Yes it closes and stays closed via magnet. Got one yesterday for mom's S8+. I seriously considered getting one for myself, but ugh that price!

I got one, but I got the 20% accessory discount for getting the phone from Tmo as a new customer. That price is still **** though. I feel like the protection is good, and it's spot on for mounting in the car
But I'll still get another case for rougher ****. This one is pure sex.

kickstand wear and tear

Is anyone else worried about there kickstand in the long run wearing out and becoming lose and not springing back snug against the case but instead flopping around every time you use the phone like a dead appendage or is it just me?

I am. Not because i hope it doesn't, because from what it feels like..i know it will
I honestly don't understand people on every Evo forum on the 'net worrying about things that may possibly happen sometime in the future. Just enjoy the phone!

when it happens...duct tape!
Get insurance on it and be done with it. I purchased Sprint insurance but will look towards a third party insurance to see which would come out cheaper. $14/mo X 24 would be $336 over the course of 2 years. I hear there are some reputable companies out there that insure at a cheaper price.
Don't worry and I don't see myself using the kickstand that much anyway because I prefer to hold it.

Agreed. LOL the only time i've used that kickstand, is to say "look it even comes with a kickstand" HAHAHAHA
Mine has already devoloped some side-to-side wiggle that I'm kinda worried about. Guess I should have listened to my mom when she told me to quit playin with it
I don't plan on actually using it either.

14? I'm paying $7 a month and they said it was the best and only insurance they had.
So, they probably have two Evo's they are insuring...
at bestbuy i did a test with demo and i literally pulled it out and slammed it back in (giggidy) about 200 times and its perfect still.

Surface II or Active?

So, im about to buy an Innocase. Im too drunk to decide which one I want, so im leaving it up to my fellow XDA'ians.
What do you think?
Oh yea, BTW, im waiting until Midnight Central Time, and im buying whatever you guys decide, because im impatient
Dude, go with the Active. I seriously love it. It so well designed and it's so comfortable to hold. Plus it will be compatible will seidio's car mount and docks.
BTW, speaking of drunk, that last post took me like ten minutes because of many jack and cokes. Even worse, I had to go back and edit it because I said "seidio socks" instead of "docks". I blame that on Jack and the lack of Swype. Buy the damn case
20 minutes left!!!
I was going to order the Active from Amazon, but it says it takes 2-3 weeks to ship. By that time there hopefully will be some decent cases out, because none of the ones out are that great. Anyone know of any place to order them that has em in stock? Im guessing not since its an Amazon exclusive case..
i got mine yesterday, it only took a week or so to ship
I just ordered My active. Geez, i hope it ships before it says it will (July 12)
july 12th is my bday
Active is nicer but bulky, I use it for work but take it off when not working. If you do work where the phone can easily get damaged active is worth it offers lots of protection otherwise I would definitely go with Surface as it's much slimmer actually I would probably go with no case unless you really need it LOL
Active all the way man!
Surface II all the way
sent from my evo
I bought the surface II and returned it. Purchased the Active, and love it. The extra bulk people mention is hardly noticeable, and it feels MUCH more solid. The two cant even be compared in my opinion.
I just got the updated Surface II as the first run(batch) was horrible. The second round is nice and snug. Hardly any play in it now.

just found a supa good deal...

well...I guess it's all relative what a "good deal" is, but I got married on friday, graduate school in 3 weeks, and have yet to find a full time, salaried position with benefits. I'm currently turning a wrench in a shop as much as I can on weekends to make some $$, but the GI Bill has helped wonders.
In short, I stay strapped for cash. Never broke, but always lookin for a deal
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...t=301&pf_rd_p=1263465782&pf_rd_i=898334029848
Came across this just now, and didn't even hesitate to order. I figured even if the whole package sucks, I paid under 10 bucks for expedited shipping. If it works out, I've got a case til I decide which nice one to get (OB or Seidio prolly...) and car charger (already have a decent screen protector). For 10 smackeroos, I'll take that risk
Either way...not trying to advertise, hope this isn't interpreted as such, I just figured this deal had to be shared!
Looks like a good deal to me. I don't like cases though. I like my.phone like my women... naked. The captivate is too pretty to hide behind a case.

I got this one last week, will be writing a reveiw soon. The case is good, the charger is ok but is not for a Captivate, the bag says is for a Motorola Razr and the screen protector can't say nothing because I am using a different one.

thanks for the info. that's pretty much about what I expected. I wasn't gonna worry about the screen protector, as I, like you, am using a different one, mainly i bought it 'cause i figgered it might work out to a cheap, halfway decent case, and a bonus charger

my Gnote N7000ill try to get some pictures of the note in it when i find my old phone...but so far I'm loving this thing so much it was exactly what I wanted
does it shake the crap out of the phone? Mine doesn't have any warranty so I have been pretty scared to get something like this. It would be nice if they made one with some type of cushion to lower the impact from bumps on the device

Poll: Case or no case?

