Display scracthed easily? - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hi, i got hair scracthes so easily in my Mi6.. how about you phones?

Nope. No scratches. Dont put ur phone unprotected in pocket. Small sand will scratch the glass because gorilla glass aren't made to withstand scratches

Is the screen on the Mi6 Gorilla glass?

The screen and the body scratch very easily. Mine is about an hour old....and I see them micro-scratches approaching! All it's been in is jeans pockets!

My Mi6 have low quality glass. Do not use it without protector. I have galaxy S7 and whatever you do to it no scratch at all. One week with MI6 without protection few stratches on display and on rear glass.. it is not gorilla glass. Just cheap glass for 5$.

The MI6 is Gorilla Glass 4 confirmed.. https://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/worldwide/en/products-with-gorilla/xiaomi/mi-6.html

Yes front but rear not..

Mine has micro scratches in the front.. Even tho I never dropped it or scratched whatsoever
Awesome phone but fragile screen

That is true..

I have tempered glass in the front so no idea, but the back glass is scratched only for being inside of a case.

Tempered Glass pros and cons vs Film screen protectors?

What the pros and cons of tempered glass screen protector vs a Film screen protector?
My concern about the Tempered glass is that :
--it's adhesive is only on the bezel area and since phones today have smaller bezel so it might get detached easily
--Tempered Glass might scratch the glass beneath it
--If adhesive of the Tempered glass became less sticky Dust might accumulate inside
So can you tell me your experience with tempered glass screen protector? I really want to hear from someone who used this screen protector for long time and not on these reviews on youtube since they only used it on the time they review it.
And also does anyone tried using combination of Film and T.glass protectors?
I also second this. Anyone that has this screen protector please respond.

I just found out that Spigen is selling a new type of tempered Glass screen protector it is "GLAS.T" it's different from the old one. This new one is all transparent and has adhesive all through-out the back part of the screen protector, unlike the old one which has paint on the borders and only adhesive on the painted area.
Spigen has GLAS.T for Note 1 Anyone that used the product for about 5-6 months now?

I have a tempered glass screen protector for my Note 3 and it fits and works perfectly. It's been on my phone for 2 months now. Not a single scratch to it and no peeling or dust accumulation at all. I would recommend one any time over a plastic protector. I got mine from a company called fasttech. They are very cheap compared to UK sellers and the company is very reliable even considering that they are Chinese.
Tempered glass has an adhesive throughout the whole surface, not only the bezel/perimeter area.
The difference is very simple. If you want scratch protection, get a film screen protector, but make sure to get quality PET 3H hardness film like the one sold by iSmooth and Spigen. Cheap ebay stuff is thin, will scratch, will bubble after some time, and will have rainbow effect under the florescent light. If you want ultimate shatter protection - get tempered glass. On impact the glass will shatter without affecting your display. Spigen and Seidio makes some of the best ones. I'm personally a big fan of Seidio VITREO and been using it on my Note 2 for a very long time.
for LG g2 temperate glass or we don't have to buy anything
I use the tempered glass for the LG G2, i think its better than a film protector.
No bubbles nothing, very clean. if you dont look at the edges u wont see there is a protector.

i've really no bubbles, just use the type method to remove bubles cause by dust.
the cons is that film protector changes a bit the polarization of my glass so it has more strange effect on very high view angle

The advantages of T. glass over films are the following.
-. Scratch - (almost)free : sellers boast it is harder than stock display, but I don't agree with. Glass screen protector also gets scratch.
-. Superb feeling : yes. its feeling is real better even stock display including any premium film. http://vimeo.com/91463403
-. Bubble -Free : Yes. it is easy to install and you don't worry about bubble.
Disadvantages
-. Price : $5~40 : I have tried $5 and 40 as well. I don't recommend both $5 and $40. you can find good one between them.
-. Thickness :0.15~0.4mm : Compared to film, it is bulky. Sometimes it won't be compatible with certain cases. (I don't recommend too thin one, since it is easy to brake before doing its protection job)
i have used a glass screen protector for the last month until it broke when i dropped my phone from hip height. i am extremely satisfied by the product. as it is rigid, it is very easy to apply and in contrast with plastic film protectors, the tempered glass lets your fingers glide on the screen. i was also impressed by the fact that after 1 month's use my phone had zero scratches, even though i was kind of provoking scratches by the way i was handling the phone. never going back to plastic film, not a slight chance there.
I've run a gauntlet recently with screen protectors and cases with my galaxy s7 edge. I can definitely tell you the pros and cons between tempered glass and soft film screen protectors.
Tempered glass pros- much sturdier, better scratch resistance, looks better. Easier to install. Longer field life. Better phone protection all around.
Tempered glass cons: some cases won't work with tempered glass unless it has a top that fully covers the glass. Dust buildup under screen protector, less sensitivity- much less. Won't work with an otterbox symmetry because the sides and front push the glass up and out but does work with the defender because the defender covers the edge of the screen. If sand or dirt gets underneath glsss, it could scratch up your screen. Very thick too.
PET film pros- better sensitivity, will work with any phone case. Sturdy enough for the most part. No issues with dust buildup under the cover. Works with any case and has better adherence. Very thin.
PET cons- they look cheap and scratch more easily than tempered glass and you can tell that the phone has a screen protector. Harder to install. The protector scratches but the phone screen doesn't. Shorter field life.
Personally, I prefer PET film screen protectors to tempered glass but to be fair, I have an edge phone and glass screen protectors with edge phones can be more finicky than flat phones. Glass looks better, but aside from drop protection and looks, they don't keep the dirt out and can be a chore with the wrong kind of cases, or simply won't work.
I think film is much more versatile and I'm willing to trade some aesthetics in favor of usability. That's my 2 cents on both types of screen protectors based on recent experience.

