Does the nougat update fix the youtube lip sync issue? - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Also does nougat allow you to calibrate the color of the screen?

Yes it fixes the sync. No unfortunately no calibration of screen just the regular two modes. I also want color control as I want to make my screen a little cooler. We can just hope for a custom kernel in the future that allows this. ElementalX dev has stated he won't make anything for the P2.

If mine would had been just a tad warmer I would have thought about doing the same. But in "vibrance" mode it's good enough (barely). I can stand it as the eye gets a little used to it.
There are ways to make it a little cooler anyway. Check the app Screen Balance. It will mess with your blacks but not very much if you keep the opacity <50%. It's a tradeoff but it can help.

Actually that's what I've been using, it makes the black looks like dark blue...
The screen just isn't that good, not sure why so many people jump on the amoled bandwagon
LCD is more color accurate, no risk of burn in, the white looks so much better and the quality of LCD is always consistent unlike amoled which varies everytime.

I completely agree with you on every point. I'm an LCD person too for the same reasons.
Though I have to say I'm happy overall with this screen because of one reason, it's the most uniform screen I've ever had including all LCD phones I've had and they are a lot. My screen is pretty much perfect i never get this lucky certainly not with Amoled.

The sync issue is fixed and I don't have any problems with the screen. For many years everybody was loving the oversaturated amoled Samsung screens, but now there are opinions that some prefer lcd. Well it's a personal preference, lcd screens have bad black color and also drain more battery regardless what you're doing on your phone.

AMOLED and Themes - important note

Important to all theme developers and users to read before making/downloading themes.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/42669045/4D-AMOLED-Presentation
Green is the best at 40K hours, Red is 25K and Blue is 12K hours = Conclusion that green themes is best of the best for AMOLED like Jumba's NeonGT was. Someone should save Jumbas theme who has skills to rebuild neonGT because it was almost complete green and very easy to eyes.
Nice info
It would be really useful for Theme developers/moders

Ok, the blue pixels have"only" 12k hours until the brightness will decrease to a certain value. Did you even took the time to calculate what 12k hours means for a phone with an average of 4 hours of screen on per day? ... The answer is .... about 10 years. I wonder how many amoled displays from today will still exists then.
Later edit: not to mention that the respective document is from 2008.
i'd say black is even better
Jossilint is right. I had a samsung wave before i bought galaxy s. Most icons were blue and white in top bar. After a couple of months you could see the shape of the icons in fullscreen mode, especially on blue or grey backgrounds.
So you can notice when blue led's are getting older.
AMOLEDs have improved a lot since that article was posted. Infact, the rated lifetime of the AMOLED pixels actually indicates the time after which the intensity of the light emitted will be degraded, but not totally gone dead. We know that Blue degrades faster, so if you happen to see the screen showing more of Green and Red and comparatively lesser blue, it would be a good time to get your screen replaced.
And coming to my personal preference, If I manage to use my phone for around 2 years or more and start seeing these issues, I would definitely pay for a new screen. Just because I love the screen..
i think most people will never notice decreased brightness of blue oleds. only in top bar, when you use the same blue or white icons at same position over months. even then it is only slightly visible, but it is.
i'm not the only one reporting it. i've seen a couple of wave users in forums with similar effects. and wave is using exactly the same display, only size is smaller.
Nice info !
Thanks for sharing

Yes but not with greywhite text (rgb all in use) but with green or red green mixed. I have readed lot of xda SGS burn in horror stories even after couple month(i assume max brightness used) and i am sure that this degraded light was blue.
I think you guys are overreacting. You'll end by NOT using your phone because you will always look not to burn the display. You'll NOT enjoy the beautiful colors and teh extraordinary contrast because of the same reason.
WTF? ... we are talking about a device that was built to entertain us, not to spend neurons in figuring out how not to do things with it.
Just my 2 cents.

You can enjoy, just change habits a bit like not giving max brightness in sun(just use better angle and medium is ok). SGS is not meant for hours of navigation in car this will kill most fastest, use TomTom or some other lcd based phone, SGS is good for quick navigation. SGS is perfect for darkness because AMOLED has no light leak like lcd and has best colors.
SGS is good to be used with whatever application you want and in any way you want. To change habits because I have an AMOLED display will mean to change habits because of a device instead of changing a device because of my habits.
Is like the old saying: "are you living to eat or are you eating to live?" Everything is a matter of perspective.
I consider myself more important than a device ... so I'll use that device to my satisfaction, not the other way around.
So please ... use the SGS to enjoy what you're doing. When the SGS will die (no matter if is the screen, the battery or whatever) you can always get a new one .

