Flashtool freezes when creating bundle (ftf) - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else had the same problem? Window just freezes and nothing happens. Is there any other way to get official firmware in .ftf format?

I'm doing something wrong or what?
Is there any way to install dstrikerz1's rom without downgrading?

You need only recovery to flash Dstriker, no need to downgraded. Root with Kingroot, flash dual recover by nut, then flash rom...

Problem is I really want to avoid kingroot. I installed it once and then had to re-flash system again because it couldn't be uninstalled. And I don't trust Chinese proprietary software.

If you're wanting to flash Dstriker, then you're going to reflash system anyway, just make sure to check box for 'system' when wiping in recovery...
If you really want to downgrade and root, try a newer version of Flashtool. New versions create the whole ftf just by downloading. All you have to do is wait until it's done, and click flash.

I'm not a Flashtool expert, but I've flashed roms at least a dozen times, and I don't even see that screen anymore. I remember in older versions you used to have to download and then create an ftf, bit about a year ago there was an update where FT and Xperifirm were able to work together, and the flashable ftf was created automatically. Ever since then, I just click on the firmware I want in Xperifirm, and it downloads, and prepares the file, and I just click 'flash' and connect the phone and it's done.

Maybe its in the latest update. The problem is I get an error when trying to launch x10flasher.jar. I have no idea what could have caused this problem. I got freshly installed java so everything should be fine.
http://imgur.com/a/0oOwz

1. Download Flashtool 0.9.23.1 and install it
2. Download x10flasher.jar from the same page
3. Open folder where you just installed Flashtool, and simply paste x10flasher.jar
4. Move and replace - YES
that's how you upgrade to 0.9.23.2
As for making ftf files:
1. when you have Flashtool, open XperiFirm from there, as picture attached
2. when firmware of your choosing finished downloading close XperiFirm windows (red markers in attached pic) but dont close little window in Flashtool (green "circle" in attached pic)
3. after few seconds Flashtool starts creating FTF version of the firmware you downloaded via XperiFirm
4. when progress bar finishes you have your firmware avaible to flash via "lighting icon" in flashtool

[GUIDE FOR NOOBS] How to update XPERIA S to Android 4.1.2 JELLY BEAN | STEP by STEP

