanted to upgrade from Cyanogenmod 14.1 to LineageOS. First i wanted to dirty flash an "migration build" over my old build, but as soon as i tried to flash LineageOS it gave me an Error 7 (Trustzone error or something like that).
It appeared my firmware was outdated so i flashed OpenBeta 12 (Firmware+Modem) to update the phones firmware and this fixed the Error 7 problem and i was able to flash LineageOS, but it resulted in crashes when trying to boot . So i tried to do a full wipe and somehow it also messed up my recovery (TWRP 3.1.0.0), so i was stuck with a soft bricked phone.
I flashed stock recovery, but wasnt able to sideload stock ROM with ADB. So i just flashed TWRP again and flashed the latest LineageOS nightly and it worked !
I am on LineageOS right now and it is all working fine except that my 4G/LTE isnt working anymore. it is only connecting to HSPAP.
I then tried putting the SIM Card in my mothers phone to check if i could get a 4G signal there and it immediately did, so i am certain its either a problem with my OP3 or with LIneage OS.
Strange thing as well is that i tried putting the SIM in the second slot of my OP3 and somehow it does get 4G/LTE connection when i have it in slot 2.
I already checked if the APN settings. Anyone else having this problem, because i couldnt really find anyone else with a similar problem.
Im afraid my 1st SIM Slot just got broken somehow
Can anyone help me fix this?
Thanks in advance,
Riekelt-Jan Pasterkamp

I had/have some no-brand dual SIM China phone and it treated the SIMs in the same manner. I just replaced the radio or modem files and the problem disappeared.
When my OP3 makes SIM-related problems, an EFS restore or modem reflash usually fixes the issue. You don't have an EFS backup of a working period I imagine?

Not sure what an EFS backup is, but i did make a backup right before i tried to flash LineageOS.
I already tried to reflash OpenBeta 12 (firmware and modem).
Are the modem and radio files in my system folder? And can i just delete them so the system creates new/clean files?
Sorry if im asking all these noob questions, but as far as rooted phones go i only know how to install ROMs and other zip files and thats it

No you've nailed it! US model correct? Chinese models handle the dual Sims differently IIRC.

[Q] Help!! SIM not recognized after updating bootloader

I was trying to install the Quantum Rom on my ATT Samsung Galaxy S3.
It failed a few times until someone posted that I need to update my bootloader to I747UCUEMJB. I was able to install the ROM after the update but now my phone won't recognize the SIM card that's worked flawlessly till I performed the bootloader update.
Is my phone done for good or is there something I can do here? Please help!!
Did you flash a compatible or updated modem?

Sorry not really sure what that means. Also, just went in to my settings and under Baseband version I am seeing Unknown.
I checked the size of the bootloader I downloaded and it's only at 1.1 mbs and I just found the same bootloader online but at 623 mbs. I am assuming the bootloader I installed might be corrupt/fake?
I am downloading the larger file now and am going to try and install that too see if that helps?
There is no way the bootloader would be 623 MB.
Try flashing a modem from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898

Yeah figured as much, especially after looking at the contents of the file, I decided not to use it.
Thanks for the link. Just downloaded modem_CWM_I747UCUEMJB.zip and I have my network signal back up now. I am hoping this means I am good. Will let you know soon. Thanks!!!

Your baseband/modem is indeed corrupt. Before downloading or flashing ROMs please research thoroughly to be sure you know what you are doing and understand the difference between all the different files. The file you saw at 623mb is most likely the system or ROM file itself. The bootloader file itself is a much smaller file - consistent with a 1MB+ download. If you succeed with the file you are trying to download, you most probably would be updating your ROM although I'd be very doubtful if it would work. I'm not too certain but the 623MB file looks like the 4.3 update zip which usually works only when you are doing a manual update from an earlier ROM especially the immediate predecessor 4.1.2.
To correct your modem, I would suggest you try downloading and flashing the 4.3 modem file.
You may also need to install custom recovery (e.g. TWRP or CWM) for an easier installation. I presume warranty is no longer an issue with your phone in view of the firmware history.
Edit;
Just saw the last post from Audit after sending mine. Glad to know all is OK now.

