Pure Stock ROM Like Nexus - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Can Anyone Post Me AOSP ROM like pure Nexus on 7.1.1 for Lenovo P2... Where I can use my LED notification from third party as well... Maybe a ROM like OnePlus 3T or Nexus/Pixel....

all LineageOS rom seems to fulfill your needs, except LED ..
LED and FP sensor arent working , and DEVS are fixing them.. so it would be generous if we wait till it gets fixed

Is Oxygen OS as good or better then MIUI?

In comparison to Xiaomi's MIUI how is the Oxygen Os?
Does it have...
Call recording option in dialler without any third party software.
Something like a security app to clean cache, scan for virus's and grant permission for apps.
Inbuilt backup and restore option which backup all user data plus apps user made data to cloud.
Power options to change power saving profile according to time and restart the sevice automatically at given time like 6am.
And if you have used both MIUI and OOS... who do you think is better?

Get a Mi phone for all those features plus a mi phone will have better support for miui roms. Oxygen os is close to stock with some little functional tweaks. it doesn't have anything fancy like miui. But if you would ask me which rom is better i would say oos. it's simple clean less gimmicky. Hope this helps you.
Hi,
If you want to try MIUI, I suggests, buy Mi5... A MIUI port won't stable than an original one.
From my perspective: MIUI is really beautiful... If you see the screenshots.... You should try it. I think, everyone tried at least once... But for daily driver? No way. If you ever used AOSP based roms (oos, cm, etc), you won't use MIUI. I'm 80% sure, that you'll replace the original launcher. Than you'll sick some annoying incompatibles... Just look at MIUI forums. Problems with pop-up windows (for example Facebook messanger), problems with Android Pay, etc, etc.
I was ordered Mi5 (4/128G), but it went to out of stock, so I got refund... That was my luck. Now, I'm a happy OP3 user, and I don't need MIUI... That's my opinion.
As someone who previously always used stock or near stock ROMS, I currently own a Xiaomi Mi5. I ran with Miui for about a few weeks, but it really frustrated the hell out of me. Yes it looks nice, but I was always finding background apps just randomly stopped working or you had to allow extra security settings. I tried Google Now Loader on it, but that randonmly stopped working. In the end, I've flashed CM on it. So much better.
Going from a stock or near stock rom to MIUI is like going from Android to Apple. I will be returning my Mi5 to stock and selling on, as I now have a OP3 on the way.
Another reason - community support for OP3 is already strong. The Mi5 support thread is a joke.

why dont you try the hos
for me OOS is better than miui. as i prefer stock android ui than heavily skinned miui.
MIUI 8 is cool- looking, feature-rich, but i just dont like the ios lookalike UX.
I have bad experiences with Oxygen in OP1 and 2, always uses CM or H20 ,
but if you are wondering about phones which running those 2 OS - Xiaomi mi5 and OP3, i think i should go for OP3, MI5 looks cheap with white color, and huge bezels
All the features you mentioned are available in the Chinese rom for OnePlus phones. Call recording is there, extra app permissions lockdown, etc. You'll have to install GApps manually if you need it.
The OP3 isn't on that page yet but should be soon.
Hope to See a miui rom for the op3 soon. Now using the mi launcher on it.

I think both are not compareable. They try to reach different goals (MIUI feature rich and pretty colorful while OOS wants to add some features but stay close to stock). It depends mainly on the user.
I will be happy with tweaked OOS once my device will be delivered while you can count on custom ported MIUI roms. There's not that better one imho

It mean "call recording" is not available in Oxygen?
I expect your answer to flash Oxygen. My OP3 is running H20 and if it isn't "call recording", i will not flash.
all oxygen is is stock android with a few apps from oneplus. plus it supports layers themeing. so yes IMO its almost as good as getting a nexus and much better than miui.
OOS on a Mi5?
I'm not sold on the aesthetic and a couple aspects of the OP3, I quite prefer the Mi5. I'm strongly considering attempting to load OxygenOS onto the 4/128gb Mi5 as my next phone and it sounds like people in this thread might have direct experience with this setup.
Any thoughts/tips? I unfortunately can't wait for the new Nexus phone(s) but I'm also considering a couple phones from ZTE & Huawei...
Thanks
Porting OxygenOS would be hard and pointless at this point, because Mi5 doesn't even have kernel sources and a working AOSP ROM. If you really want iOS lookalikes, I would recommend OPPO phones. They didn't release flagship for a couple years, but at least they know how to develop software well. R7 Plus has even Cyanogenmod 13, I believe.

