Questions: widevine L1 clarifications - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I just ordered a Nexus 7 2013 (WiFi) from Swappa, I ordered it to watch Google Play, VUDU, and Netflix in HD alongside Crunchyroll, FUNimation, and AnimeLab (those 3 do not use Widevine L1 for HD). This will be my first L1 device I have ever owned and I DO NOT want to get it set to L3.
EDIT: Tablet arrived and I still had ZERO responses here so I went and did it, now it is answered here for others to read.
My questions:
Will unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP affect Widevine L1 status?
Ans: Widevine L1 is still functional after unlock and TWRP install
Will root on stock ROM affect Widevine L1?
Ans: Did not test system-root, went right for Magisk
If root does affect it, is Widevine L1 supported using Magisk systemless root?
Ans: Not sure if system root affects it, but Widevine L1 status is not affected by Magisk (with or without MagiskHide enabled)
Are there any custom ROMs that can use Widevine L1 and is is true that no nouget ROMS can use L1?
Ans: Did not test, But from what I have read CM14 roms can only be L3 at best (as there is no official Nouget rom) and Widevine video playback on CM13 roms is spotty at best with no clarification on if it is HD L1 or SD L3.
If I manage to lose L1 support, can I get it back provided I have backups of all the partitions?
Ans: I hope I do not need to find out

Rooted S9+ = No HD netflix/Hulu/Etc?

So I rooted my S9+ Exynos version, ofcourse when rooted the Netflix and most other video stuff aren't working until you delete/rename liboemcrypto.so.
But that's the DRM WideVine thingy, which changed my version from L3 to L1 (Checked with DRM info) so that means no HD media anymore.
Is there a way to fix this?
You're in the s9 forum

Netflix version is not compatible with this device

So I'm trying to use Netflix on my Note 8 and when I search for it on Play Store, the app doesn't show up. Also, when I sideload the apk it won't start
Hi, you need to root using magisk 20.3 and get the safetynet v3 patch and it solves the issue for now

might be because you did something with your device and lost widevine L1 certificate. Your current widevine might be L2 or L3.
Same issue for me
My device has widevine L1 certificate but I can't install Netflix
How to solve this...
I am on India stable 11.0.2.0 rom version...

L1 Security Patch in custom roms.

I was wondering if it was possible to incorporate L1 Security patch which is needed by apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime to stream HD videos. Are there any available Xposed module or flashable zips perhaps.
This thing is not possible as it is incorporated in the motherboard itself.
Its so intense that if u try to flash another vendor on l1 enabled device (eg mi 9t pro vendor on k20 pro ) u will loose l1 forever and have to remain on 480p

Netflix streaming Quality

After the Oxygen OS Update from 10 to 11,my widevine rating went from L1 to L3. Because of that I'm not able to play HD content on Netflix. I can only play in SD quality. Any idea to fix it
If I recall correctly, may be due to bootloader unlock or you need a hide magisk module?
Still slowly learning phone but I remember coming across this switching to international.
Just got my widevine back to L1 from L3 with the latest update today for the OnePlus 7T with bootloader unlocked and root
Finally, about time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agree totally. Custom kernel like Dora or galtgulch really speed up latest stock oos11

Question Poco F3 rooting

I just got my Poco F3 6/128 a few days ago and I was thinking about rooting it, but will I lose the ability to use banking apps, NFC payments, Widevine L1, OTA updates, etc? Running latest MIUI Global 12.5.6.0 Stable.

I don't use banking apps on my Poco F3 but I can tell you right now safety net is passing on EU rom which is basically like stock Chinese rom but with extras. I can also tell you topjohnwu that guy that makes magisk is now working for Google and his latest version is without magisk hide because it's a conflict of interest. So it's not going to stay but at anytime you can wipe your phone, flash stock and even relock bootloader if you want to. So whatever you decide it's not permanent. I personally always want root access so I don't care about safety net I'm still going to root. Also this phone is extremely difficult to flash roms on. I've only done 2 roms but I had to wipe phone and flash stock because the update zip screwed up the phone.
Flashing a stock ROM and locking the bootloader restores everything even if I lose Widevine L1?

If you want to root you should be a risk-taker because there is a 90% chance of losing something in your phone.
I have stock EEA ROM rooted and all my banking apps, GPay, Netflix work fine. The latest update didn't want to update with the smaller delta update. But MIUI offered to download a bigger package (full rom), which installed fine. Had to re-root after the update, but this is normal.
Running on latest xiaomi.eu ROM AND rooted, Widevine L1, NFC and banking app is working (Israel)

Running on latest Xiaomi.EU Stable ROM and rooted with Magisk, can use banking apps and passes SafetyNet.
Automated firmware updates may not be working.
