Google assistant?? - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Have the Row ROM fully updated. All apps updated including Google play services. Am I being thick? Or has Google assistant simply not rolled out yet? Seem to just have generic Google now voice recognition.
Cheers

Try common how to's with changing languages. It worked for me.

It's not available in the UK so you have to change your language to English US.

Awesome. Sorted, thanks!!!

[Q] Apps not showing in app market

I have DHD rooted with the latest update installed fine (Thanks to the xda forums for helping out on that)
I have noticed some apps do not appear for me in the market, even when surfing to their url from the official site (or using their QR code). These apps include the Google Maps app, Nook, Google Buzz widget, Google Shopper, etc.
Is the market blocking these apps for me because of my current location (Israel)? Or is it the cell carrier I am using (Orange il)? Or maybe the language of my phone (English (Spain))?
Will an update to the most recent RUU solve it (And give me some more generic English language)? Or do I have to just hunt around for apk for these apps, and install them manually?

it's most probably because they are not available in your area, you could use market enabler to mock a diffrent carrier, if you are rooted, try a uk carrier, because all thoes apps are availiable im my area
Thanks - it was just what I needed (and was hoping to hear).

[Q] Voice Output Problem

Hi, i have a HTC Desire unroot and unbranded and fully updated to everything that is possibly out for the device. lately for some odd reason when i use apps such as google map navigation or the new google translate (with the sms translate and convo translate) it has been speaking program codes for the google map navigation and for the google translate, especially the asian dialogs and some other language. Currently have the espeaktt selected for voice output, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the same problem still consist. I don't know if its cause the apps are still in beta or is it just me. If its just me can anyone help me and tell me how to fix this problem?
Thank you
From what I understand of your post it does sound like its a bug in their app. If the app is reading you system code instead of the proper directions. It is most likely a problem inside the app. You should report the issue to the developer via the appropriate channels.

thanks a lot for the info. I just tried the google maps navigation with another voice engine and it was fine so if I'm not mistaken i think its the espeaktt app.

Google Now Doesn't Speak

Please forgive me, I have searched but 'Google Now' isn't a great search term...
Basically, I get no voice feedback when using voice search or the Google Now app on my 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update. Initially I was underwhelmed by Google Now and wondered what the fuss was, until I discovered it should be talking back to me in a Siri-like fashion.
I had the leaked 4.1 I/O release previously and same issue. Language is English and I have voice prompts turned on in the search settings.
Any ideas? It's a Google stock ROM and it never worked, so I really don't know what it could be.
Edit: Nevermind, same discussion here. Too bad there's no time-limited delete functionality here, feel free to delete.
Try this
There is my solution:
- Set your locale to whatever you want
- Set the Google Now Voice Language to English US
- Voice Output to Always
- Remove the tick(untick the box) on Hide Offensive Words
I spent hours of tinkering with this and tried all kinds of options, but in the end that solved it for me. This is because recently there was an update to Google Search, which is the application designation for Google Now and it introduced this bug.
I have my locale to my native one English UK en-GB and everything works like a charm as it should be and as it used to work before the update.

Make sure that you have downloaded the offline speech recognition in English US and maybe try asking something like "What's the time?". It will not talk back to all questions. Only the ones that were specifically pre-programmed. If it still doesn't work, try putting your system locale to English US and restarting your phone. And most importantly update your Talkback, Google Search and Google Voice search apps to their latest through the Play Store.
What I did now officially works on my O2 HTC One S and 3UK HTC One X, so it works for sure on those two.
I hope this helps

Language preference while travelling

Hey guys, I can't seem to find an answer to this and I'm on a prepaid plan with 200mb, so my options are limited. I bought my GSM gnex from Google in the US. All of the language settings are English/US. I am in France now. If I try to do a Google search, everything is in french and I can see no option to change it. Even the Google play store is in French now, and I can see no option to change it. Help!

Wouldn't it be under default languages?
Under language and input, everything is set to US English. As I said, I bought this and have used it in the US with no problem. Now that I'm visiting France, the web browser and play store seem to default to french without asking, and there doesn't seem to be an option for me to change this. Even regular Google searches come back french. Everything else on my phone is still in English.

Odd. I'm in the Netherlands but my gnex is on English(US). Play store, Google now and search are all in English.
Wish I could help but I have taken my Nexus to a couple of non-English speaking countries and while searches and the Play Store are customized according to region, it never changed language for me. For searches, you could try going into settings> accounts> Google> search and then tick the last box to force your phone to use google.com rather than the local domain. I don't know how you could change the Play Store language though.

I guess that's what I meant. All of my searches are customized for french, and even the play store apps now have french descriptions. Its kind of hard to search for tourist information in France when all of my search results are in french no matter how many times I try to redirect to Google.com instead of Google.fr.

Update: that last tip did the trick. Chrome still shows french results but the main browser is now in English. I guess I can wait until I get home to read play store app update descriptions. Thanks.

I had faced the same problem
I had the same problem in my Huawei Mate 20 Chinese Phone. Solved it by changing the language to Chinese through App Gallery and thereafter searching for and installing Google Play. It really worked fine.

How were you able to do the search in the App Gallery if the language was Chinese?
mate 20x 8gb, 256gb evr-l00
I have the evr-l00...
followed this instruction, changed the app gallery to china (region), even if the whole thing is in chinese, type in "Google Play" in the search box on the top of the page, hit enter, and there came Google Play Store.
Installed it... removed most of the chinese apps, installed all useful google apps, and that's it, viola!
still working perfectly up to now.
my only gripe with the chinese version (when used elsewhere, except china)... is that u will not be able to fully configure the mobile data limits as the 'region' and 'network providers' are all in chinese, for China-based networks.
