T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 on Verizon?

Hello, everyone. Is this possible? I am absolutely sick of this locked bootloader and nothing working crap. I saw where you can use T-mobile on a Verizon device but can you go the other way as well? I really miss Cyanogenmod!

You can use the VZW devices on tmo but not the other way around. VZW uses cdma for voice and Tmobile devices do not carry the bands necessary as they are proprietary.

First, there is no active CDMA radio in the N900T, so no, it's not just software. The Qualcomm SOC in this phone has the CDMA hardware permanently disabled.
Second, Verizon is very picky about CDMA devices they haven't sold, running in their network.
Since it would require a hack to enable the required bands (something not possible with this particular phone), there's no chance any non-native CDMA device would ever be allowed to register it's ESN on VZW's network.
Remember, the CDMA side does not use a SIM card, only the LTE side does.

What is the model number for the unlocked US LG G3?

I'm thinking of buying an LG G3, but I wanted to know what the USA unlocked (no carrier) model number is, and I've had trouble finding it. Any help?

Consumer Cellular. I have to buy my phones off-contract to use them with my carrier. It runs on AT&T's network.

Ok you'll probably want to use the T-Mobile variant and get it unlocked. You don't actually want to use an AT&T phone on an AT&T MVNO (like Consumer Cellular), because the intrusive AT&T bloatware doesn't leave you alone, but it's useless on anything other than AT&T itself (AT&T Address Book is particularly vile). T-Mobile's bloat is lower key and tends to go away if you want it to.
The T-Mobile variant (D851) will support HSPA on the frequencies Consumer Cellular uses. It also supports LTE Bands 17, 4, and 2, which Consumer Cellular/AT&T uses. The only problem might be LTE Band 5, which the D851 does NOT support. That's the downside, though thankfully AT&T doesn't seem to be using 850 Mhz for LTE all that much.

Thank you for that info! But also, are both models able to be rooted and bootloader unlocked? I'm a huge root user and I always uninstall bloat anyways. But I want to make sure that I can also unlock the bootloader so I could install a custom rom like CM11.

The T-Mobile version's bootloader is unlocked, the AT&T one is not. Both have been rooted at this point, but LG's big on not updating rooted devices, so I haven't bothered rooting. I don't know if the G3 will actively block updates on a rooted device like the G2 and OGP did, but it's certainly possible, and I won't get enough from rooting that I actually care about to make me want to try.

Only the T-Mobile model is bootloader unlocked. Every other model is locked down currently.

The AT&T D850's bootloader is locked. I have one. I'm also a huge fan of Rooting and loading CM11, but the new LG interface isn't bad enough to make me do all that. Unlike the Touch Jizz Crap I had on my S3 with Sprint. I couldn't root that phone and load CM11 fast enough on that device. It's a shame too, the S3 is actually a really nice phone for it's time. The G3 actually runs pretty smoothly and the bloat wares aren't really in my face all the time. The only one I find annoying is that freaking ATT address book crap which will some day force me to root this phone and kill it. Good thing that the Root method is already available for the Verizon and ATT variants of G3.
Some one said you won't be able to find the US unlocked version of the G3, he's right so far. I was on that boat too. I couldn't wait to get my switch to the new G3 and Amazon, Bestbuy, or even freaking going to the phone stores such as ATT or T-Mobile would sell it. I forgot to think of ATT and T-mobile as a service provider instead of a phone store because they obviously only wanted to sell plans and the phones are pretty much accessories of those plans.
Anyways, long story short, I got my unlocked G3 (ATT version) via ebay. Then I used it on Straight Talk. Everything works the way they are suppose to and I am getting ATT LTE speeds too, just at half the price. There are only 2 things that doesn't quite work. One is sending and receiving MMS. The other is visual voicemail. MMS thing, I still have to call straight talk up and deal with their infamous customer service. The visual voicemail thing, I just use youmail and it works ok and an alternative. Some ads here and there, and the interface isn't the best in the world, but at least it works. It's a shame that LG doesn't sell their own unlocked phones via their own website like HTC does.

No. Hardware is different.
Verizon has CDMA chipset and the TMO verison is a GSM chipset.

That's not true...
My phone is Fully unlocked and gets everything from Edge to Legit LTE.
My phone works. I just need it to work a bit better.

And the reason you want it to work better is because its not the correct version for the carrier you want it to work on.

The bands are almost identical with the Verizon unit missing 1700mhz on the HSDPA side.
Either way if you want it to work like its supposed to get the branded one. Unlocking will work but in most cases something is always missing.

Bottom line is ditch the unlocked verizon and go with a branded tmobile unit.

Since you seem to already know the answer then go ahead and flash a tmobile or any other gsm rom to your phone and see how fast you brick it.