Hello folks,
Long-time lurker here and I post before you today with small request - help me help you help me design a better dock!
I'm currently developing a modular multi-device charging stand and the issue I need help with is devices being used with protective cases.
I would be very grateful if you guys could take this quick poll and if you feel like it, provide a little bit of detail about your dock and/or case usage.
The stand is just about ready - I'm just finalising the device dock designs, then it's the initial prototype and if all goes well I will have some
preview models out for an early review (if anyone would like to review one please PM me and I'm sure we can work something out) and I shall post a little showcase here as well.
Many thanks in advance guys and gals!
Hmmm, it seems my Forum-Fu is weak - is there a way to edit a poll? Or would a Mod be kind enough to add two more options to the list?
"Yes. I'm thinking about a dock." and "No. I'm thinking about a dock."
Thanks again!

case save my screen a lot of time
I never use a case on my phone. Hated the thought of taking a nice slim phone and making it bulky. I just never drop it, not that difficult.
Definitely a case is a must for me.I have dropped and bumped my phone 2 or 3 times and the case did the job for me.Without a case I imagine my phone would have been just a broken toy and also by the way even having a good case adds to peace of mind since it adds a little protection value.

A case is important to me. I work hard for my money and will not take a chance on breaking it. For those that "never" drop their phone, good for you. As far as "ruining" the look of my sleek phone, I couldn't care less about bulk and changing the look of it. I'm not a kid that likes to show off, I'm an older man that uses a phone as a tool, not a show toy. Besides, some cases do actually look good.
Sometimes
I usually use a case when out and about but prefer to take it off whilst at home
Here in Mexico, most phone owners use a case (i.e tpu, silicone, hard plastic) because when don't have insurance plans like you do in U.s. Thus making it cheaper to buy a case ($4 - 8) than to pay for another phone or fix it.

That's OK if you use an easy-off/on case, but some of use those 2 piece hybrids that are a pain to take off and put back on.

Most people I know here in the US don't have insurance on their phones, so having a good case is just as important here as in mexico. Plus, paying $8 a month for insurance is pretty expensive. That's almost $100 a year. No thanks. I'd rather spend $25-35 once for a good heavy duty case and have it for the life of the phone.
I use urban armor gear case. Would be interested in stand for charging multiple devices at once.

I don't one and I wont get one. Just be careful. And it looks ugly tough.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I've decided, at the risk of fragmentation, I'm going to give buyers the option of either a cased or caseless version of a devices cradle to attach to the dock - it's already going to be tailored to meet individual device needs, I may as well go all the way and offer this too.
As a follow up question:
The stand is currently aiming to support one tablet and one phone charging and displaying on the stand with the possibility of charging 2 extra devices at the same time - one would be resting on the legs of the stand (with small extrusions on the feet to stop the device slipping - this may not be able to fit every device but currently anything ~13cm in length should be fine), and one lying on your desk underneath.
Would people be interested in the option (depending on the size of the base stand) of an additional phone dock in place of a tablet dock? (Or if you're using a larger stand the option of an additional tablet dock? Subject to feasibility of course.)
Many thanks for the replies everyone, I'll be sending the initial design to be 3D printed Monday or Tuesday!
Sometimes the phone can fall to the floor. A simple case of rubber, even pleasant, when you take the phone in hand.
I agree
wolfen69 I think if I had a case like that I would just leave it on. I want a metal case eventually! That would be awesome!
Metal case will protect your device screen when it falls down, but not sensitive sensors, i guess. I'm currently using Samsung S-View case and i am pleased with it. :good:
A case ruins the beauty of my Lumia
But its better to stay safe
Just for the record: I bought my girlfriend some rubber case for her moto g. She bought her phone since it's launch on November and we weren't able to find a case for that model here in Mexico.
She had dropped her phone a couple times without a case, and the phone back got some marks and scratches. Now she had put the case on and dropped her phone in the middle of a street without noticing. When we ran down the street searching for her phone, we found that a car had ran over it, leaving tire marks on the lime green case. To our surprise, both phone and screen were intact, thus, we think a case is the best investment you can do when buying a new phone

I usually don't use a case. It was designed the way it is and should be in the form as is. Unfortunately I use an extended battery and hacked up my original back to my GN2 so I can't even go back to the original feeling of the phone.
