Stuck in bootloop after flashing TWRP. - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Hey guys. Today I flashed the english TWRP coming from the stock Nougat. Now the phone just wont boot. Whenever I try to boot it, it gives me the error message:
"Your device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted.
ID: N/A"
And TWRP comes up. I've already wiped everything, flashed a rom and it still boots into TWRP.
Please send help, guys.

ok this is LITERALLY the weirdest **** i've ever seen. if I go to fastboot and boot through Factory Mode, it boots up normally, but if I try to boot it normally, it just goes into TWRP. i'm literally going mad with this someone please help me fix this

I'm having the same issue. How do I fix it ?

Can someone please help. I tried using all 3 English twrp versions as well as the Chinese version. I keep getting stuck at the Lenovo boot screen.
The steps I am following are:
Flash twrp
Reboot to recovery
Flash kernel
Reboot to recovery
Flash su
After reboot I keep getting stuck at the Lenovo/moto boot animation
With the Chinese twrp I tried the same thing but it's also not working for me.
I also tried flashing the Verity fix linked in this thread but it's also not helping.
I'm using the Indian Moto Z Play. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong.

-I had the same problem but I was only able to flash TWRP by @Alberto97.
I got stuck on recovery loop. Then I tried what @vinnegsh just said, boot into factory mode thru the fastboot and it went ahead to system but the cellular data doesn't work(maybe because it's on factory mode). After that I simply rebooted my phone and it's all okay now. (running on the rom I recently flashed it with.)

Device will not flash any recovery in fastboot

My device decided to randomly encrypt itself after using the CM12 port that is available. How this happened is beyond me. Anyhow, I tried to do a factory reset... Nothing would mount because the device was encrypted. So, I thought it would be a great idea to flash a different recovery. By now, I have flashed over 6 recovery images (all different) even the stock. Fastboot says that the transfer went through successfully only to find when I try to boot into recovery, it boots into fastboot instead.
Yes the device is unlocked.
I don't know if there is a ROM on it, but when i try to start it normally, it wont boot past the splash screen (before the boot animation)
Please help, as this is the only phone I am stuck with for a long time
Here's a thread with people that have a similar problem. There are some suggestions of what to do in there, but personally none of them worked for me. I ended up having to send it back to Amazon.

Never factory restore when you have a Custom ROM as it isn't made to reset with the devices stock hardware and causes things to go crazy.
Always use a nandroid of the original system with root, then unroot, then factory restore from that.
Also. YouTube search - HTC Desire 816 root unlock bootloader.
Use the .exe recovery from that video in fastboot at least twice without exiting fastboot or rebooting.
Now try the recovery.

When you were on the stock recovery, could you wipe partitions?
Also what model do you have?

[Q] Flashing doesn't seem to be working..

It has been about 72 hours of me searching xda and google and nothing seems to be able to fix the issue.
I turned this phone on after a while (a few months) and it goes into a boot loop. So I did a factory reset, it didn't solve the issue, I flashed a ROM nothing seemed to be changed, I decided to flash a different recovery (currently it has TWRP -- I decided to try CWM) but the recovery remains the same (it does say that it was flashed successfully but nothing happens). When I rebooted, it was still running TWRP, and nothing had changed.
And now I realized even a hard reset apparently isn't working.
Does any one know whats up with this? I just completely lost here and blank.
All the flashing never gives any errors in Fastboot. It transfers the file and says that it was flashed.
Please help, what could be the issue?

Also I have tried IGNORANCE V5 ROM but after installation it reboots again in twrp

Soft bricked

Hello everyone, today I installed TWRP recovery, it went fine and I am not new to install custom roms, custom recoveries, etc. but this got my phone messed up. It was working perfectly fine and then I turned it off in the night and in the morning, it just got stuck in a bootloop, and knowing me of course, I forgot to create a backup as I installed TWRp. So, is there any kind fellow out there that has a TWRP backup at hand for the ZE551ML?
Just to get the order correct...
Flashed TWRP - No problem
Rebooted to system - No problem
System worked?
Turned off phone
Bootloop on power on?
Is this a bootloop, or does it just sit on the Asus screen? Does it get to the actual boot animation, or are you on the splash screen?

