Enable Google assistant. - Moto G5 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

To enable Google assistant just update your Google App and then change the phone language to English(US). Next head on to settings>apps>Google . Clean cache and data of Google App. Hurray you are done. Just long press home button or fingerprint sensor(if using it as navbar).?
Hit thanks if it helps.

Any help regarding this ?

i don't know about u but mine is working perfectly fine right out of the box..I selected the English US as my language though..

It is activated only on English US but when you change the language to English India, it is gone. I hope they add support for English India soon.

Changing language didn't help, also why on earth did the make the G5 plus with a hell of a lot smaller camera the G4 plus was 16 mega pixels not 12.

MP is NOT the full story with cameras. Aperture, shutter speed, OIS, HDR. There's way more...
Also, this is off topic for the thread...

Well, if U r on Nougat, u can add multiple languages in ur language setting, just add English US and English Ind. And set English US are primary language ke 1st language, enable assistant, then swap the languages and assistant will continue to work.

Tried all English language variants and assistant will not enable on the G5 plus, yes there is more to cameras but everything about the camera is of lower quality then last year's, how is it off topic as the thread is title Moto G5 plus guides and discussion.

Just update your Google app to latest and change language to English (US). Then clear cache & data of Google app. Reboot and you are good to use assistant.
G5+ don't have a bad camera than g4+ and not even too better camera. Its a small improvement. Don't run behind resolution. G5+ has larger aperture so it can take better low light shots. Yes one thing I really miss is laser auto-focus

[Q] Language and Local Settings limited on GNex ?

Only two variants of English, the English (US) and English (UK) are listed under the language settings. When I used an app called "Any Locale, a switching widget", I saw way more options than what was shown in the language menu. When I selected an English (India) option in the app, the language setting in language & input reflected that change and displayed the selected language as English(India). I still cannot access half the options the app shows in the main default language settings menu. Does anybody have any input on why this is happening ? Is it because GNex was not launched in all countries that the language option was limited. Does other non-stock JB ROMs also have this limitation ? Any input on the topic would be welcome. TIA
Stock 4.1.1 and I have access to like 40 languages in the main phone settings.

Let me try to make myself clearer. There are around 40 languages shown in the Language menu, in which there are only two variants for English . (United Kingdom and United states). Where as the app is offering a lot more options for the locale, which I can set from the app, like English (India). This gets reflected in Settings -> Language & input settings -> Language, so it is working to some extent but I dont understand why I cannot set it from there in the first place. The reason I am going to such detail is because the Navigation app uses this information to set accent of the voice, but I could not set the language to Indian locale from the default menu. I am using the Yakju build which is supposed to be the international build.

That's a good question, but unfortunately I have no idea. And I didn't realize that you could access other languages just by using that app.

Digging more, I found that play store has lots of apps which support custom locales, you could combine language , country and region to create a new one, there are some which retain the setting after reboot, but yet to find one which retains the settings after reboot on Jellybean devices. These apps are handy if you bought some phone say from no-name chinese manufacturer and did not have the usual locales on them.

When will "Ok Google" Dutch Voice actions be supported?

To bad I cannot use the ok Google voice actions in my own language at the moment.. Even English is not supported that well at the moment as far as I know. "navigate to London" does work but cannot navigate to Amsterdam [emoji15]
I have set the Google now settings (on my phone) to English and second language to Dutch. This doesn't help understanding voice actions at all, it only makes it worse.
Is German good supported at the moment?
There isn't even Dutch language menu support on wear... Come on Google..
Does anybody have any tips to make it better?

On my phone, navigation commands are understood but not on my watch.
For example... When I say "ok Google", "navigate to Amsterdam" (on my phone with Google now) it starts the maps navigation.
When I try the same on the watch it only start some websites found...
Can someone try what happens on your watch?

Same with italian language.. as far as i keep english as first language it works but italian as second language as well is not working almost at all!
on the phone everything works fine... when i get back on the watch italian even if selected doesn't work well.. and after yesterday update the blue circle spin much longer than before.. before was istantaneous !
i hope they work on a better release!
Hopefully google will sort this out sooner than later. I even cannot choose the interface language in Dutch. There is German, French, Spanish, Chinese etc but no Dutch. Not even after the Aw5.0.1 update...
Shame on you Google!
One other question, when initially installing the watch, I can select a few languages. I have set it to English, no problem, but there was no Dutch(Netherlands) available. I hope this is normal and Android Wear is not yet in Dutch? Or am I missing something?

[QUESTION] - Getting Google Assistant to work without changing phone language?

Hello fellow Nexus 5X owners
I would like to use the Google Assistant with it's commands and cool features, but the problem is that you need a) nougat & b) either English or German system-wide language/locale. But I don't want to change my whole phone to English, I woul like to keep it in my native language (Czech). It wouldnt be a problem with Marshmellow because there you could change the language/locale on a per-app basis using an XPosed module AppSettings. So my question is, does anybody know about a way to do it in this situation? To change the language just for the Google app so that it thinks my phone is in English and it allows me to use Google Assistant?
btw. I know I have to change the build.prop and stuffs I actually got Assistant working if I change the whole phone to English, so that's not a problem for me.
Thanks for any help.

Has Chinese/NFC version EU/global translations?

Hi, XDA!
I want to buy this device, but you know global version hasn't got NFC hardware enabled. So, I ask here if anyone has Chinese/NFC enabled and if it has global languages apart of Chinese and English (I want to enable Spanish and Russian, in particular).
So, apart of that question, I would like to know if anyone has taken advantage of NFC features and AI support out of Chinese market, or if knows future official/unofficial developments to enable and use NFC far from China.
Thanks a lot!
I'm not sure what languages besides English and Chinese are supported officially, but you can always flash this FW which contains Spanish and Russian - https://geekdoing.com/threads/international-firmware-for-mi-band-4.970/
As far as I know, it is not possible to use NFC outside of China (at least as of now).
If you install the notify and fitness for mi band 4 app from Google Playstore you can select from all languages. My phone language is set to Norwegian, and this was the only way to force the language on the band to English, but the app supports many languages.

Language

I have this problem with the Google Pixel 3xl. I prefer only US English but no matter how I try I keep getting my local pigen English in some of the applications. I followed the procedure and changed the prefared English to US but I still get this local language on some apps. How do I get only US English on this phone?

Are there more languages than just U.S. English installed at settings -> system -> languages & input -> languages?
The problem apps, are they regional? Is it possible they are programmed that way and not relying on the device language?
I really cannot say, but one of the application is Mapmyrun a sport tracker and I guess that could be from the US

That's a pretty main stream app. It does or does not use the locale correctly?
