Have you tried acessing in a computer?
Also... you may have wiped everything before flashing RR.

I know that the Nameless TWRP is a little bit buggy- sometimes you have to reboot to recovery multiple times before your storage shows up. Keep rebooting to the recovery until you can see your internal SD card- that's what I do.
If you aren't using TWRP by Nameless... I have no idea what to do.

n00b here, needing help with first custom ROM install

Hi everyone,
I'm a n00bie to custom ROM's but have the itch to get moving on one.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 n7100 (international model).
It is currently running stock android 4.4.2 but I am sick of the Samsung bloatware and want to get it similar to a nexus experience.
I have been reading on different ROM's and like the sound of BlissPOP, Resurrection Remix & of course Cynaogenmod.
So far I have done the following:
1) rooted the stock ROM
2) Installed TWRP 3.0.0-0
3) removed apps and data (to make backup smaller)
4) performed a ROM backup using TWRP
I am wondering if I get some help with the next steps as I have read slightly varying steps.
I think I have my mind set on flashing resurrection remix android 5.1.1, given it has been out since late last year; but have also looked at resurrection remix android 6.0.1 & blissPOP android 6.0.1 ROMS.
I have the ROM + Gapps downloaded and on my ext SD card.
The steps that I am familiar with is:
1) reboot into recovery - TWRP
2) do factory reset/wipe data
3) wipe cache
4) wipe dalvik cache
5) choose ROM zip to install
6) choose Gapps zip and install
However the new TWRP 3.0.0-0 is slightly different.
So I guess my questions are:
1) TWRP 3.0.0-0 has one quick option which does everything. Is this ok to do OR should I go into advanced and select each separately and wipe?
2) Should I have the ROM & Gapps on my ext SD Card or the internal SD card? If on the internal SD card, will this not get wiped with the factory reset/wipe data?
3) Do I removed SD card before first power up after installed?
Thanks for any help. I'm really looking forward to giving my phone and 'update' and seeing better performance.
Just want to make sure that I am doing everything correctly and not missing anything to give myself the best chance of success.
This is my primary phone so don't want anything to go wrong.
Thanks again and look forward to replies and any suggestions you may have.
cheers

1. Full wipe is what you need
2. You can copy files after wipe to internal, just mount it
3. Do not remove sd card
Before that make EFS backup
Hi Yaro,
1) Full wipe: is this done from within TWRP?
2) TWRP 3 appears to already work with ext SD. So you say copy from ext SD to phone/int SD card? So I should be able to do this from within TWRP?
I have done a separate EFS backup already
I'm reading good things about RR Android 6.0.1 ROM. Is there any difference in installing that to say RR 5.1.1?

1. Yes, in twrp you have option to wipe everything to make a clean install, or you can select everything and wipe it - i.e. internal, cache, dalvik...
2. You can connect your phone after wipe, then copy rom and gapps from pc or just go with external sd.
Do not worry you already did the hardest part.
I was using rr 5.1.1, very good rom, but you have to test dor yourself. Now I'm sticking with cm13 build 9, just pure rom, fast, nice, smooth.
You seems good to go with custom roms, give it a try
Hi Yarro,
sorry to be a pain.
In TWRP I have the following:
- on main screen, select 'WIPE'
- shows this screen will do a 'factory reset' which wipes data, cache and dalvik (not including internal storage)
- there is also a 'FORMAT DATA' button and 'ADVANCED WIPE' button
- under 'ADVANCED WIPE' there is selectable options:
- Davik/ART Cache
- Cache
- System
- Data
- Internal Storage
- Micro SDCard
- USB OTG
Select what is wanted and then use slider to wipe
So, should I....
(1) perform the factory reset which wipes data, cache and dalvik (not including internal storage) in one step?
(2) then install fro ext sd card and choose the rr 5.1.1, wait for completion
(3) then install from ext sd card and choose gapps
- Also is there need to confirm MD5 of the ROM before installing?
Cheers
Hi Yaro,
So I have given it a try.
- Booted into TWRP 3.0.0-0
- Performed factory reset (which does cache, data, dalvik)
- attempted install but got error 7
- phone still boot to factory rom
- I copied blisspop android 6 rom to sd card
- again attempted install but got same error 7
I read somewhere that someone had the same issue and they changed recovery to CWM and then they could install ROMs
I am currently restoring my phone using the backup I did prior.
I will then change recovery to CWM, take a new a new backup and then give it another go
I am having trouble getting CWM recovery installed.
I originally installed CWM via ROM Manager.
I then tried to change to TWRP via ROM Manager but although it said it was installed, CWM was actually installed.
I got TWRP installed by using TWRP Manager ( also installed Busy Box).
I am now trying to use ROM Manager to install CWM again but although it says it has installed it TWRP is still on.
I have now used TWRP manager to backdate/install version 2.8.7.0 which has worked.
Unsure whether to try this earlier version of TWRP or get CWM installed.
Can anyone help with getting CWM installed and why ROM Manager is doing what it says it is?