This question will be posted a dozen times across several threads, thus, I decided to write a step-by-step, fool proof, noob-oriented simple guide; if somebody asks "how to", please feel free to point him/her to this thread to avoid spamming the main discussion / development threads
If you have some experience and this is not your first time flashing go to POST 2 for a quick guide and some tips, without explanations and notes
STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
How to update the Sony Xperia S
to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
NOTICE 1: This guide will update your Xperia S from ANY previous version to OFFICIAL SONY JELLY BEAN ANDROID 4.1.2 (version 6.2.B.0.200, released May 30th 2013)
NOTICE 2: This guide is for WINDOWS PC USERS, if you have a Mac I can't help you, but the process is very similar
NOTICE 3: This update has nothing to do with SIM unlock, bootloader lock/unlock, root, etc. It doesn't matter if your phone is rooted or not, bootloader unlocked or not because it's the official firmware update
NOTICE 4: The internal SD card contents will NOT be deleted but everything else inside your phone will be reseted to factory defaults because this is a major update, so do a backup if you want to keep call logs, SMS etc. I only backup my SMS and Whatsapp messages, google backs up everything else because I have the backup option activated in settings
NOTICE 5: Your phone needs to be at least at 50% BATTERY CHARGE before updating ("flashing") the firmware. I recommend a full charge, just in case something happens and you need to do it again
Click to collapse
STEP 1:
Download the Flashtool
You will find the installers here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Go to the "installation" tab, download Flashtool installer v0.9.11.0 and run it
You will have a new folder on your PC: c:\Flashtool
STEP 2:
Download the Jelly Bean firmware update
You will find a link to download the official firmware update here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302419, download it, say "thanks" to Yakandu, and come back here
SOME NOTICES (I know you are gonna ask):
- That firmware is the plain Sony Generic firmware and works fine for ANY region and has ALL the languages and keyboards included
- The linked firmware is already prepared to be flashed via Flashtool in .FTF format. If you download the firmware from another source it may be compressed with RAR or ZIP ("zipped") and you may need to EXTRACT the .FTF file with WinRAR or ZIP or 7ZIP. if you don't have WinRAR download it from here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
STEP 3:
Let's update the phone!
- Copy the firmware FTF file to c:\Flashtool\Firmwares
- Go to c:\Flashtool\Drivers and run "Flashtool-drivers.exe" to install the proper drivers for Xperia S
- After installing the USB drivers reboot your PC
- Go to c:\Flashtool and run "FlashTool" (run "FlashTool64" if you have Windows 64 bits)
- Click the flash button (yes: the thunder icon up left)
- Select "Flahsmode" and click "OK"
- Select the "LT26 6.2.B.0.200" FTF firmware and click "OK", DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE
(TIP: If your Flashtool version doesn't have the "OK" button then just double-click the FTF)
- Flashtool will prepare the files for flashing, just be patient
- A Window will pop up asking you to connect the phone in "Flashmode" showing instructions for an old Xperia phone: ignore it, here is how the Xperia S enters "Flashmode":
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN key
- Keep it pressed, connect the USB cable to your PC
- Release the Volume Down key when phone's GREEN LED lights up
- Flashtool will start flashing automatically, let it finish to 100%, it takes some minutes
- Disconnect the USB cable when Flashtool reaches 100% and indicates flashing has finished giving some extra info about activating debugging mode etc (don't care, that's optional)
- Turn on your phone (press and hold the Power button until it vibrates or screen turns on)
- The first boot takes some minutes, don't worry let your phone prepare your Jelly Beans for you
- Have fun !! :highfive:
PS1: PLEASE REMEMBER TO SAY "THANKS" to Yakandu (for the FTF firmware) and Androxyde (for the Flashtool)
PS2: And the usual disclaimer, of course: Follow the steps and be careful, I am not responsible if you brick your phone, burn your house, blow your PC or miss the rapture because you followed this guide; I am just sharing what I did to update my own phone  and it worked for me

I have the latest version of flashtool (v 0.9.10.1). I am successfully able to flash any ICS ftf through it. But when i try to flash the .200 Jb firmware, I get an error in the flashtool (installation aborted) and it is asking for drivers. I guess its because the flashtool includes drives for ICS only?

Drivers are for the PC, not the phone, it doesn't matter which android version you have on your phone.
My advice would be:
- Uninstall Flashtool
- Delete the flashtool folder
- Reinstall flashtool (make sure you really have the latest version)
- Try again
If you still can't flash, try Flashtool Beta6 and please report back
You can find Flashtool Beta6 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162907
how about the option of wipe or don't wipe? ha've unchecked those options and no problem at all, just a litle laggy on the main screen
How do you root this JB version? I really want to root but have no idea how
Hi! I have installed this update and everything works accept for Play Store (Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped).
I did clean cash, rebooted few times, flashed different releases of JB but still can not get in Play Store.
What About Root?
any method to root it or we will have to wait?

Mine won't do it. When it asks for the flash mode, I press the volume down and power button, the green led lights up but the program won't recognize it, it keeps the window open.

