Le Eco Responds to why bootloader is locked and the problems they got with phones - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

It is a good thing the company will fix these issues and I told them about why the bootloader is unlocked and how eiu is buggy and a ton of other problems. Just see the screenshot for your self

I heard to allow Carrier Services (ie: VoLTE and WiFi Calling), they were required to lock the BL. It isn't much of an issue since we are able to flash the Chinese variant BL which is unlocked.

Who is the highest level executive that we have contact info for?

Wow now we have clearly information about future updates to come to our Pro 3 and the best, they want to make it look like stock android that is awesome! i can`t wait to see the results of that. i hope they do that for both Phones, LEX720 and the LEX727.
Now we have to wait, who knows when they drop the next Update or maybe direct EUI 6!

To them, this phone is a loss leader as a way to get people into their content business. They may not bother plugging every hole but I can't see them spending any engineering cycles to enable unlocking.

[Q] DRM Problems with unlocked Bootloader

Hello Together
I was thinking of Unlock Bootloader of the H815 EUR Model with the official Unlocktool from LG, but i have some fears about the DRM, so my Question is: have users who used the official Tool to unlock the Bootloader find some problems with DRM?

no problems here
No DRM problems... Deezer and Spotify works perfect.
I would be very interrested to get a definite answer to this from someone who really knows what the unlock removes and what it does to the device. Not just speculation and guesswork. If I knew that the official unlock would not ruin anything I would root my device right away.
What speculation and guesswork?? Mine is rooted.
But if you are that cautious better not to to root at all.

Yeah but do you know where the keys are used? They are not there just for the fun of it. If the keys are there there must be some form of function for them. You saying that camera works, Spotify works etc does not say a lot other than the apps you use work. It might be just some minor thing like Google play rented movies not working but I like to know about it. And nope, I am not overly causious. I want my phone to work like its supposed to in all aspects. And I have rooted/customized etc quite a few phones in my years so I know enough not to rush in to things that might not be so straight forward as it seemed at the time.

I agree with the question. The statement of LG redarding the DRM stuff is a bit vague. If someone has and could provide concrete information on what actually is affected by that, that would be awesome. Especially if the camera may be affected negatively like it was on Sony devices ...
Not trying to be an a** but we are telling you that everything worked just as it did before and you don't like that answer. Remember, you are asking users in an internet forum for answers that can only truly and definitively be answered by the OEM. Seems to me like your only choices are:
1) Ask LG directly and hope you get a straight answer
or
2) Do not unlock your device.
Only DRM stuff I use is Spotify, with no issue(s) whatsoever! Unlocked all droids I ever owned, sold them to friends who dont have a clue about these things, everybody happy, never complaints!
Yep, your point is very valid.
Maybe still two explicit questions to you who have done it already:
1. Any changes on the camera (quality) you recognized? (Like on Sonys models in the past)
2. Do you know if OTA updates still work, when officially unlocked?
Regards

Not seen any difference in the camera before or after, in all modes everything works fine (including RAW capture etc.) if anything slightly better as you can then flash the boosted JPG quality cam mod from the forums here.
In terms of OTA updates my phone hasn't picked any up, but I don't know if the UK is supposed to be on version 10C or not. Either way I managed to update it through the Android Dev section of the forum.
AFAIK most phones lose OTA updates if you unlock bootloader and root, but I may be wrong on that count
Bootloader unlock and no DRM problem.
Spotify, Deezer works perfectly
unlock lg officialy on site
List of Apps that Work after BL Unlock
I've a LG G4 H815 Model BL unlocked
This Apps works so far after the Unlock:
-Google Music All Inclusive
-Netflix
-Camera
-Quality is the same as before Unlock
-Playstore
-Buy Music
-Rent or buy a Movie
Encryption anyone?
Did anyone encrypt their device before or after unlocking with the LG unlock tool? Any Problems there?
Any unlocked + encrypted phones out there?
Furthermore I would be interested how many of the geeks around here encrypt their phones?
For me, these days, I do not own a single device (PC, Notebook, Smartphone whatever) that is NOT encrypted. The more easy you loose the device, the more encryption should be a standard.
What is the reality? And does it work with the unlocked bootloader?

