3Minit Battery Mod - Google Pixel XL Themes, Apps, and Mods

This thread is for those who wish to have 3 Minit battery mod on their phone! Steps to install:
1. Install the 3 Minit Battery Resources.apk first like you would any other app.
2. Take the system ui mod for the rom you are running (VERY IMPORTANT ONLY FOR THE ROM YOUR RUNNING) and delete the name so it just reads systemui (e.g. ResurrectionRemix7.1.2systemui.apk should read systemui.apk when you install it)
3. Save your original systemui.apk somewhere on your phone for safe keeping!
4. Copy and paste the new modded systemui.apk over your existing systemui.apk
5. Your systemui will most likely f/c and go black then come back up. Once it does change permisons to rw-r-r and your done
6. Enjoy your new battery mods!
7. Go to the Google Play Store and look up 3 minit battery, you will see an app for purchase if you like,it has thousands of cool batteries!!
So far it is just Resurrection Remix that this can be used on, so please do not try to load a systemui for another rom. As I get more systemui's sent to me I will post for different roms!!

Important things to remember:
1. Only pick the systemui for the rom your running. Anything else will cause major problems and I am not responsible for something if it goes wrong.
2. Save your exsisting systemui in a folder on your phone just in case problems.
3. ALWAYS do a back up prior to doing any system mod. It is like hell trying to get back in your system if you have a systemui f/c, trust me.
4. If you would like the 3 Minit Battery mod on your rom then send me your systemui untouched and unmodded and I will post it back here for everyone to enjoy!

I can't get this to work on pixel dust rom. I followed the instructions to a t? When I replaced system ui.apk it force closed but I couldn't get back to change permissions on the new system ui as the phones ui froze any ideas?

The systemui listed so far is only for resurrection remix 5.8.3 7.1.2 if you want your ROM to have the mod and it doesn't have it already then you will have to pm me your systemui

Archangel I couldn't figure out how to attach a file in PM so I just attached it here. Hope that is ok. Thanks for all your hard work!!

Here you go brother. Remember, install the minit resources apk first or it wont work. Then copy and paste the new systemui.apk over your old one, it will f/c then should come back, change permissions rw-r-r,,then download the 3 minit battery.apk from the Play Store and chose your battery, enjoy!

So I rebooted my phone and now I can't change the battery icon. I have the paid app and I changed it initially but after reboot app won't let me change the battery icon only the size of the default 3minit battery icon. Any ideas how to fix this?

So you placed the new systemui over the old then changed permissions correct. What ROM is this for? I have run this on every ROM the same way since the pixel came out. Hmmm I have the paid 3 minit battery app too and I can always change my battery. Have you altered your status bar size any?

Not that I know of. I did a dirty flash of pixel dust to get it back up and running so I'm good for now.

I compiled this a diff way if you are up to try again? I got a huge amount of warning for translations which is not a big deal,,most Google apps have no default translations defined but they still work fine.

I'll give it a try. I flashed a despair nomin.zip that's the only change I made when I lost the ability to change the battery icon.

So you got the minit battery icon first then it wont let you change to any other minit battery? If thats the case then its prob the layout width/height,,,if so I have one more Systemui for you to try if the last one doesnt work.

