Black Pixel Boot Animation - Google Pixel XL Themes, Apps, and Mods

The black pixel animations on xda didn't have sound and some had some white around the dots so I made my own.

Nice! I've been looking for something like this. Looks great. Excellent work.

Good work!
Attached is a flashable version using file supplied.
Does the sound file stay in the zip? Or does it want extracting to a directory? As if so, it may be lacking sound.
P.s I can't test sound as baby has just gone off. And my wife may kill me if I wake her

Great thanks. The sound stays in the zip. I just took the original images and modified it. I'm probably going to upload a new version because the numb under the Google logo is bothering me.

No problem. If you update it you can release as flashable using zip provided and just paste over the bootanimation.zip in system/media. Inside the zip and its ready to go.
I was hoping to make / port some boot animations over to the pixel/ xl but no laptop makes it very difficult at the moment.
Look forward to see more from you.

I just updated it with a better looking G at the end. Links are all in the OP.
@tiboric
This is my first time ever doing something like this. Its an interesting learning experience. How does the update-binary work? I see how I can modify the updater-script to my own needs, but is there some program to generate the update-binary?

Too be honest me too, I'm use to QMG boot animations on Samsung's . this is a new format to me although it doesn't seems to have changed much since the early days of android.... More research is needed me thinks

Where did you get the update scripts from? I tried opening the binary but its just data. I was actually scrolling for black pixel boots but couldn't find any good ones so I took a dive into the zip file. It was surprisingly easy to edit.

Thanks for the contribution.

Who is the original creator of this flashable zip?
Not the animation but the zip itself?
I was never able to mod zips before to flash on Pixel.
And I've modded a ton of zips & updater scripts for all my previous phones.
But Pixel was... resistant.
But this freakin zip is working great and looks... "normal" like I'm used to.
I need to know who to give credit to for after I snag it for other purposes.

works very nicely-thank you!

very nice job my friend.. this is how it should've been in from the beginning.. the white is so bright when you restart your phone at night.. lol

Great Job Thank you looks much better than the stock.

Not been on in a while, but it is Tulsadiver's font zip, so give him all the Thanks

I was just about to start editing the white one to make it black but i searched instead and found this... although i compared my editing to this one, my editing shows a bit off-coloring but with better resolution.. so i stopped editing.. .. well they are about 400+ pictures damn lol it will take long time.. so this one is better
EDIT: I just took this and edited a few pics in the beginning .. made it start with a smooth simple effect

Awesome! I actually used photoshop's batch actions to create the animation. It would have taken way to long to do it all by hand.
What is the difference between the intro you made and the one that I have up? If it's better you could send me the file and I'll put it in the op.

This thing is huge (21.5MB) Sorry.
The .gif below doesn't do this thing justice. It's glorious on the G1.
"Digital Myst"
1. Download bootanimation.zip
2. Put it on your sdcard
3. open terminal enter these commands:
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/
reboot
4. Enjoy

Not hard at all.
Couple of questions:
1- will this work for super e? Wasn't sure if that was the right directory for that rom.
2- this is 21MB... willl this reduce the speed of my phone (less memory)?
Also... the pic makes this look amazing... enough to make me ask 2 possible dumb questions.

1. Yes it will work on Super E.
2. Shouldn't affect speed, but it will take up a lot of internal memory.
I would wait until I can get this down in size A LOT.
It's based of a 1920x1080 resolution so even sizing it down didn't reduce the size.
Can you upload to mediafire or xda itself? 4shared.com is making me wait 2 minutes just do download this bootanimation.
I'm glad I have a mytouch 3G. I don't have to really worry that much about system space.

[MOD] Gingerbread Horizontal Battery with 1% increment KE7

I've always used this mod in SGS1. I like it better than the vertical one because the numbers are better spread out and not so squishy.
Anyway here's my mod of Rawat's battery mod. The gfx were from old sgs1 framework and I really forgot where I got it from. Thanks to whoever who did the gfx. Thanks also to Rawat for the initial framework-res.apk.
I really only did the cut&paste and some testing, so I take no credit for this.
Hope someone finds it useful
Sorry I've been up too long doing this mod, it's time to zzz, so I can't write a detail installation instructions. But Chalid has made another similar mod (vertical battery) and has kindly put up some very detailed instructions there. Thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091177
Note: This is for KE7 firmware only, not tested with other versions.
edit: ok, seems fixed, so i've added back the attachment. refer post 5.
Installed on KE7..... However:
As expected it wipes all accounts on the phone (such as google/facebook etc.), but everytime I go into settings, accounts and sync to re-add them the whole phone freezes. As in as soon as I hit "accounts and sync" everything crashes, then goes black with only the the top of the display (I forget what you call it, with the phone signal, battery indicator etx. visable.
Then it comes back to life, but I have to restart luncher pro. Have to switch off wireless, and back on again otherwise it doesn't work either.
Also happens if I try and add any new account via contacts, or gmail.
Reverting back to original framework-res.apk cures the crashing problem. But then it's back to stock battery indicator =(
you are right. i didn't notice this coz when i replaced mine, it didn't wipe out any account, no i didn't go into settings.
ok, removed attachment for now and see if i can redo it. sorry for any inconveniences.
Shame. I liked it better than the vertical one.
Would deffo have used it. I'll keep an eye out to see if you repost it, and try again.

well ok, but i am not well versed in android hacking, so it's kind of a learning process for me too
i've re-done the framework-res, tested it for a day and seems to be fine now. here it is if you want to try it again.
The Account wiping can happen if you don't set the permissions right. Copy the framework-res.apk to /system first, change permissions to rw-r-r (644) and then move the file to /system/framework
Is it working? This looks sweet
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

Edit : Also if you want only the Signal and Wifi items green and the CRT and this battery mod. you must install the linked item first and then re-install the Horizontal Battery for it to work properly. if not you will get the Circular battery.