Thanks but I specifically don't like iOS and wanting a phone that doesn't look like an iPhone is part of the draw towards the Mi5. That R7 Plus is an interesting phone, but for me the screen is too big and the CPU & GPU are quite subpar.
No one who makes a smartphone for the US has made one with the specs I'm looking for. OP3 falls short, the Nexus 6P is too far behind now, I find the Galaxy S7 to be hideous, the G5 was a disappointment. The HTC 10 is the closest bet but it's battery life sucks probably due to its pointlessly 4K screen.
The Huawei P9, Honor V8, ZTE Nubia Z11, and the Mi5 Pro are my top contenders at the moment, but there's no way I'm using their own OSs.
IMO Samsung is a big disappointment, because of their weird things like Knox.
boy i hate miui.. its known to bring gingerbread memory leak issues to marshmellow ! hahaha on the mi5 it restarts apps unnecessarily lol
Gingerbread didn't have memory leaks... or I've not experienced them while I was using it. In comparison, lollipop and above always had them on my Z2. That's why I started porting SailfishOS

I'm using the Mi launcher too. The look and feel of Miui and the best of OOS or Exodus Rom
OOS is great out of the box - stock Android with goodies (and useful goodies at that). Really stable and fast.
And since it's very near to stock Android, many Xposed modules work, so you can customize it much very easily.
It is beyond me why someone could prefer MIUI over that.

New on 10, what's the situation?

Hello guys, here a htc m7, m8, m9 and few nexus devices user
Can I ask something to anyone who was here before me? just to be updated about the situation:
-is there vulkan support here?
-no daydream eh?
-what exactly do we lose with AOSP roms? sound should be fine since the bass/high system is a phisical thing...I just expect camera performance drop
-I was something about AOSP CAF....is there really a pure aosp compiled port?? with no lineage stuff? would be great
-Is EAS really magic as they say?
-Is there a full stock rom zip? with no wipe?
-I feel the display colors a little unbalanced...how are you dealing with that?
-Camera is great, no dubt, but I expected more....
I was on nexus 5x and google camera's hdr+ does an amazing job on post process, making shots more eye-candy, despite of quality
are you using third party apps? any advice? low light shots are really noisy
Thank you very much for your attention

If it isn't there, it will be soon. Taiwanese 10's have it I think, but it'll get pushed to all of them in coming OTA's.
I don't believe so, needs AMOLED per Google's official specs
I think the only feature loss with AOSP is VoLTE and WiFi Calling.
Yes, its WIP but the only thing not working that I know of is video recording. Eliminater74 will fix it.
Eh, its neat but its not the be all, end all. It's more of an alternative to PnP.
Yes, check Sneakyghost's thread or download a RUU.
Custom kernel's and the AOSP ROMs have color sliders for fine tuning.
I use Google cam on Res Remix and the stock camera for Sense. Works for my uses.

Many thanks for reply! I didn't know about amoled for [email protected]
I think that in aosp we should lose boomsound and proprietary camera stuff, that help with image processing....
Tried nebula rom yesterday, I expected a cleaner rom....and something more on performance haha but htc devices never played well with aosp IMO
I can tune the display, but without a good tool....you know, is hard to achieve a good calibration
I'm going to try google camera, but nexus have dedicated post processing systems that, really, make the difference....just look at pixel shots....though pixel have similar camera, they look far better

oos camera for AOSP/CAFT rom

hi all, i really like modding my phone and changing roms but i like the oos camera; honestly it works better (at the momment) than the third party camera apps.
that said, i'm wanting to know if there is any way to port the oos camera app for aosp or caft roms in a easy way (I'm not a developer, just an android entuciast )
Yes there is a way as a guy on the OP3/T forums ported the OOS camera too LineageOS after a lot of time and effort so it can be done, I am waiting for AOSPA to come out as they managed to use the stock camera libs (I believe) which led to pretty much the same video/picture quality.
I'm also looking for an op5 camera port for rom aosp or caf .. hopefully in the future

Treble ROMs discussion

Have anyone tried flashing the Treble roms on to the P20 lite? If yes, please share with us which ROM and how good/bad it is.
Seems like Treble ROMs are the way forward since we do not see custom development happening anytime soon.
In case you are unfamiliar with Treble, please read Treble FAQ
Treble ROMs can be downloaded from the forum
I'm in the openkirin group in telegram, being so far I think the only lineageOs tester with Android 8.1 in the p20 lite and so far the only serious problem is the camera
If we talk about other aspects, the navigation bar is still a bit smaller than the notch, the contacts of the Sim card are nonexistent, you can not change the internal storage to the SD card and finally the facial recognition is not enabled
Edit: full screen display mode is available, but you have to activate it manually from the settings (applications that do not appear in full screen do not give the option to adapt them as it does in stock)
I tried Lineage and RR (v22) from phhusson as well as the official RR which i use as a daily driver. They work mostly fine except for some minor issues... Music usually plays through the speakers even when headphones are plugged in and it sometimes randomly stops. When charging while turned off, the device boots into eRecovery. The notch is not really supported but RR allows you to move the clock to the left. This way, icons are less likely to be hidden behind the notch. Additionally there are some rom-specific bugs like some settings not doing anything in RR. Battery life is pretty good (I dont use gapps).
The issues will probably get fixed eventually when someone provides logs.
Is the official better than the phhusson one ?
I tried it and was not can of it I think P will be better for the Huawei P20 because of the notch support and navbar replacement by touch gestures.
I tried RR, AOSP, Pixel Experience and Los.
Too much broken features to use it as a daily driver.
For the moment I run the stock rom debloated with adb.