I am getting to the boot animation with the gears turning and then error comes up and boots me into TWRP. The problem is, the Bootloader will not come up so I can do the fastboot flashing, TWRP comes up instead. It comes up and I didn't overwrite the bootloader with TWRP. Problem is I can't access fastboot commands.

Give me a few minutes. I'll get you a TWRP flashable boot.img zip.
Try flashing this in TWRP. You might need to sideload it onto your phone if you can't boot into system.

Thank you. But, it won't flash, I've tried about every option now. I think I'm just going to see if I can get a replacement. 2.19 was always causing me problems to install and then now that I finally got it on my phone, I couldn't install another 2.19 on top of it or downgrade. Guess this phone is done for until CM12 gets released. Thanks for the help but it seems it can't be recovered at this point.

If you lurk on these forums, there are some Intel flashing tools I've seen that can help you recover from a soft brick.
I am stuck too!
I was in stock recovery and did a cache wipe. It took forever and wouldn't come out of it so i powered it off and tried booting. It got stuck on bootloop. phone is asus zenfone 2 Z00A. It is intel chipset. please help me out.
the worst part is that i cant get into fastboot or recovery modes so i am completely stuck! please help me out.
when i try to get into fastboot mode with vol up+ power key it vibrates but nothing is displayed.
if i just power it on its stuck on bootloop.
i can't get into recovery and fastboot bcoz its at the same place.
can i use adb commands or fastboot commands somehow?
i can maybe use adb reboot recovery to get into recovery and then i can do a wipe and flash new stuff.
please help me out.
UPDATE: I found out u can use adb reboot recovery while on the asus bootanimation.
i tried adb reboot recovery and now getting a flashing android sleeping bot with error!
can't use adb or fastboot commands now though
now in even bigger mess. after using adb reboot recovery, i can't get to bootanimation either.
just stuck at flashing android sleeping bot with error.
can't get to bootloader or fastboot or anything!
Please any suggestions. I'm dying here to fix it.
I have a adb backup.
i couldn't take a nandroid backup. i just entred recovery and wiped cache first. after doing that i was going to flash twrp and then using twrp take a nandroid backup and flash a custom rom. but it got stuck at cache wipe and i powered it off and the whole mess.:
Finally entered bootloader with fastboot now working!

Just a reminder to everyone, never force shutdown the Phone during a cache wipe procedure, it takes a long time but it finishes.
When I did it on my ZF2, I thought it was taking too long, but I did a search here and found out about it taking long before it was too late.
I'm glad you could recover yours. :good:
I shut mine down because it took too long. Wouldn't start up again. Had to send it in for RMA. Asus Canada reset the OS. I'll never do that again.

Dude you can never use adb when in bootloader.
That's why you have fastboot.
just type
fastboot devices
you will get your device.
if you don't then download intel drivers. You will get them in asus website.
if you are stuck without custom recovery i would suggest you to download system image (~1.5Gb) from asus website.
just search for asus zenfone 2 and go to official asus site. in downloads tab you should find both drivers and system image.
download the latest one.
See if you can get into stock recovery.
when in bootloader press vol down and go to recovery mode.
you will see a sleeping android bot with error.
press power key + vol down you will get a list.
choose factory reset and then after wipe is complete choose sideload from adb.
connect your phone and then in adb type
adb sideload filename.zip
obviously place file in your platform-tools folder and replace filename with whatever its name is.
it will take a while and you will get back your system.

It took a lot of time though.
For anyone stuck,
I first got fastboot working. and then i flashed stock recovery and boot.
got into stock recovery and sideloaded system img into it.
After it booted back into asus stock rom i unlocked bootloader, placed twrp in sdcard and got straight into fastboot again installed twrp and then did a wipe and went ahead and flashed ROM and Gapps. Working fine.
Update:
To get to bootloader:
i was stuck in a bootloop.
When at asus boot animation i connected USB cable and quickly typed
adb reboot bootloader
which seemed to work for me. Though i couldn't get into recovery.
So i had to flash stock recovery again.

