New Android update - T-Mobile LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

When i woke up this morning i saw the notification. It's 139mb. Did not see a update note on T-mobile yet. It is installing now.
Edit: Finished installing and it is H83020D, Looks like March security updates.

I received it too. Although, I'm not sure if I should update, since I'm rooted with twrp.

Uh.... Maybe? lol. It's just the stock update.zip that came from tmobile.
It would probably have to be flashed over H83020C

I received this update, and then two days later, on the 26th, I received another update.
My LG G5 is at H83020f
Anyone seen any info on this update? Seems T Mobile missed the change-log on these two recent updates...or the G6 is the priority now.

I'm wondering if they bumped the rollback version or not. (I did not take this update yet)

Can someone on H83020D and/or on H83020F do the following?
Code:
To check what antiroll-back version you are on, input this sequence in the dialer (T-Mobile and ATT) and scroll down:
*#*#244773825625#*#*
As most of you probably know, H83020C is ARB-1.
And ofc, nothing on t-mo's site-
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-30673

ARB still 1

Edit: If I had to wager a guess, this update includes the new Scam Caller feature they were talking about earlier this week which goes live on April 5th.

Marshmallow is due to come out this month.
Just took a look over at the sprint s6 edge forum, it looks like in fact marshmallow is here for them.
I was looking everywhere for a release date for marshmallow for our phones. Didn't see anything: ( Even tried changing the date on my phone to see if it would prompt it lol nope. Regular edge has it hopefully we will soon

No, different bootloader but if someone can get me a copy of the marshmallow boot.img for the g928p, ill take a crack at it. I haven't received an update yet to extract it.

Im trying to learn more too. If all of us newbies here learn more we can maybe come up with some of our own cool stuff for MM once it comes out. I love my phone but it would be so much nicer if we had alot of things to flash and play around with.

So when I make a backup with TWRP I get 2 boot files, boot.emmc.win and boot.emmc.win.md5. Once the update for MM comes out would either of those help or am I looking in the wrong direction? Is there a place that could point me in the right direction?

Never had any problem with Audio.
There are some fixes, a only security update is 30~50MB, and this was 130~150MB.
The only thing that I see different is that now appear an icon of a phone with a 4G if VoLTE is available. That's new on RETLA software channel.
Got the update in India as well retain channel. Update size was 159.2mb

I noticed the bootloader.img, gpt.bin in the full image are different to NPN25.137-83's. So be warned that manually flashing this rom might be a one way street. If you are not on retla or retin, I would avoid flashing it until reteu & retus folks confirm they got the same version as an OTA.
I made the mistake of flashing NPN25.137-67 which never ota'ed to retus and now I can't downgrade my bootloader, or upgrade it to the version in NPN25.137-83 (without unlocking my bootloader, which I don't want to do). Hoping -92 otas to retus, then I can upgrade the bootloader again and rely on OTAs until my warranty expires and I can unlock..

I didn't get the update. It could be because I am now in a roaming network. Is there any way to fake the phone, so that phone could not detected roaming network?

ATT security update 2019???

My phone is now at security patch in November 2018. Of course it was a full flash. And now it always shows error when checking update. The newest update is January 2019. Has anyone got the newest update.zip for ATT?
Or has the full firmware been released yet?
Thanks guys!!!!!
I'm on T-Mobile / Metro prepaid and I just received the January security update yesterday. It's been a while since I've been on AT&T, but back then they were almost as slow as Verizon.

You're using an AT&T Moto Z2 Force on T-Mobile/Metro prepaid, and got the January 1 update over the air?
Edit: Anyone got the January 2019 update via Lenovo Moto Smart Assist? I used it to update my AT&T Z2 Force from Nougat to Oreo and get the Nov 2018 update. I've been trying LMSA since last month and the Jan 2019 update doesn't appear. I'm using the phone unlocked on T-Mobile, so I won't get the update OTA.

It seems to be common error. The Sprint i used before is too.
Today my Moto Z2 Force got the OTA January 2019 update. My phone is stock, unlocked, and on T-Mobile. My phone was on airplane mode, but WIFI was on (see status bar icons in screenshot). So the T-Mobile sim card inside didn't matter. I didn't do anything to initiate the update. It just showed up on it's own.

I got the update through lmsa, but I haven't installed it. It says that it will wipe my sms, call records, contacts and other data?!?! Since when does an update do this? Can anyone who's done this confirm if this really does wipe stuff?
Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
When updating via OTA, there's no command to wipe the system. But when update using full fw, of course the phone will be wiped then

But in the smart assistant there's a separate option for a phone reset versus an update and this is considered an update because it says current version phone, newest version and it has a button that says upgrade. So you would think an upgrade would not do that wipe. And I upgraded from 7.x to 8.x with the smart assistant and it didn't wipe anything or even have that comment.

I havent used lmsa before, so I dont have any experience about how it works. I'll try it in next several days.

General F936U1 Firmware Now Available

For those looking to flash their devices immediately, U1 firmware is now available via Frija and other such tools that pull from Sammy's servers. Manual Entry is required, XAA sales code.
PDA: F936U1UEU1AVGA
CSC: F936U1OYM1AVGC
Phone: F936U1UEU1AVGA
Standard MO for Samsung is to remove the Manual Entry requirement once the official launch date hits. Once that date comes, you should be able to pull it via Automatic.
I do not own this device nor will I ever so I haven't actually tried flashing. But it should work with latest Patched Odin 3.14.x
Happy flashing!
Well, now I know I can get it. Thanks

There was an update that came out a day or so ago, ending in "VHH". I can only see it for TMK and TMB. I have it installed now no issues but wondering would they usually release an incremental update for U1?

It still has the July Security Patch and only available in certain markets from what I read. Incremental like a small patch and not a full update.

Still don't understand what the difference between "small patch" and "full update" is, in your book. Not all updates are multiple GB in size and/or bring a new UI or Android version. Both U and U1 models have always gotten "small" updates, and always will.
And I'm sure it'll roll out to the other carriers soon