I didnt notice any difference between the phhusson RR build and the official one so far. RR has several options to replace the navbar too btw. I personally use fling which is highly customizable. There is also the option to use edge gestures or a pie menu. System wide gestures are available too but can only be used to launch apps.

Basically all the problems I mentioned before. But those are the same with all treble roms I tried. Generally RR seems less polished than Lineage and some features are broken, e.g. dark theme in settings. Nothing critical though... However, I only tested the stuff I commonly use (calling, wifi, bluetooth etc. works fine for me).
Someone on phhussons Github reported that his P20 lite overheats when fast charging but for me it works flawlessly.
I don't see the P20 lite as being "treble" supported at this time. What am I missing? I would love to get vinalla android on this and give the device some performance improvements.

Oh the P20lite very much supports Treble. You can check on your own device using a terminal app, type:
Code:
getprop ro.treble.enabled
If the result is true, Treble is supported.
or if you're rooted, simply open the build.prop file (at your own risk!) and check.
Alternately, here is a page with a list of Treble supported devices:
Treble devices list
I do not understand much about treble, but I want my device to always have the latest android available, does your comment means that I can have that in my P20 lite?
Here is a very detailed description of Treble.
Link
Treble is aimed to provide updates to all the devices that support treble at the same time. Since P20 is already shipped with the latest android version, it is irrelevant at this time. But in case you want to flash third party ROMs such as Lineage, there are Treble version of these ROMs that are common for all the Treble devices.
The problem I ran into was the notch.
Obviously these ROMs don't support it really. So notifications go all the way along the top.
Did I miss something?

Yes they don't really support the notch. This is because these ROMs are for all the Brands/models that support Treble and most of them don't have a notch.

Bug Free custom roms for daily use?

I have tried so many custom roms in my Redmi 5 plus including havoc OS, AEX, RR, Syberia , pixel experience etc. but none of them are bug free or appropriate for daily driver to be honest. some of the roms have camera bug where I did everything according to the thread's discussion but nothing seemed to work or resolve problem. In some Roms I faced problem where my Internal storage wasn't recognized by my PC (storage mode didn't work)
Before Redmi 5 plus, I had 2 Xperia phones and I used to have custom roms installed because there were so many good, perfect stable custom roms for such devices. I wonder whats wrong with Xiaomi or redmi 5 plus. why none of the rom is well suitable for daily driver.
Also though I hate MIUI, it seems its the only perfect rom for Redmi 5 plus so I use Xiaomi.EU rom. However this doesn't give me aosp experience tbh.
I wish Instead of so many same aosp based Roms there were some good fully or mostly bug free Roms for Redmi 5 plus, appropriate for daily driver.
Forse your wish to be true, some real developers would be needed. It's easy to clone some GitHub repos and cherry pick commits.... Not so easy to work out bugs in the base tree, for this you need experienced developers.
... Don't get me wrong, guys here are great for what they do, and I highly appreciate all of them. The most long standing ones like Blacksuan or Amulayax or Rama962 are specially to be thanked, but really nobody has ever been capable to address the long standing open issues. I hope they do, they deserve the credit.
My experience is that LOS 16 is the best and mostly bugfree custom ROM out there. Of course, WhatsApp greencam but is present, but it's WhatsApp bug not ROM bug.
Most of other bugs can be fixed by installing latest China dev firmwares... And are not ROM related but Xiaomi related.
.. in general, that's the best you can get, a small price to pay to stay away from MIUI.

Check the LOS thread, try it. I can't say about the Green cam issue, it's totally because of the apps not able to work properly with our 4.9 kernel drivers and the blobs. But I have successfully fixed green cam on Snap Camera. And GCam 5 is working pretty good without any issue. We have revamped the build environment finally. So I don't think you'll face any bugs on that one.
If you do, make sure you post it in the thread** with logs**
And you can wish anything you want, there are no limits, I never saw you sharing logs in thread discussions for bugs you face. We are not god, we don't know what bugs occur why they do unless community supports. Most people using Vince lack basic knowledge of taking logcats or being polite enough to get the bugs fixed. Check the AEX thread in post #2 you'll find changelog, go through it, see how it is evolved from the base variant, it was only because the people in AEX thread were polite and supportive. We have been successful in keeping dumb vince users out of that thread. No other thread for vince has that kind of community support.
For example, guys like you, who compare it with development of other phones, more than the developers it's the community responsible. If the community had been polite and supportive we would spend more time on concentrating on issues others face, but people chose to just rant issues without any proof, i.e logs.