Screen streaking/unevenness?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else. Does your ET show (mostly) vertical streaking/unevenness when displaying a solid, light color? Is this something related to AMOLED, or is my ET defective?
Edit: I just realized this is dependent on screen brightness...the streaks are only apparent at the lowest brightnesses.
Thanks.
Screenshots would help others see what you're referring to.

I have to mention that the first one i had, was like this, but it showed like a dark spot in the center of the screen, btw screenshots wouldn't show this problem because is actually the hardware" Screen" In this case.
So i went ahead and brought it to the Sprint Store where i bought it from, and asked for a replacement due to the Screen hardware defect, they kept *****ing at me telling me, that they have to keep it for a whole day, to do "Tests" Im like... well its a hardware issue and i have taken the phone and hardreset it, making the phone as if just out of the box, and showed them the problem again"btw the phone comes with a Gray and Green pure colored background images that you can show to them, that it isn't an Image that you had Altered" , and they can see that it is the screen, and its what i showed to them, and thats when i got my replacement, When i got this one, i saw it again, and it had a white spot... also had various streaks coming from the Top of the screen, went int he second day and got me another replacement, but before i left the store, i stayed about 30 minutes in there, testing the phone out, and downloading all the apps that i had in the phone before. Also Good way to notice this problems( defects ) is dimming the screen all the way, and changing the background to gray, which is a default wallpaper.
This screen didn't have any of the defects that previous ones had, so im a happy camper .
So now what i'd recomend if you can, is replacing/exchanging the phone until you get one with a decent screen.
I get this too when my brightness is turned down. It's most visible on grays. Like the background of the market. It only appears when the brightness is turned down low. There is also this app in the market called "screen test" which cycles through different solid and colored backgrounds. that if you did take it in you could show them that. This issue doesnt really bother me but I have TEP plus there is a one year manufactures warranty so if it gets worse I'm not worried about it.
I finally got around to taking a quick set of comparison pictures. Sorry for the poor quality, I took them quickly with my phone. I also tried to purposely take them out of focus, so moire patterns from the actual pixel grid wouldn't confuse things. I have a feeling this is how all *LED based displays are.
I use the app "Colors" to quickly get a solid patch of color. I encourage a few people to download it, and browse through a few colors (grayish or dark tones - light or bright colors aren't affected as much) and see if they have it. "Grr-ey", "Mighty Slate", "Kind Giant" are good ones to test with.
Things are much more noticeable when the brightness is set low.
Brightness manually set to minimum:

[Q] Would this qualify as defective?

My screen shows banding on screens with gradients, like the call log screen, or screens with certain colors, like when I'm playing wordfeud. Even when I'm browsing the white background has faint horizontal and vertical lines.
All of this is only visible when on the lowest brightness setting. So when I'm browsing in bed at night etc it's really annoying.
I went to the (3) store here in denmark, but because it was a well lit room, the problem was barely visible and they said they'd have to send it in for "assesment", and best if i could come back in January and send it in (for 2-3 weeks). I'm just afraid they'll just return it with "problem not found"
I DID manage to report the problem to them on the 14th day after i bought it, their own DOA limit, but I've got a feeling I'm going to get screwed. Especially because the in store phone ALSO seemed to show the same color banding on the call log background.
I've tried taking some pictures that maximize the problem here: http://imgur.com/a/CbKYi#9
Are you guys seeing the same thing on any of your devices?
I love the phone to death otherwise, but it's like a scratch on a brand new car, it's annoying me a LOT.
unfortunately, that's just how they all are. has to do with the display type. both of the nexus' i've had were the same way, as was the display unit in my local verizon store.

You aren't seeing "banding" in the traditional screwed up screen sense, you're seeing the back of the display. I think it's just part of being SAMOLED and Pentile. I never noticed it until I started reading all the threads about people complaining over "banding" (and I don't think you're complaining LOL ).
Bump it up from the dimmest setting just a bit and most of it will go away. Our dimmest setting is REALLY good, at least compared to my old SGS. I also like how are screens don't have that SGS SAMOLED blue tint to them.

happy to hear my phone is not defective, but then again im very disappointed that this is a quality issue with the phone.
I read tons off aritcles discussing the difference between Super AMOLED and Super AMOLED plus (pentile and RGB) and this forum probably did the best job of explaining it
now is this also the reason why whites arent really white while having hte phone in auto brighntess? is the screen is dim, my "people" app is not white, actually far from it. but when the brightness is maxed out it looks magnificent

I was disappointed by the screen quality at first too, but the more I use the phone the less I notice it. I've even started to really like other aspects of the display that were lacking in other phones with a "clean" screen. Colors are much more vibrant for one, this is very visible when watching videos on the phone when I'm at the gym.