[APP] 'ODEX ME': Odexing deodexed roms for a BOOST IN PERFORMANCE

Hello Galaxy Nexus Xda Users!
Informations:
Here is a simple apk to odex automatically, easily and securely deodexed roms.
This apk has been coded by the famous Paul Obrien from Modaco Roms and Forums.
This guy is just a genious.
The original apk has been done for Galaxy S II but it works on Galaxy Nexus (tested working). --> Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215271
Paul is even using it in his own Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 Custom Rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487056
But I tested the apk on other 4.0.3 deodexed roms that you can find in the development section of the Galaxy Nexus and it is working perfectly (Aokp odexed rom is wonderful...)
Odexing a deodexed rom is giving you a boost in smoothness (you can see it in the launcher or in scrolling through system apps), performance and battery.
It gives you the flexibility to have a custom rom with modified system, framework and design AND all the tweaks that come with a custom rom in addition to the performance of an odexed stock rom.
To use it:
1) make sure you have a custom rooted rom / kernel with init.d support (scripts must be able to run at boot: it is a folder in /system/etc). It is very important or it won't run pre-boot scripts... Thanks to open1your1eyes0 who remarked it.
You can try this useful application to add init.d support to your ROM / kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849
2) make sure that you don't have transparent status bar before odexing or you will loose your bar after odexing... (for AOKP users for example). Thanks to frantic912 who noticed it.
3) simply put the apk in /system/app folder with a file browser like "Root Explorer" (the folder must be in RW mode to copy the file)
4) do a nandroid backup in cwm and / or titanium backup of all your apps (even the system ones like Gmail)
5) then go to the launcher
6) tap "Odex me"
7) follow the instructions
It will:
1) reboot your phone
2) odex all the system staying on a black screen or on the Google screen a bit longer than normally (but it's normal)
3) put a ".odex" file with each app in /system/app
4) reboot again
5) go back to home
--> You will then see your boost in smoothness!
For people who are not convinced: check that: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...e-difference-between-odexed-and-deodexed-roms
To see if it worked:
- Go to /system/app folder and see if there is a ".odex extension" for each system apk.
I attached the apk to this thread for ease of use.
Please write here your tests, opinions, questions, and thank Paul (and me for giving you this info ) for this wonderful and simple apk.
P.S. Please read reports from other users in the thread before trying the apk as some users seem to loose their status bar if they set transparency effects or some of them are having "force closes" if the rom they are using is too much themed...
P.S.2. Pay attention please, as androidphone2012 intelligently noticed, this apk can only odex *.apk files. The system framework is not odexed by it. To odex the framework too, please use the following script instead. It odexes *.apk files and Framework *.jar files too.
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2278586
If you already ran the apk to odex apk files, do not flash that zip: re-flash your ROM, GApps and MODs you're using and then flash the zip.
For your information, I tested the CM10.1 zip from the thread on my AOKP latest nightly build version and it worked flawlessly.
Looks cool. Nothing is attached to your post though.
Can I use it on other devices? (Galaxy si900)
I don't think this works. It rebooted and when I booted back and checked, there were no .odex files in the /system/app folder. Has anyone else got it working?
FYI, tested on 4.0.4 stock deodexed ROM.

Did not have init.d support. Very important or it won't run pre-boot scripts!

Thanks. I knew that. Just forgot to post it.
I modified OP to inform about that.

So apparently I spoke to soon...
The app ran this time but after the reboot and odex process, my SystemUI wouldn't load and I ended up with no notification bar up top or any soft-keys at all. Also it was back to stock wallpaper. Not sure what happened, it looked like everything went through fine but I guess my SystemUI is borked.
Recovering from backup now...
I am not sure what caused this issue. I did have modded soft-keys and battery icon however, but I don't see why this would matter if a lot of the custom ROMs have modded soft-keys anyway. I would like to point out this was on stocked deodexed 4.0.4 ROM. If this works for anyone else, I would surely like to know. MAKE SURE you backup before trying.
Thank you Flolep
It works great for me, but I don't know why Gmail disappeared. But it's still in /system/app, so I tried to install and I get this : Application not installed

It's a system app so you can't "install" it. It has to be flashed into the ROM. I have a feeling this app is not exactly the most reliable in working with all the apks.

Well. I didn't have any problem with it... Gmail was still there and my framework and system ui didn't have any problem after reboot...
I tried with modaco 4.0.4 rom that is near stock 4.0.4 deodexed rom and I tried with heavily customized aokp latest aokp build 25 rom, configured for my needs, battery percent, toggles, navigation controls in blue, etc, etc, and all worked seamlessly...
I add to first thread to do a nandroid backup before launching the process.

But I definitely will try after back from my vacation, wouldn't risk to brick my device on a trip ;p
I finally found the problem...
I forgot that the custom ROM I'm using needs a sort of modded Gapps pack to be install via CWM.
I think here is the issue.
Worked fine for me. GSM GN on AOKP B25. Just make a backup in cwm before you do it. Worst case scenario: it boot loops, you pop the battery, boot into recovery and restore.
Do you know the muffin man?

