Moto Z Play worth double the price of Redmi Note 4? - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I'm looking to replace my xperia z3 which is dying and I'm unsure about what I should pick: Moto z play, Redmi note 4 or even Lenovo p2.
I'm looking for big battery (ofc), software, modding, audio, good screen.
Do you think Moto z play (320€) is worth double the price of redmi note 4 (145€)?
Thanks!

Depends on what lte bands you have near you (z supports us bands, redmi and Lenovo does not, I'm sure other countries use these bands), if you want stock software and frequent updates, front facing speakers, if you like Moto mods and swapable back covers, front flash, f2fs, good rom support, etc.

Ofcourse Z Play if between Note 4 and z play.
Z play has better gaming, quality, etc then note 4.
But for P2 and Z Play, P2 has more battery power/backup then z play.
P2 also have more higher specs then Z Play with- 4gb Ram, 64 gb storage.
But i personally prefer Z Play because of Premium look, mods and faster upgrades.(Even both phones are from Lenovo but Z Play will receive more faster Upgrades)
Cheers!?

out of curiosity, does MI Redmi note 4 performs same as Moto Z play?

As i see Note4's GPU,CPU,Chipset being the same as Z play. Will the performance be same as Z play ?
Same performance at 12 K cost in India?
I am aware of that the display is different.

No way...SoC is just 1 part of a device...
The optimization of rom and vanilla os is what makes moto z smooth and fast...
So performance wont be similar!

If you only compare specification than note 4 beats z play, but build quality, camera sensors, internal parts quality, display quality, speaker and other components quality also matters. BTW redmi note 4 is bang at its price. But i love my Z play nevertheless.
Maybe not but its sure a hell more value for money.

[REQ PORT] [DEV] Moto Z Play 7.1.1 porting.

Hi everyone. I have P2 and Moto Z Play - both phones are great, but I can`t understand - why Moto Z Play with 3500 battery have almost the same battery life, as Lenovo P2 with 5100... Both phones have AMOLED and SD625 on board...
I think the secret is in FW.
I have no unlocked BL in P2 and can`t to try to port this ROM from Z Play to P2.
If anyone want to try - it will be awesome - to have all Moto Experience (Moto Display. Moto Actions) in P2 ))
Even if the rom is ported to Lenovo P2 , Moto display and Moto actions , wont work.
Did you try?

Moto Z Play (FAKE, Alps Z Play)

sup guys I have a problem, recently I bought a moto z play (at least I was thinking it was) but to my unhappiness it was fake i bought a Alps Z Play, so i have a question, can i put a original rom in this phone or a custom moto z play rom? :crying:
obs: built-in version: alps.l1.mp6.v2_magc6580.we.l_p45 and version number: LMY47I
I don't think so - the Alps Z Play has a different CPU (Mediatek MT 6580, 4 cores at 1.3 GHz) as opposed to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (8 cores at 2 GHz) and only 1 GB of RAM in the clone, from what I can see of the benchmarks: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/compare/8178138?baseline=7380482 ). Motorola stock firmware won't flash onto a Mediatek CPU/bootloader and you may end up bricking the device. The Alps Z Play appears to be running Android 5.1/6.0 as well from the benchmarks.
I would recommend returning the device if you can - for a refund - and buying a genuine Z Play. I do not know if other Mediatek ROMs will work on that device, though I imagine it'll be quite slow.
ok thx

From Z3 Tablet Compact to the Mate 20x..anyone done it?

Hello!
So I love BIG phones...which you probably guessed since I use the Z3 Tablet Compact as my phone.
Still I would like to have some newer tech on my phone, like MUCH better camera than the very bad ones on my Z3. No my phone is not my main camera but its nice to have something better. Also with built in flash (for flashlight usage). Not to mention more internal space and OLED screen.
Sadly there are no phones that can replace my Z3 and make me 100% happy since these days all phones have what I like to call the hotdog form factor.
My ideal phone would be like my old Mediapad X2 format and size with smaller bezels and newer hardware...but for now, this skinny form factor trend continues so looks like the best I could do for now is the 7.2" Mate 20x.
Has anyone gone from a Z3 to the Mate 20x?
I will be using it with AT&T and going for the L29 version. Likely will add some Squaretrade warranty when buying from Amazon.
Some recent feedback from the phone owners would be nice. One thing that got me holding back (aside from still hoping someone bringing a big 16:9 or 16:10 phone) is the fact that there is a Huawei 30...so I was wondering if a 30x is not too far off from being announced.
Thanks!
I still miss my old zenfone 3 ultra, but only phone who was getting close to it is my m20x... But really dont like 19:9... Miss the 16:9 a lot.

Oh I remember considering the zeonfone although dont recall why I didnt get one in the end. So you can imagine, coming from even bigger phones like the Mediapad X2 and the Z3 Tablet Compact...going to a smaller (thanks to the lame aspect ratio) phone is worrying me.
Guess I will just get one and test drive it before I sell my Z3
Looking at Z3 tablet form factor, ideal upgrade for you would be Mediapad M5 8. https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9092&idPhone2=6633
Maybe M6 is also coming soon.
Also consider this for taking calls on the go. https://consumer.huawei.com/sg/wearables/talkband-b5/
I have had various large phablets and tablets that I used as a phone as well, such as the Dell Streak (remember that one!), Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Huawei MediaPad X1, X2, M2, M3, M5 8.4, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Xiaomi Mi Max 3.
Recently I switched from my MediaPad M5 8.4 LTE to, briefly a Samsung Galaxy Note9, and now a Huawei Mate 20X.
The main reasons were that the M5 was getting slow and had this annoying Huawei memory cleanup app that I could not get rid off, it did not have dual SIM plus sufficient storage and it was just not comfortable to use as a camera and the camera sucks as well.
I still have the M5 but ever since I got the 20X i do not use the M5 anymore, not even at home on the couch.
I would like to have root but on the other hand I don't really miss much without it. I use Nova Launcher with different themes and I can change fonts with an app from Google Play. And I save a lot of time by not having to mess with custom ROM's etc.
The battery life of the 20X is awesome and it fits my hands fine, although I prefer it would be lighter.
And I wish they would offer the international version with 256GB as well.
I was watching movies on my Mediapad M3 8.4. I am selling it and getting the Mate 20 X.
Is anyone switching from a bigger tablet to a Mate 20 X and or prefer watching movies on Mate 20 X? Is it big enough to watch streaming content?

I too had pretty much same devices as you. starting from dell streak( it was one of a kind in looks in those days), galaxy note 1, mega 6.3, mediapad x1, x2, m3, xiaomi mix, honor note 10, mate 20x.
with mediapad x2, i always wished it to have lesser non screen area. i think 20x fits screen and size part pretty well.