And liquid bubbles with soft cases go away in a few days. Air must be popped and dust must be removed physically but moisture does dry out. You can tell a moisture bubble because it has rainbow swirls if you view the phone on a screen with a white background.
Don't try to iron out small moisture bubbles or press them out. They go away on their own within a week and if you mess with them you can bend your soft screen protector out of shape or get divot lines.
Also, if the soft screen protector has the oleophobic coating, it does work very well, in fact it's almost if not better about prints and crap on the screen than actual glass screens. Plus, tempered glass can be a problem on certain phones.
My friend has a note 5 with a tempered glass screen protector and he dropped his phone (no case) so instead of the screen shattering, the back of the phone did. Protectors work, but if you have a glass coated phone- better have a case on it.

[Q] How to know if HTC One M9 has Gorilla Glass 3 or Gorilla Glass 4 ?

Hi all,
yesterday UPleaks reveal that HTC One M9 can have Gorilla Glass 3 or Gorilla Glass 4., depending of the production.
Is there a way to know which version is on our devices ?
Trying scratching it with some keys and a knife. If it doesn't make one scratch its gorilla glass 4
Doesn't matter if it's gorilla glass 1,2,3 or 4. It still scratches if you don't use a screen protector, unless you have an office job and keep your hands and pockets extremely clean. You can take a key or knife to any gorilla glass screen and it won't scratch, but one piece of sand and it's game over. My screen has several scratches on the screen where I swipe up to wake. That was after 2 days without a screen protector.
Sapphire is the only thing that won't scratch from things like a piece of sand. But sapphire is more brittle than gorilla glass or so I've heard.
TK all
Gorilla glass really wouldn't scratch just by swiping up on it. Did you do it with a pen knife or something

I did it with an angle grinder, lol. No I did not use a knife. If I would have used a knife the screen wouldn't have scratches on it. I must have had some kind of sand or dirt on my thumb.
Lol

To screen protector or not to screen protector?

Do you use a screen protector or not? Please be sure to vote!
If not, is the Gorilla Glass enough, or does your naked screen have scratches (or worse)?
I haven't used a screen protector so far and I regret it. There's no deep scratches, but there are micro-scratches that are visible in bright lighting...

I have a pixel XL screen protector on my A7. I cut it to fit the A7.

I've had the same experience. I didn't use a screen protector for a period of maybe, 3 weeks? And noticed the micro scratches also when viewing the device at extreme angles. [near 180 obtuse angles? Or near 0 degree acute angles respective to the plane of the phone? Sorry math people.]
One of the few things about the phone that make me a little disappointed with ZTE.
Since then, I've been using a liquid screen protector and it works well.. I've dropped my phone once. From about 4-5 feet up onto concrete with no damage to screen but a metal flake on the upper and lower housing.
I would recommend using something.. Anything, as some protection is better than no protection. Be it from micro scratches, hairline cracks, or complete screen destruction.

The problem is Gorilla Glass 4… It's more prone to tiny scratches than Gorilla Glass 3. But don't most smartphones, including the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy line use GG4 as well?
No screen protector here as I couldn't find one, and luckily I have no scratches at all. The screen seems incredibly resistant!

So you removed the one that came pre-installed on the phone?
Actually the EU version does not come with a screen protector. So maybe he has that version. i do
That's the reason I've always uesd tempered glass - micro scratches! To all the people thinking it's because of keys or coins, etc. in your pocket- it's not, as most keys and coins are usually softer metal that can't scratch Gorila Glass (that's how they're able to make keys for you from blanks).
It's little particles of sand that can end up with the rest of your pocket lint that's believed to be the cause of microscratches. Sand is usually silica which is 6-7 on MOH's scale for hardness which is above what any of the Gorilla Glass 1-5 has been rated to protect.
I'm now on my second Axon 7, due to a cracked screen. I was using an aftermarket flexible protector. Looking for a tempered glass option for the replacement phone.
On the upside, ZTE does at least include accidental damage coverage in the warranty. It's still $80 for accidental damage, but that's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new phone or getting the screen repaired.