White spot or white pixel on white, what is it exactly?

Im quit perplexed about this so if someone with experience can explain

i posted this a lot before but i want to know, there is some grain visible in bright angles, and actually i have two of those white spots visible at angles, one of them is pixel size the other as you can see in the pic is quit few pixels size
but it doesn't show on black, very minimal on blue, shows on every other bright color
whats is itexactly, a dead pixel would be black and appear on white, a stuck pixel would be white and appear on black, dust would appear under sun light or flash light when the phone is turned off
but its not any of those, is this imperfection to the screen glue or dust in the glue or back light bleed?
The grain i assume is just glue imperfection but this white dot is driving me crazy it's mid screen and ruins the nice view angles of the One X, the screen is fit well actually
I tried pixel fixers but no luck, right now i'm trying to leave JScreenFix running for two hours
I have one of these, I think it's just a hot pixel. I emailed Clove and after seeing a photo of it, they said HTC won't replace for one bad pixel. Same thing as yours, only visible on white screens at odd angles, can't see it when looking at the phone straight on, and can't see it all on anything other than bright colours. Wish it wasn't there, but it's not a big deal to me, the rest of my phone is fine. Let me know if a pixel fixer works for you, haven't had luck so far. But I haven't noticed it lately.

a typical hot pixel should appear on all the time even dark background, anyway no luck with JScreen except that the device crossed 55degree lol
Got the same issue. Send it for repair today, it bugs the hell out of me. If they wont replace my screen for i'm gonna ask a refund.
I just noticed that I have one as well. Not sure what to make of it really, could be a lot worse but its pretty peculiar. Anyone managed to shed some light as to what it is or been able to remove it? Or if HTC will repair it?
I have one in the middle of my transformer prime, irritating but prob the least annoying type of screen deffect. Only noticeable on white backgrounds
white spots while charging in off mode
I m facing some strange issue in my canvad hd...i seen some white dots on screen during charging in off mode..when cell is not on...the charging image shows..in just above i seen white dots...i thought it dead pixel...but when i on my cell ..this dots gone...no dots there...only in off mode charging...they shows..what is this..ny idea...

[Q] About those viewing angles...

Hi to all
I'm pretty new to the tablet market and I just bought the note 10.1 2014. I'm in my first 14 days where I can exchange/return my tablet and I want to make sure everything is ok with my stuff.
I've read countless online reviews before making my choice and, as you all know, one of the strongest aspect of the note 10.1 2014 is the display. Most if not everybody is praising the resolution, the colors, minimal color shifting, brightness and the viewing angles. Now, I want to make sure my understanding of lcd displays/viewing angles is good.
My tablet's display is gorgeous... when I look at it straight at it. I have the minimal light bleed on the edge which only shows on black and has 0 impact on colors which I'm ok with (all demos in stores are the same so...) As soon as I tilt the tablet though (vertically or horizontally), colors become very dull. Actually, colors do not shift but everything becomes dimmer/duller. Now, I suspect this is normal behavior from a backlit LCD but still, I keep reading reviews stating the display is gorgeous and bright even from an angle which is not 100% right for mine. I've tried to look at videos/pictures online but most people doing reviews actually setup a camera right in front of the tablet and barely move it once it's turned on so it's not helping me. So when you guys are saying the tablet's display stays vivid and colorful from every angle, are you getting the same kind of behavior my tablet has and are not talking about this because this is normal behavior for an LCD display or is my tablet's display defective?
Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation. If needed, I could take pictures.

As is typical of the Samsung displays, the viewing angle stability is great. The colors remain stable regardless of the viewing angle and we did not note any great loss in brightness.

Thank you very much for your reply. Well, I guess my tablet's screen is pretty similar to the test unit provided in the review. My definition of stable brightness and colors is pretty different from the behavior of that display But to know my screen behaves normally compared to other tablets is good to know.
Just enjoy this tablet..Don't spend hours looking for problems that arent there. This tablet is wonderful , I have had mine since December with no issues at all. I'm rooted with tons of stuff on mine. Most of the problems I have been reading about are people with way too much time on their hands. Have a beer , and love your tablet!!

Don't get me wrong here, maybe I did put too much emphasis on the display and I'm sorry about this. I love my tablet too. I'm just discovering the power of the tablet and the S-Pen, the integration is pretty amazing.
Cheers