[MOD] No Gradient in settings

What up my fellow XDA buddies. I take no credit for this. I didnt create VRTheme nor did I make the black image. I just put it together so every ROM and GSM/LTE can use it. I didnt want to post this in the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588613 as he already had so much going on. Thought this would make it easier.
As always, make a NAND before and I am not responsible if this blows up your phone.
1. Download
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Flash
4. Reboot and enjoy.

I made a similar thread a while back but used a MetaMorph/ZipThemer zip.
You should make a VRTheme zip using arzbhatia's image and give it to him to post in his thread, save him the trouble of making a zip for every ROM.
Thought it was the same image. That is why I made this thread. I linked it in the first post. I will download his to see what img he used and make one with that. thanks for the heads up
I just checked his, mine is a solid black. His is not. I didnt realize he removed the lines. I will just wait for him to tell me what he did to remove those (I am no dev what so ever) and then I will create a VRTheme with that. VRtheme is pretty simple. Same lines like metamorph/zipthemer but better I think. No app needed.

I looked at his zip. Do you know what other img or file he edited to make the lines removed? If you look at my img, there is no lines but when you use it, there are still lines in the settings. Its solid black though. His is not. Mine also makes all settings for apps and what not that had the gradient no longer have it. It will be solid black.

If you're using AOKP most likely it'll break your SystemUI as PA is CM based.

I wouldn't put the whole .apk from one ROM to the other, just use 7zip to pull the images out of the one you want them from and put em into SystemUI of the new one I believe they're in /system/apps/systemUI.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi. They all start with ic_sysbar. It's pretty easy, bet you could switch em out in less than 5 minutes having never done it before. It takes me about 30 seconds now lol, I do it all the time
in aokp there's a built-in option to change navbar images, just extract the ones you want from the rom you like and manually set them from the phone

Really hope you will keep AOKP and PARANOID theme alive. I do not have any skills doing such a nice job, and whereas I tested a load of theme available on store, none reach your top notch work.
My new Galaxy Nexus is thanking you very much, and let me know how I can thank you for your good job. Loads of Googla Play theme cost at least 1€, but are so bad I prefer keep the stock theme, until I reached GN/NS AOKP rom, and AmoledBlue !

This is a disclaimer: While this has been tested I am not responsible for ANY damage done to your device. Use at your own risk!!
Secondary disclaimer: If you have carnivorous dingleberries then you have bigger problems to worry about - but for any phone related questions feel free to message me on here either privately or in the thread.
This is the bootanimation I use for my sprint lg optimus g and figured I should share it for any other Doctor Who fans out there. Doctor Who and the TARDIS are registered trademarks of the BBC. This animation is not my original work, I simply turned it into a bootanimation. THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP! You have to manually put it into your system/media folder and change permissions(-rw-r--r-- aka 644). Also, you will want to delete your old boot animation and sound(make a backup!) and may need to rename this - if you are running stock ls970 it is already named appropriately(As is the sound, PowerOn_Sprint.ogg). Finally, even after optimizing the jpegs as much as possible, the zip is still a whopping 25mb! Both the bootanimation and sound had to be uploaded to dev host because the zip was too big and xda doesn't recognize .ogg files!? Feel free to use this(and any of my bootanimations) in any way you like. I never ask for donations but if you like/use it, you could always hit that thank button!
EDIT: For the sound you may have to copy it to both system/media and system/media/audio. ALSO - THIS ONLY WORKS ON STOCK OR STOCK BASED, AOSP HAS BOOT SOUNDS DISABLED.

Sick boot ani. Note: I'm running official liquid smooth. I couldn't get sound to work at all. Tried putting it in both spots, changing permissions, even tried renaming the file by taking the sprint off the end. And any combination of the 3, no dice on sound.

From what I now understand, AOSP roms have boot sounds disabled by default or simply don't support them(like cyanogenmod who never plans to support boot sounds). This link I found here may prove helpful. It seems like quite a bit of things need to be modified on a custom rom to enable or allow boot sounds. I have not had the time to try this so as always, make a nandroid before altering anything. As soon as I get the time I will flash liquid and see if I can get this to work(unless you beat me to it). Certain roms like Mahdi have an option in settings to enable boot sounds, but each rom is slightly different. On AOSP it also has to be named "android_audio.mp3", it can't be an .ogg file. We've talked on hangouts so you know my current work schedule - as soon as I have time I will test and try to get this to work on as many roms as possible(I'll do liquid first) and then post detailed instructions per rom in a different guide that I will link to here.
Would I be able to use this on a verizon G3?

I wouldn't recommend it as is, but @KachowPow has it in his LG G3 bootanimation thread, although without sound(I think). But why dont you use my updated one? It's in LG G3 themes and apps and looks incredible on the g3. It's my daily driver boot animation because my phone is doctor who themed, lol.

If you haven't seen it, trust me, it will blow you away when your phone boots.

Thanks for the heads up! Is it an actual Doctor Who theme you created, or just different elements put together? I use Liquid Smooth on my g3 and am using a black and blue theme that almost the same color as the tardis. ,As with the Star Wars stuff I would be in nerd heaven for a complete Doctor Who theme!!!!

No I use my Doctor Who Navbar theme but the rest is patched together. I use galaxy live wallpaper and two different nova icon sets as well as a few made icons like the tardis app drawer.