I completely understand what you're saying. Truth is I don't enough about all this to do what I did. Lesson learned for sure!
So. I was able to install the Modern bootloader and have my LTE signal back up and confirmed things are working given someone already called me and the call came through fine.
Now, the last thing I need to figure out is how to get WIFI to work. It's connecting to my router and has gone through authentication and has saved my network on the list of WIFI spots but I can't seem to connect and start downloading apps without eating my data.
Never mind, finally got wifi to work. Thanks again!!
Are you using any sort of encryption on your wifi network (i.e. WPA, WPA2, etc.)? Can it connect if you disable encryption?

SIM no longer recognized as being inserted; IMEI not visible in software

Firstly, my apologies if this issue has been solved before here, but neither a search of the forum nor the automatically found "similar threads" based on the title have revealed such a problem as this.
Last night, I attempted (and eventually succeeded) at reverting my SGH-I747 to the stock 4.1.1 ROM, with the intention of subsequently installing the 4.3 and 4.4 OTAs. However, I was unable to do this because the phone behaved as though no SIM had been inserted, despite the fact that one had. At various points throughout today, I've performed factory resets, re-flashed the 4.1.1 ROM, and gone back to CM11 (under which my cellular connection had been fully functional up until last night), all with no results. My next thought was that the SIM card itself had somehow broken*, so I looked through AT&T's process for ordering a new SIM. However, I am unable to view the phones IMEI (which is required for such ordering) through software. Obviously, I could just pull out the battery and look at the IMEI there, but I worry that the lack of ability to view it in software is indicitave of some sort of problem with the phone.
My main concern is, is this a problem that I can easily solve? Or have I irrevocably screwed up my phone's SIM slot (or some other piece of related hardware) which I need to replace in order to recieve mobile communication?
Any help much appreciated.
*Before anyone asks, I am unable to test the SIM in a different device, as neither I nor anyone I know has a device on AT&T with a micro-SIM slot whose phone I can borrow for that purpose.

You're quite lucky you didn't brick your phone downgrading like that.
You're gonna need nv-reader/write to get your IMEI back.. Look here.

Firstly, thanks for your reply.
Secondly, the procedure to which you linked requires an nv file from another identical phone, to which I don't have access. Do you know of anywhere online where I may be able to get such a file?

Before you try the NV re-write, I would suggest you first check to see your modem hasn't been corrupted. Go to settings and see what is showing under Baseband version. If it reads <Unknown>, then you may be able to fix it by flashing the 4.3 MJB modem. I don't know what procedure you used to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.1 without hard-bricking your phone. It is indeed possible to downgrade the ROM only without downgrading the bootloader. However, the 4.3 bootloader and modem are in a tight and unbreakable marriage so if you downgrade the ROM and modem, you would end up losing your modem and consequently all cellular functioning even if you didn't up in a hard brick.
If your baseband version is indeed showing as unknown, then you can go to the link below to download the modem and flash via custom recovery ....

I downloaded the file and moved it to the sd card in my phone, but the file doesn't appear in TWRP's "Select Zip to install" dialog. Does the file extension need to be changed? or do I need to flash some other recovery?

You said you moved it to your sd card? You might have to change TWRP's mounting to it.

I should clarify. I downloaded the file using my laptop, then connected the phone to the laptop, and moved the file to the root of the external SD. Using a file explorer app on the phone, I can see the file in that location, as well as several flashable ZIPs which I've put there in the past. However, when using TWRP to select a file to flash, I can navigate to the root of the external SD and see (and flash, if I wanted to) the other files, but not the .bin, presumably (though it's possible - or likely - that I'm wrong here) because TWRP expects all flashable files to be .ZIPs, and so doesn't display files that don't end in .zip. So, the question is, in order to flash this file, do I need to change the extension to .zip? or flash a different custom recovery? or use some other method for flashing altogether?

I'm not so sure what file you downloaded but it should be a zip. In order to flash, you need a zip with META-INF folder in it (to put it simply).
Here's what you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898 (The MJB one).

The file should be a zip. Just checked the link I sent you and I'm just seeing it's a*.bin file. You could try the one from the link forwarded by BWolf although this appears to be for CWM.
After this, you may also want to see if you won't be better off going to full stock 4.3. I'm not sure the hybrid firmware (4.1.1 ROM with 4.3 Bootloader/Modem) offers any real benefits.

