HTC Sense Companion - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have attached screenshot of HTC Sense Companion, can any one tell me why do I get this message?

It's "normal". I have the same since 4 or 5 days

Had the same for 6 days now and no message or anything from the companion. Deinstalled the companion because of no use for me. Read that it shows the same info, that the Google Assistant shows. So why I should use the HTC?

It Seems, HTC Companion is still not live for HTC 10, HTC Should at least make HTC Companion compatible for HTC 10, the main benefit of HTC Companion is, we can get all possible information from one App, like how many steps we walked, music and many other AI related support , as HTC Companion is specifically designed for individual users, so that's what makes it more Unique in a way and wanting to use it. Let's hope HTC makes HTC Companion compatible and live for HTC 10.

Next Firmware update

Am wondering how long we will have to wait before seeing the next software update for HTC Desire? Right round the back of Froyo?...
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
I believe there's currently no news on this one, only guesses and rumors.
HTC have said the next update will support DivX:
http://androidcommunity.com/htc-desire-getting-divx-support-after-update-20100304/
And there is also this:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news5725.html
I'm on T-Mobile and going to Settings --> About Phone --> System Software Updates and clicking "Check Now, finds nothing. I think it's because the update was only needed on some Mobile Branded versions.
HTC also said that windows mobile 7 would be a free upgrade for the HD2.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
We're talking about the Desire not HD2 .
That's the problem, were also talking about HTC!
DIVX support you can get via 3rd party, its the other fixes we need not the extra features.

The only app that supports DivX is XyFlash and the HTC Video Player is simply better. I'd like it included but agreed some of the other bugs/problems need fixing first.
I've sent HTC countless emails about the DivX and 720P update around the internet and all i've managed to get them to say is that it's just a rumour. They did not make any official announcements.
That's a pity. I'm sure 720p was even mentioned in the "original" HTC press release.
The Desire especially really needs to support DivX/Xvid. It's a Media Phone! HTC actually need to work on a Video Player. The Music Player is good but Video is lacking.

[APP] Watchify for SmartWatch 2

Just released my first SmartWatch 2 extension. Watchify let's you push all your notifications from your phone to your watch. Just check it out and let me know what you think - suggestions for improvement and bug reports are welcome!

Thanks! Since my stock Gmail extension does not work on my 4.3 phone I will test this just on Gmail notifications. It will be interesting to see how well it works versus my current approach of gmail to k9 to k9 extension.

Thanks! Great application!
One question... in whatsapp notifications, can I activate only message notifications and disable group notifications?
Good app. I like the possibility to delete the notification from smartwatch. I noticed that this app use a Lot of ram than other smartwatch notification app. Can you Fix it?

Great to have more variety! I'm currently using 'Augmented Smartwatch Pro' and 'Watchit' but both have things I don't like so I'm happy to see another rival
I'd like to see Extended notifications for more apps, especially for 'Notify My Android' since this is one of my main uses for the SW2. Currently WatchIt and Watchify trim the text from 'Notify My Android' notifications.
I'll be happy to pay a reasonable price for this app if it turns out to be the best of the three!
regards
Gmail extended notification is not working for Note 2 with android 4.3... No notification was pushed to SW2.

If whatsapp emoticon can be displayed on SW2 instead of '???', then it's perfect! :good:
it seem nice but google telling me it's not compatible with my phone ;(
and can't downloading with apk-downloader either.
is it possibly to download it with out using of the play store?
nice app, for this to replace the stock notifications apps i would need at least whatsapp, facebook, gmail and twitte
but both facebook and twitter would require a filter so i can select what people i get updates/messages from

Doesn't seem to work on Note 3 either, although I didn't give it longer than about a minute to arrive as I only needed to know if it was slower than the normal gmail notifier. If it was as quick I would have given it a chance for the ability to dismiss things from the watch.
After installing this addon I suddenly realised that the ONLY notifications I ever use are SMS and GMail, so its not essential for me right now. I will keep an eye on it though as no doubt my expectation will change as I get used to having the watch.
Incidentally, how hard is it to write extensions, bearing in mind I know nothing about Android programming at this point?

There is a problem with multiple whatsapp messages. If i receive 2 whatsapp messages in the same time i Can See only the first.
Another question. Possibility to add the possibility to reply?

HTC Zoe Clip not possible to save local...

