Screen protectors to enhance S Pen use - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Accessories

I've ordered a tempered glass protector for now. But I know from previous experience some protectors give a better note making experience. I'd be interested in any recommendations. Thanks in advance.
Note - I'll probably use the free new S Pen as opposed to one of the Wacom pens for Samsung Note devices.

This screen protector has a nice finish and okay for S Pen use.

Amazon US - Spigen Galaxy Tab S3 Screen Protector 9.7 inch / Tempered Glass / 2 Pack / 9H Hardness for Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 inch

I haven't used screen protectors on my devices, past and present. Smartphones and tablets have to be bare, in my humble opinion, in order to enjoy the screen. The question could be similar to, without being vulgar, what condom enhances sex.
My tab s3 came with spare nibs in two colors: black for smooth and soft writing and white for a more dull but frictionless style.
Just for reference, the pen of the Surface Pro 4 comes with a kit holding four different nibs: 2H, H, HB and B.
As for scratches, I am the screen protector....

It is also good to know that even gorilla glass is not scratch proof but scratch resistant, and not 100% scratch resistant either. But I know people who don't like any screen protector on their phone or tablet, my son is one of them. So it is a matter of taste and opinion.

I never used screen protector on the previous tablets, neither on my actual Note 3 smartphone. But the recent reviews on s8 screen issues made me purchase a Poetic Screen protector on Amazon...
It works fine. Same responsiveness and same look with o without it.

Screen Protector film.. do we really need it?

Hi, just got my Note 10.1 LTE. Should we really use a screen guard?? by the way I hate those.. I never used a screen protector in my Galaxy S - its been 3years without any scratch.
My note 10.1 came with a free screen guard (SuperGuard - Clear for Note 10.1 2014) from my vendor. And I checked documentation for the devce.. didn't find Gorilla Glass mentioned anywhere.. so the question is - should we really use a screen protector for Note 10.1 2014?
Comments and your experience please..
Screen protectors required?
Hi Guys,
Please help with your experience.. do we really need to use the so called 'screen guards' / screen protector film?

This was my answer to a similar question on another thread....hope it helps....
My brother has never used any screen protectors on his devices and they all have pristine screens, I on the other hand have a few scratches on my S3 but that's only because I work in an Engineering environment where there are all sorts of materials flying about plus I no longer care tbh and use the phone even with dirty hands.
To be honest considering how much I use my phone its actually done pretty well, I have a 1cm long deep scratch and about 4 really light scratches that are barely noticeable and I've had the phone since release.
If your going to just use it in the house I would say you don't need one but you never know.
P.S. I don't think that really answers your question but still atleast you have something to think about haha

I've seen reviews and spec lists for the 2014 Note around the web that specify that it has Gorilla Glass 3. The Samsung website does not mention the glass at all, but that does not mean it doesn't have it.
I have an HP Touchpad which has Gorilla Glass 1. It never saw a screen protector and it doesn't have a scratch on it.
I do not intend to put a screen protector on my Note.
It has now seen three cases already though. So far I like the Poetic slimline best.

the old 6 of one half a dozen of the other
i agree about the strengths of modern day screens
gorilla glass or not
but i find without a screen the fingerprints are harder to clean as i use mine for drawing etc
i had my P600 with a screen and without a screen and then i put a screen back on
i use Benks screens (anti fingerprints - and it really makes a difference)...... love em.......
if you put on a cheap screen then you wont know what i am talking about
i can understand if people dont use em.....
cheers all and love my P600

There was a long thread on this on AndroidCentral. One person was told by Samsung Technical Support that it had Gorilla Glass 3, and another was told it has a Samsung plated glass that is just as good.
I guess either way it's pretty tough glass. I saw a test on Gorilla Glass 2, it's a lot tougher than any tablet or phone needs.

Screen protectors don't prevent a screen from cracking, they only prevent the screen from scratches.
Never had one on a phone/tablet...and never needed one. They make the screen look crap IMO (unless you're extremely good and make sure there are no air bubbles). But then I still hate them! If it was that vital to have one, Samsung would include one by default.

Not necessarily true. Zagg xtreme shields specifically state that they add impact resistance as do just like glass screen protectors. Tempered glass protectors also do A LOT to increase the chance of your devices screen surviving a fall. Hope this was helpful.