Stuck in Paranoid Android boot animation

My Google Pixel XL(NJH47B) has been stuck in the Paranoid Android boot animation for nearly two hours now. I followed teamandroid.com's guide to unlocking the bootloader and rooting my phone. It worked. I then installed PA using twrp using this KDCloudy's youtube tutorial uploaded on un 22, 2017 (I can't post links. sorry.). This also worked. My problems began when I attempted to root my phone using the same tutorial I followed before successfully installing PA. After installing SuperSU I rebooted my phone. When I attempted to reboot my phone I was taken to a screen that says "Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader.". When I pressed the power button to continue the booting I saw the google logo for 1-2 seconds and then I was taken to a ramdump screen. When I pressed the volume up and volume down button I was taken back to the previous screen. I didn't know what to do and ended up installing PA again. I followed the youtube tutorial's instructions once again and was greeted with the same screen telling me to lock the bootloader. When I wait for the screen to do disappear or if I press the power button I go into the PA boot animation. I've been in the PA boot animation for more than two hours now. I can go to the ramdump screen and from there I could access the bootloader. I'm fairly new to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The message telling you to lock the bootloader is completely normal if you are using the phone with an unlocked bootloader, which you need to do if you are rooted or running a custom ROM. You should have ignored that screen and ignored the power dump message and given the phone enough time to boot up. I would completely power down the phone. Give it a minute and try to boot up again ignoring any messages that might pop up. If your phone isn't booted up after 5 minutes the easiest thing to do is start over. Download the latest Google factory image from Google's website. Flash it using the flash-all.bat command. After you are successfully booted up on stock start over with booting into temp TWRP, flash TWRP zip, flash PA zip, flash SU zip and boot up ignoring any messages you see. After you have successfully booted into PA go back into the bootloader again, go into the temp version of TWRP again, flash the TWRP zip again and boot back into PA again. If you don't boot into your rom once and then flash the TWRP zip again your custom recovery will disappear and you will be back to factory recovery. You should be fine. It's pretty near impossible to hard brick this phone.

Go into TWRP and do a factory reset.
Once in a while when flashing a new ROM, I get stuck in the ROM's first boot process.
A factory reset always seems to cure that.
I flashed the stock image, enabled USB debugging, added SU and TWRP, and booted into TWRP. I flashed the TWRP zip, went back, flashed Ressurection Remix(not PA), went back, and flashed the SU zip. I rebooted. I am stuck in the RR boot animation. It's not looping, it's just been loading for two hours. I know how to get out though. I just would like to know what I've been doing wrong.

You're flashing the latest stock image and not the one from May, correct? There was a problem with SU and the May bootloader where the phone would bootloop if you didn't also flash an additional boot signature file. If that isn't your problem it still seems to be SU related since both times you bootlooped after flashing that file. Maybe there is a problem with the actual SU file you are flashing.
http://forum.supersu.com/topic/152/supersu-v2-82-release
I would try downloading it again.

Are you sure you even need to be rooted? Are you still in a bootloop or can you boot into Ressurection Remix?
As an alternative you could try the Pixel modified version of Magiisk to root. The official version doesn't work on the Pixel. But the shortcut for the modified Magisk version is actually in the Resurrection Remix rom thread.
You also mentioned flashing gapps but the Resurrection Remix flashing instructions say gapps are already built into the rom. You don't want to flash a gapps zip if gapps are built into the rom.
Resurrection Remix has pretty detailed flashing instructions. If you follow them you should be ok.
---------- Post added at 08:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:40 AM ----------
Look at the last post in this thread if you decide to try Magisk:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/help/magisk-adaway-root-help-t3631249
Also uninstall SU if you have it installed. It's not compatible with Magisk. You can uninstall SU using the free SU Manager app from the Play Store. I'm assuming you already have that app if you tried to root with SU because you need the SU manager app and the SU zip in order to manage root.

[HELP] Stuck at boot logo after TWRP restore

After I unlocked bootloader on my device, I did backup of all partitions (boot, data, recovery, system, system image) via TWRP first. Later, I rooted the phone and started removing bloatware. But I missclicked some important system app(s) and removed them along with bloat, making my ROM lose some of its functions. I thought it was no big deal as I did a full backup. So I rebooted into TWRP, wiped all partitions and then restored them. Since then I'm always stuck at HTC boot logo. I tried wipe and restore many, many times again, but I always get stuck at boot logo...
I can reboot into download mode, bootloader or TWRP with no problems. When in download mode, I can also see device on my PC via fastboot. My device is S-ON. Can someone someone tell me what did I do wrong / give me an advice to fix this?