Hello,
sorry about my bad English, last shool lesson is a long time ago
Since about 4 weeks i can't longer save my HTC Zoe Clips on the phone.
Everytime i press the button "Finish" a new Windows open to Upload my Clip on HTC Zoe.
I deinstalled the App but then it would like everytime to send me to the playstore to reinstall it.
I had today contact with the HTC support and they say me!!! It's not a problem from HTC directly it's a problem with my Provider!!! :silly::laugh:
They say the Provider could erase this Function to save the clip local *LOL!!!*
I have three friends with two HTC One M8 and one with an M7 and all with the M8 have the same Problem with different Providers one of them with a free HTC M8.
Only the one with the M7 has no problem and his Zoe is like ever :crying:
I think that is ****! that is cheating!
Uninstall the new version. I am still using the old version; it works great.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Mhhh if i uninstall Zoe it only would like to install the newest Version from the Store...
Where can i get the "older" Version?
When you uninstall HTC gallery; you should get a message something like this app will revert back to an old version.
My HTC gallery version is 8.50.814092. Install this version and make sure to disable playstore auto update apps. Change the settings to do not auto update my apps.

HTC app on sense 8...where are they?

Hi there!
As far as U have seen, HTC 10 is a hyge hardware device but it comes with only standard Google apps pre-installed. So HTC Sense interface is basically disappeared from the phone.
Considering how much better HTC apps are compared to Google standard apps, it's a huge shame having such a great phone on hardware level running on standard google base system. People have always had hate for custom interface but they don't know what are they saying if they consider everything as a third-party apps, the evil. There are 2 different situations, one thing is customisation of network operator which install useless and buggy application, another thing is manufacturer applications, which in the case of HTC, have always been better than the standard Google applications since the beginning of android. So having no HTC apps on the sense 8 is a great loss. My question is: it will still possible to install all HTC apps on the play store of sense interface on the new sense 8?
By the way I have an HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera and I'm currenlty on sense 7 and android 5, well if sense 8 will be with google standard apps only, I hope that the update to Android 6.0 for my device will keep sense 7.0 interface. I want to use HTC apps.
I think this is a welcomed change. Simpler, faster updates, faster phone... But I do think I saw somewhere that you could install the applications from the play store. Worst case just port them over, there are so many mods that allows you to port to other phones I bet it would be easy to move it over to the 10.

I think that if you go looking to the quality of HTC apps compared to standard google apps, there is no match. If someone want a standard and free Android interface, then buy a nexus phone which is excellent. If I buy an HTC, I want a customized Android experience, at least this is my opinion. Having to struggle with MOD it's second hand option and also if HTC won't develop its apps in the future it would be impossible to do.

That's your opinion, I see very little to no difference. If this is a deal breaker for you, protest... and buy from LG or samsung. I find the google versions are more than adequate for all I need. I love that more manufacturers are going to this style, faster updates and a more streamline approach. They can add their best features to the device and keep it fast. Give it time before you protest them, you may like the change. If not you have 14 days
Well, on HTC One M8 running HTC 10 ported ROM I could easily download all the missing HTC apps from the Play Store. So, no actual difference from Sense 7 roms.
Maybe on the real HTC 10 your experience will be different.
you know if you have the apks of the older apps you can still install them right?

I suppose that it depends...if the apps has been ported to the current version of Android... and this is something that HTC have to do.

Yes it's my opinin but I still think that if you want standard google interface you can buy a Nexus or maybe HTC can realese the Google edition phone like it did in the past.
By the way I have recently swtich from an HTC One S with sense 4 to an HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera and sense 7 (also blinkfeed is nice) but I do miss some widgets from HTC (like gallery widget, bookmark widget and colored meteo widget).

It was a business decision and sadly if you hate it then you'll have to keep you M9 or buy something else. Some of us are excited about it and who knows you may grow to love it. Or maybe they will regret it and put it back in an update.
As far as some reviews said it will still be possible to download all HTC Apps from PlayStore and thus install them on the new HTC 10. In fact it is wrong that they are better than the respective Google Apps, as they are just GUI modded Google Apps.
Only App I wouldn't download is HTC Gallery App, as I read that it interferes with the new HTC Camera App, as the later one has been optimized to work with Google Pictures App.

I don't understand people sometimes. This information has been a talking point of almost every general review of the new phone. It took OP longer to ask here and wait for an answer then to just Google it! Save yourself some time and Google it first.

Google Photos, in my opinion, is only good for photo editing. A standalone gallery is sorely missing from Android. Hell, I still use a pre-CM owned version of QuickPic instead of Google Photos.

Downloads from Facebook on 5X but not others ?

Hi, so this is a bit of an indirect question but coming here as an ex 5x owner. So on android 7.1 onwards, I think, in facebook web, not the app. if there was a video posted on the page in chrome, I could long press on the video and get the download option. I would then be able to download the video. I now have a htc u11 life running 8.0 android one, very stock. I cant download the videos on the facebook web page in chrome as i dont get the download option. Any ideas ? surely this cant be a nexus only option ? I may be missing something ?
Many thanks.