I'm not trying to start an arguement here lol but I honestly dont see how a screen protector can prevent a screen from cracking, what it will do is keep the glass in place when it does crack which is a good thing in such an incident.
I understand however anyone who has used a tempered glass protector will swear by their ability to keep a screen from cracking. I theory they absorb the impact and crack then selves rather than letting your screen crack. Personally they have saved my own devices over a half dozen times. So in practice if certainly seems to work. Some such as MIME Ghost Glass actually are harder and more scratch resistant than Gorilla glass 3 and many believe feel better than their stock screens. While this is all anecdotal and opinion you will find a huge number of people on these forums staunchly defending them. That being said, I have yet to put any screen protector on my Note 2014 as always hope this was helpful.

[Q] Best Buy screen protector

@fballboy23

Bubble free application and with the plastic tip it's perfect with the s-pen. I have placed many many screen protectors on a variety of devices and I have to say this screen protector is easy, the best I have used.
Make sure the screen is dust free and slowly press the protector in place and the bubbles will automatically push out but it's best to add a bit of pressure with a card to ensure the protector is properly adhered to the screen.

Yeah you get 2 different tips in the box. Takes literally 5 seconds to swap them over.
One is a hard plastic and the other has a rubber tip.

I have the Zaggs HD screen protector on my 2014 and have had no S Pen issues whatsoever. I also have not had any issues with 'bubbling' per se, but unlike the Zaggs 'Original' screen protector, the Zaggs HD does have a tendency to get marred a bit with extended use.
I have no experience with any other brand of screen protectors.

So I am planning to pick up the Galaxy Note 10.1 sometime in the next week and one of the things I really like about it is the S-pen and the pressure sensitivity to it with the digitizer in the screen, I kind of wanted to use it to learn a bit how to draw/etc which led me to the question about screen protectors. I hate them because they are a pain for me to put on and I am very ocd about bubbles in screen protector. Is the Zagg (I think it is?) best buy protectors going to work fine with the S-pen? I'm really concerned with it having a lot of friction or drag and more importantly that it will mess with the sensitivity of the S-pen.
If not, any recommended easy to apply screen protectors?

It states in the manual "do not use a screen protector".
IMO, I had store bought ordinary screen protector on my 2014 while I was waiting for the Tempered Glass screen to come from China..
I had NO problems with either one. The first one worked very well. I just happen to like the Tempered Glass better. I have good results with Temp Glass on my Note 3..
IMO, no need to be concerned, and I highly recommend some form of screen protector..

My experience with fingerprints from using several devices with screen protectors is to have CLEAN AND DRY HANDS, and no prints are left.
Moist, and greasy hands will leave fingerprints in almost all situations. Also, with the super high resolution of this device, it could be that those fingerprint proof screens sacrifice some of the resolution. I have no proof of that, just a thought...
Im using a zagg shield on my note and its amazing. No issues with sensitivity or ripping the shield with the s pen.

Funny thing about this Tempered Glass. The first one for my Note 3, I had the Spigen Tempered Glass Protector, which cost upward of $30+. However, it was either a bad installation or a faulty piece of glass, but the Spigen wouldn't stick to my Note 3.. I returned it, and purchased a clone off Ebay for $7.50. The clone works perfectly..The one for the GN 2014 cost $17.99, also off Ebay.. So, I spent $26 and sporting Tempered Glass on both my Notes..

Question on screen protectors

I always install a Zagg Invisible Shield on my phones and tablets. Question on the Note 10.1: will installing a screen protector affect the s pen functionality? I am buying this tablet mainly for drawing with artflow/sketchbook pro. I am assuming that the screen protector would interfere with the s pen when sketching. Anyone have one installed that can verify?
EDIT: Obviously this should be in the accessory forum. If I mod wants to move it, that's cool. My bad.
I have a zagg on mine, and have not noticed any s-pen delays. To me it seems just as smooth without a protector.
Just a little tip that I do.... I spray a SMALL bit of spray wax on the screen, then wipe with a microfiber towel. I have been doing this since my first touchscreen, have had no issues.
Had a zagg on note 2 using s pen made fine lines on screen pro

ZAAG screen protectors come in a few flavors. Your regular ZAAG has an "orange peel" feel to them. Using any sort of stylus on these will quickly create grooves and render your ZAAG useless. The HD ZAAG has a smooth feel, like glass. This is the one you'd want to get, if you're getting a ZAAG for your Note 2014.