Bootloader Unlock for AT&T SM-G930A S7

As you all might know this by now, snapdragon models of galaxy phones (s7 in my case) come with locked bootloader which makes it almost immposible to get TWRP recovery installed. I contacted the samsung and they send me to att advanced technical team over live chat. After long period of chatting they called me and we spoke on the phone for at least half an hour. The customer agent was nice and we went through many things such as installing ADT and SDK on my pc with all s7 drivers, but then she told me chances of me messing up some setting and bricking the device were high. Technical team told me to visit my local best buy AT&T and that there is high probability they will be able to unlock my bootloader. This upcoming week I will be heading there and asking them to unlock it for me. I told them this phone is my project dummy phone and I take full responsibility for any crashes done to the firmware. Hopefully they will be able to unlock the damn thing. So my question is this. 'Will I be able to use regular methods meant for unlocked s7's to install TWRP and various roms for my boot-unlocked s7 running snapdragon? Or will it make no difference since there isn't any research out there about flashing custom recovery's and roms for 930a. Sorry, I am new to this forum and might have made mistakes along the lines of explaining. Any response would be thankful!
So how'd it go????!!!!!!!!?????!!!

Well, after I visited the specified best buy store they thought something was broken with the phone. After explaining what I needed them to do, they were clueless on how to do it before a technician with enough knowledge told they were unable to do so. They referred me back to the carrier (AT&T) which referred me to manufacturer (SAMSUNG) which referred back to carrier yatti yatti yatta. After finding no luck I just sold the phone for dirt cheap and settled with my new note 8 which doesnt even need root for almost majority of customizations thanks substrantum and various launchers. In conclusion what I learned is AT&T doesn't want its customers to have full control over devices. They like forcing their logos on their phone and fill them with their crap bloatware that nobody uses. For which they get super mad and try to get rid of net neutrality... I'm sorry I could not help anyone; wish yall the best of luck!:good::good:
I had a samsung s8, sm-g930a.
When I rooted that device in 2017 I never saw OEM unlock option.
But when I saw it yesterday oem unlock is visible.
Does any one know what it is ???
And can I unlock my device now???

Questions about bootloader unlocking before I make the purchase.

Hello all, I'm interested in purchasing the RN5 Pro, and I've seen a lot of bootloader unlocking related problems. I would like to flash Lineage OS on it. But, how long could this unlock process take? Could they deny me unlocking forever? I apologise for the ad nauseum, because I know that this question has been circling around quite a bit.
Thanks!
as i know, it takes 15 day to grant permission to unlock bootloader (now it's 2months, im not sure)
Then the unlock process just takes about under 15 mins
dont be worry too much about it, it's really simple and ez
I tried to unlock the phone yesterday and the unlock tool showed 720 hours waiting period, which is 30 days, and I retried today and it was still counting (708 hours or so)
I heard some people getting 1440 hours, but don't worry, once you unlock the bootloader everything becomes available, and by the way, you could like MIUI, it has most of the root functions without rooting (Restricting wifi/data from specific apps for example and many many customizations).
I would say get the phone, as soon as you get it apply for the unlock, and try MIUI until you can get to unlock the device.

Thanks for the info! Appreciated. As far as MiUI goes, I don't dislike the look and feel much, but there are advertisements and spammy notifications everywhere, and that to me is unacceptable. On top of that, I'm a privacy conscious guy, so I don't know the kind of background tracking. So I'll most likely switch to Lineage if I get the chance to.
That really depends if your account has authorizations previously. if you have got authorizations previously for any of device. you can unlock any device without any wait. some times device association can take a little time. only if said device was associated with any other account previously

