Play Music issues on AW 2.0 - Huawei Watch

Hi, i have a problem with Play Music app after AW 2.0 update. On 1.5 i was able to download music to my watch by selecting Play Music from watch and then "Play on wear" which showed all the albums i have on my phone or selecting Play Music from my phone and in the settings there was a Android wear section and there was "manage downloads" but neither is now available on 2.0 :/ So you can't download music to your watch anymore or is it changed and i just can't figure out how to do it now with 2.0? Please, can someone help me?
Btw, all my music are transferred by using PC from my original cd's to my phone so no albums bought from Google Play. Maybe after AW 2.0 update, downloading music to my watch only supports music bought straight from Google Play which would suck

I am very interested in this also since I use the smartwatch to listen to music directly from it with Bluetooth Headphones when I'm at the gym. If it doesn't work I won't be updating it.

Seriously guys, no one else uses Play Music to download some tracks to their Huawei Watch from phone? Why the hell it was changed in AW 2.0 since it worked so well on 1.5?

Yesterday I opened Play Music HW App.
Now it works really close to the one on the smartphone...
It is possible to stream music via wifi or to download music directly from your smartwatch. (wifi or bluetooth).
To download a song, a album or a Playlist you just need to press and hold for 1 second the icon of your selection .. .so the download will start..
I verified that if you are not charging your smartwatch it is possible that the download pauses...
This morning after charge I had the info on my smartwatch that all albums have been downloaded.. and they work without problems

It works differently now. Android Police summarized it:

Hi, searching for a solution I founded 2 options: if you use Google Play Music you have to create an account and suscribe for about 25 dollars/year and it works fine. Another option is to install Wear Media from the Play Store and it works like the old play music, you can download your music to your wacth, it also works fine. Wear Media also have the shuffle option!

Wear Media is an app you install both on the smartphone and on the watch? Is it free?

Well, that's really stupid :/ I hope Google brings back the sideloading feature with later updates. I'm definitely not gonna subscribe to Play Music! I have over 200 original music cd's that i rip to my PC and then transfer to my smartphones.

Hi! Yes its free! Download it to your phone and it installs in your watch. Then in your phone you select what music you transfer to your watch.

At least there are such skilled devs that can fix what mighty Google frakked up..

That app dosent work properly, it transfers a couple of songs and then it stops saying "connection problem".
Is there a proper working alternative, please?
Cheers

Help: Auto start music from PC after arriving home (detect phone is on network)

I was wondering if it would be posible to make my PC play music from a player or streaming site after it detects that I am home. I was thinking it would detect my phone is on my wifi network then start playing music. I tried Google but maybe I am just not using the right keywords.

You can do a lot more than just play music when you get home. Must have app for anyone with root.

[Q] HTC Connect question

Hi Folks,
Let me preface my saying I dont actually own the One X. I'm actually waiting for the HTC One to come out in the next few weeks to get that. I saw that both of these phones had HTC Connect DNLA feature with select Pioneer AV receivers.
My question is is HTC Connect compatible with Google Music player? Reason I am asking is because most of my music is not stored locally on my phone but rather in Google Play cloud and played through Google Music app. Can I still use Google Music and stream to my Pioneer receiver ?

yes of course I realize that I have Google Play Music on my current device. But what I'm referring to can be seen from the video below. You can skip ahead to about 45 seconds in.

"All you need to do is open your music player, play a song, and select menu and choose Pioneer receiver"
Is this ability there for the Google Music player?
i was wondering the same thing. I don't see it on the google player. OP or anyone else, if you've found a way to do this with google's stock player, we'd appreciate an update.

Newest Version of Google Play Music on Note 4 Doesn't Work

I have the latest update to Google Play Music and also have Google Play Music Access.
I cannot stream any songs in the app. If I downgrade to the version of Google Music that came stock with the phone, it works fine.
Is anybody else having this problem?
Not here on the latest version and im streaming via chromecast as we speak !! Don't know what to tell you other than unistall downloaded version clear cache on stock version and try to download playstore update again ..
Thanks for the reply and I have done all that. Streaming to Chromecast works fine as well, just not streaming on the phone.