The Tab S2 Screen Protector Thread

Hi everyone.
Didn't see a thread for screen protectors for this tablet, so I thought I would start one. I have the 8.0 inch tablet, and a glass screen protector from amFilm that works very well; no issues with halo or anything like that. If you have one that is good for either size, please share so that we can be sure to all get the best products!!
I like mine without any screen protectors ☺

Seconded. I tried two of... I forget the brand; it's the #1 seller or Amazon and starts with an I and both had problems. Then I got a Skinomi and it's perfection :good:
Bought Omoton for my 8".
Best packaging of any I've used, very complete.
They also have 2 hinges that make putting it on much easier.
Had a few air pockets at first but with a some pressing and pushing toward the edges they have gone.
Only negative is that I have the telephone model and they didn't have a cut out for the top speaker.
As I don't think I'd hold this up to my heard and rarely use the phone (and when I do it's blue tooth direct to my hearing aids or by speaker) it's not a problem.
Shofar
I made a few purchase from china, 2.5D , cost me approximate USD 2.40 each.
does what it suppose to do, had it on since I've had my tab, I have the 4G version, the protector has all the cut out.
Any more updates on screen protectors? I have installed Tech Armor Ballistic Glass on 10 or so devices, always very pleased with them and their service, but they don't offer a Tab S2 yet.
Looks like Skinomi it is, appears pretty similar to the TA. Hopefully just as oleophobic.
I'm happy with my Skinomi. I don't notice fingerprints on it at all.

The Skinomi Glass arrived, it's a quality surface, but my application failed on one corner, got a ~ 1/4 inch bubble on the bezel. I've installed a lot of Tech Armors phone and tablet glass protectors, I can usually get it right 9 out of 10 times.
Tech Armor always sends a replacement if you mess it up, but they don't make a Tab S2 yet. Skinomi warranty says it does not cover incorrect installations. Ordered another one and also emailed Skinomi CS asking for another one anyway.
Not many cases for this tablet... Too bad Spigen or Seidio don't make one yet. The Tab S2 is just a little too thin naked for me to hold comfortably.
Is there other screen protector? I live in Austria and there are not these brands here...
Thank you!
Does anyone know if these Samsung branded screen protectors work on the Tab S2 8'?
Galaxy Tab 3 8 inches and Galaxy Tab 4 8 inches .
I can only find generic tempered glass screen protectors and I'd rather go with one of these two for now.

Thanks a lot. I'll see what I can get shipped to Romania.
Could someone confirm that the "old" and the new model's front panel are the same? Would like to buy a screen protector to a 813 model but i'm not sure if it's exactly the same on the front like the 810. Is the camera module, the light sensor, and the home button at the same position and are the same size? (i would assume so, but you never know)

If found that bubbles at the edges are almost always caused by the protector being to close to that edge. The only way to get rid of the bubble is to completely remove the protector and re-position it.
I had bought these: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/T815...2624571978.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.58.V2jpEY.
I applied one of them with no problem. I have two or three tiny bubbles that were caused by specks of dust that crept in despite my effort to prevent it.

I like the zagg company They are a little pricey But decent and offer an alright warranty. I have used them on previous devices only issue I ever had was on LG it wasn't cut out around the proximiy sensor and causes double tap to wake issues as well as if I was in the dark it would think it was in my pocket and keep the screen from even turning on

I have it and can't say I recommend it. its about 90% perfect, but its cut too narrow.
It installed perfectly with no bubbles.
It's nice thick glass, so it feels protective, but does not reduce sensitivity at all.
The oleophobic coating on it is fantastic. It feels smoother than the factory glass on the screen.
BUT, it's cut so narrow, you can actually see a sliver of light from the screen on either side of the TGSP when viewing it directly from the front. Then it has black bars on both sides that cuts down on the screen even more. It is very distracting to me, but it may not bother you. I emailed Zagg to complain and they are sending me their Sapphire screen protector free of charge.

I got mine about 4 weeks ago. I was highly disappointed with the S8 on my mom's phone that shattered after a month because you had to press down so hard on it. I got one for my 8+ in December and it popped off overnight. They sent me an 8 and 8+ Elite. It's an absolute PITA to put on; I had to use a large Oakley microfiber cloth to massage heat into it to work the air bubbles out. The black frame around it is a little distracting, but it's by far their best glass. No lifting, no loss in touch functionality, no scratches. I just dropped it last night at my birthday party on the seam between tile and hardwood floor, and it survived, so I'd say it's the best I've used.
