Question for Unyaffs

As you know, we got a Chinese froyo rom for DEFY but it's degoogled. I'm tring to add google services for that.
My plan is unpack SBF file and add mdpi-gapps then pack again.
Now, I've already unpacked the SBF file sucessful and got the CG39.smg. but I strucked on unpacking the CG39.smg, unyaffs.exe doesn't work on my windows7. I need help or anybody can run unyaffs on your Linux surounding?

Thanks. Here's my steps:
1. Download 2.2ROM from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895448
2. Download unyaffs.exe from this page: http://jiggawatt.org/badc0de/android/index.html
3. Download MotoAndroidDepacker.exe from http://modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530781
4. Use MotoAndroidDepacker.exe unpack 2.2 sbf file, then you got CG39.smg
5. Unpack CG39.smg by unyaffs.exe, you should get /system folder if everything goes well, then just delete or add anything you want and pack a new SBF at last.
For more support of unyaffs, please visit http://code.google.com/p/unyaffs/
Yes, I did that in the CMD line which running as administrator. But it always shows "stop working"
Would it be possible to flash new/recompiled boot.img/system.img via recovery then?
Or partitions with digital signatures should be also updated?
i#m downloading the files, but it will need some hours; very slow line.

Yes, it's okay. I've flashed a recompiled froyo sbf with a old CG39 which from 2.21UK sbf successful, of course this rom cannot running but it's a good start. Next, we need to unpack the CG39 and modify that.

I've tried to make a mix sbf-pack base on 2.21UK and CG39 which from Chinese Froyo and root that, but failed, I can put this home made rom into my phone, but cannot boot~ ^_^

I put up a mirror for the rom here, 30mbit upload in Denmark:
Let me know if you guys need hosting for project files or roms, we need to get rooted froyo for the Defy!
the depacker didn't work here. sorry. don't know why.
I just had an idea... I wonder if you could extract the froyo Dialer app and add it to the 2.34.1 rom.
Well, there's only one way to find out.
unyaffs never worked for me with CG39. I've tried that when I first got the phone. My guess is that it's not pure yaffs filesystem image, or that the unyaffs code it's buggy. I've tried modifing it prior to compliling, but all I got was different errors, from Stack Overflows to program hardcoded messages like the filesystem was not properly built.

Yes, I have same result. Fortunately, we got the gapp update packge from MOTO, so every google services run well on Chinese Froyo now, you should try it.
Is it possible to use this froyo kernel in an AOSP froyo build?

Well crap. If we need root in order to pull those, how would we give chainfire the recovery.img so he can make a root?
---------- Post added at 05:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:54 PM ----------
Sorry to double post, but I believe using adb in ubuntu I can pull the recovery.img. Just need to know where to look/file name. Searching "recovery" pulls up quite a number of files. any suggestions?
Recovery partition is located on this block "/dev/block/mmcblk0p10" so if u can pull the block and convert into an img format your good!!! Plus you might wanna pull "/system/etc/recovery-resource.dat" and rename it "recovery-resource.zip

I literally had just discovered that mmcblk0p10 is the recovery. Although adb pull of that file fails, it will allow me to adb backup that file. But when it says backup complete on my tablet, the file is nowhere to be found on my computer. not sure where to go from here. Maybe I'm not doing adb backup correctly? Here is the script I entered:
adb backup /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/mmcblk0p10 C:\backup.ab
But no dice. Backup.ab does not exist in C:/
Edit: found backup.ab after a very long search of my C:\.
Now I just need to find a way to "decrypt" it and convert it.

GRUB2 for lumias

Hello everyone!
I compiled GRUB2.02_beta3 for armv7.
Added some fixes to make selection possible.
for its work you need unlock bootloader! (see wpinternals)
Time to go install your favourite distro....

It is a multiboot bootloader. You can look it up and read more about it if you search GNU Grub on the internet.
It is the bootloader of choice normally for linux distros. Ever installed a dual boot Windows/Ubuntu system, and have seen the boot menu appear to choose between Windows and Ubuntu?

That was an irony. Currently and in the future, there is no need of GRUB or any other bootloader for this almost dead platform, no one will port Android or any other OS'es for Lumias, it has practically no sense at all and almost impossible (because of lack of drivers source code etc.)

you must mount partitions, and follow the instructions
first need to make sure that EFIESP partition accessable from MainOS \ EFIESP
then unpack archive in MainOS root, and run as ADMINISTRATOR bcd.bat (like you do for phone)
My bricked 530 cant go in mass storage mode. I will try to mount efiesp.bin and apply grub inside, then flash this partition.

For your bricked 530...what mode is it in that you are able to flash? Does it boot to UEFI? I have two 1320s stuck in emg QC-9008 mode that if I could get past the signature check I could save them, I flashed the wrong ffu and it won't boot since the RKH does not match what was flashed. I may have to get an ATF box just to salvage them but don't want to yet...

My lumia530 is unable to find a bootable option after i activated reset protection
So i think that with grub installed i will find a way to browse to boot specific boot file.
First, after unlock bootloader he cant enter in mass mode. And two.... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75197448&postcount=280

in your case i think you need check bootarm.efi and bootmgfw.efi and bcd ... (maybe some else because I can't tell about reset protection)
because grub running by windows boot manager.
for this I have two reasons:
first it's more safer.
second it's qualcomm bootloader wont start grub directly.(can't find boot option, when I replace bootarm.efi)

if I get you right,
bcdedit /set {ID} device partition=D:
bcdedit /set {ID} path partition=D:\something
but for select item, need disable custom actions and need hardware camera button
I did few test.
Windows rt install.wim unpacked to SD without integrating any drivers: error INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE.
Windows rt boot.wim as winpe from SD without integrating any drivers: boot OK (thouch didn't work).
Windows phone 8 ffu converted to vhd and copied all files(include data, efiesp) to sd(one partition) without editing registry: boot failed (no boot logo, no bsod, just black screen)

[ROOT]Stock and Magisk patched boot images

Until TWRP is available for this device, root must be done by flashing patched boot image via fastboot. I'm still in the waiting period for the bootloader unlocking, but I prepared files in the meantime. Maybe someone will find them useful. Attached are stock boot and patched image with Magisk 21.1, EEA ROM version. Just unzip them and flash from fastboot.
Full version: V12.0.6.0.QJSEUXM_20201117
Edit: patched boot image reuploaded, the previous one didn't work (at least on my phone). This one has been tested and is working fine.
hello,
having the EEA version 12.0.6.0, as a boot patch can I immediately give the modded boot, in fastboot?

You can flash patched boot image directly, or just hotboot it (fastboot boot patched_image.img) and install Magisk from Magisk manager.

Which files on which partition with what kind of permissions? RO partitions must be remounted as RW, but it's not always possible and using Magisk is usually a better and safer approach.

I keep my system partition RO so I can apply OTA updates, so I haven't tried it. You could try another app (for example Total commander), but you will be probably out of luck because of Android 10 limitation. Read more detailed explanation here https://android.stackexchange.com/q...m-partition-locked-to-read-only-in-android-10
I would suggest using Magisk module for system modifications.
hi
i tried other app manager like root explorer and es explorer, but the result is the same. i also installed magiskhideprops module, but my phone is not supported as fingerprint yet