Which aftermarket flexible protector? How did it get cracked, and which case were you using, if any?
In my opinion, the case is the most important element of protection from cracking in case of drops, unless the screen hits something sharp, like a rock or the corner of something —*that's when you need tempered glass.

Good point. I wasn't using any kind of case, and it likely would have helped in my scenario. The protector was a DeltaShield BodyArmor Full Coverage Screen Protector. I dropped the phone on to my concrete porch. I think it hit flat face down on the concrete.
I have 2 different cases on order: a Spigen Rugged Armor case and a CoverON Hard Slim Hybrid Kickstand case. We'll see which one I like better.

I think nilkin can't get over all of the screen, I mean can't protect the all screen. At the edges would be empty..

Bro, Tempered Glasses don't work like that. Last week i dropped my max just from above a feet. Since it fell by corner it popped out of frame i pushed it back. Got a little dent on corner and i don't had glass or cover. I ordered a metal cover which i will receive by the week. I will test that and put a review on accessories section. Tempered glass don't provide protection from dropping ur phone. I would recommend you case over glass since they only provide screen protection not 360 protection.

Wait few days i will put a detailed review of this cover With pros and cons..
Thank You

U talking about Samsung Galaxy S6??
I believe you. They can protect some devices but not all. samsung s6 body is made of gorilla glass 4 (front and back panel). I guess that G Glass 4 is the most latest by corning. How strong is it you can see demo on YT. Even if you don't had glass on it. Normally It wasn't going to break. Although sometimes it's glass get crack if you drop it without case or screen guard.
On other hand we have Mi Max which got a metal body. It's weight is 203g and have massive screen. S6 weight only 138grams. I am saying if it falls to floor by it's back/front panel, There's no prob but if it falls by corner then you have to worry about it.
Also i have experienced that devices with a plastic body don't break easily and metal devices get dents sometimes if they fall by corners. So the only damage i m talking about metal device is DENTS. If you drop it from ur pocket it's more likely going to be a side drop (it can fall by corner). Side drop will more likely results ina dent and i don't think a galas will protect from side drops. Glass is grt for screen protection.
At the end choice is yours!! choose wisely
Had my Mi Max screen broken. 50 cm flight right to the stone parquet. The corners are weak spots. So, if you have screen protector not covering the ends, glass is not protected. Nothing helps, ok maybe some ugly case.
About metal unibody... good commercial. I have reassmbled Mi Max for few times. No metal in there.

Suggest me good tempered glass and a good case that can handle this cases.. but not a case like the above's guy..
I wish I could help. I have read several forums about screen protecting but sadly there is no solution because Mi Max has 2,5D edges.
About case: i have used Nillkin hard plastic transparent cover. Looks solid, edges over the corners. Havent dropped yet, but I truely believe, that it minimizes the risk.

What do you think about a bumper for case? It helps?

Tempered Glass and Screen Protector Film

I bought an Edge to Edge tempered glass from good mobile accessory shop and got it fitted in my Mi10 by a professional technician there itself. After a week or so there developed one or two air bubbles in the screen and they began to grow big covering half of my screen. So I approached the shop again and they repalaced the glass with a new one. After about 2 weeks there began to develop air bubbles again and they growing in size gradually. My had not dropped anywhere from me or others. So what is the reason for this?If I replace the tempered glass with a Screen Protector film, can the developing of air bubbles be completely prevented?Aso will this actually protect the phone screen glass from breaking in the event of a fall? Can anyone suggest a good quality Tempered glass and good quality Scree Protector Film?

It will offer some protection but if the phone lands a certain way the screen is going to crack regardless of what you've got on.
I just used a basic film one but the fingerprint is a bit crap. Glass ones never fitted right.
Hey you can try using Siege Glastimate+ for Galaxy S20+. It's a UV glue tempered glass. Price is quite high but it is really case friendly tbh bc im using the glass with my Ringke Fusion-X casing with no problem. And also the tempered glass has no touch issues whatsoever bc it is a UV glue not like normal tempered glass with edge only glue. And for the back panel I'm using a cheap carbon fibre sticker to avoid scratches haha
I bought the one from *******.. to much of my surprise it actually is quite good.
Installation was easy with an included guide/holder. The film has 2 parts that lets you apply the top half first then the bottom.
It's super thin, like what you'd see from the factory. The TPU film is also really smooth.
