I just got it.

I applied it and can't remap Bixby button after. I'm using All In One Gestures.

Got it also.

Yep got it. Bixby remapping gone
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Is there an actual change log somewhere?
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I got it too... so far is that all it is effecting? I'm not terribly concerned about remapping the Bixby button.

Just got update to.

Now Bixby button does work or register in gesture app
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Yeah, I'm always hesitant to take an update on release day. Hopefully it means they found a big hole that can be exploited later on. I'll wait for as long as they will let me!
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

And tried to delete trade in gesture app and doesn't even register I'm pressing button

10/10 dentists will not update.

If you care about root... for now... it is recommended to do this:
avoid all updates...

It sad something in the release notes when I was installing it that it improves facial recognition. I wonder if it's an improvement or an attempt to make it more secure.

Same. Crossing my fingers for a quick root

pretty sure the major thing in this update include facial recognition & the remap of bixby, from what I have heard is samsung is not happy about the bixby button remap exploit. Like TEKHD said, I'd stay away from this update for now.

Ya even factory reset Bixby button does nothing.

Of course, because the software updates make changes to the /system partition and doing a master reset doesn't affect that.

Something weird about google wallet..

Okay so there was an update for google wallet so I downloaded it hoping it would work with our phone (it didn't of course) anyways when I opened it it asked for root access from super user. I thought it was very strange any thoughts?

What do you want clarified? You can download it from the market, but it doesn't work.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You can download it from the market but it currently doesn't work with our device. Anyway it asks for root permission when you open
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
It won't ever work in this phone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
The reason why Google wallet asks for SU permissions is because it wants to know if you are rooted or not. If you are, whether you allow or deny root access then all it gives you is the "unsupported device" notification.:

Yeah the previous security bugs involved rooted devices so they added this as a fix. Hopefully it is jump a temp fix.

Yeah, didn't they require some 'secure element' chip that our phones didn't have or did they work around that and I just missed it?

Funny. I ran a log cat while attempting to activate Google Wallet and got:
D/NFCJNI ( 767): > Number of Secure Element(s) : 1
D/NFCJNI ( 767): phLibNfc_SE_GetSecureElementList(): SMX detected
ROM: CM10, Nightly, 8/14/12
I always get the set up screen for Google wallet every time I flashed a new ROM ...don't u guys!?

Smart updates on jelly bean?

I wonder how it works because it never works for me, I'm updating an app right now and it's downloading everything again as you'll see in the screenshot. It shouldn't be like that on jelly bean as far as I know.
Any ideas?

I hope that the developers enable that soon... it will make the upgrading progress easier and it should consume less data usage.

I hope that too.
The days where a "big" app was about 10MB are gone. 10 MB for an app is standard these days.
Cheers!
I really hope so, Ill take a look for the next google apps if they are updating in a super smart way
I thought Google said that the smart updates would be done automatically by them on there end. Developers wouldn't have to do anything.

Yea, wondering whats the hold up. Didn't they say it will launch with JB? Still nothing yet.
Woah totally forgot about this feature! When is this going to become the norm?

I've actually noticed that when I updated Gmail it was only a few kb, so maybe Google has done for their apps. I do remember that this was supposed to be built in with all apps automatically, not something that developers needed to include on their own.
Though I guess it would make sense that they'd need to... You'd need to have play store scan your current file, scan the update you want to download, and then choose the specific code which has been changed since then, and isolate it to be downloaded on its own, and rewrite the app? Does anyone know how it works?

Well pc's or phones freeze when its trying to do something an its more than it can handle or a process is hanging. ..
With that being said, has it always done this or is it something recent?
Did you recently install an app from the playstore?
Yea I'm always downloading but I can't pin point which program would make it lag

Well you have 2 choices.
You can connect it to your pc an grab a logcat an see if its giving any errors like there is a program crashing or conflicting.
Or just start removing apps until it runs better...
Gotcha Thanks!
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
Mine started randomly doing this, and I didn't change anything at all to make it do it. I tried removing all apps, clearing the cache in the touchwiz program, but no avail. I had to do a factory data reset, and now it's fine. I was stock as well, so I don't know what may have caused it.

What is this little "eye" icon for?

Can anyone tell me what this little icon means? It doesn't have a corresponding item in the notification area.
Is it related to that feature that keeps the screen on when you're looking at it, maybe? Screen shot attached..
Thanks,

That's the smart eye feature built in with the phone on stock or the ROM you are using.. Basically if you're looking at your phone, it will stay on as long as you are looking at it and thus you will see the "eye".
If you want a further explanation let me know. That's pretty much the simplest easiest way to explain it.

One more question.. Any idea what impact the Smart Eye feature has on battery life? My battery life sucks since the 4.3 update so looking for any way to make it better. Do you think turning this feature off would help?

Turning it off could help a little bit. I found that ever since I have gone up to a 4.3+ ROM, my battery life has been atrocious.

Keyboard

Looking for a keyboard with a dedicated 5th row for numbers. Samsungs lack of autocorrection ruins it for me. I tend to type very quickly and rely of autocorrection to pick up my simple mistakes. Any suggestions?

Maybe sign up for SwiftKey beta. Interestingly the paid version doesn't have the numbers on top.

Symbols were already there. If you lose auto correct usually it means your beta version has expired and you need to update to the latest beta to get it back.