Why the power button? It's not required. Read the guide again, carefuly.
yeah, I actually don't know where I got it from, but I tried with the volume button alone and it doesn't recognize either =/
Managed to do it, instead of selecting xperia S, I cancelled that window, it then easily recognized my flash mode and installed it
FUNNY
Cosa chistosa OP pensé que tendría JB con PCC de manera oficial, pero tendré que pasar por el método otra vez! jaja
Bueno, veremos si lo instala.
Gracias por tu tiempo y esfuerzo:laugh:
thank you

Please don't create a new thread.. Search first and then read.. Read and read more..
The link provided for Xperia-S_Relock_bootloader.ftf is dead. If someone has the file and would be so kind as to mirror it it would be awesome. I would have posted on the original thread, but it's in the developer section and I am not allowed to post there. I have tried google search to find an alternative and I have come across one file with the same name, I flashed it with Flashtool and now my Xperia S won't boot, I can get into flashmode and fastboot but that's it.

try to re download ftf file again or download it from another source i had the same problem i downloaded 2 ftf files from the link that you mentioned but my flashtools didint recognised my ftf too until i tried another source
https://www.iranmobile.org/xperia-e6833/
this is where i could get the right ftf which my flashtools recognised i dont know what is your model exactly and the site is persian sorry for that but the blue icon means download
My model is E6853, is there another source? I need an italian firmware, but im sure that my flashtool wont recognize it...
Xperifirm downloads the firmware files as RAW files.
Flash tool compiles the files into a FTF
Easy steps
1 } Use Xperifirm to download the firmware you need. (Remember the download location you'll need it)
2 } locate the finished firmware folder and check for the file "fwinfo.xml" and Delete it ( this will cause the FTF creation to fail every time)
3 } Open Flashtool and select in the top menu "tools" > "bundles" > "Create"
4} in the first box click and navigate to your Firmware files
5} in Device - select your model of phone
6} Branding - can be anything but it's best to use the description of the download you used (i.e customized CE1)
7} Version - use the same version string as your download
8} in the Folder List window select all files *EXCEPT* any Files with the .TA extension and move them across to the Firmware content window
9} Click the Create button.

Hi
Thanks for the tip have the same issue.
If I flash without wiping will it be like I'm just updating my device. I'm currently running 7.0 *.378 and to update to *.33, received OTA update notification and want update but it fails to install because I'm rooted and unlocked I believe.
Just update your flashtool to the latest version by replacing the corresponding jar file found on the official website will do

Flashtool showing "No partition delivery included" when flashing. What to do?
Hi,
A while back I unlocked my XA2, thus disabling OTAs. I have discovered that there's a new firmware for my phone and I have downloaded the firmware using Xperifirm. After downloading the firmare, I created a bundle using Flashtool. So far, so good. However, I'm reluctant to flash my device because Flashtool displays the following message:
View attachment 4692407
What should I do? I have not found a FTF-download for the newest firmware for my device.
Ok, I figured this one out by myself. I took the following steps:
1. Downloaded Xperifirm (downloaded from XDA) and FlashTool
2. Set up Xperifirm to not download OTAs (though I'm uncertain that this i necessary)
3. Found my device and downloaded the firmware from Xperifirm
3a. If Xperifim has problems unpacking the files, just cd to the download directory and unzip each FILE_* into *.sin-files
3b. After extracting the FILE_*s, you should create a boot-subdirectory and extract boot.zip to that directory.
4. Open FlashTool and create a bundle.
4a. To create the bundle, you need to point to the directory where all sin-files are located.
4b. When setting the version, make sure the version starts with 50.1.. This is important, if not the FlashTool cannot find the necessary setup-script.
4c. FlashTool will ask if you would like to include a device specific script. Click yes.
5. When the bundle is created, flash it.
5a. If FlashTool asks "No partition delivery included. [snip] Do you want to continue?", click yes.
5b. If FlashTool asks to use the device specific script. Click yes.
5c. If FlashTook asks "The following files is not in FSC script: [snip]. Do you want to continue?", click yes.
6. Do as flashtool says, power down and unplug the device, hold voulme down and plug the USB cable to the phone.
6a. Wait for FlashTool to do its job and finish flashing.
7. Reboot the phone.
8. (optional) Boot recovery and root
8a. Boot into recovery (adb reboot bootloader AND fastboot boot twrp-recovery.img)
8b. Install Magisk if needed
If these steps are successfully applied, you should have a updated Android version on your phone
