Is OP3 still worth it - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
I'm on the fence of changing my Nexus 6, and have been eyeing the Moto Z Play for a long time, until I saw that OnePlus 3 was pretty decent priced with good specs. Is it still worth buying it? Would love to get some input for battery from you guys.

Yes. Worth it. My OP3 from last June is still going strong. Battery still holds up all day with 3 and some change SOT most days. Strong dev community. OnePlus has promised O. I say get it.

Yes, I'm still happy with mine. If you don't mind buying used, 3 is available from 350, 3t from 400, on the usual sources (not sure if we can post marketplaces).
Big advantage of used is that you won't be waiting for in Stock and ship from China.
3t resale should be decent at that price, even after 5 comes out, given the estimated cost of 5, in case you don't like it.

I'd definitely buy the OP3 or the OP3T again if i needed a phone today - great performance, great battery life (slightly better on OP3T), quick SW and security updates, great dev community

Op3 is worthier than moto z play definitely

I would recommend just getting the op3t new since they don't sell the op3 anymore brand new. I like buying my phones new for the warranty.

OP5 is out soon so maybe it's worth hanging on for that.
If you don't want to pay that much then I'd say the OP3 is definitely worth it. I went from a Nexus 6P to an OP3 and don't regret my decision at all.

Maybe wait for the OP5 to come out, because loads of people will sell their used OP3 then

Obviously it's worth it, it's barely a year old phone and very capable.

Wait for oneplus5 it's just weeks away and the price is the same

On OnePlus site you can't buy 3.
3T it's 439 $.
In about 2 weeks OnePlus 5 will be out.
Motorola Moto Z it's fine phone, but OnePlus 3 it's better.

I would highly recommend the OnePlus 3T even now.
Go blindly for it.
But I do recommend to buy as soon as the OP5 comes out as then loads of used 3T would be available.

Would you like to upgrade Oneplus 3 to Oneplus 3T
Please delete
Nope, we have the dev support now. I heard that Nougat will come for all OP devices expect OPO this year? I don't mind them releasing a new phone unless they lied about their updates.
i got my OP3 since the start for this device. im really happy with it. 64 GB storage is enough for me. and the snapdragon 821 is just a bit faster, i think its not really noticeable. the battery is not really worth an upgrade.
The bitter truth is that OP3T is just better in every way..
- Better front camera
- Better battery
- Better LTE support
- (Subjective) GunMetal!
Yes we could do with more improvement but the 3T is not from a different product line, they could only change so much.
$440 isn't that bad.
I'd have paid the $40 overhead just for the LTE bands...
We have purchased Oneplus 3 few month ago, are we ready to drop it for new Oneplus 3T ? Anybody will like to use one device for at least a year. Launching new device so early will ultimately affect the support for previous device. I think if Oneplus is having good intentions, then they should exchange OP3 with OP3T for a negligible amount, what you think ?
I've had my OP3 for just under a month (cheers OP), but the OP3T camera still doesnt appear to be an improvement and this is really the only gripe I have about the 3. The slightly larger battery would be useful but I'm not burning more money for such a small upgrade which frankly I'll not notice.
I'm completely torn. I've only had my OnePlus 3 for a week and a day now and I love it. I thought The only reason I would have considered sending it back was if the 3T added a quad HD screen or if they added expandable storage.
They didn't add either of those things so I should be happy where I'm at. However I suddenly find myself rather upset that the phone I just bought has been depreciated just a week into ownership. Strangely that bothers me more than anything....
Still they have not released nougat based community build for OP3, instead they will release it for OP3T on priority

is the nexus5x still worth it ?

Hi guys !
I was plaining to buy a nexus5x in the last 4 mounths , but I hesitated a lot especially after the bootloop problem that a lot of people are claiming to have on their phones.
the reason that I wanted a nexus5x is basically the low price , besides the fact that it's a great phone with amazing specs + I already had a Smsung Tab A(6)(free) so I tought it would be wiser to keep it and buy a nexus 5x, instead of sealling it and spend all the money on a galaxy s7 or somthing like it.
So what do u think is the best choice :
to keep the Tab + buy nexus 5x(just a 16gb is available , with no warranty so if it brokes I'm done !!!)
or
to buy the s7
and thanks to all
The answer to the question whether Nexus 5X is still worth it depends on the price you pay for it. I got mine last summer for just 240USD and I still think it was worth it. It has a bright screen with objectively proven accurate colors. It has a very good photo camera and an extremely fast fingerprint reader. It has a very lean ROM, and very frequent monthly updates. The Nexus 5X was the first smartphone to receive the Nougat update (along with other Nexus devices). Even today, the only device that can challenge the Nexus 5X in the price-performance ratio (in USA at least) is the Huawei Honor 8.
Compare it to what else you can get for the same price. I'm still enjoying mine after over a year but there are different options to choose from at this point.
I just got my nexus 5x 2 weeks ago. and if you ask me i will say you that go for it man, its amazing device with less money. S7 is great too but you have to pay more for that, and what i love abt nexus 5x is its stock android and frequent updates if u are a stock android lover and want your phone to be updated than nexus 5x is for you.
Its not worth it. Trust me, the parts to fix it are expensive, it heata up during summer like crazy. The back is made of crap material and overall battery life while active is terrible. Get the OP3 or OP3T if you can. I should have bought that, but I was impatient so I opted for this crappy device
As others have said, it really depends on what you pay. I'm loving mine. I've had no problems so far, battery is acceptable, and running Nougat without problem. I couldn't ask for more from a device which I paid only $300 USD for.