[Q] audio books?

When I am at the gym or out running I normally listen to audio books or podcasts mp3 files. Does the music player on the watch handle resuming from last stopped positions? Can the positions be synced back to an audio player (any audio player) back to my smartphone? Thanks!
I did a lot of research on this and I don't think there are currently any out of the box solutions that do what you (and I) want. The closest thing I have found is to sideload "Material Audiobook Player" onto the watch and adb push your mp3 files there as I describe in this Github issue. The only thing missing is to sync back to the smartphone. This is a smart watch only solution. I love it though
Thanks for the work around! That was the last thing I wanted to know can be set up before taking the jump to buy the smartwatch!
Podcast mp3s should work no problem. You just have to upload them to Google music or download them to watch via Sony's software.

No problem, this was exactly the kind of information I was looking for when I was doing my research. I ended up buying anyway, and was worried for a bit that I wouldn't find anything. In the end, it's not a perfect solution but it works pretty well for me. Ideally, I would love it if Audible would sync the book onto the watch for offline listening but I seriously doubt that will ever happen.

There is now a better way. There is an app called "Wear Media" that handles transferring the files as well as playback (and saving your position in files). It's a wonderfully helpful app.

Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely give this a try, will be easier than using adb. Does it sync play position between phone and watch?

I use Wear Media to listen to books while I run and it is great! Unfortunately, I don't think it syncs play position between phone and watch.
To send a lot of files, install ES File Manager on your phone and sideload it on your watch, disable Bluetooth on your phone and use wifi to send files from your phone to your watch.
There are instructions to do the transfer on YouTube, just search "es file explorer wifi transfer".
Hope this is of some help!

[Q] Syncing Music

Hi,
Can someone help ? - I'm loosing my mind
I've had a smartwatch 3 for about a week and had nothing but problems....
I'm trying to copy music to it so that I can listen to the music and leave my phone at home.....
Im using a galaxy s4 (4.4.2)with the smart watch 3 (5.0.2.
I've added music to google play and downloaded it fine to my phone (turned of all data connections and played it to make sure)
In play music I have located the "download to android wear" option and ticked this.
No matter what I do the music does not transfer to the watch !
I've tried this with play lists and albums.
The phone has been restored to factory defaults and so has the watch !
The reason I brought this was due to the fact it had GPS and in built music playing ! - ideal for running !
Can anyone advise ? - this thing is getting close to being sent back !
Personally I use the walkman app from sony for playing music on the watch, you can sync playlists made on your phone with the walkman app to the watch, keeps it nice and separate from google music.
I got it working fine with Play Music, and use it for my runs without the phone. Let me try and talk you through what I did.
I have all my music on Play Music (not on my phone storage, or SD card). I created a separate playlist called Sony Smartwatch, and marked it for download on the Play Music app on my phone. I then ticked the Download to Wear option in the Settings. Nothing happened at first, but what I did notice is that it started to download songs to the watch as soon as I plugged in the watch to charge. It also gave me a notification on the watch that it was downloading music, including the number of tracks remaining to download. It does take a while, but now it's perfect. Hope this helps.
Oh, and by the way, I use GhostRacer at the same time to track my runs on stand alone GPS, and then it auto uploads to Strava. I find Ghostracer the best because when you go to the Start Screen on the watch, it shows in the top left the strength of the GPS signal and fix, so that you can be sure you have a signal before you start your run (as long as you stand outside in the open for about 30 seconds before, it should find a lock)
I think there may be some confusion with Play Music and how the music is stored. Even if you have music stored locally as mp3 files on your phone, they show up in Play Music, and I think that may be the problem. You need to have the music stored on the Google Play Servers (you need to use a PC to upload them) and then mark a playlist for download.
I'm enclosing some screenshots if it helps:

