Stuck on boot logo - Moto M Questions & Answers

Hi.
I tried to root my phone (XT1663):
- fastboot oem unlock (there was no need to enter the code on motorola webpage,...)
- flash boot + recovery (like in https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-m/how-to/bootloader-unlock-custom-recovery-t3565074 )
- rebooted to system and everything looks good...
- then rebooted to TWRP and flash supersu ( https://download.chainfire.eu/1021/SuperSU/SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip )
- then tried to reboot to system, but without any success, it stucks on boot logo
- then tried to "fix" this problem and accidentaly wiped system partition
Have you any idea how to fix it? I googled a lot, but without success (maybe wrong keywords). If I can have root wit WORKING phone, it will be great No need for custom rom, just root with stock rom

[Q] Soft-bricked One-V?

I seem to have soft-bricked my one-v and could really use some pointers.
The things I did to get the phone bricked:
- Unlock the bootloader
- Try to flash miui.
Since this attempt the phone only boots until the "quietly brilliant" screen appears (with a red "This build is for development purposes only..." warning, but I guess this just indicates the bootloader is unlocked right?)
Since then I have installed ClockWorkMod recovery image. This seems to work, I can get in recovery mode and do things like install specific zip files from sdcard.
Unfortunately whatever ROM I try to flash the result is the same: boot until the quietly brilliant screen and then nothing.
For instance, I tried to flash shpongle_primou_20130521.zip (the One-V is the GSM version) using the following steps:
- Download the above zip file
- Extract boot.img
- Copy the above zip file to sdcard using another phone (cannot boot with the one-v so I cannot use it to write to sdcard)
- Put the sdcard back into the One-V
- Start the phone in fastboot mode and connect to USB
- use fastboot to flash boot.img (flashboot flash boot boot.img)
- Switch to recovery mode
- Use ClockWorkMod to flash the zip file
- Reboot the phone
Result: hang in quietly brilliant screen. If I just let the phone alone it seems to reboot every 5 minutes or so.
I fear that I am doing something stupid due to a lack of understanding of some basic concept. Can you guys give me some pointers on how to proceed to unbrick the phone?
it seems u have not flashed the correct kernel for shpongle (the boot img inside zip doesnt work)
try this kernel (ONLY FOR SHPONGLE) http://www.mediafire.com/download/vj8vv8hjyhzg3xv/boot-HELLBOY-42-201305202359.img
Also do factory reset from recovery everytime u flash a rom( u can backup data via titanium backup)
Also, your command command should be fastboot flash boot boot.img.
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
Awesome, I got SHPONGLE to work. Installing the correct boot.img and clearing all data did the trick.
Now I can try to install miui again but I have a stable situation (and backup ) to work with.
Thanks a lot!
I have the same issue with my HTC one V but it is the virgin mobile version ( I live in the east coast of U.S.A.)
Will I be able to use the same solution?
which is the right ROM and Kernel for me?

Device bricked? No adb-access

Hello!
My Oppo Find 7 (international) seems to be bricked.
I'm on stock ROM COS 1.2.5 with stock recovery 1.0
After booting it stuck in the Setup-Wizzard with "settings has stopped"-Loop.
Unfortunately in stock-ROMs the USB-debugging is disabled, so i can't acces via adb fastboot to flash other recoverys.
And cause of the loop i can not enable USB-debugging...
The recovery (stock 1.0) let me only flash 1.2.5, no other ROMs work.
Things that work:
- entering fastboot (but no access via adb as i wrote)
- entering recovery and execute "zip from sd" (while sd means only internal sd here)
- normal boot to the f****** Setup-Assistant, enter PIN. At slect Language the "setting has stopped"-loop starts
- while the device is in loop, i can access the internal and external SD-card via PC, copy and delete files works
Please, has anybody an idea what to do ?
Thanks to all
Marco
Since you can get into fastboot, download a custom recovery, go to fastboot, type
fastboot flash recovery x
Replacing x with the full name and extension of the file, and install a ROM. Alternatively, if you want ColorOS, try downloading 1.2.4i, and installing it through the stock recovery. Then you can update from there
Hmmmm....
Positive! At this moment i learned that USB-debugging is needed for adb-access on a booted device, not for fastboot-access
Yes, i could flash TWRP via fastboot (puuhh, not bricked)
THANKS !!
Now i can mess around the "settings has closed"-Loop, wich is still in place.
(No wiping fixes the problem, even 1.2.1 nor 1.2.3 or whatever)
But i'm on the road again and can check out fixes.
Thanks again!!
That's weird. Did you ever install custom ROMs before having this issue?
Did you try formatting System in TWRP? But be careful, when you format System you have to install stock Color OS BEFORE rebooting your device. That means stay in TWRP after you format and install the ROM, then reboot.

