Moto G5 plus led light - Moto G5 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

I came across a hidden feature i.e mono colored white led notification light. It is situated inside extreme right side of speaker grill. Unfortunately the manufacturer(lenovo) has locked this feature and we cannot use this features unless we have a root access on our device.

No not yet since its official twrp has not been released. I noticed the led light when I switched off my phone and plugged in the charger. The led lit up for fraction of second but it was enough to ensure the presence of notification light.

or just download Moto Led Enabler and save some time instead of watching the video above which tells you that
(MUST HAVE ROOT TO WORK)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.com.itsmeton.motoledenabler

Found another alternate method in some other post, below are the instruction..(only works on rooted devices)
you can use the Light Flow Legacy app to control the led. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...owlegacy&hl=en)
Once you've installed it, you must give notification access.
Go to menu > settings > Device Settings and Root > check "root mode" and "run every command as root".
Then go to menu > settings > LED control > Additional LEDs found > check "charging control"
Now, go to menu > notification settings > click the 3-dot menu on any of the items in the list > settings
In the next screen, swipe right to find a tab called Light. Find charging LED and click on it. You'll have an option of turning it "solid".
You also have an option to set its brightness, but that setting didn't change the led's brightness.
On the top right corner, you have an option called "Test". Click on that and switch off your display.
You should see the charging led light up(can also use led notification for missedCalls,messages,whatsapp..........)
I have tried and its working..

You must specify in bold letters that it works on rooted phone.

Any chance you were able to confirm that the LED light is indeed mono-colored, rather than RGB?

Its good you edited and added that "it works only on rooted device".
I had read it carefully i.e, I asked you to specify it. Always learn to accept your mistake.

Brother first we have to learn our mistakes.
when we do not understand thing. Better not to point at others..
in the instruction
"Go to menu > settings > Device Settings and Root > check "root mode" and "run every command as root"."
What does that mean? hahahhah
Anyway i update the post so that noobs dont ask for it repeatedly.

[APP] ElDiskMonitor v0.1 HDD Monitor using camera activity indicator + System Tray

Since I've bought Asus T100 one of the most annoying things for me was no hdd activity monitor...
So I've decided to code one for myself... And to share with you guys as I've already did before with my other pet projects (see ElWpAudioBooks).
This small app sits in tray and simulates hdd indicator... And if you right click icon in the system tray -> settings you can enable camera led to blink as an HDD indicator... It should theoretically work with any camera with activity indicator, so not only with ASUS T100...
It's just the POC version - no settings, no autorun, just ACTION - but still it works for me...
So tell me what you think and do you need it at all, or I'm the only pervert here who likes to see hdd blinking

Strange, you should see a settings window... With some info and a check box to turn on the led... Try to double click icon in tray... I'll check it out..
It should not drain battery - I'm not reading image from camera, no load to CPU or GPU is made...

Double clicking opened the box, but selecting settings does not.
After enabling it brings up the video source selection window repeatedly to choose between the front and rear camera. it doesnt seem to save what I select. The LED worked for a second, but now doesnt after the selection window came up.

Yes, the dialog shows again after a few seconds. After a reboot, the LED again works for a second, then i get the popup.
Any update to the app
It camera indicator does not seem to work with this app on my T100 64 gig. The weird thing is that when the box is checked to the camera light a dialog box of some sort flashes periodically on the screen but I can read it because it goes away so fast.

Works good on my Dell Venue Pro 8, would love to use this all the time, the cammera light works, but is a little buggy. I keep the little box on my task bar pinned. Thanks for this program, i also like to see that light blinking so I know its doing something.

How can I disable the backlight on the capacitive buttons?

I've looked around and haven't found a decent solution. gravity box has the option to turn them off but doesn't work, maybe it's my ROM?
In stock ROM, under Settings > Display > Touch key light duration > Always off.
If you're using custom rom, maybe they took that out?