i have owned multiple xiaomi devices and i was easily able to unlock it without any delay. may be because i activated devices only with the same account is already authorized to unlock.
whatsapp Acts funny on all custom roms / AOSP, that seems like whatsapp has made sure to be this way!
of you wana enjoy AOSP roms, buy A2 6X
you can stimply root it and keep the rom for good!
Hey there! The general bootloader unlocking wait time is 30 or even 60 days since the 1. September. It can be shorter, or there is no wait time at all if you have used a Mi account to unlock other devices before. But it depends on their mysteriously mysterious system. From what I read, it can make a difference if a phone number is associated with the account. But I wouldn't count on it for new accounts. Better expect the full and brutal 30 days unlock period.
As you mentioned privacy, it needs to be said that MIUI - the stock ROM of nearly all Xiaomi devices - is quite talkative and sends back data to their servers. They hide it in their terms of services, except that you are prompted to accept these terms of services once you set up your device. If you don't mind it, it should be okay and you can use your device normally until you can unlock the bootloader. After all, Google is also there in form of their Play Services and watch your activity as well. Buuuut, if you truly want to preserve your privacy, it's best not to use the device normally until you get to unlock your bootloader. Personally that is what I did, but rather because I really need and like to have root access on phones I own. In my humble opinion, the increased bootloader unlock time is there to force users to use MIUI. Previously normal times were 3, 7 and 14 days. In conjunction with the ads they want to force onto their users, and the data they collect, this just makes sense if you ask me. Despite this, and to mention positive points again, their phones are still really great value for the money. The Redmi Note 5 has excellent battery life, good mid-range phone performance, takes nice pictures as well and is basically just a pleasant device. Though, if you plan to use LineageOS, you will need to install one of the Mi A2 camera or Google Camera ports if you want to use LineageOS without having to sacrifice camera quality. Actually, with the Google Camera port the pictures of this device get even prettier than they normally look like with the MIUI camera! Might be a matter of taste after all, but I tested it myself and can just confirm what others said about the awesome picture quality.

S9 help needed

So, this is a friend's phone...
I know, whenever I hear someone say that I think to myself "sure buddy". But seriously, it's true, this is not my phone but I have taken on the task of repairing it. My personal phone is actually a Pixel 2 XL, which I chose so I would never have to deal with a phone that had a locked bootloader or a strict root policy; forcing me to scour through forums for solutions to problems that are created by the cell phone manufacturers and carriers.
Moving along, my friend's phone is a Tmobile Galaxy S9 (g960usqs6csgb) (SM-G960U)
I believe it has the Snapdragon CPU (qualcomm and qual was littered all over the bootloader logs) but I don't know what Android version it's on. Because I can't get past the initial setup screens... because, you guessed it, the device was factory reset and now it's locked because he doesn't have the previous owner's google account credentials and it won't allow further progress. A message is displayed at the wifi setup screen stating as much, and at this point the unit is entirely useless.
When I first saw him with the phone in hand, wrestling to get it to work, I proclaimed "I can fix it!! Not to worry!! After all, I used to root and ROM and ADB with the best of 'em !! Going back to the early days of android, cracking open the incredible, galaxy nexus, HTC 9, nexus 5, note 5, etc etc. My Pixel 2 XL was the first phone I didn't root, simply because it already had all the features I wanted, right out of the box! But this phone wasn't cooperating like the old devices. Apparently the carriers and manufacturers have incorporated new ways to deter nefarious activities and squeeze out every bit of money from us hapless technology addicts.
I digress. Is there any way to get past this? I've already downloaded Odin 3 and I believe I'm hot on the trail of this model's firmware:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s9/firmware/SM-G960U/TMB/download/G960USQS6CSGB/283293/
But is this even possible? Will rooting and flashing a new ROM remove the unauthorized factory reset lockdown? Will the device even let me get that far? I don't know anything about rooting the S9 but it's all here in the forums, I just wanted to know if there's anything I should be aware of in advance. I'm not too concerned with bootlooping/bricking or losing google pay or something similar because it's basically a paperweight already. But if there's a way to do this properly, I certainly don't want to mess it up irreparably by charging headlong into the fire when I might patiently tiptoe and emerge unscathed instead. I appreciate any help you might offer.
Thanks!!
Yikes, not a single reply.
No one's gonna touch this one, a?
At least I got a like. Thank you to the brave individual willing to sit back and watch the trainwreck go its course.
TLDR: Can I get past the Google lockout on a TMobile s9? Is it possible to unlock, root, and flash a ROM on an otherwise locked s9?

