new Mi5s screen problem - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

My friend brought me a brand new Mi5s from China. I heard many good reviews on this phone so asked my friend to get me one. I was excited to unbox and it is a beautiful phone but soon found an issue with the screen. Running the touch screen test (from *#*#6484#*#*), put my finger on the screen and there is a coordinates showing my finger's current position on the screen. I then move my finger very slowly on x axis, there is no change of the coordinates. If I keep moving then the coordinates suddenly start to jump to where the new location represents e.g. from 500, 500 to 550, 500 (skips 501, 502, 503... 549 on x axis). I have run similar test on my other phones (galaxy s5, s7, note 4) all have no problem , the coordinates change immediately if I move my finger.
How did I found this? I found this when I was playing fps games. When I slowly moved my finger to aim, the cross just doesn't move and if I keep moving my finger, it suddenly jumps.
Here is a photo, dx and dy on top of the screen shows how much movement i have made on the screen. I have tried to move to left, so dx is -51. I can't make a horizontal enough move so there is some movement vertically hence dy -10 . The issue is there is no way to make a movement less than that, say 1 (or -1). It doesn't register the tiny movement until at some point the accumulated movement is around 50 .

Is this a faulty item or just design bug?

not sure how can i add an image? i tried a link from imgur, but it appears as corrupted.
Edit: ignore, i have figured it out.

Aroma Installer (wip)

Tried getting aroma to work no luck. Going to keep trying.
Okay guys I am in desperate need of some help here. Myself, hyperrunner, and smirkis have been trying to get Aroma to work on the Kindle fire and have had no success yet with getting the touch screen to calibrate correctly.
Running the calibtool and touching the dots correctly the numbers that return are way off and are extremely huge numbers, and after touching the 5th(center) dot, you should see a large dot where you touch and that does not happen. But if you go through the set up as though the tablet would be portrait, you get some descent calibrate numbers back, and after the 5th dot, the screen does show touches now, just not in the correct position.

So running normaly throught set up it has you touch points A,B,C,D. But the result from that is usless. But if you touch it as C,A,D,B I get some descent numbers which are
calibrate("1.9490", "74", "6.4672", "8")
But now my touches are actully 90 degrees off. On the caveman drawn x y chart. If I move my finger up and down they y axis, the dot will actually move along the x axis, and visa versa. Was wondering if there is a way to take the calibrate numbers from above and convert them to rotate my touches 90 degrees.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Sorry I just copied and pasted this from the Aroma Installer thread, maybe two places is better than one, maybe!! Hopefully!!
What package are you using/where can I download aroma installer. so I can see if I could do anything to help.

[Q] Touch Screen Responsiveness

Hi, I bought my nexus 7 in 2013, it had Kitkat 4.4.4 for most of its time, I never rooted it.
However about three months back I noticed a strange thing that I could only pull down the notification bar from the very left and right ends of the screen.
Since I was a bit skeptical I did installed a touch screen test app named "Yet Another MultiTouch Test" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt and tested the screen responsiveness, then I found out that a slight strip on the top edge of the tough screen had become unresponsive rest of the screen was fully responsive. For the clear visualization please refer to the following illustration as I didn't took a screen shot at that time.

I didn't consider it as a big issue as it didn't get in the way of using the device.
Eventually I updated to android lollipop and the touch screen issue still existed as same as when the device was on kitkat 4.4.4, but from last couple of weeks my touch screen issue seem to increase over time not full vertical strip has gone unresponsive to touch.
After going through many threads I even took the back cover off and check if the touch screen connectors are intact. The only thing I didn't try was software mods as I doubt that would help me because used this for almost a year without any issue.
I never dropped the device the screen shows no damage or whats so ever.
So I shall be much be thankful if anybody could help me find where the defect is.

Screen off memo bizarreness

Either i'm going crazy, or Screen off memo changed between the pre-battery-recall firmware and post-battery-recall.
I could *swear* the line thickness was smaller before the update.
Also, what's with the weird minus-shaped cursor when you hover?
When you start writing, it turns into a normal circle shaped cursor, but as soon as you move the pen away and bring it back to the screen, it's a little dash again, until you actually touch the screen and start writing.
I'm fairly certain it's a bug, i'm just not sure if it's just my device or if it's widespread.
I'm on the original Note 7 PH9 frimware everything is as described. Except this "line thickness" I'm not sure what you're referring to?
I can't say much about line thickness, but it does seem very responsive to pressure - maybe try using the harder grey s-pen tip instead of the stock one, which is softer?
The line is there to show you where you're lined up.
Weird, i'd swear i didn't see that line before.
So if it's there to show where you're lined up, why does it turn into a normal cursor once you touch the screen - and stays that way for as long as you keep the pen in proximity to the screen?
Re: line thickness - good point, maybe they changed the pressure/thickness responsiveness slightly, or this pen has a slightly different feel. I'll try the harder tip.
Just to be clear re: cursor, this is what i was talking about:

Screen issue

So I recently started to notice a vertical line (or lines) on some screens. This normally happens in dark gray-ish backgrounds which are used in many apps as night mode or loading screens.

This is also the place where the see through part of the case begins, when it's closed. The reason I say this is because the case that came with the phone works very weirdly - it does nothing when I close the flap normally, but when I fold it behind the phone it will lock the screen and go into "case mode".
My friend has the same phone and says his works normally, I'll try to get my hands on his phone / case to do some more experiments..
I understand that I should exchange the phone but given that it isn't even sold in my country and there isn't any stock left at the moment, I want to try to solve this if possible.
Has anyone here got the same issue ? Or any experience with such an issue ?
I used to have similar things, only worse, on my older amoleds (Motorola was pretty bad ) but I thought this has since been fixed - just checked my pixel and there are no lines or spots ..

My comparison with mate 9 pro and pixel XL :
I've highlighted the lines that are visible to me with my eyes (not thought the camera) I understand that camera shows a lot of blemishes on all screens but there are clear lines on Huaweis and nothing on the pixel when I look at it .
Bonus galaxy s7:
Also perfect when not looking through the camera ...
Edit: I should also add that this 'defect' is much more noticeable on the PD, even though I can see some lines on the Pro I wouldn't have noticed them through normal use, I think .

Question Touchscreen overly sensitive while scrolling - issue when lifting finger

I recently got my phone and I am frequently experiencing a really annoying issue: while I'm browsing reddit, facebook, etc. the touchscreen appears to be overly sensitive, so whenever I scroll holding my finger on the screen, when I lift my thumb at the end it registers a small scrolling movement making the display jitter/jump slightly. I have the "touch sensitivity" settings turned off and I do use a glass screen protector but that wasn't an issue with my previous 200$ Xiaomi.
Is it a defective unit, or are all S21 FEs like this? Is there a fix expected? Otherwise I will consider returning my phone.
I don't have this issue but, I don't use screen protection and the screen refresh rate is set to 60Hz (and sure, "touch sensitivity" is also set to off)
Did you try with both refresh rates?
What processor version does your S20 FE have?
Mine is the Snapdragon one
It's the Snapdragon version and switching between 60 or 120hz doesn't make a difference
Experiencing the same issue and reported it to samsung via the members app.
I've made a screen recording in 60 fps using scrcpy and the touch debugging enabled while viewing a grid paper PDF.
You can clearly see on many swipes where there is a random 1 or 2 sample points extra when the finger lifts off. It seems to be mostly triggered when trying to do precise movements, like trying to align the grid to the edge.
Hi Team
I can confirm, that I was facing the same issue right after the purchase of the phone. But after the latest update, the issue is finally solved for me ;-)