I managed to break my XT1676 also, couldn't find the NPPS25.137-15-11 image either.
I ended up flashing NPP25.137-33 using RSDLite but modifying the flashing script to not flash the partition layout or the bootloader as they are older versions and got it back up and running. If you had that image on the phone previously and you have an unlocked bootloader you can do the same.
Let me know if you need more instructions.
Cheers.
Thank you for replying, raiamino.
I'd like to ask if is there any other option especially for phones with locked bootloader? I'd like to reflash my phone because it became unbelievably slow and laggy after some time. Factory reset didn't help much.
I flashed a lot of phones in the past (for example Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, Lenovo S60...) but this phone really surprises me about flashing. I found a lot of custom ROMs here on xda and I was thinking about flashing some also, but I'm a little bit scared of it - I don't know, which one is compatible and which isn't (nowhere is written if is custom ROM built for 2/16, 3/16, SingleSIM, DualSIM... variant). I need Moto Gestures feature (really useful thing for me) also, but don't know, if any custom ROM supports it. Do you know about any which will not cause brick (or hard brick) if I will flash it? Thx in advance.
Btw, sorry for bad English, but it's not my native language. Greetings from little big country - Slovakia.

you can do the following - warning it will erase everything on internal storage including photos music downloads documents etc - backup to sd card or laptop first if you want to keep these things
put phone into fastboot mode and connect to laptop
In a terminal/command prompt window assuming you have fastboot installed type the following
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
When you restart your phone it will be like the first time you switched it on (albeit with upgraded firmware version)
LineageOS supports moto gestures - For me they all work except shake to open camera app but you can set it to open with a double press of the power button
Flashing a custom rom designed for your phone will not hard brick it as it will never touch the bootloader so you will always be able to enter fastboot mode
Of course you can soft brick which means it either bootloops or you cant access recovery if you don't follow the correct process but you can solve that just by repeating the process correctly
All right, I will give it a try at evening (not enough time right now). So If I will do the fastboot command...
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
...what will happen? Is it the same procedure as factory reset + wipe cache?

yes but it also wipes everything on internal storage data partition
A reset + wipe cache will format data but not user data (things that are stored on internal storage such as pictures music documents downloads)
It does not format system or anything else
Thank you, it helped a lot! :highfive:
EDIT: what's difference between erase and format in fastboot? Would something bad happen if i do format command instead of erase?

Iv no idea - it will either give an error unknown command or do something
erase userdata is the correct use
Hello,
I have the same phone and like to download the stock rom first before flashing a custom one (RR e.g.). I can't find anywhere a download for this version's custom rom yet. Is there any way to save the stock rom out of the still unmodified phone?

Bro.. check this.. npps is for xt 1676 ( Europe, Turkey ) and npp is for xt 1677 ( India) . Both are dual sim 3gb version phones.. just may be customization difference. Hopefully all modem bands may work.
Npps or xt 1676 unfortunately dont have version above 25.137-15 ( which is an older firmware from what u have ) , so never flash it.
But npp have higher version 72/76/82.
Just in case u are not confident enough avoid gpt, and bootloader flashing.
Btw.. if you have messed up ur bootloader ( cant boot into fastboot) .. i think give these files a try.. btw.. you have nothing to loose since u have messed up pretty bad with bootloader.
This is the only last try till Oreo upadate ( if moto ever release it for g5)
Btw.. if u get successful.. please share.

And if u are worried about modem ( which may cause wifi /signal issue) avoid flashing modem or try flashing old modem from npps25.137-15 ( the file is available in same directory) you can use the modem file only for flashing )
I mean.. first flash the complete npp25.137-76 ( i choose that file because its non branded ) .. after successful boot, check wifi and sim.
If everything is ok.. use the same..
If you have problems with wifi or sim..
Use modem file from npps 25.137-15 and flash modem partion only.
Or completely avoid all trial and error methods. And just flash npp25-137-76 with out flashing modem , bootloader, gpt, - its just like flashing a new kernel and system.. everything except system and kernel will remanin the same.
The method works only if u have a working bootloader. If its not there.. there is no way to trial and error things.. till u courageously flash the bootloader and gpt from npp version..
Hope you will get something.

