Oos animations port request - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello XDA community,
Is there anyone here who could port the oos animations to aosp/caf based roms as a flashable framework mod or a substratum theme since substratum support custom animations. I would do it for myself but I dont know how.
I would even be happy if someone eventually has a explanation/guide how to do it then I can try it for myself.
Thanks
Best Regard CroW_D

The animations are located in res/anims within framework-res.apk
To extract them from OOS you need to grab framework-res.apk from OxygenOS (it's in system/framework). I haven't done any mods for a while now, but replacing the anim files inside the framework-res.apk of your rom with the ones from oxygen os should work. I'd do a backup before trying this. I used to be quite nitty so what I used to do was decompile both framework-res.apk with apktool, replace the anim files after decompiling, then recompile your framework-res.apk
If you have the framework-res.apk from your rom i don't mind doing a test zip for you to try

No systemui crashes for me. Just replaced the anim folder from oos with the current one you have on the custom ROM but make sure you have to redone this every time you flash an update of the custom rom. Meiby you picked always the old framework res apk. And replaced it can causes the issue.

Did this work. Can anyone share the file.

What build are you using?
You gotta be careful with what build you are using and what you are changing.
Don't boot animations usually go into /system/media?
1.6 use shine and mask logos
2.x use Boot animations
They are different so...yeah...be careful.

This is true, but! Also their are two Apk's that always give problems when themed (Wrong). MetaMorph doesn't replace files that don't exist, meaning, if the two different roms have two different locations for boot files example: System/media or framework-res.apk/assets/images/ and neither are present. It will skip over both and not copy. So conclusions state that maybe one or more of the images are not accepted by the Android System.
These two apk's, my friends, are the framework-res.apk and the Launcher.apk...
Many of failed themes from the past proves this theory accurate, ask any old skool themer...
Worse case scenario, check the pictures with the (.9.png) extentions.
wow sorry i really lost rack of this thread sorry
i know specifically that the problem is cause by framework.apk and when i said boot animations i meant mask and shine.
p.s also im using latest build available in market

What Rom are you using? Cyan?
Who's MetaMorph theme are you using? Enoch?
Have you tried installing all of themes EXCEPT framework-res.apk to see if you still have the forecloses, or one by one to see which ones are causing the forecloses?
Some Homework:
If you want to test framework, try to remove all the foldes from the theme (make backups first). Add 1 folder back to theme, then run the MetaMorph cycle. Leave the png folders for last. When you reach a folder containing png's, add 3 png's at a time to each MetaMorph cycle. So now you narrow down the culprit(s) faster.
Example:
I am trying to MetaMorph my Zelda theme. My framework-res folder change, for some reason shuts down my Market on TheOfficial TMO rom. I can download, but when its about to install the apk it forecloses. But it works accurately on TheOfficial AOSP. (???) So, I am thinking that maybe it the way some roms are built.
im using cyan 4.2.15.1 with ebi1 port and im trying to metamorph the mask and shine at startup that writes to framework-res.apk

??? Its only boot images??? Sorry, I did not know it was only boot images. Are the png's the proper size?
Would you be willing to flash my Zelda boot screen as a test to see if it is the theme. It might be the rom?
Here it is if you want to try:
i will flash yours and tell u the results and im currently on cyan 4.2.15.1 with bcrook's ebi1 port and enoch installed (via flashable zip)
edit: i cant even metamorph yours it says there isnt a valid thm file found? what does that mean?
edit2: nvm i figured it out u had an extra directory in the zip but i fixed
btw these themes do they have to be signed in a special way somehow like the zips or no
ps ur boot looks really nice
edit3 : still getting a million force closs after unlock so i wiped and restored

[Q] The secret of editing framework-res.apk

Hello everyone!
I have tried and tried to customize framework-res.apk, and what a nightmare!! I made a script that works all fine when using Defrost 2.9a and 2.5, but if i try Cyanogenmod or Defrost 3.0, i get force close. When I modify both xml and images.
What am I doing wrong?

Sure
If u change the code it has to be Recompiled ;-)

Yeah, so I do
But i get force close in cyanogen and DF 3.0 - but the Circle Mod online framework modifier can do it, without force close.
Are you sure its not semi-edit the files? I think there are just various versions of the framework.

So i'm trying to edit the status bar background.png file. I've made a copy of the framework, changed it to zip, replaced file, changed back to apk. But the systems folder is read only. how do i go about changing it to 'write' so I can replace the frameworks???
Also, if my background is transparent, do i also need to change something in the xml if I want the new background to be a solid color

[Q] THEMES

Hello everyone.I would like to ask something and i hope someone will answer.
I'm fan of some themes. But in one theme i like that and in the other i like that.
Is there a way to make a mix of them and how?
Thanks in advance!!!
Yes, it is possible.