Using CyanogenMod M9 with Verizon M8 on Tmobile
I have found that this works pretty well for me. CyanogenMod 11 M9 (I cant link to it, forum wont allow me to)
I have not had any issues with that build using a Verizon M8 on the Tmobile network.

Can I use the H/K Sprint M8 on T-Mobile and get LTE?

Looked around and not sure if this is even possible. Could I get a H/K M8, unlock it and use on T-Mobile's network to receive LTE? Thanks!

Is there a reason why you are looking at the Sprint version?
Its been argued whether the CDMA versions of the M8 are any different in hardware, but I haven't seen anything definitive either way. I'd err on the side of caution, assume the CDMA version is different hardware, and stay away from it. Buy any GSM version and you can convert it to work on T-Mobile (after s-off, unlocking the bootloader, etc.), no question there.

The only reason I'm looking for the Sprint version is because of the look. I like the dark back metal and gold upfront a lot. Sucks its an exclusive look only to Sprint. I read that you can flash the other non H/K models to have the same software so that is confirmed and all good.
Now I need to find someone who is using this Sprint model and can confirm it has the needed GSM radio(s) for TMO LTE.

I'm pretty sure that Sprint models are CDMA only. You can't use their phones on GSM networks. I don't think what you are trying to do will work. I may be wrong here, but I really doubt I am.

This is incorrect (that the Sprint variant does not work on GSM). Both the Verizon and Sprint variants support GSM and CDMA. Folk on here (including myself) tend to refer to them as "CDMA" for simplicity; but they are in fact also compatible with GSM, as well as HSPA, LTE.

Now the question is whether the difference between the GSM and "CDMA" variants are purely in software, or there is an actual hardware difference. Its been argued both way, and I haven't seen any proof either way (although my gut tells me the latter is the case). And the question relevant to the OP is whether the T-Mobile LTE bands can be "added" to the Sprint device by software.

I used a verizon LG g2 on T-mobile a few and the phone im writing on now is a verizon iPhone full lte but i dont know aboit the sprint versions

Verizon is going to let me choose between an unlocked phone and developer model phone. Which one should I choose? (in terms of ROM support, ease up update access, root...etc)
Nevermind, its unlocked version only. I get to try the phone out and see if it is still plagued by the blurry, color/light bleed/auto focus issue or not. If it is, they will let me get a Note 4

How is that going to work the dev and unlocked m9's are supposed to be gsm only meaning no cdma ? And the LTE bands for verizon are not supposed to be enabled on the non verizon versions of the m9 ?
Actually all the verizon m9's are unlocked because verizon does not sim lock phones any more they just lock the bootloaders and wont let htc dev unlock them.

Technically, All newer phones have both GSM and CDMA radios. The Qualcomm chips (from what I read) have both radios in them already. My dad has a GS4 (CDMA) and is on a GSM network in Israel. So, saying this, it only makes sense that it should be able to work. It's just weird
Ima tearing a new butthole into Verizon because of all the bullcrap they've told me (I don't know enough about the unlocked models), so you could probably count this as more crap. However, they did also offer a Galaxy Note 4 at a discount (on edge). If I get that for a total of 650 (instead of $600 for M9) or $600, should I? I love the M9's speakers with a strong passion, but I do like the bigger screen and higher resolution...let alone the better camera...I read into mods and of course with Knox and all..I dunno about root.

Ok so lets say all of them have cdma built in and your right, so then how do you get the bands enabled for verizon LTE on a gsm m9 such as the unlocked m9 sold by htc directly ?
The posts about this on the m8 all required s-off to enable other bands such as enable the bands on a verizon m8 to get Tmobile LTE and then people still had issues having to toggle airplane mode all the time to get the Tmobile LTE back working on their verizon m8.
I had tried and tried to convert my verizon m8 to a dev edition like people did on the gsm versions which they all could but no one ever figured out how to get it done.
So my ultimate question is how would they get verizon LTE bands enabled on a gsm based carrier unlocked m9 that is not s-off ?

And I think the sammys have the bands enabled for basically all LTE in all the major carriers like the nexus 6 so they can run on any network.
I think they should require all phones to work on any network just like the nexus 6 so one version can work on any network, I guess we can dream right that would be my only complaint with htc that they dont enable the bands for all networks here in the USA.

1. You are probably right about the T-Mobile thing, but it IS T-mobile. I don't even think they, or sprint can keep up with the big boys. So If I got the GSM unlocked...and did the paypal buy over a year option, I wouldn't re-activate on Verizon for quite a while. I plan on going to Israel so I don't need a CDMA device for a while...Even so, the M9 has the bands for all of the networks, last time I checked. Saying that, I will already have S-OFF because it would be a dev edition, or the unlocked version that I would just S-OFF through HTC Dev. Saying ALL of this, even if I do come back to USA and CAN'T be on Verizon (whom I think is better then ATT), then I could go ATT. Ya know? That is IF I came back to the USA. So what do you think now? (With more information about the situation).