( Kenzo) The snapdragon variant. Lots of development.
Thanks

16GB isn't worth it unless you're getting it for like $100.

Oneplus 5T or wait for next version?

Should I wait until the next version of the Oneplus phone comes out to purchase? Seems like it might be around the corner. I'm really impressed with the specs and features of the 5T. I'm just ready to dump this dang pixel xl. Are all you developers pleased enough with the 5T to upgrade to the next version when it becomes available?
OnePlus seems to iterate their phones every 6 months instead of the typical year. This means that a 'new model' is always just right around the corner. It also seems like (to me anyways) that this drives DEVs away as who wants to develop for a phone that will only be produced for 6 months (or less with the OnePlus 5).
It really depends. I'm happy that LineageOS 15.1 and Franco kernel is out for the OnePlus 5T and I wouldn't want to wait weeks for them to come out for the OnePlus 6. Moreover, as the OnePlus 6 appears to use a notch, I'm happy with my OnePlus 5T for now. It comes down to personal preferences but I wouldn't always bet on the newest and latest devices. It could even be that the OnePlus 6 will be much more expensive or lack a feature you want.
If you do tend to get the OnePlus 6 I would advise you to not buy it instantly. I was happy not to have bought the OnePlus 5 after the jelly scrolling issues (even though I would never have bought it due to the fingerprint sensor being at the front) and I'm happy I got the OnePlus 5T with no issues so far apart from the Widevine L3 problem which I do not care about too much.
This comes for every phone on the market. Should I buy it or wait for next gen.
Do you want it, buy it. Can you wait, wait. Next will always be better I guess.
OP6's screen might be 19/9 or more screen ratio with notch.
Snap 845 for sure.
Good to wait.:fingers-crossed:
I dislike the "notch mentality" and personally probably only use 25% of the power of the Q835. 5t is a solid phone that will last me hopefully the next 2-3 years. If the camera gets a big overhaul I might consider an earlier upgrade but looking at OP's track record I'd doubt it.
I ordered a pair of 5T's. These pixel xl's had to go. Thanks for everyone's input.

Nice I get mine Tuesday. Cya google, and hello at&t

worth it 2019?

Had the pixel 2 XL last year and loved it , ended up jumping on the Chinese bandwagon and got an mi8
Don't get me wrong cracking bit of hardware but there is no dev support going on.
Gpay has been broken for months
And my main feature I look for is the camera.
I was looking at the 3a XL but spec for spec the 2xl looks the better buy still
Im still using the Pixel 2xl, since 04.2018. IT have a one year. I've used S10e and S10 and I wouldn't want them. Pixel 2 xl still rocks hard. I don't feel that it is almost a 2yr phone.

Personally, if you can find one, and your looking for great value, and pretty good Dev support, the P2XL is a solid choice. Mine will be 2 years old in October, and I still get excellent battery life, monthly updates, and run stock rooted without any major bugs at all. Yeah, it doesn't have the best of screens, or sound volume, but everything is is pretty darn solid IMHO. The P3 series isn't much of an update, and see several problems with those as well on the forums. So there's by 2 pennies worth
Thanks guys gonna sell my mi8 and get a refurbished one online

You can get a used one on swappa for $248 right now.
Still pretty worth it. IMO the only reason to buy the 2XL is for the UFS since the 3aXL has eMMC so it has much slower performance in opening apps.
Overall, Pixel 3a is a great buy, especially if you have an old iPhone lying around. Google is offering $250+ for iphones as old as the SE. That brings the price down to $230 for a new phone. No telling how long it will last though. The SD 670 will be outdated fairly quickly compared to the 835.
If you're not shy for doing battery replacement on the P2XL, it will be a great phone for many years to come.
If you are shy to doing battery replacement, buy the 3a. The pixel 2 batteries are going to start going bad within a year and the performance impact of a bad battery is far greater than the performance impact of eMMC and the SD 670.
Also people are reporting up to 12 hours of SoT for the 3a. You will never get that from a pixel 2 XL no matter how many battery hacks you install.
Just managed a trade for my mi8 ,I'm pretty useless with battery replacements I knackered my old 6p
Got a p2xl today what's first thing I should do , just root or any preferred kernal and rom

Unfortunately....

I have come to a rather sad conclusion that OnePlus devices or the company in general has taken the route of other major smart phone manufacturers. I remember how astonished and excited I was when I purchased the OnePlus 1 then 3t... I also bought the 5t, 6t and 7t... But with every new device I noticed they were getting less dev friendly and more expensive. In am torn because I honestly don't think there is a better skin then OOS... I even like it better then stock. I remember the 3t was like $400 now the 8t is is almost $750. I am curious to know if anyone knows of a good value phone comparable to a OnePlus device or if I should just wait till the OnePlus 9t comes out and then purchase the 8t off swappa for half the price?
I picked up my first oneplus, the 7t, on black friday for $330 (like a lot of others). IMO the best value in any android are those 1 year old devices (new, not used), where stock is being cleared, but you still get a new device (new battery!) with a couple of years support.
Unless I see a smoking deal like the TMobile Pixel 2 over 3 years ago for half price, I'll never buy a phone at launch. Just my 2 cents.