Firmware advice - SM-N975U - Note 10+

Hi All,
Been a while on here - please be gentle!
I have spent the last 6 hours looking into updating my firmware from Android 10!
I have done this on previous phones, but my current phone is proving a little more difficult. For the life of me, I cannot find the correct ROM to flash. Whenever I come to something I think I have found I seem to have another issue.
I've tried using various tools (Bitfrost) but got errors.
I'm in the UK, and as far as I can tell, my phone is “XAA”, “USA unbranded (default)”. I'm not bothered about changing the region code (unless it can be done easily).
Details::
SW ver.: SAOMC_SM-N975U_OYN_XAA_PP_0001
XAA/XAA/ATT
I would really appreciate some help from you guys who are way more informed and cleverer than me!
Thanks guys and gals!
Simon
EDIT: I have found a bit more informstion - I think I would be ok using SM-N975U1 - is this correct?
That's the umlocked Snapdragon variant...
I have two N10+'s; N975U/Pie, N975U1/Android 10. I would stay on Android 10 unless you want cpu cycle sucking scoped storage in all its glory.
Personally I prefer Pie to 10, better functionality and usability. With 11 you lose even more and 12 is fubar... in my opinion.
The best way to trash a stock N10+ is to mess with its firmware.
Rule #1 if a OS is fulfilling its mission, let it be!
Upgrades/updates can and do break things.

Thanks for that info ... I actually have no beef with A10 other than one issue which I thought maybe a firmware issue.
My NFC works (I can transfer files between phones) however, I cannot use Google Pay, or Samsung Pay. I have read somewhere that this was a firmware issue, hence my desire to update.
I have tried literally everything to get it working (cleared cache, re-booted). NFC Tools confirms it works, but it just does nothing at the checkout.
If I can fix this issue, I'll be happier!

You're welcome. It may be doing that because big sister Google thinks you need to upgrade to be secure. May have to do with the region you're using it in. I don't know. I never use those features and don't want them on the phone. Don't want anything to back door in using that route.
Depends how hell bent you are on having those features. You could easily lose more than you gain by upgrading, worse it may not resolve the issue. The N10+ is a valuable and reliable work horse that will run for years... just as it is. If it's running well otherwise I would try to find the root cause of this issue or simply use other workarounds rather than the shotgun approach.
Yeah, I was wondering about being in the UK with a phone registered in the US. But NFC doesn't read my credit card either. Would have thought that would be an option.
I'm not necessarily a huge NFC user, but the other day I forgot my wallet at the petrol station after filling my car. If I'd have had my NFC working, I'd have been able to fire it up and avoid the embarrassment!
Anyway, thanks for your help!
Be glad you have the Snapdragon variant. They are very reliable and run well stock when optimized. If you do upgrade to 11 a rollback to 10 isn't possible if you upgrade the boot loader.
There's always at least a small risk when flashing firmware which can trash the device. The only time I would flash a N10+ is if the rom was corrupted which barring a hardware failure is a very rare SUE, single upset event.
I never tried mine to see if Pay works nor have I ever set a screen lock. The fingerprint scanner could be dead for all I know.
The flip side to that is never being locked out* of my own device, no data lose, and double tap on/off. The device is glued to me as physical security is the only real security. I realize this may seem extreme to some, but it works well in the real world.
*a SEU or partial hardware can lock you out of your device. Had no lock been set, no lockout would have occurred. Got locked out of a PC bios like that. The password -was- correct
That caused a mountain of trouble...
Thank you my friend. Wise words indeed and duly noted...
