[Q] Root, but not recognizing

What is up…Question: My Samsung Genex is seems to be unlocked, as I unlocked it with the toolkit and the visual unlock appears during the Google boot. However, Superuser, Busybox and Rom Manager do not recognize the device as unlocked.
With no luck, I have re-rooted the device via toolkit several times.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!
i had this problem just a few days ago, or a similar one. initially i rooted my phone. then i got the OTA update since i was still stock. i accepted the update but never checked root until later and i had lost root. but for whatever reason i could not get back root no matter how much i tried.
i used the superboot one click method, over and over and over, but it kept failing. then one time if finally just worked and rooted. i didnt do anything different. so that's all the experience i can help you with...
Solved. Thanks to the fine folks that created the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit!
how? please explain , im having the same problem

to Root or not to Root? Unlocked LG G4 H815

I just got my G4 Unlocked international H815 model. It's running 5.1 software on ATT. It keeps bugging me trying to OTA software update. Not sure what it's trying to update to exactly, because the only way to see more info is to hit continue with update and there's no turning back from there.
I love this phone unlocked! it didn't have any bloatware I usually root to delete when I get my phone from the carrier. It's got stuff like Wifi hotspot stock and the FM radio and charges over QI instead of Powercrap ... etc.
My question is
if it's already got most of the stuff I root to access, do I let the OTA update happen and risk not being able to root?
not sure what all I'd gain.
I'm wary about rooting because my last phone was the LG G3 and I rooted it and despite me disabling all update processes, it updated itself one day on my way to work and got screwed up so bad I had to force a downgrade and put a rom on it and after a couple days of holding a 600$ paperweight, I finally got it up and running on a rom... still had some bugs but it worked.
I REALLY want to avoid that nightmare with this 3 day old phone.
opinions welcome!
Thanks
Are you saying it's already rooted? If it is, the OTA won't work anyway. You have to unroot and flash the update using LG bridge. but then you can just root it again using the same method. The update doesn't block root. Lots of us have done it. Read the rooting threads.
G4 TweaksBox. One reason to root. ^_^
Adaway, no more adverts in apps. another (big for me) reason to root.
What version are you on now? It's probably only the stagefright fix.
Root...flash TWRP...flash cyanogen 12.1
Install xposed framework and get the YouTube adaway module. That's deffo a reason to ROOT.

You need an unlocked bootloader to flash TWRP / CM.
I'm running stock v10d + root. Works awesomely.

Yes mine's unlocked, NOT rooted. apparently the update it was trying to do automatically wasn't a big update because it decided it had waited long enough and did it on its own, rebooted and its still at
5.1
I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the terminology and methods of rooting droids- I came from the dark side- I've jailbroken every iphone since the first one they ever produced. My G3 was my first real phone, but like I said, I had it for a couple months stock, rooted it, and almost immediately it went kamikaze OTA update while rooted and went haywire. I limped by with a mediocre rom for another 8 months, until some drunk A Hole destroyed it on Halloween. I may or may not be said A Hole haha
So I guess now my question is, once rooted, am I stuck at 5.1 forever with no security updates, software patches ETC?
and since most people don't have a true unlocked phone, is this process easier to do? I'm probably asking in the wrong forum section now aren't I?
I sure hope at this point if you truly have an unlocked bootloader, that you have the latest MM version 20B installed and have root! - I find that the stock ROM is the best performing and least buggy of any of them (with some minor tweakin)
Unable to Unlock BootLoader. SOS!!!
Hi guys! need a lil help here. I have LG G4 H815. Now this is what's happening :
1. I have tried t install LG drivers a million times but in the device manager, there's always some problem with them during the installation.
2. Therefore, I'm unable to locate my phone using 'adb devices'. I'm stuck on this first step for last 1 week and I have tried every available lg driver on the internet but still the result is same.
3. I'm using Windows 8 Pro.
What's the solution here guys? Your help will highly be appreciated.
you need "disable driver signature verification" to install it
(advanced reboot options from windows)
Still stuck!

I did as you said and disabled the driver signature verification at restart. Uninstalled the driver and installed again but still the problem persists.
When I connect the phone, LGE Android phone appears with a yellow question mark in the device manager. When I try to update the driver, it says that
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
MTP USB Device.
The system cannot find the file specified."
Still can't locate the device with adb. Please help me!
However bootloader unlock is not available for the H815P... :/
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA-Developers mobile app
But...but...
But sir, my phone is H-815, not H-815P.
Please help me where I'm making the mistake. I want to root my phone but nothing is helping me out.

If you want to root and unlock your ze551ml you must downgrade!

I have now spent several days in trying to root, boot unlock and every time I get that dreadful "permission denied", if you are on any build from 179 (I think) and upwards, no rooting or unlock tool will work here, you will end up going through all kinds of recovery and even xFSTK-Downloader, and simply waste your time.
I just went through the xFSTK-Downloader process in order to get my phone back to life, it was stuck in the Fastboot loop after trying to run the restore.bat to unlock it for M builds, so I thought I would create an entry here to warn people not to attempt any rooting or unlocking until you have downgraded your build.
Good luck

I never had any problems with rooting or unlocking LP .184 and now there is even a guide to root and unlock the MM beta (and it works great too). Maybe if you tell us exactly what you are doing we can help you

did you perhaps root and unlock your device prior to upgrading to build 184 initially? I have simply followed the threads to root and boot unlock, I actually did manage to root it with one of the 180 builds, but I still got permission denied, boot unlocker never worked for me and gave me lots of problems as I mentioned. If you look at the permission denied threads, I was having the same problem.
I flashed the MM beta before shakalaca ame up with the downgrade method. When you wanted to go back to LP you had to use xFSTK and the Asus Flash Tool then. That locked you down. One click unlock and method 3 for root worked on my phone. My son recently wanted xposed for youtube adaway on his zenfone 2 and his was never rooted or unlocked and the same worked on his .184 LP. You still have not mentioned in this thread what model zenfone 2 you are having trouble with - my home has 3 ze551ml 4GB/64GB phones and all 3 rooted and unlocked with no problems.

Trying to root RCA RLTP5567 (Android 6.0)

Hey guys,
I'm trying to root a cheap phone that I just got, but i'm not able to do it . I've tried KingoRoot and kingroot, but no success. I've tried the windows version of kingo too. It's a Android 6.0. Basicly I wanted to root my Asus zenfone 3 Laser, but it's an androitd 7.0, so pretty impossible for now... So i'm trying with an older version but it's not seem to be very successful. Any help or tips, please?
Thanks.

I bought the same phone and am looking for ways to root it, it's such a bi**h! tried all the options you mentioned as well ...
popups all over the place, not just in browser.. need to uninstall some system apps that may be causing this.
Do you have popup issues as well? if so, did you manage to get rid of them ..?

Root G3121 android 8.0

Hello. I recently bought a G3121 with android 8.0 and I want to root it, but the boot.img from the post i founded here doesn't work. I was wondering if anyone in the same situation with me has found something. Thanks.
I have exactly the same problem, using firmware 48.1.A.2.50, tried many ways to obtain recovery and root, but without succes - sometimes phone wasn't working, sometimes only TWRP was working, but without system so phone was useless, Magisk doesn't want to install on my phone (Bootloader unlocked). What am I doing wrong?