Currently.. my xt1676 is working with August security update ( npps - 25.137-72-4 ) rooted, unlocked.. i am trying hard to mess it up.. unfortunately twrp backup helps me to unbrick few times!! But soon or later i will manage to mess it up!!!???
Only then i will give these files a try... ( Or atlest till pixel 2 comes to retailer near by) . For now this is my backup phone after selling s7 edge.
This is just 2 weeks old.. and i manage to mess its os 5-6 times till now.. so i think i will be joining your club soon

Hi. Sorry for bumping an old thread but I thought it was better then to make a new one.
I bought this phone a few days ago and it had NPPS25.137-72-4 when delivered. Been trying to read up a bit on this device but since I'm used to samsung, it all takes a while to figure things out
Got it unlocked/rooted fine, but I want to make sure I have something to fall back on in case of trouble.
I've been searching for this fw without any luck. Any chance some one got it and can share it?
NPPS25.137-72-4
Or if anyone can suggest a different one that could work. ( I don't really understand the fw names yet)
Thanks in advance.

There's no flash able zips of stock ROMs here unfortunately. Weird for me too since I was Samsung through and through. Take a back up of your own ROM via TWRP or you can use the debloated stock ROM by Fedray on the ROM forum.

Thanks for your answers.Thats actualy first thing I did after flashing twrp to have a clean backup of system and boot.
I also made a few partition backups in terminal, like persist, oem, modem and a few others so hopefully I'm fine.
Do you guys know if I can take stock recovery from lower version fw in case I would ever need it again?
I highly doubt I ever will, but just in case
Edit: If anyone needs a system/boot backup of this fw, just let me know and I'll upload it.

Yes please. If you could do that, that would be great
I'll zip the backup and upload it in a few hours when I get to my computer.

Ok, here we go. Stock TWRP backup from XT1676.
NPPS25.137-72-4
CEDRIC_XT1676-NPPS25.137-72-4_TWRP.zip
Unzip, put in your twrp backup folder and restore.

I got this too..

Baseband problem - can't make a voicecall anymore. Is there radio-firmware image for?

I suddenly got a problem with voice call baseband.
It had been changed and I cannot send/receive any voicecall anymore..
I expected that the radio baseband has been corrupted or changed with some reasons.
So, I want to try re-flash radio firmware for my oneplus 5T. Is there files I can download ?
Unfortunately, I cannot find it except for Oneplus 5 firmwares..

I already did it.. ...
I've downloaded full stock OOS rom from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/official-oxygenos-4-7-2-7-1-1-ota-t3709265. Unfortunately, flashing full stock rom couldn't solve the problem..
Problem solved(just in temporarily) with 'Network Signal Guru' Application..
The reason why I can't make a voicecall is that baseband limit had been erased with some reasons.
To be specific, when I make a call, it should have been using 'WCDMA 2100 band' or LTE B3, but it used other bands instead..
I don't know how to fix(or lock) useless bands from my Oneplus 5T, but I am trying to figure out how to do it.
Until then, I will use my phone by locking bands with 'Network Signal Guru' App temporarily.
I guess you could try flashing different versions of OOS and open beta versions if one would fix the problem.
Unfortunately, I tried to flash different versions of OOS.. but it didn't work. ..
I think I should wait for someone to upload their fastboot-flashable radio images for restoring EFS partition or firmware drivers. :/

Search EduSession techno on YouTube. I think that channel posted the solution for this issue. You don't have to reflash anything.
I also tried the method he is talking on Youtube. - Backup EFS and do 'fastboot erase modemst{1,2}' - but nothing happened.
I am figuring out how to set the baseband by using qualcomm qpst.

By default it will erase all data, but there may be a way to modify the installer.
You'd have to Google that trick though. I don't know it.
I would assume you can flash the other ROM just fine but you might have to change the modem?
That is what I had to do when I flashed Euro ROM on my USA T-Mobile phone.
Other than modem, everything else worked fine.

First thing to learn when in a "development" world, make always backups. No matter what tutorials you follow, no matter what modifications you do, there is NEVER a guarantee it will all go smoothly, hence why you should be ready to backup your files before trying anything.

If your signal works fine, then don't worry about it.
If you can't access any cellular, then change to a modem that fits your region.