i'm starting to think the watch has a problem.
I've spoken to Sony tonight and reloaded the firmware on the watch but I appear to still have the problem.
The watch pairs with the phone fine - however when I open the android wear app you can see it connect and disconnect.
I downloaded some music from play on to the phone and then ticked the setting to download android wear but nothing is happening - even on charge.
When I look at the screen I notice the icon which says it's disconnected (cloud with a line through it) is on the screen !
Does your's remain connected at all times or have I got a bad unit ?
Thanks for any advice !
Paul
You may have a faulty device, or it may be something with the phone - you don't have any power saving apps or such like that are switching your Bluetooth on the phone on and off, depending on location, time of day etc etc... (Dunno if the S4 has it's own power saving stuff pre-installed) Check and see when the disconnected icon is up whether the phone Bluetooth is off at the same time, and obviously within range (the Bluetooth range is NOT that great).
ok......
so after weeks of tyring to get this to work I sent the watch back !
It took approx 10 days to be returned from sony's service center.
In my return package I listed the problems faced and things I'd tried !
The returned package from them contain a brand new watch as I guess they agreed it was faulty.
Charged it up - connected it to the phone - sync'd the music !
No connection drops between the phone and the watch at all !
In fact the watch just works as I expected nearly a month ago.
If you are reading this and are having same problems as I was (disconnected icon on watch all the time and not able to sync music) then PLEASE dont do what I did and waste vast amounts of your time trying to get it to work....
IT WONT ! - it is faulty.
Send it back to Sony and GET A REPLACEMENT.
Thanks for all your help and supoprt with this though
At least it wasnt me be dumb.

Hey Joachim
I was using the walkman app to sync my music but since the update the option to sync to wearable seems to have disappeared. Any ideas pls? The kgoogle play option is rubbish as there's no way to select what music I want. Some drum and bass for running then something less crazy for the warm down. I don' want old school motown when I 'm feeling the burn. lol

Samsung galaxy s4 won't push music to the smartwatch 3
Good evening, I just got my smartwatch 3 and I am having the same problem mentioned in this forum.
I have tried multiple things as found online and no success. Everything else seems to work in the watch and it seems to stay connected to my galaxy s4 but yet it gives me that google music play warning "Phone is disconnected. Reconnect to download tracks." Even though it's connected just fine by way of Android wear.
I would really appreciate some more guidance before I reach out to sony or send my watch back.
I really just bought it for this functionality and the gps for running.
Many thanks.

Would that make any difference in the music transfer between the phone and the watch?

So I synced the watch on my Nexus 10 and downloaded a Playlist on to the watch from Google play music. Everything works fine. It must be my S4 that is the issue. Somehow some file from the Google play services must have gotten corrupted. Is there a way to check and reload it without doing a factory reset on the phone?

There is an app called Media Wear. Works like a charm on the galaxy s4. And I can pick and choose the songs I want to push from my folders. It's genius. Simple but elegant and gets the job done.
Bigup for the developer of media wear!

Sorry for the confusion. Yeah, it worked just fine. A lot simpler to use. I think it can use a few more features like automatic synchronization of the folders but it does the job. Hope that it works for you.
Steps after you have downloaded the app:
1. Pick the folder with the music on your phone. Doesn't use playlist so just make a folder with your songs for the watch.
2. Pick the folder where you want to put the music in your watch.
3. Then click on the songs one by one and they will transfer to your watch. The phone app has an indicator that tells you they are transferring.
4. After you have transfer them, go to the watch, open the app, swipe left and you will see a folder. Browse to the folder where you put them and you will see the songs. Once you have your earphones connected, press on the song and boom. There is the music.
I'm surprised that google didn't make it this simple. Check it out and let me know if it works for you.
the older version Walkman app (version 8.5.A.0.6) is working for me quite well (Samsung Tab S sync to Sony Smartwatch 3) you just build a playlist, then toggle the Download to Wearable switch in that playlist and it syncs to the wearable via bluetooth. The music is also organized by playlist in the wearable app. Note: it wont sync if your wearable battery is around 30% or less.