U are coming from stock rom and u need to format preload etc which TWRP can't format. Go to philz recovery thread somewhere at last posts a member had post a link for a modified version of recovery 6.58 something. Download this zip, install it with TWRP and reboot at recovery again. Now with philz recovery format: preload, system, cache, dalvik and data and after install rom and gapps, wipe cache and dalvik and reboot to system. Prefer latest RR 5.1.1 from varund's thread and don't use earlier version of philz recovery because it can't install latest gapps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=61703745
RR needs sometime for first boot if it does more than 5 minutes to boot means that is in bootloop push the power button some seconds until the phone to reboot and the second time will boot ok
Hi Porto,
Thanks for the advice.
I have Philz recovery installed.
I can see the format options under custom format options.
I found how to perform a backup to ext sd card.
Backup was done on data, system, boot partitions. I will do a separate backup of efs.
Do you recommend any other partition backups?
You mention RR 5.1.1, do you see any issues with flashing RR 6.0.1?
Cheers
thanks

[SOLVED] Help! "encryption unsuccessful" message!

I was running oos based nougat custom rom with blu spark recovery. Then flashed official ob1, didnt like it, wiped cache/data/system and reinstalled my old oos nougat rom (audax 4.7.6). Now i get the above mentioned message..
Things i tried:
- addionally wipe internal storage and media (installed rom via adb sideload then)
- reformat system/cache/date with ext4
I googled the error and for most people (threads werent particularly concerning the op5t however) it seems that just wiping data and reinstalling the rom did the trick. Not for me though..
What can i do now?
Solution: reformating the data partition with ext4 is not enough. I had to format to FAT and right after that again to ext4, reboot to system and boom, it worked!
PS: i wonder what data is on the internal storage partition that i deleted? I didnt have any data on the phone, i just wonder.. It isnt somehow crucial to the phone?!
I think the decryption key is somehow embedded into the internal storage as wiping /data does not delete the PIN/pattern. Might be a hidden partition or something similar that is not wiped when wiping /data as long as it is ext4.
Your data is gone. It failed to completely encrypt and now there's nothing that can be done. Format /data as ext4 and let it try encrypting again
I have the same problem exactly. Can you explain in steps you have installed then format or how?

