Stock Images for RETLA and RETAIL updates channels. - Moto G5 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Here is the link for the stock images for those 2 updates channels. Due to HW changes in those models, I recommend to not try to flash RETAIL on RETLA devices, you can end no NFC, because of the lack of this on USA variant.
RETAIL

RETLA (Mexico-Brazil-Chile-etc...)
7.0 NPN25.137-15 LINK
Hope it is usefull for you guys.
Bye!

My device is retin channel. Im from india.
Are Brazil models and india ones different.
We have 2 versions here 3gb ram 16gb rom and 4gb ram 32gb rom.

I guess that indian and latino variants are the same... NFC and no compass. If you want to risk, you can try installing. first verify your latest version. I noticed that USA variant is on 137-33 and we al others are on 137-15.

No, you cannot. The bootloader is locked and the Amazon version has a different signing key. The amazon version even has a different software channel than RETAIL.

retail version works on EU version?

My firmware version on the Amazon version of the g5 plus is NPN25.137-33.
Maybe a possibility to flash a modified version of the OEM.img in rsdlite to remove Amazon branding?

The bootloader is locked and will not accept modification to any image on the device. Modifying OEM.img or applying a different OEM.img will not work. This is because when your bootloader is locked the images need to be signed with the proper key that Motorola only has. When a file is modified in a signed image it changes the signature of the image and causes it to fail the preflash validation checks that the bootloader performs for any file that is written during flashing.
Sorry to break it to you dude, but you're kind of stuck until someone finds a juicy exploit that allows you to assume root permissions. Once you have root, you should be able to debloat to your heart's delight.

Hi
i wanted to ask if someone flashes the RETLA image, except for the NFC is there a possibility that the compass will work ?
Because the EU versions they don't have the compass and have the NFC and for the US version it's the opposite

which one is indian version??

it is not a software thing, it is hardware, any variant but US lacks of compass sensor. In the other hand, US is the only than lacks of NFC hw.

The Amazon version in particular has a locked bootloader, so software is also an issue if and only if you have the Amazon Prime version of the G5 Plus...

Which one is the firmware for XT1687 RETUS US Version? Thanks

Which one should I use for the Indian one i.e xt1686

What software channel do the Amazon variants have? I'm on "lra" so I'm wondering if this might be the Amazon version. There are no ads though. I bought it from eBay.

[Download] G5 Plus March Security Update for Retail Channels

Hey everyone,
You can download the March security update for G5 Plus (Retail channel only) from here
Side-load it through ADB.
(Note: This has been tested on Indian retail variant. It may/may not work on other retail variants - proceed at your own risk)
New build number is NPNS25.137-92-8
My RETIN device hasn't received the OTA yet. Is it rolling out now?

You may edit the title to something like "G5 Plus March Security Updates for Indian Retail Devices" as some users still don't know that it's a different firmware than for reteu/retus devices (those are ending on 93) and flashing this one could cause problems or at least take the opportunity to receive future OTA's.
Just a hint, no insinuation in any way, it's great that people like you share their firmware.

I don't see any problem with that, since it's a retail variant and there's no radio (carrier) dependency. Since all Moto G5 Plus retail variants are identical (except for no. of SIMs), there shouldn't any issue generally.
Can we just install it through TWRP ?
Bcoz i had hard bricked my moto g5 plus and use albus blank flash and i got like Moto z play bootloader and finally now its running by losing voLTE and Google pixel experience with 3g ...
So i am just wondering if i can flash it through twrp and then i get moto g5 plus boot loader back then i again flash a latest version firmware...

If you take a look here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/potter/official/RETAIL/
you'll see retail variants ending on 92 (+something) and on 83/93(+something). Both are retail firmwares and I think you can flash a 92 on a european or us device but as you change into the retin channel you won't receive regular OTA anymore. Motorola/Lenovo makes it hard to differ between the firmwares and I will try to find a stable source for that. I'm from Germany and I'm rooted so I don't take OTA's at the moment but friends of mine have received the march security patch and they are on a build called NPNS25.137-93-4.

No, after using albus blank flash you can't flash regular firmware anymore. You have to use a TWRP flashable version or any custom ROM.

Yes, you´re right, I mixed it up. 93-4 was for january I believe? But it´s 93-x for RETUS/RETEU, not 92-x., that´s what I wanted to point out.

I think i read somewhere in other threads that we can do it once oreo roles out .... so that we can pull away the new boot loader and push it to the hard bricked phones then we can normally get back the Moto g5 plus with official Oreo with OEM locking...
is this true ?

Possible. Like with the missing volte/4g or IMEI 0 problem some people hope that Oreo can fix it.
We will only be sure when/if Oreo is available.

So after releasing Oreo for moto g5 plus .. how long it might take to fix our phones using this method ? do we have to wait for deodexed oreo ROM or just directly install boot loader into phone and flash and push Oreo using fastboot method ?

I can't tell you. I'm not sure if Lenovo comes out with Oreo at all, it's been a long time of waiting now.
I think you are able to try it at once when you can grab a firmware with bl but maybe you'll have to wait until TWRP flashable builds are available or the kernel sources are released and some clever Dev can pick the needed files.
You can just wait and hope.

LG G8 Android 10 beta UX 9.1

Hey has anyone tried the android 10 beta version for g8? Now it comes with new UX 9.1 which is cool and almost lookalike Samsung's one ui
So it seems that now, after successfully cross flashing your device (v40 and v50 with 1.15 cmd line and soon to be tested with 1.16), in theory, you could crossflash with korean firmware, then side load the OTA with lg up 1.16.
Who's willing to RISK?
Here is the example for V50:

If i can convert my Sprint lg g8 to US unlocked version this will be golden. hopefully we can.
On my Sprint G8 as well. Does anybody know if it has the new gestures?

pay attention that the LG G8 Korean model has the exact 3 cameras on the back like v50. It's different from g8 us and g8s european.
But that doesn't mean it can't work.
I think that you can flash Korean firmware only on Korean models. Otherwise you can brick your phone. I have unlocked version 820QM7 and I don't take risk to flash 820N firmware.

LG G7 didn't bricked.
LG V40 also. But on the V40 wifi does not work after first restart. But reverted back works. So nothing to lose. But I repeat, hardware side, G8 has different versions, V40 and 50 don't.

Nope, because even the V50 shares the same camera apk version as the G8. All sensors are supported.
But who knows for camera libraries, again g8 shares 2 of the 3 sensors. Also who knows if other hardware is present on Korean?

LG Wing 5g (LM-F100TMW) Dual Sim Variant

Hi! I need some info on how will i be able to find the correct kmz or firmware for this variant. As what the title says, it is a LM-F100TMW with Android version 11.
When i try to check via IMEI on LGROM, it says that i am using a LM-F100EMW variant from TAIWAN or TWN. I already downloaded the recommended firmware from that website but I'm still not sure if it is the right one.
Just needed to make sure, you know? Haha! Thanks!

If it's not the correct firmware,LGUP will give you an error saying you can't swap firmware from region_x to region_z as an example.