Thanks a lot.Now i need a lot of study to accomplise that!!!
you can easily change the png files in the framework-res.apk and the twframework-res.apk of any theme's zip.just take any theme as a base and change the pngs within opening the theme and then the apks by winrar or something like it.the pngs are stored in the drawable-hdpi and/or drawable-hdpi-v4 folders.
Whenever I try to change framework res, and replace the old edited frameworkres I get bootloops. After that I have to flash a stock rom with odin and then flash my cooked rom. Even if I push the original framework res.apk, that doesn't solve the problem. No issue with twframework res.apk. I can edit twframework res .APK and works fine.
Please help.
try using 7zip instead, its better at replacing files

reflashing a whole rom shouldn't be necessary
first of all, you should make a backup of your system, just in case
and you should always keep a working theme on your phone so that if you get stuck at boot, you just boot into CWM and flash the working one and everything should be fine again
and for your basic problem of editing themes, have a look at R64s guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10383323&postcount=577
explains all the basic stuff and works great for me

[Bugfix][Gingerbread-JV*] Oversized/Unaligned browser combobox in themes.

Hi! I noticed this bug in ock's theme originally and then when I was trying to make my own theme banged heads with it myself.
The issue is that in the browser the combobox button seems to spill over into the text and generally is stretched poorly.
Like this:
I tried at first simply creating a .9.png version and removing the originals and replacing with the .9s. This made the bar vanish completely.
Eventually I got it working with a bit of a work-around, by compiling the .apk twice and extracting the images.
Having to explain that process recently lead me to the real answer though.
combobox_disabled.png and combobox_nohighlight.png ARE .9.pngs even though they do not have the .9.png extension.
apkmanager won't decompile (or compile) them as .9's because they don't have the right extension (and the right extension 'breaks' the theme).
Attatched are my .9.png versions of both images. I added the guidelines from scratch, but they seem to be correct. If your theme has this issue and you need to fix it, just drop the 'compiled' versions into your res/drawable-hdpi and apk-manager should happily compile it and the issue should be resolved.
tried both versions to just replace the ones in my framework-res.apk (didn't decompile the file but just replaced the files) and both didn't solve the problem.

That -may- not work. That was one of the first things I tried to do - replace with .pngs straight from stock without a decompile/recompile of the whole apk.
The format of the zip file might be slightly ambiguous.
9s - are the raw pngs with draw9patch guidelines.
compiled - are the compiled draw9patch pngs. If you use a draw9patch compiler on the files in the 9s directory you get these.
Even though the pngs are compiled you still need to go through the decompile/recompile procedure with apk manager. (using the 'compiled' pngs).
sargorn, I've tried several times to decompile and recompile the framework with no luck. The new framework is ok, except this damn combo box rendering.
I personally gave up trying :|.
Toss me the framework and I'll give it a shot.

Hi,
I tried decompiling and then recompiling your framework and it does not recompile.
zzzzz_tw_quickcontact_slider_btn_pressed.9.png and zzzzz_tw_quickcontact_slider_btn_selected.9.png were both 0 bytes.
If you've just been replacing images this probably won't work
Here it is decompiled and recompiled with stock copies of those two files and the combo box 'fix'.
The filesize seems very 'off' so I'm not sure if it'll work or not.

I've just de/recompiled JVH's framework-res and the combobox fix still seems to work. (Although maybe it's not needed in JVH, didn't test it!).
I tried it again with JVH and failed again. What I did:
1. decompile framework-res.apk with apkmanager
(2. make some of my changes to some xml files)
3. place the 2 files from compiled in drawable-hdpi-v4
4. recompile the apk
Everything but the comboboxes works as expected.
I'm attaching the apk, maybe you could have a look at it. If you can make it work please tell me what I did wrong. Many thx

As im here looking for the fix for my dhd I thought I might be able to help
Looking at your framework I can clearly see that those images in there are not fixed.
Try simply dragging and dropping the fixed pngs straight into your framework

When locking the phone, the screen just simply blackens. What i prefer is the old-tv-like transition that is used in the Galaxy Nexus. Does anyone knows how to make it happen?

Lots of errors using this method!
Tried even the crt.zip with CWM but nothing happens.
Well, the only errors I get was force close, after I rebooted my phone, it works normally and the CRT animation is applied.
Did you follow the steps exactly? Do not move the recompiled apk, use the modified original apk.

Dude,
I have attached the screenshot regarding my problems with the framework-re.apk.
Note :
-There's ONLY "build" folder but no "dist" folder.
Ahh, I see, the problem is that your current framework-res.apk isn't original anymore, that error in the "2.jpg" tells everything, the png files replaced by the theme maker isn't 9-patched (what is 9-patch? here, and here )
Basically, 9-patch allows the image to be stretched by redrawing some parts of the image. if the image isn't 9-patched, it will still displayed correctly on your Phone, but when recompiling the apk files, you'll encounter problems.
I tried decompiling and recompiling the ported ICS theme in the Theme section, all went well, but when I tried to insert a non-9patched png files to the apk, the error shows up.
Thus, in order to enable CRT animations for your phone, the png files on the "2.jpg" screenshot must be 9-patched :
- menu_background.9.png
- status_bar_header_background.9.png
and so on
Hope this helps,
Reidzeibel

Yeah, if you want to do decompiling and recompiling your apk files (and modify the png files), you should start learning to draw the 9-patches, it'll be a little complicated though
Hope this helps ,
