How to root Lenovo P1 Turbo P1a42? - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

Hello. I bought a Lenovo P1 turbo phone. I managed to unlock the bootloader.
Now I have few questions:
1. How does one relock the bootloader?
2. How to root the said phone?
3. Can I unroot?
4. If I am rooted, can I relock bootloader?
Model: P1a42
ROM: P1a42_S288_160721_ROW
Version: Android 6.0.1
I read some guides, but they appear to be related to the P1 phone. Mine is a Turbo.

Your phone is same as normal P1
1. idk
2. Same as other P1s
3. Yes u can flash back stock rom
4. idk
idk= idontknow

I did this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/vibe-p1/how-to/lenovo-vibe-p1-a42-c72-root-ready-t3533693
With S288 firmware and it would revert me back to stock recovery. Then I tried fastboot boot recovery.img and it worked . I managed to root the phone.
However now "adb reboot bootloader" would make the phone stuck on lenovo logo and bootloader won't show. Is this fixable?

Boot into bootloader and reflash twrp.
1) I dont remember the key combination required to get into fastboot, could anyone help out on this one
2) When in fastboot your phone should get stuck on the huawei screen, then you run fastboot flash recovery recovery_twrp.img
recovery_twrp.img being the twrp file from surdus thread.
3) fastboot restart and you should be able to access twrp

VIBE K5 Unlock Bootloader (UNLOCK NOT ALLOWED)

Hello, i am a NOOB here.
my Lenovo Vibe K5 (A6020 a46) (Indian Variant) was kept untouched with all the root and Custom rom stuff. Now i want to get to the Custom ROM part.
and i have had all prerequisites. (Developer options, Oem unlocking, adb driveres)
Firstly to unlock bootloader. Is this really importat? (because i got my phone boot through twrp temporarily via faastboot using cmd))
So when i tried using adb commands i get the OEM UNLOCK nOT ALLOWED
and for this problem i have browsed through xda and go tsomething named qsfi, sahara problem. i dont know what that means.
What is the problem with my phone and how can i resolve it?
Same issue
I'm facing exactly same issue
The phone is unlocked out of the box, you don't need to unlock it.
What if you buy the phone from your
Provider?? Can someone say will it be bootloader unlocked??
Becouse like the Sony Xperia models
All provider phones comes with bootloader locked forever.. You can not evan have twrp or root with locked bootloader
Please give me some advice before buying this phone
There is no need to unlock bootloader, just enable oem unlock from the developer option and that's it. I have tried this method and trust me it worked. Now I'm enjoying lineage os 15 on my K5 Plus. :fingers-crossed:

You dont need the booloader to be unlocked.
Download Pixel Experience Rom, make an backup of stock rom if you dont have one and Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik and System trough recovery.
Now Flash Pixel Experience Rom and Magisk.

You only need twrp for installing custom ROM so no need of unlocking bootloader if you can get twrp without it .
Someone posted a method
Rename the twrp IMG to recovery.img and flash it using Lenovo smart assistant or qfil.
It worked for him but try it at your own risk

Actually without doing any of the process above just by
-Flash TWRP
-Root the phone using SuperSu
-TAke backup (TWRP backup)
-Wipe (except SD card)
-Install custom ROM(LOS here) and GApps
The phone works great. VoLTE was an issue. it is solved now too.
I dont recommend doing this to others. but just that it worked for him @meher777
The bootloader in this phone is already unlocked, you just need to enable OEM UNLOCK to allow modifications in the device.

There is no issue with unlocking bootloader except few exceptions. Unlocking bootloader workes in most cases and shouldn't be a problem .
If you want to buy a device go for some other it's a pretty old device now there are better options Available ex Redmi 4 , Redmi 4a or Redmi 5a according to availability in your country in exactly same budget if you get a little more budget go for some other.