Can you use ROM kitchen for US GS III?

Can I use ROM kitchen to change battery icon etc safely? I did it for Galaxy S and wondering if experience will be the same with G III.

Yes, I just did it, but there are a few tweaks/gotchas...
1. You can only do some limited things with the kitchen (I just did battery). The reason is that if you are messing with anything in the twresframework.apk - the ones on our phones are too big (over 3MB) and will be rejected by the kitchen for now. I was only able to update the regular resframework and systemui files.
2. The resulting UOT file will not work as is in CWM (gives the Status 0 error). So I followed their suggested workaround:
WORKAROUND for recovery error (Status 0):
1. Unzip your ROM and find
META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary file
2. Put this file in the UOT zip (overriding UOT's file)
For this, I actually borrowed the CWM script from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732262 and took its update-binary file and copied over into the UOT one.
After that it installed correctly, and I know have a new battery icon!
Please note that doing this changed my status under the download mode to CUSTOM, but it did not increase the Binary Counter. I suspect because when you start mucking with key system files like the framework, it's got to account for this.
Can you share your battery icon?

Sure. This is specifically for the ATT i747 (UCALEM) - and using on other variants is almost guaranteed to be trouble since were dealing with framework files

To be honest, I'm just used to uploading both frameworks and the systemui whenever using the kitchen. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if just copying over the systemui would do it and the framework is untouched stock.
Whenever I used the kitchen on the past I also would use the latest framework of my phone to preserve any tweaks also made to it. You're more than welcome to try manually patching just the systemui and retain your custom framework.
Each phone I've had seems to move certain components to different files which again is why out of habit I use the frameworks but could just be a placebo.

Just FYI, I'm running DietICS ROM.
I had previously used ROM Toolbox to change to a custom battery icon.
Then I just now flashed your battery icon.
Now I've lost my toggle menu.
Tried a fix-permissions & clear davlick but it didn't help.
If the dev for that ROM made their own customizations to either the framework or systemui flashing this may break them because these are from the stock ROM. To get it back your may need to re flash either the of the original files from the ROM you are on.

So, I spent past couple of hours trying to port the recent apps mod to the PA and CM but it didn't work out :crying:
I was able to do the changes and compile the SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk but when I flash the zip, the SystemUI just keeps crashing on the boot..
"SystemUI has stopped working."
I was using this guide:

Well, this guide has some problems..
It says:

There is no such folder "layout-port" in res..
Then I checked OPs mod which he supposedly created using the same guide...I decompiled his SystemUI.apk but guess what...there wan't any "layout-port" either...
Then I thought that I should change that in the "layout" folder itself...(and later I found out that the OP has done the same)
But still..no gain Force Closes everytime
There was one more problem that there wasn't any id "android:id="@id/recents_clear" in the ids.xml..but I solved that problem.
I can upload the zip which force closes if anyone wants to test stuff too

The think is that in layout and layout_land you need to remove the whole code and paste his...the thing is that if you compare the 2 codes you can see that alot of change in recents code but you remove alot of code existing..im pretty sure thats causing the FC's i try with a guide for 10.1 and i still have this problem...systemui refuse to load even when the phone reboots properly..so maybe if we exclude the fact that we can copy and paste...the code there is old and cm has added a lot of stuff in it after that...so we need someone who knows to check the code and apply it to a newest version of cm...
and remember those guides are for cm if your trying to do it on a PA or SLIM or anyother heavy tweaked rom you will mess a hell lot more things!