I had the exact same problem. But it is an easy fix but does require wiping your internal storage.
So the save way of doing this would be:
1. Backup all your data by going to TWRP or your ROM if that still works. Plug in an USB cable and use MTP or the adb pull command to backup your data
2. Reflash OB1 with no root (like Magisk of SuperSU) if you have TWRP. This will cause you to have the stock recovery again. I also recommend to do a clean flash (Wiping system and data before flashing the rom).
3. Download the rollback build from Oneplus [HERE] and copy this to the internal storage.
4. Boot into the stock recovery flash the rollback build. THIS STEP WILL WIPE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE.
5. Now you have OxygenOS 4.7.5. Download OxygenOS 4.7.6 Incremental Update [HERE]
6. Go back to the Stock recovery and flash the incremental 4.7.6 zip.
7. You have the latest version now. So boot to fastboot reflash TWRP and flash SuperSU or Magisk in TWRP to regain root
Guys I did a fail, i had OB3 installed, and I wanted to try RR so I wiped system and when I tried to install I have seen error 7 saying its for dumpling not for oenplus5t.
So I restored.... But instead restoring OB3 I have restored stock Nougat rom -.- I have even stock recovery now, what is the best way to fix it?
Can i change to FAT and stay and dont go back to ex4 again?
Hi i don't know if u r reading this but if you are please help me cause I'm so lost and confused over this since yesterday...
so 2 days ago my phone started lagging and hanging and freezing until i realized i have got this issue with data encryption
i have a rooted sony z2 with TWRP Custom recovery
first i didn't know it was with data encryption failure so i literally factory reset and installed all my apps and data again and again!!! after every time my phone started to lag !!
after one whole day of trying everything i finally realized its actually with the data encryption and i should change my ex4 to something else... so here again i wiped the phone and changed to ex3 and installed and all my data and apps all over again
but after a couple hours...same problem again.....
im literally so tired of not knowing what to do ! my head hurts so much due this ugh....
i havent changed to FAT from ex3 so im wondering if it will finally solve my problem permanently if i change to FAT ??
And if it did can i just keep it on FAT forever ?
Please guide me thanks ...!

Finally. Thank you so much!

Guys Please help. Unable To Mount... error. Tried everythng. Video given.

I have watched a lot of tutorials but nothing is working please someone help
I made a video of the problem and what I tried. Can anyone understand what happened
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaN-y-Worlg
Update: In Data i Changed the file system and went back to original. Didn't work.
I even wiped system. But i guess the only problem is to fix the "data". Since it shows 0 Mb size. But i can't find any way or guide. The ones i did find are too advanced and use cmd commands and toolkits which i don't think an inexperienced user like me should be following.
Some background information: i attempted to install Open gApps and enable Camera2 API. I Entered "read only" mode.
The adb shell commands for enabling it wasn't working (some "proprietary" something shown )
So I tried another method. I downloaded the latest Magisk and flashed it. Then i tried gApps. I don't remember when i started to think what went wrong but yeah..
I found this and I think it may be related.
But I don't understand it properly.
And its and Old post for some other Recovery

Why did you wipe internal storage? And what are you trying to mount. If you are trying to install a new rom all you need to wipe is cache, dalvik, system and data. Wiping internal storage removes everything from the internal SD card and if you do this then you have no OS.

At this point i can't care less about the data in internal storage. I just need to flash the official MIUI ROM back, enable Camera2 API and live in peace. At this moment I'm halfway through downloading the ROM but I'm not sure if i can flash it due to the Mount Issue of internal storage. I plan on transferring it to my micro SD card and flashing it from there to System Image. Will it work? And Internal Storage formatting failed in case you didn't notice. Practically nothing worked except the file system change of "data". And even that didn't fix the unable to Mount issue.

TWRP fails to wipe or format data

Hi, I regularly flash new roms for our device to test them, so I'm using TWRP for a long time.
2 weeks ago I installed the stock oreo rom and the TWRP recovery via fastboot.
Yesterday I wanted to test ToxycOS so I tried to wipe everything. The log does not show any error but the system and internal memory are sill there. From the main page of TWRP, if I go to ''Install'' and then ''select storage'' it says that there are ~50000 Mb in the internal storage, and I still can see all the folders with the TWRP file manager.
I even tried to format data but the result is the same.
The device won't boot but the files are still there.
So now I can only dirty flash roms.
It never happened to me before, what can I do?