Liteflow & Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4

The Tab Pro 8.4 doesn't appear to have any Notification LEDs. Liteflow has a number of other leds mentioned under "Additional LEDs found". However, I can't get any of them to work. It would be really useful if I can get the leds to work for notifications.
I'm running stock Touchwiz 4.4.2 with root. Enabling Root and Samsung mode in Liteflow didn't work.
The tablets don't offer LED notifications, The only LED is the camera flash on the back, and it only works as a camera flash or flashlight.

It didn't work. Here is the following LEDs that are available when "Samsung Root Mode" is enabled. I have Root. I'm now running CM11 Mondrianwifi LTE unnofficial but it hasn't made a difference in getting them to work. I really want to get them working because I currently don't have any notification lights and using the camera flash as a notification light is insane and blinding. Values 1, 128 and 255 do nothing.
1. led:flash_0
2. led:flash_1
3. led:flash_torch
4. wled:backlight
5. lcd-backlight
6. mmc0::
7. mmc1::
8. sec_touchkey
There is an option in accessibility for flash notification
Edit- nevermind, i see thats not what you want

Light Manager does not work on my P8lite

Hi there.
I'm trying to customize the LED notifications on my Huawei P8 lite.
I've installed "Light Manager" but it does not seem to affect the colors of the LED notifications.
I tried to set Normal, Alternating and Screen mode as the Operating mode with no effect.
I also gave the access to Light Manager in the Notification Manager in the Settings.
Do you know it the app is buggy on this model? Do I need root privileges? Is "Light flow" known to work instead?
Thanks a lot,
Howard
Could you ask to the developer here on xda?

It is working for me, but i cannot choose the colors by hex value, I can only use the preset ones.
What firmware are you on?
I have installed Led blinker from Play Store
It's working but not all colors are supported.

App for notification light?

So, i'm coming from a 6 and not having a notification LED sucks. Do you guys use any app for simulating a LED? If there was a way to put a tiny green blinking circle in the bottom, that would be awsome.
Thanks in advance.

I got my 7T yesterday was wondering the same thing, given that it's been a cornerstone of most every phone I've owned. So I did some searching around and found this, which seems to be working great, and is developed by an XDA member.

There is a thread about it here:

Looks great so far!
Although "Notify Buddy" is a very nice app and works on Oneplus 7T i found out that it has a quiet high battery consumption. There are two other apps, that worked fine for OP 6T:
"Plus Beat"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vaf.vishal.plusbeat
"Pixel Pulse"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compass.pixelpulse
They both need a workaround to be usefull on OP 7T:
- notification change to "important"
- enable popup on lockscreen
- disable "stealth mode" in app
Under this circumstandes they work fine!
Have fun with your new Oneplus!

Yup, unsinstalled notify buddy precisely for that, wasting too much battery.

I dont know another way. battery life is okay with plus beat, burn in depends on the frequency and time...
have a nice day!
Plus beat is much more battery friendly than nottify buddy.
There is no way to sey PB notifications to important, at least i don't see it. Android 10 on 7t here. But ir's working good with stealth mode disabled.
Not quite the same.. But I use an app called Glimpse, works perfectly for me, it lights the screen up when a notification comes In, I set mine to light the screen up for 30 seconds, gives me chance to read it unlike the oneplus light up screen setting which lasts for 8 seconds.
you can select apps for notifications.
you can set screen on time and you can set it to repeat alert until checked based on a time setting...
The app is light on background battery usage.
The app is also well supported on the Xda forums...
Couple of tips, turn off the built in oneplus light up screen setting or Glimpse will not work correctly.
Also consider turning off optimisation in the battery settings and locking the app, so that android does not close it down in the background.
The app is free and ad free from the Google store.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-glimpse-notifications-t3090575/amp/
I also use a xiaomi Mi band 4 with my oneplus 7t, I set my phone to silent, use the mii band app to send the watch notifications, via vibration from my selected apps, sooooo much better than the phone beeping loudly, it disturbs nobody, more zen like... Plus the Mi band 4 is low cost, very long battery life, Amoled screen, works wonderfully...
Plus the notification message can be partially seen on the Mi band.
Looks interesting. For now, plus beat does the job, but i would like for it to stop showing notifications after you see them in the status bar.