[MOD] Remove Location Icon ( UPDATE: 12/17/2013)

Since there was not one posted i decided to post a Remove Location Icon flashable zip file for those who just decide to stay stock de-bloated.
The update script is by andybones, and i modified the apk.
This will work with stock, and deodex, roms as long as you have no other modifications are made in the systemUI.apk
I also included the stock file as well.
Flash in recovery and wipe the dalvik-cache, reboot, SUCCESS !
There are Three files. The Remove_Location.zip will work for both odex and deodex roms.
For odex roms it deletes the odex file and replaced it with a deodex version. It will work just fine don't stress out about it....
The other two are stock deodex and stock odex. If you want to go back make sure you use the right one!
UPDATE(12/17/2013): I added the 2.10.605.1 update mod..

Not sure what Location Icon you are talking about?

Since there was not one posted i decided to post a Remove Location Icon flashable zip file for those who just decide to stay stock de-bloated.
The update script is by andybones, and i modified the apk.
This will work with stock, odex, roms.
I also included the stock file as well.
Flash in recovery and wipe the dalvik-cache, reboot, SUCCESS !
Enjoy

He's talking about that annoying GPS symbol that Verizon decides to add next to the signal bars.

so this doens't actually remove the icon. it just makes it a clear icon. now my Beats logo is floating in space. I'm gonna undo this

I corrected this problem, and the code is now fixed !
Is it still a blank icon that just now AFTER the Beats icon, or is it really space freed up for other notifications?
I don't have that behavior myself on my device after flashing as seen in the posted screenshot. Anyone else ?

Edit:
Note that even though the modification to the systemUI.apk smali code should set the icon to a with of zero, the actual location of those icons are in the same file
Those were technically removed on my first attempt, which yielded the blank space between the beats icon and 4G symbol or whatever else. That b/c I didn't take into account the smali code in systemUI.apk
Now on my device theI just applied the systemUI.apk modification which just set the width of the ' clear ' location icon to zero which made the space disappear. I have tested this several times by replacing the original systemUI.apk and systemUI.odex files and then re-flashing the modified one and it functions as shown in the OP screenshot.
I also compared the MD5 checksum with the one I flashed vs the one I downloaded from here in case i accidentally messed up and they are identical.

Are you running a custom ROM?
No, stock. Using Xposed for mods.

I was going to say, that those status bar mods are not stock
The SystemUI.apk holds some of the icons for the statusbar, and the systemUI.apk hold the codes that control the blank space between the 4G icon and the beats icon that is where the blank space was.
Those are the files that were modified by me, the first being accidental leaving the space between the beats icon and the 4G symbol, and the later resolved the space
Either way, I had the space previously with your first mod and flashed the updated zip and the space is gone. Thanks for the fix!

Cool, no problem, I am glad it is resolved .
I like the clcok and battery mods there. I wish there was an easy way to do that while keeping the stock ROM. there's no custom ROMs for this phone yet that I've fallen in love with. Bone Stock was good for a While, but even that one I found myself going back to true stock ROM and just debloating it myself.

I would have to agree with you here.
Now IF Verizon would get the message about bloatware maybe some of us might not need to root!
May I also request a WiFi notification removal mod ? Thanks !

I'm running just stock and the mods couldn't be simpler with the Xposed framework installed.

I know what it is n nvr fooled with it atm. Not like I'm opposed to it , I enjoy trying to figure things out on my own ... Now only if I could understand the sense coding to make a transparent Rosie bar ...

I concur. Only cause I dunno how to do this stuff. Newt removed the nag in his sense rom... Is there a way for me to find that part and flash it? Sticking with stock until I see a compelling rom.

THANKS TO SAMMY AND ALL THEIR WHITENESS, I HAD TO EDIT THE ANDROID POLICY JAR IN ORDER TO INVERT THE POWER MENU SCREEN AND AS MOST OF US KNOW, 99.9% OF CUSTOM ROMS HAVE ALL KINDS OF EDITS DONE IN THERE AND SINCE THE POLICY JAR INCLUDED IN MY ZIP IS BASED ON STOCK, IT WILL BREAK WHATEVER THE ROM CAME WITH. FORTUNATELY.

That's because your rom is not deodexed. Please read the whole OP. I said that these are for deodexed stock. It was the first warning in the OP.
If you're on a odex rom you will have to delete or rename the odex file for each of the apks included in the zip you flashed.