Phone always boots into twrp not able to see one plus boot logo.Pls help

After that I flashed oxygen os 4.0 with USB using twrp.Installation is successfull. But when I rebooting the system it still boots into TWRP screen.I am not able to see one plus boot logo as it always boots to twrp screen even after successfully installation.I am wondering why even after succesfull flashing still the phone always boot into twrp screen.Pls help in resolving the issue

Click to collapse
1 ) flash stock recovery and sideload full zip of 3.2.8 oxygen os
2) boot to system
3) reboot to stock recovery
4) sideload full zip of 4.0.1
5) boot to system
6) boot to bootloader and flash twrp -28 recovery (adb fastboot flash)
7) after flashing boot to twrp recovery from bootloader
8) flash SU SR2 v2.79 and boot to system

Albus failed rooting, need help - SOLVED

Solved. Just install as described in https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-play/development/twrp-3-2-0-0-moto-z2-play-albus-t3715660
(before that I restored recovery, sys and boot from backup)
Still TWRP doesn't work... but who cares
Hi,
I tried to root my Moto Z2 Play but I somehow failed.
I can still boot into fastboot and boot twrp from there. but that's all that works.
I tried booting into recovery from twrp which was booted via
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
but this results in "no command".
Everything else just shows "your device has been unlocked and can't been trusted". Cannot turn off phone.
I followed this guide
https://devsjournal.com/how-to-root-moto-z2-play.html
but the downloads linked were down, so I tried to replace with more official looking downloads (see below)
I did these steps:
- unlock bootloader - I think this succeeded
- temporary boot twrp from fastboot
- wipe dalvik, data and cache
- backup everything except what I wiped
- other than the guide said, I did not install anything as I didn't have the files on the SD card
- I accidentally rebooted and the device started encrypting again
- I booted fastboot and flashed twrp-3.2.3-0-albus.img (by Junior Passos) into recovery
- I tried around with booting and finally was in TWRP again
- wiped again because of encryption (twrp said is was able to decrypt with standard password?)
- installed universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
- installed Magisk 20.4 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
- after that booting did not work any more
- installed https://www.themefoxx.com/dm-verity-forced-encryption-disabler/ version 6.0 (guide mentioned version 5.1 from a different download) in the hopes this would solve the problem, but no.
Any idea how to recover? how to successfully root and TWRP?
Which partitions did the install-zips modify, so which backups should I restore?
thanks

TWRP logo bootloop and inability to install system

Hello,
I have a strange problem with Galaxy A5 2017 after installing twrp + lineage 18.1. I will explain the problem in sub points.
1) in January on stock software I installed (according to instructions from XDA forum) root, twrp (via ODIN) and bypass with memory decryption. Then I installed Lineage 18.1, Gapps, Magisk and debloater on it to remove unnecessary apps.
2) The phone worked fine until mid-April. Some update was installed and the phone died.
3) The phone wouldn't boot up after the update and only the TWRP logo was looping (logo kept flashing).
4) the phone couldn't boot up, but after I found the only way to get the system to boot up was to enter command "adb reboot bootloader" from windows console. The system booted, but after another reboot unfortunately it was the same thing - the TWRP logo was looping.
5) I managed to upload Lineage Recovery via ODIN, but unfortunately this didn't change anything. Phone was booting to recovery only (but it was working). I tried to update via ADB Sideload from recovery - also without success. Interestingly, the only way to fix it was to fully format with the system partition from recovery and re-upload the system. This worked, and Lineage booted into the android interface, but on the next reboot I unfortunately only had the Lineage loading logo visible for 10-15 minutes - then a reboot into recovery. I had to repeat the formatting and re-upload the system.
6) Interestingly, when I used the combination - lineage recovery, full format, twrp 3.6.1 (via ODIN) - TWRP booted normally and I could install LineageOS. The system would only boot once, and after the next reboot the TWRP logo would loop again.
7) The last problem I noticed is that if I load Lineage system, gaaps package and magiska via TWRP or Lineage Recovery, the system will never boot - either it will loop the logo (if using Lineage Recovery) or the phone will not load the system, it will reset and loop the TWRP logo indefinitely (if using TWRP recovery).
Does anyone know a solution how to restore the phone? Will it still work or for example NAND memory is dead and nothing can be done? Best regards
